Great Experience for My Mom's Dental Visit I came here with my mom after she was assigned to this dental provider. The office is small but very clean, and the staff is friendly and welcoming. Parking is street-only, so it might not be the easiest right in front--but there was plenty available just across the street. We didn't mind the short walk at all--it was actually kind of nice. My mom was checked in quickly, and they diagnosed her dental issues right away. Everything went smoothly, and so far, I've had no problems with the office or the staff. I didn't think it was possible to get my smile back. after years of cigarettes I had periodontal disease and a few teeth had to be pulled. I actually cried. Because mandated by our dental insurance, our whole family has to see this dental office. Today, my husband walked out because he got tired of waiting. He heard laughter in the next room which made him think it was the staff. Nobody updated him about the dentist running very late. I found out about the dentist being late because I called the office after the fact. Working in healthcare has taught me that patients do not like waiting; however, it eases their impatience when you keep them informed of what's going on. All the dental staff had to do was inform my husband that the dentist was not there yet. I hope their staff can be trained better. read more

Avoid coming here i caught an infection on March 27th, 2024 during my appointment visit at 14:30 after all i went in for was to get my crown checked out because it was causing pain/discomfort. Now im currently hospitalized battling this infection that caused the side of my face to swell up im in horrible pain. Avoid coming here at all cost especially the asian lady doctor who worked on me was the one responsible for this infection. She was to neglectful to check out my tooth after i had said it was abnormal pain, she could of took extra minute to make some quick observations instead of saying it was good & all i was given was ibuprofen for pain that did absolutely nothing! My previous dentist was great but the office staff and the long waits to be seeing drive me to search for a more practical option. All I needed was a cleaning and a small fixing on my front chipped tooth ... I've had it for a while, more like over a year and all because I dreaded having to call my dentist office and wait months for an appointment. When I called Dr De los Santos, the receptionist booked for 3 weeks out, not exactly the immediate appointment I wanted to secure but I had very limited options so I gave it a try. Soooo glad I did!!! In the first appointment Dr De Los Santos perfumed the cleaning not just the X-rays and that's when I knew I was in great hands. Dr. Victor De Los Santos has been our family dentist for the last 12+ years. I travel from Corona to Long Beach, 94 miles round trip to be treated by Dr. De Los Santos, and it is well worth my trip. We have referred our friends and family, and all have excellent reviews. Dr. De Los Santos is a professional, attentive, and compassionate doctor. His staff is friendly, considerate, and always assuring that my family and I are well taken care of. The office is very clean, up to COVID policies, and continuously updated. I have always been self-conscious of my smile, I had a visible cross bite, and disliked taking pictures. Several dentists recommended corrective jaw surgery, in order to improve my smile. Dr. De Los Santos assured me that he would correct my smile and has totally accomplished it! I was a patient here for 4 years, never really had a complaint until there was a new front desk person who was hired in the past year and was very bossy mean and disrespectful and her sidekick a new dental assistant who I had never seen until my last 2 visits... they are all being led by a dentist who runs an office that doesn't care about people's time or people in general as he condones their disrespectful behavior. On my last three visits these people have repeatedly had me waiting egregious amounts of time after my scheduled appointment despite early arrival. No explanation no nothing. They don't care if you wait all day as long as you show up. Then when I finally got back there I kept getting the one dental Assistant they hired that was rude unprofessional and carried the same values as the office culture in general so she fit right in. Finally, when I had an extraction scheduled and had already planned to leave this place after it but of course they had me waiting over TWO HOURS after my scheduled appointment yet again. You can literally only park in the street for two hours to which they suggest parking in Carls Jr parking lot!! I approached the counter and let her know I wanted a reschedule and I have to go and I want in writing why I needed this extraction in case I don't come back here ... I came back for my next cleaning here and I was magically removed from their list... the best thing this trashy ass place ever did for me was help me find a new dentist!!! read more

