Today was the first time that I went back to victoria's after covid and I can tell you I am not pleased. I sat down with a nail tech and I told her that I wanted acrylic tips and after she put on the tips, she started painting them and I asked her what she was doing. I told her I wanted regular acrylic tips and that i just want regular gel nail polish and not the pink gel. I was not even sure what she was doing. She did not listen to my suggestion and continued painting the nails. I had to repeat myself twice and she stopped for a second but then kept painting them and proceeded to use the pink gel. I wish I had gotten her name because I have never been so displeased with the customer service before. I also told her that I felt the nails were not secure and she had to get another nail tech to tell her what I was saying and they both ignored my suggestion. I am sure they also overcharged me for the pink acrylic gel of course because my nails do not usually come out to 65 not including tip. The nails came out crooked, were very curved and are SO THICK, I am not sure if you can tell in the pictures but even people have said they did a bad job. EXPENSIVE $$!! But worth it. I only go here when I'm trying to indulge in self care; pure vanity purposes only. I went in to get the hot new Cat Eye Gel Manicure. I'm not into gel; but made an exception to try it out as I am starting a fancy new job. They charged $15 extra for this treatment. Ok cool- but the nail tech messed up on one of the nails and tried his best the fix it causing a double cat eye. (No one is perfect but usually I want my nails to be impeccable if I'm paying someone to paint it). Spa pedi is $40 and comes with a mini back/ leg massage/ hot towel treatment; me and everyone around me got it over the regular pedi. Admittedly, I only stop in here about once every six months to get my brows done but when I do, I'm always glad I made the pitstop in the mall. Pretty cheap (by Manhattan standards) and quick quality service! I have uneven, unruly curly eyebrows (thanks Dad) so they're really easy to mess up. The technicians at Victoria's are great about knowing how to trim and shape my brows so that they look amazing. It was my first time there on Monday 3/14/2022 and the nail technician was so aggressive he ripped off half my real nail while removing my acrylics. I ended up coming to this nail salon bc the one I usually go to was busy and I get my nails filled every 2 weeks. I went in for a gel manicure, a pedicure, and to get my legs waxed. I ignored the bad reviews on yelp, and I wish I didn't as I'd give this place negative stars if I could. Here is my honest review: Pros: - Clean-appearing facilities - Open atmosphere - A large selection of nail colors to choose from Cons: - Unprofessional and inexperienced staff. - Unhygienic practices - Legitimacy is extremely questionable My Pedicure Experience: - My original technician, Nancy, insisted that I should wax my legs first. She did not understand that legs should be waxed or shaven at least 24 hours before receiving a pedicure. According to the CDC, waxing first runs the risk of INFECTION. I had to argue with her that I wanted to get my legs waxed LAST. - While Nancy was cutting my cuticles around my big toe, she literally cut and RIPPED off a chunk of my skin. She did not understand why what she did was bad. She just smiled and laughed and placed my ripped skin on top of my foot. She gestured to it and laughed some more. Needless to say, I was appalled but still willing to give her another chance. -Nancy, completely botched my pedicure (as in, a 10 year old could have done better). Nailed were filed unevenly and paint was blotchy and the coats were uneven. - After I raised my complaints with the manager, I got another technician named John. He was OKAY at best. Gel Manicure: - John did my gel manicure. I'm not thrilled because it still looks slightly blotchy. I've had better from cheaper, dingy-looking holes-in-the-wall Waxing: - After waiting 30 minutes for a female technician to be available (after the manager told me it's be a 5-10 minute wait. I lay on the table and she tells me that my leg hair is too long and that it will cost extra. I told her no and stood back up to put my pants back on. - As I'm half naked, she tries to open the door which leads into the public area. I snapped at her because I was still undressed. I didn't need the other customers to see me standing there in my panties. - I end up leaving the room and walking to the counter to pay for the first two services. I asked the manager if I could see Nancy's license or certification (since all other salons have them on display for customers to see). The manager refused. He said the owner has them but customers are not allowed to see them. This has NEVER happened to me before. I seriously question the legitimacy of this business. I wish I read the reviews before going there. First of all, no one speaks English so they can't understand what you're telling them that you want. i went there first for my wedding mani and pedi. Pedi wasn't bad but manicure was horrible, not what I wanted, they didn't understand what I was saying. I had to reshape my nails myself. Second time I went back just for a pedi. Finish is not smooth, they do not polish the front of the nail either. They had me leave without the polish being dry, and it smudged. I had to go back For them to fix it. Yikes! So for the pros: - They attended to me very quickly. There were so many seats and nail technicians that it was a very quick process. - Even though I had 3 different people attending to me they transferred me seamlessly from one person to another. - Price for eyelashes, nails and toes all totalled 78 with tax. Con are major though! - My nails look horrrrrrible. I don't know if it's the lighting but I didn't notice it until the following day. They all Lumpy. The Polish is not smooth. And the edges around the nails are not clean. See pic. - Never mentioned an extra charge for filing down even though he offered it. - In cleaning my nail, an edge chipped off. Rather than fix it, he just filed it down so that it was significantly shorter than the others. He would have left it like that if I didn't say something. This place is horrible and against my better judgement I came here out of desperation. A regulate pedicure is $25 and the guy must've haggled and tried to convince me to get a pricier pedicure about 10 times, no lie, to the point where it was uncomfortable. The pedicure lasted 10-15 minutes and NEVER in my life had a pedicure finished so quick. The foot scrub literally lasted 10 seconds per foot and I had to ask him to scrub a little more or else I could've done this ish myself at home. He also didn't buff my toes well and the paint job sucked. I wasn't satisfied so I asked him to redo the buff at least on the big toes and the polish. He did so in a rush and his attitude went from 0 to 100 as if I didn't just pay $25 AND tip him. AND to add insult to injury I had used the same color to match my nails. When he redid the paint on my toes he used an obviously different yellow and then claimed that it was the same yellow. I'm honestly not too anal about matching exact colors but it's the principle of it and his sucky attitude. And to sum it up he still didn't do what I asked but at that point I was over it. Also, during the 15 minute pedicure the guy kept talking nonstop about being gay, asking if I have gay friends, asking if I go to nightclubs and then told me that he's not a man, he's really a black woman deep down inside. Ummm, awkward. Maybe try that with a returning customer but not with a stranger. Just saying. Albeit unnecessary he was friendly so I didn't mind terribly, but still. In places where there's a certain demographic of customers service tends to suck because these kinds of customers usually aren't respected. I'll leave it at that but I should've went with my gut to either do it myself or go elsewhere. I WILL NOT be returning to this overpriced place where paying customers can't get good service. FOH.
