The dentists are amazing, but so are the dental assistants and hygienists. Everyone is so kind, patient, and genuinely good at what they do. Going to the dentist isn't exactly something people look forward to, but somehow they make you feel comfortable every single time. You can tell they truly care about their patients, and that makes all the difference. BEWARE OF LONG BEACH SMILES at 5533 Stearns Street in Long Beach!!! They are committing insurance fraud and defrauding their customers as well. They not only overcharged me for services that were capped by my insurance but their mismanagement of my account with a secondary lender caused my credit rating to plummet. If you have an HMO Dental Plan, they are prohibited from charging anything over the "Maximum Allowable Charges" that are set by their "capitation" agreement with the insurance company. I was overcharged by $3,388 for dental work and only found out because I spoke with the insurance company the OTHER time they tried to overcharge me. I only found out after demanding itemized receipts and comparing them with the fees on the Delta Dental website. Besides the issue with the outside lender, I have overpaid them $844.00 out of pocket and they refuse to pay the money back. I will be taking them to court but can only imagine how many more people they have done this to. If you have ever gone to Long Beach Smiles at 5555E. Been coming here since 2019. I had my teeth cleaning appointment December 2025. I had to pay $240 out of pocket with a PPO insurance (weird because I never paid this much before but whatever). Today, I get a text and email stating I have a balance of $40 (again weird). So I login to my smiles dentistry account and saw that they BILLED $2443 to my insurance and after insurance, I had a balance of $40 I needed to pay off. I've been a patient here for over 3 years, but unfortunately, the quality of service has steadily declined. Nearly every visit, they run behind schedule and often end up rescheduling my cleaning due to poor time management. At my most recent appointment, I waited for over an hour and a half without being seen for either my cleaning or exam. It wasn't until I voiced my frustration that they finally did my exam and cleaning and even then, the experience felt rushed and careless. My cleaning was sloppy, water was spilled all over me, and the entire visit felt more like an inconvenience to them than a standard of care. This isn't the first time I've had to complain just to be seen, and at this point, I'm seriously reconsidering whether I'll continue coming here. In addition, for my last scheduled visit I always schedule my 6-month follow-up at the end of each visit and immediately add it to my calendar while still in the office. At my last visit, I arrived on time only to be told there was no record of my appointment. The front desk insisted I should have known it wasn't booked because I never received a confirmation or reminder. I explained that my calendar clearly showed the appointment, and it lined up exactly 6 months after my last visit. After some back and forth, they eventually fit me in, but only after I pushed back. My experiences leave me questioning how often this happens and whether they prioritize patient service or simply expect people to go along with their mismanagement. read more

My husband recently got some work done here that needs to be done is sessions. Cool. Understandable. We paid in full for all treatments which was almost $4k AFTER our insurance. Now when I'm trying to schedule his last appointment, I can never get someone on the phone and I emailed and have not received a response. I've been a patient at LB Smiles for years and have always received excellent care from the dentist and hygienist. Unfortunately, the billing department has been consistently unresponsive, and customer service seems to have declined recently. After my recent visit for a routine cleaning, I had to call my insurer myself to verify coverage since the receptionist was busy. Delta Dental confirmed the services were preventive and should not have been subject to a deductible. Although another staff assured me I'd be refunded, I've yet to receive that billing refund. From the inattentiveness of the front desk from the time I entered, a poor fit and finish of the crown, and the incorrect billing months later I am overall unsatisfied. If you love bargaining and car shopping, then you'll enjoy Long Beach Smiles and other Smile Generation dentistries. I attended Candlewood Smiles in Lakewood for years. In the past 2-3 years I felt that when it came to discussing payment of services not covered by my insurance, I was being quoted ridiculous amounts. When I would say I couldn't afford it, the bargaining would begin. "Well, how much can you afford?" or "If you donate to one of our causes we can take $100 off." or "We can take $50 off this service or another $20 off that service." These conversations would leave me feeling like I was shopping for a car while trying not to be taken advantage of by a shady salesperson. In May of 2025 I finally decided to change to a new dentistry, Long Beach Smiles. I should have known this would be a mistake because it's a part of the same network. This office was even more awful when it came to the outrage quotes. I was quoted almost $3k for work that needed to get done. I couldn't believe it. What is the point of having insurance then? In the