Tail End Bar and Restaurant

Tail End Bar and Restaurant

There was an open-air market right at the end of the port dock so we talked with several of the locals selling their wares. We were led to Tail End Bar and Restaurant via the recommendations of several local people. So glad we went!!! This is a small mom & pop restaurant and walking in you can smell all of the wonderful spices and flavor from the foods we were about to eat. We talked with the owner and explained our situation and need to try local foods and allowed her to make up a plate that included many of their specialties. We were not disappointed one bit! Oh my gosh...talk about food with such a special taste and all of the textures were amazing! Neither of us had tried Ox Tail before and although the wife didn't care for it, I loved it! I'm sure this is something that everyone makes differently so just going somewhere to order it may not be best because my first experience here was so good. It's flavorful and tender, albeit a bit fatty and full of bones. Loved it! We also had rice and peas (traditional Caribbean fare), stewed chicken which was flavorful and rich, Kingfish in Creole sauce (we both didn't care for this, it had a bit of fishy taste for me), and stewed pork. We also tried their version of Provisions, which is simply root vegetables cooked together with rich seasonings. Our version had sweet potatoes, plantains, and yams. We loved this dish! While we were eating we observed many locals coming and going, some ordering and eating there and others getting take-out. We could tell it's popular with the local residents! Overall we had a great experience here and I want to say thank you to the owners for providing such a great meal for us!

The lady and man working the place were really friendly and nice. I ordered the potfish in the creole sauce and my husband got the stewed chicken. The fish was tasty; the creole sauce was a little bland. I love creole anything being from Louisiana; but this sauce was a tad too tomatoe-ee and not super flavorful. The macaroni salad and the provisions were really delicious. The stewed chicken was ok; I really wish I would've ordered the turkey neck because that looked the best; but my husband wasn't feeling adventurous and got the chicken instead. It was good but it wasn't the best food we had while visiting the islands.

Sugar Beach Condos - Welcome to the Sugar Beach Condo Resort

GREAT ACCOMMODATIONS…read more Renting a condo in St. Croix was the best idea since it's like living in a home while you're on vacation. The Sugar Beach Condos are located just 5 minutes north of Christiansted, but about 25 minutes from the airport. Luckily a driver from the Olympic Rental picked us up at the airport. The check in at the condos was quick, and we were in our unit within minutes. It was a comfortable one bedroom with kitchen, laundry facilities, and a nice veranda overlooking Buck Island, Gallows Bay and Christiansted. The location is great, even though there were tenement apartments about half a mile away. But the condo was positioned so that you always get the trade winds. In our 9 days we used the AC only one day, did two loads of laundry, and two loads in the dishwasher. The king size bed was comfortable, and the sleeper sofa was convenient for guests. There was a pool and club house, but we never used it. The beach is just outside the veranda, and some units have direct access to the water. Parking is convenient and the grounds were well kept. My only qualm is living with furniture that's dated and a very small and dark bathroom. I would definitely return and perhaps try another unit, maybe a studio at half the cost for the 1 bedroom.

Excellent accommodations -- me and my family stayed at the Sugar Beach Condos for a six night stay…read more Leslie and her husband made the trip enjoyable and comfortable. Our condo held 6 people, two in the master bedroom, and four in the extra room (with a pullout bed). Both rooms were welcoming and nicely decorated. We had two bathrooms in out our condo, the master bathroom had two sinks, a large jacuzzi, shower and a toilet. The other bathroom had everything but the tub. We had enough TP for a few days, and then needed to go out and buy more. We also ran out of soap and lotion, so we ended up buying a bottle at the store. No cleaning service came, so we had to fend for ourselves, which meant we also had to wash and dry the towels they gave us. The kitchen was spacious, a large full sized island, coffeemaker, dishwasher, and refrigerator, just excellent! The owners provided us with all the needed utensils (forks, knives, spoons, plates, etc). We ate at home for most of our meals. Each room is secured with a numeric padlock and a screen. Our back patio had an excellent view of the beach. The beach and pool accommodations were outstanding! White sand beaches, hammocks, lounge chairs, and kayaks (if they came in your rental). A historic sugar mill leans over the beautiful pool, the pool was very large, but had no hot tub. Tennis courts were available on the outskirts of the property, but as of March 2019 were not in service and very rundown. The security staff, although small, was nice and friendly. A great place to stay for a family of 2-6, wonderful! Thanks Leslie!

