I don't have dental insurance, so I appreciate that the cost is reasonable for such excellent care. I've been coming here a few years now. The new location is clean and spacious. The front desk staff are great. Going to the dentist can be anxiety inducing. I had a lot of dental work done by the time I turned 18, and had a lot of bad experiences as a kid. This review is specifically about my experience with Jay at the front desk. My cleaning and check-up with the hygienist and doctor went smoothly. Afterwards, I was given an estimate of over $400 to fill two mild cavities. When I said I wanted to take some time to think it over--especially since I don't have dental insurance and cost is a concern--Jay gave me a sour look and said, "What do you mean? Think about it? You need to get this done." I felt pressured and uncomfortable. Two small cavities aren't an urgent or life-threatening issue, but Jay made me feel bad for wanting to pause and consider my options. I felt pushed to sign the estimate, and only later she took me into a separate space to explain Cherry as a payment plan option. I regret not standing my ground and clearly reaffirming that I needed time to think it over because I was so caught off guard and flustered by her initial attitude. I understand they have a business to run, but that doesn't justify pressuring patients into making immediate decisions. Several other low reviews here also mention this same pushy attitude in the office. In hindsight, I probably should have stopped coming here earlier. A few months ago, my sister had to go through a lengthy phone call to explain she had already paid for a treatment the office mistakenly claimed was unpaid. On top of that, the office used to be responsive via text, but I received no reply when I tried to confirm cancellation of an upcoming appointment. I called and spoke with Kristy to confirm. Thankfully she was helpful and understanding of my decision to no longer return to this office. COMMENT: Thank you for your response - I appreciate the clinical team. However, I have to highlight that what I experienced from Jay did not feel like "passionate patient care," but rather shaming and unnecessarily pressuring. If Jay had simply said something like, "No worries I understand you want to think it over and explore your options--just keep in mind that it's generally better to treat cavities earlier to avoid complications," I wouldn't have felt the need to leave this review. Instead, her tone and words made me feel as though I was crazy for not agreeing to sign the estimate on the spot. The care I use to get with and without my insurance was great, I use to take my daughter here aswell, when my other children got older and had all their teeth to see a dentist I called an wanted them to see Dr Tran aswell because she is a thorough excellent Dr in her practice, I was informed she doesn't take new patients and can not grandfather my other children in, that only my oldest and myself could keep going to Dr Tran. So I chose to leave and to find a different office that would see all my children not just 1. Love the staff. Dr. Tran, gloria and the rest of the team are great. They cancelled two appointments within a week. Cancelled my first appointment wanting to reschedule one month out. I thought that was unreasonable since I just made the appointment. So, during Covid, even with dental benefits, I avoided going, period. Then one day, I accidentally walk into this office; not paying attention while on my phone thinking I was walking into the Ramen joint that's actually next door. So, after lunch, I decide, to see if my dental coverage was good there. It was and an appointment was scheduled. I appreciate the reminder text messages. Some find them annoying but for me, a great reminder as I sometimes get wrapped up with what I'm doing and forget and or run late. Walking in, first time paperwork. The usual. Wait a few minutes then called back. Anh was my hygienist. She was great. Handled the x-rays and cleaning. Friendly. Gentle. Informative and nice. Dr. Tran was available and stopped in and actually involved herself with her front office regarding questions I had and when I asked for additional visits beyond my coverage. Awesome of her to partake on that level. This was just a cleaning so not much more that I can comment on. It was a smooth uneventful experience. My visit was top notch. The good: The office clean and the area the office is in is nice. Parking is good too. The doctors/people that do the cleanings and X-rays were helpful and felt considerate to check if I was in pain during the cleanings and fillings. The not-so good: I had bone loss in my lower part of my mouth, so they wanted me to come in every three months. At some point it kind of felt excessive and I expressed that. The dentist is painful and I definitely am not a fan of pain. I know they are there to help but after expressing that, it felt like everyone that helped me was informed that I didn't want to come in that often and just repeated the same thing, to get me to come in. It kind of turned me off to this place a little. Before I had gone to this office, I didn't go to a dentist for awhile. So, to go from 0 times to every three months was not easy. On top of that, I paid what they told me to pay and months later they sent me a bill via email and through the mail for $13 and something cents. When I called to see where this came from, there voicemail was full or not set up. I also texted to get that info and nothing. I'm fine to pay $13 but no explanation and they just want me to send my credit card info in the mail with no detailed info, at all. Just all seems a little unprofessional. read more

