The arepas were perfectly crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. The beans were simultaneously simple and complex. The sauce that comes with them was a perfect match. The tostones were large and crispy - not overly dense nor mushy. The music and overall ambiance was chef's kiss. I am excited to go back soon!

We got off the trolley at Stop 20, National Shrine of Our Lady of La Leche, and were going to walk to the restaurant. Unbeknownst to us, there was no crosswalk to cross the busy Ponce de Leon boulevard. Mom isn't as spry as she once was so we didn't risk crossing without a crosswalk, so we had to walk another 1/4 or so to the nearest crosswalk then doubled back to the restaurant. Located in the The Ponce St. Augustine hotel, the restaurant is just to the left of the main doors. We had to wait a bit to get seated as the lone server had to clean a table first. Service was slow. I ordered the Bistec a Caballo (medium), my wife tried their Pork de Leon with fries and my mom opted for the Inca bowl. Did I say service was slow? Our orders weren't synched up. My order and my wife's sandwich were served first and we had to wait a few minutes before my mom's dish was served. My wife liked her sandwich and fries although she thought the shredded pork was a bit dry. My mom liked the flavors of her dish, with tender cuts of meat and smoky soy sauce flavor. The Bistec a Caballo had decent flavors BUT that steak was tough, even ordered medium. I felt like I was cutting through shoe leather cutting it with the serrated knife. Slow service and a tough steak bumped our rating down. We just couldn't overlook the quality and/or preparation of my steak, even with good flavors. Lunch for 3 came out to just over $67 with tip. Oh yeah, they add a surcharge for credit card payments.

Cafe Con Leche -- ABSOLUTE WOW…read more Okay... this place is AWESOME. Like already thinking about when I can go back awesome. I had the chorizo tacos....bold, flavorful, perfectly cooked, and honestly mouth-watering. He ordered the burrito, which came with crispy home fries, and we added a side of rice and beans to share (which was 100% the right call). Then came the pièce de résistance... Banana tres leches Holy. Smokes. Melt-in-your-mouth, not-too-sweet, rich without being heavy. The kind of dessert where conversation pauses because everyone is busy having a moment. The vibe: Not fancy. You order at the counter, grab a seat, and the magic happens. The people are so kind, the food comes out with love, and it feels authentic in the best possible way. Bottom line: Comforting, flavorful, crave-worthy food made by genuinely nice people. I'm already craving it again... and that says everything. This is the kind of place you tell your friends about...then bring them with you next time.

Their pics are on the wall and their story of the celebrities are on the napkin holders. Now you will find Puerto Rican rotisserie chicken - moist and tasty. Not dry! You will find other excellent Puerto Rican fare here - roasted pork, mofongo, trifongo, empanadas, alcapurrias, rice con gandules. We ordered a 1/2 chicken entree with sweet plantains. Our other entree is their pastelon. This is a must try. It's sweet plantain lasagna. Instead of noodles it's sweet plantains. Sweet and savory heaven here. You pick the two sides. I picked yuca with mojo(I ordered this for my hubby) along with it, sweet plantains. So good and so big and great price. They also give you some yummy samples - bread pudding and another pudding with coquito l. They also sell coquito which is the traditional coconut liquor drink to die for, served at Christmas Service is A+!!! Friendly, Helpful, Engaging!!! So glad we came here!!

The pork was succulent! I added a chicarone and it was crunchy and delicious! I would definitely recommend! We had so many leftover sides that I made fried rice the following day and added the Yuca to my pot roast on another meal. What impressed me, was they forgot the green banana salad in my order and called me to tell me while I was on my way home. Soooo sweet of them! I will try them again! Customer service like this is refreshing!