I had called this office twice with no answer and left messages to make appointment. On the third call, I made an appointment. When I arrived at appointment 15 minutes early and no hello or anything when I placed my name on their chart. I waited 40 mins and then asked when I be seen? She said he is behind 40 mins. I waited additional 40 mins when I finally just walked out the door and told them to cancel appointment. I rarely do this. I am usually very patient. I've been to other dentists in the LA area and I couldn't find one that I really felt comfortable with. The first, in Hollywood, acted like he had no clue what he was doing and therefore, was completely unsure of himself. Also, his office was completely empty the day I went - can't be a good sign. The second, in Lakewood, I actually reviewed and was nothing more than a hustler. Using a combination of insults and ultimatums, I was forced to believe that the only options for my teeth were root canals and expensive whitening treatments- and that was before I could receive a simple cleaning. Dr. De Los Santos' office and staff were friendly, knowledgeable and extremely cooperative in helping me figure out which treatment plans were right for me and my finances. I can't remember my dentist's name, but she was great! She made me feel comfortable and explained exactly why she felt I needed certain work done. (She's in the Long Beach office only on Mondays and Fridays, so if you want to request her, you can tell them that) I spoke with the receptionist who helped me work out an appointment schedule for what needs to be fixed (i just have a couple cracked fillings, a cavity, a chipped tooth and a wisdom tooth extraction - not too bad after five years of no dental checkups, etc.), and had no problem understanding what I wanted covered by my insurance. My favorite part - they cleaned and polished my teeth!!!! This may sound like a silly thing to be excited about, but feel free to follow my profile to the previous dentist I reviewed. Let's just say, my hygienist at Dr. De Los Santos' office ALSO thought it was weird that I DIDN'T get a cleaning at the previous dentist as a part of my check-up. The office is in the bottom of a sketchy-looking apartment complex, but don't let that stop you. It's slightly outdated in decor, but it's very clean and the staff goes above and beyond to make you feel welcome and comfortable. I've been going to this office for years since they're my usual doctor. The staff is super nice and accommodating. I've never had any problems. Just recently, I had to remove my top two wisdom teeth, and this was the first time I had any sort of real procedure done here. Victor went through it like nothing. I have been taking my 85 year old mother to her recent dentist appointments. While the front desk staff seems friendly and courteous, there are a number of issues with the services at the Bixby Knolls office. Most recently, my mother needed to have a crown put in after a root canal. I called and left a message on a Monday but never received a call back to schedule the appointment. I called and left another message and an email on their website and still did not get a call back. After calling a 3rd time to schedule the appointment, she was able to have the crown work done. During this last appointment, the staff member seemed to be new and took a long time to set up the crown. That was not the problem. The problem was that the crown fell out the next day. She contacted the dentist to let them know of the situation and the earliest appointment she was given was for a week and a half later. She was told to "chew on one side and to eat soft foods until then." Not sure that was the answer I would be expecting or that it is reasonable to put the burden on the patient when the dental office was responsible for the poor work quality in the first place. We will be looking for a different dentist moving forward. read more