I'm so impressed with this business. All the Drs and staff are professional, knowledgeable, and always helpful. Dr Tran took the time to introduce herself to me on my first visit. I had two fillings and a crown done without any discomfort and zero pain! My procedures were explained to me, and they asked me questions to be sure I understood, AND they waited for my response. I avoided dentist offices pretty heavily after being traumatized as a kid with poor insurance and just terrible experiences. It's a world of difference having good insurance but even more so when you find the best dentist. I've been going to Dr. Tammy Tran for almost 4 years when I needed all my major work finally planned out and done. Dr. Tran and her entire office are very welcoming and thoughtful from the first intake appointment. Creating a treatment plan, finding specialists when needed for other work and all the payments/scheduling is a lot easier with this team. I'm beyond happy to have completed my treatment plan with her, thanks to their openness to working around my insurance and work schedule. Special shoutout to not only Dr. Tammy Tran herself (the perfectionist that she is) but also to Gloria for walking me through all my options and easing my worry with money, to Vanessa and Shayna for letting me wear my airpods through the long and loud appointments, offering me the tv remote, and of course assisting from x-rays to cementing and the occasional simple cleaning (and for chatting with me, keeps my mind off the anxiety of being in the chair haha). The girls at the reception are always on top of your appointments, and they make sure to call or text a day or two before your appointment. Getting extensive dental treatments has been part of my life since I can't remember. So I can safely say I have met countless Drs. throughout the years, but none of them compare to Dr.Tran. I was treated with kindness and patience from my very initial call to schedule my first appointment, until three months later at almost the end of my treatments. I was confused by reviews about the front desk staff being incompetent, my experience couldn't be more different. I got calls, emails, and texts before each appointment as reminders, and each employee has been extremely accommodating and responsive whenever I had questions or needed to change appointment dates. They even called me whenever there were any cancellations so that I could finish my treatment as soon as possible. I don't have dental insurance and found that the prices were pretty reasonable. After my first assessment, Gloria sat down with me and went over the details of each tooth, what needed to be done, the pricing, and many more details that no other dentist's office has ever given me. She even gave me a discount to help me with the cost of the treatment and told me multiple times I was welcome to bring my husband in so we could go over the cost together, again. You can't get more personable than that! All the Drs. are great, but Dr. Tran is exceptional. She is so gentle, really cares about your comfort, and makes sure you are not feeling any pain. It really makes a whole lot of difference when you are treated by a Dr. you can see really cares about your well-being. She made this extensive treatment pleasant, and I am so happy I have such a competent person looking after my teeth now. Found this place after I relocated to SoCal. My mom goes here and really likes it, so I decided to give it a try. All the staff is friendly, the service is quick several dentist have you waiting, not this place your appointment time is not far from when you are actually seen by the staff which is refreshing. They are also very flexible working with your schedule which I found nice, so I didn't have to take a whole day off of work I could start early or late instead of missing the whole day. They got me in quickly and addressed the many many issues with my mouth, mostly cavities, within a quick timeframe. They are very upfront with their treatment recommendations and pricing which is refreshing. All staff that has treated me has been very nice and proficient at their jobs. I am SO happy that I switched from my previous dentist to Dr. Tran. She is extremely gentle, professional, timely, and the services are very reasonably priced with Delta Dental (I can't speak for other insurance). The office is very clean and neat and the semi-open floor plan doesn't make you feel claustrophobic like some dental offices, but it also provides adequate privacy. No one here has ever shamed me for my dental problems like my last dentist. They are welcoming and understanding and EXTREMELY well organized and efficient. They are ready for me almost immediately when I arrive which I have never experienced at any dentist or orthodontist in the past. I rarely have trouble booking an appointment within the following week if needed. Dr. Tran is very precise and takes the time to get it perfect. She is still surprisingly fast though! She wears a light on her forehead in most cases, which is much more pleasant for the patient rather than having the large mobile light shining directly into their eyes the whole time. She is very efficient and doesn't spend ages making small talk or wasting your time which I appreciate, although she is very personable as are all her staff. As far as I know, she is the only female head of a dental practice in Long Beach. Almost all of the employees are women and people of color and the atmosphere seems very welcoming to those of all backgrounds. The office is also in a very convenient location in Bixby Knolls, has always had parking available when I've been there, and is right next to a very yummy ramen restaurant which I consider a big plus! read more

Let's face it, the reality of going to the dentist can be dreadful. I myself was one of those people who hated going to the dentist , but after coming to Dr.Trans office I was at ease. The staffs there are very friendly and helpful. The dental hygienist are very attentive to your needs, will periodically check if you are okay; as so as Dr Tran. She makes the dental process very simple and painless. Dr. Tran and her staffs have helped me worked around my work schedule along with notifying me if there's early appointments opens up. Came here for a cleaning, they suggested a "deep clean" I guess the difference is they use small drills vs just a pick. Dr. Tran then started my cleaning, before hand they mentioned I had a crack in my molar(found this odd) since I never noticed it or had any pain associated with a cracked tooth. Proceeding my cleaning I noticed a lot of Smokey smell going on (my mouth was numbed btw). Once finished I went off home and started eating when the numbing agent wore off, then had the biggest pain ever! My molar was chipped and felt really sharp! Now food gets stuck in between my cracked molar and not cracked molar all the time! Be cautious of this place if you just want a cleaning!! Response: You definitely failed to tell me that my tooth could chip if I got a cleaning! Why would I say yes to that? You also failed to tell me it chipped(you tried playing it off as it was just a lot of food stuck in there/plaque). All that I wanted was a cleaning if you knew my tooth was "cracked" why would you drill onto it intentionally knowing it would chip away. Oh wait for further insurance money and more work. They were also very pushy on getting more work done before my tooth was chipped when I made it very clear I only wanted a cleaning. (How does a cleaning chip a tooth?!) Btw I had no signs or symptoms of a cracked molar/tooth ever before my appointment. read more

My friend recommended Dr. Tran so I made an appointment. I had to get a lot of work done. The team did a really good job at explaining everything that needed to be done, and scheduled me root canal for me at another office, which was extremely helpful. Had a wonderful experience at Dr. Tran's dental office today. The front desk staff smiles and are sweet and the office is so clean. Anh Was my hygienist and probably the most thorough cleaning I've ever had. I probably spent about an hour with her and then Dr. Tran came in and took a look at my teeth didn't try to sell me anything but just had suggestions for my sensitive teeth and they kindly did a treatment for my sensitive teeth. I've never been offered a treatment for my sensitive teeth let alone one that's just part of a routine check up and doesn't cost any more. I am definitely looking forward to My next appointment in six months. Sidenote, I needed a new dentist because mine suddenly passed away and I really loved him. But the office wasn't as fresh and clean and I didn't love the hygienist. Then the office was bought by another provider and my experience just wasn't the same. Oh and one more thing, as a registered nurse I am such a Cleaning and disinfecting freak.