Do not be fooled because this is owned by Marriott. Throw the whole hotel away!…read more Pros: Beautiful, picturesque Check in staff were friendly and apologized for the inconveniences. Con's: Housekeeping came banging on the door at 20 til asking when I was leaving instead of just waiting until after the scheduled checkout time. Housekeeper also let herself in while I was showering and asked if I needed cleaning that day (chain was on the door and it was "locked") Stains in toilets, and all over vanity chair Checked in online the day before alerting business id arrive at 2pm. Room was not ready until after 4:30pm (check in time is 4) Staff provide verbal directions and let you on your way. No one shows you anything or walks with you. Everything is extremely overpriced. DO NOT EAT HERE! Min 30 mins drive from everything (MUST RENT A CAR) Room 75 is excessively noisy. It's where the house keepers yap about their day, the golf carts park and it's just outside the parking lot and parallel to the pool so you hear noise all day/ night it's impossible to relax.

The property is tucked away in the hills, surrounded by breathtaking scenery that feels peaceful and untouched. Its secluded location made the beaches feel private--soft sand, clear blue water, and the constant sound of waves crashing. The soothing ocean sounds made nights especially relaxing, while the calm water during the day was perfect for splashing, swimming, and enjoying family time. The resort atmosphere was quiet and clean, making it easy to unwind. Drinks were always perfectly frozen, which was a nice treat in the warm island weather. There's a lounge available throughout the day, as well as a restaurant for dinner, and the lounge also serves casual food if you're in the mood for something lighter. The pizza from the lounge was especially good. Dining at the restaurant offered a nice variety of steak and seafood options. Breakfast was a highlight, with a full buffet available each morning along with made-to-order omelets. Be sure to look closely around the omelet station--there's a little hidden surprise where you can often find French toast or pancakes. We missed it the first couple of days but were glad once we discovered it. For those who enjoy a bit of adventure, a roughly 45-minute hike over the hill is well worth the effort. The trail leads to stunning tidal pools and opens up to a striking black stone beach. The sound of the waves crashing against the rocks and the stones rustling underfoot creates an unforgettable, almost magical experience. Overall, Carambola offered a serene, scenic escape that made our Christmas in the Caribbean truly special.

I wish I didn't have to write this review, but after multiple emails, messages, and empty promises…read morethat someone would reach out, we've been completely ignored. Our wedding was in December, and it's now almost February--still no response from the venue or the owner. The issue? We paid extra for a higher-tier bar package, only to find that our bar signage was hidden, and the bartender had no idea how to make any of the drinks. Classic cocktails like Old Fashioneds and Negronis were made poorly (when they were made at all), and in the end, most guests resorted to drinking only wine, champagne, or beer--completely negating the premium package we paid for. We made menus for the drinks and they magically disappeared. To make matters worse, we were previously assured via email that the bartender was experienced, only to later find out that they were hired the day before the event. This level of unprofessionalism is unacceptable. We reached out multiple times to resolve this fairly, including requesting a partial refund for a service we didn't receive. We were met with silence. Someone on Instagram keeps telling us that "someone will reach out," yet here we are, still waiting. If you're considering this venue, be warned: they have no problem taking your money, but when an issue arises, they disappear. We expected better, and at the very least, a response. Mind you, the location is spectacular but the fact that they hired someone without experience to work a wedding is shady and unfair to the guests and couple who paid out of pocket to make this an experience. It was an experience but not one that we smile about when it comes to talking about the bar saturation . 90% of guests are all industry people. Thanks for not responding. I tried.