I came here because of the 4 stars this dentist had at the time. Out of the 5 visits I had I only met Dr DE Los Santos once between the 3 other patients he was tending to. I have never been so terrified of going to the dentist. They have OLD equipment, HELLO radiation, they are still using film x-rays! The Dental technician was super nice but did not know what she was doing. My whole mouth was bleeding after x-rays!. I even had to ask her if this amount of pain was usual. I've had x-rays before and had never had that much pain. The real reason for my terrible review is that I JUST got a crown and 2 fillings put in from this dental office in July. When I came back from vacation in Sept I started having major pain in the areas where they had done work. The female dentist that did all my work was not friendly at all. I could tell they were upset that I declined the upgraded oral cleaning and just went with the one my insurance covered. During my cleaning they were very rough and quick and seemed annoyed I declined the deeper cleaning. Let's move on to my 2 fillings. My lower left molars had been causing me pain, the initial consult said it should have had a root canal, she chose to put a HUGE filling on both teeth (200 plus each )but them recommended a crown. My new dentist says she has never heard of a dentist doing this and is confused as to why she did this. I was in so much pain a month after this procedure I just had to spend 1200 dollars to replace the work I already paid for with the old dentist. Lets move on to my crown- as we all know these are a pretty penny, especially full porcelain crowns... I've only had it for 2 months and my new dentist sees a crack and has to replace it. I'm not happy at all everything went here it felt like I was going back 100 years in time. I think they have a lot of medi-cal patients that don't have any other options but to go here. I heard a little 8 to 10 year old girl wailing as I was leaving one day, I would never take my kids here. They do not listen when you are not numb, I let them know I have a severe sensitivity to anesthesia with epinephrine and they STILL gave it to me. IT GIVES ME HEART PALPITATIONS! I was in shock and crying could not talk for 30 minutes. On top of this when she was working on my fillings I could FEEL the whole things. I told her multiple times and she seemed annoyed every time I told her I could feel. This is borderline malpractice. I really can't believe an office like this is still around. If you are looking here like I did RUN away from this place, you'll be wasting all your hard earned money like I did. FYI- I have a super high tolerance (natural child birth) :) for pain and usually never complain so this is really bad if it's coming from me. shame on this Dental practice! The staff and Dr De Los Santos are super! My developmentally disabled sister was a previous patient and sure to changes in her insurance we had to stop seeing him. For four years we struggled to find an office that could provide the service she needs to keep her wanting to see a dentist and work with her insurance. Finally this week we were able to return to his practice. The front office staff, the dentist, assistants and hygienist were as amazing as we remembered. She received her first cleaning (thankfully a deep cleaning) in four years. They were super patient and kind to her. This is an experience that makes going to the dentist worth it! read more

The receptionist David made my father come into the office three times in one day and then turned him away without treatment for his infected tooth because he hadn't got the authorization ahead of time from the insurance company. I called the insurance company, Metlife, and they bent over backward to send confirmation of coverage both by phone and fax. All this receptionist had to do was get my dad into the treatment area and wait for the root canal authorization to come in. They were not going to say no. My father is 87 and needed help badly, and hadn't eaten or slept well for 2 days. He finally told them to forget it and left. I immediately called the insurance company and received a referral for another dentist. You can't make fiction better than this. read more

My first visit was efficient & pleasant . The second and third time around qA a different story. Ive been waiting in the lobby for over 1 hour (both times) for a routine cleaning scheduled at noon. No one bothered to tell me they were behind schedule until I inquired. Simple communication would suffice. Also, they lost my chart at least 2 times. Had I not insisted that they check before giving me any type of treatment...who knows what could have happened. I also didn't appreciate the pushiness of the dentist who insisted that veneers paid for by Care Credit are the only way to go. She discourage traditional methods which makes those who are on a conservative budget feel....well like crap. Thanks for nothing. read more

I had four visits at this dentist to put a crown in. I picked them because of the good ratings on here and because they accepted my insurance. but I never even saw this de los Santos dentist at all-- never even met him. Instead I got the junior staff. Mostly I was pretty unhappy with the way the office is managed. Out of my four appointments I only received one courtesy call for any of them-- and one of the appointments was booked over six weeks in advance with no reminder! Twice I was kept waiting more than an hour past my appointment time before I was seen. This last time took the cake though. They were supposed to put in my crown and replace two fillings, but because one of the staff was on vacation they were "Too busy" and wanted me to come back again for a FIFTH time. Ridiculous! It's not my fault they overbooked when they knew they'd be short-staffed. So I waited an hour, the dentist spent 10 minutes to put my crown on and then brushed me off for the rest of work I had an appointment for. Very disappointed and I won't be going back. I am so amazed as to how incredibly talented is Dr. Victor De Los Santos. His amazing skills has made me look like a new man. I went to 4 different Dentist before coming to Dr. Victor De Los Santos, and each one gave me a different story and price for my situation. Yet none of them ever made me feel completely confident that they could make me better without it costing me an astronomical amount, approximately $45 thousand to $55 thousand, yet when I came to Dr. De Los Santos, he said that though I had a lot of work that needed to be done, he would only charge me a fraction of the costs. He not only has done more then what those other Dr.s had wanted to do, but he has literally transformed my life. I never felt so comfortable going to a Dentist as I have with Dr De Los Santos. Although sometimes the later appts have about a 30 minute wait time, sometimes I dont mind. The office staff are really nice and easy to talk to.