quote they have an estimated fee, primary, secondary, and patient. I am not fluent in dental billing so I called my provider and asked them to explain the quote and what is actually covered. NOTE: Please call your provider and ask coverage questions. This is their job and they are very knowledgeable and helpful. My provider suggested that I request a PREDETERMINATION, which is an estimate from your insurance not the dental office. A copy of the predetermination is mailed out to both you and the dental office. Suffice it to say I was very upset as there was a significant difference between the dental office quote and what the predetermination stated my out of pocket cost should be. Prior to this I called the billing manager at LB Smiles (Abby?) to discuss my concerns because I had an appointment the next day and was hoping to figure out the billing before going in. I am STILL waiting for her call back. I definitely cancelled my appointment and will never be back. DISCLAIMER: The actual services provided by the dentists at Candlewood and LB Smiles was great. No complaints. The issues with their billing managers and their dishonesty is terrible. I have found a dentist office that is not part of the Smile Generation. I have had a crazy few weeks since cracking a tooth while eating cherries!! That was on a Thursday night during our grandkids' swimming lessons! I took the chance on calling the office, though it was 6:57PM, thinking I would get the Answering Service or voicemail. Was I ever thrilled when Desireé actually answered after I held a bit! She was able to make an appointment the next morning at 11:30AM with my dentist!! WHAT A RELIEF!! I was VERY happy that Dr. Robert Nochez and Long Beach Smiles Dentistry was able to fit me in on such short notice the very next day! It ended up being a root canal and a crown because of the vertical cracking of the tooth but at least it wasn't an implant!! And this is even crazier, the next week, a crown I have had for many years feel out in the sink I the morning while I was water flossing! I figured it would be no big deal and they could just re-cement it but nope--there was decay next to the gum and they had to clean it up and I needed another crown since the margins no longer match. Again, it was great that they were able to fit me in when I called that morning; and with my doctor, once again! Today, it's taking a long time. We have waited for 55 mins. The kids teeth cleaning and check up doesn't even take that long!!! Originally, so gave this place a 5 star, but today, the number of stars is dropping. No one should wait this long. We have 2 kids waiting, that's time wasted. One staff member checked on us at 30 mins and 45 mins, but no apology or anything. We feel unseen! This is not okay! LB Smiles Dentistry has a clean and quiet environment. The staff is usually pretty cordial. You come in, check in and wait to be called. Most of the time, the wait ranges fe 15-30 minutes. It's easy to change and make appts. I love my oral hygienist Nancy (she's the best! Very thorough) and Dr. Chung. My husband sees Dr. Abeullah, she's also super thorough and has a bed side manner. My son sees Dr. Noches. Overall, the staff is great. If you are looking for a great dental office, come here! They just expanded the office and is now doubled in size. Not all dentists are A students. Clearly, there are C dentists, and since C is passing, that unfortunately affects the quality of their work. A crown they placed on my right back tooth in 2023 has fallen off three times--the most recent being yesterday, Saturday, just one day after they reattached it! To make matters worse, during the last procedure, the dentist didn't place it correctly the first time. He had to shave it down, yet even after that, it still wasn't sitting right. And now, here we are again--the crown has come off. At this point, it's beyond frustrating. A crown should stay put for years, not days. I have been waiting weeks to get dental care since I had no job or insurance until now. Made an appt online for 4:00 pm today, the latest time so I would not have to leave work so early. I work 9-5 so could not come any sooner. Showed up at 3:50 and was told my appt was at 2:00 pm and I did not show up. I showed office staff my email confirmation for 4:00 and 3 separate texts confirming my appt for 4:00 today. I confirmed it on Monday by replying YES. There is no way I would have made an appt at 2:00pm. When I showed them my texts from them, they only showed me their screen showing 2:00. I have sympathy for them trying to work with an electronic system that just does not work, but there is no excuse for trying to blame me for not showing up for an appt I never made. Of course they said they were trying to help me but since there was no room to be seen means I could not see a dentist today. Therefore, they really could not help me. As it turned out, I left work over an hour early to make it here on time and never saw a dentist. What they should have done is apologize for the error instead of getting defensive and blaming me! I am sure the dentists here are all great and deserve an efficient scheduling software that works. Take my advice and find another dental group with a working scheduling system. Wow! A fantastic team experience with DDS Kevin Chung leading the group to help me with my dental care. I needed a crown and a deep cleaning which were taken care of immediately. Dr. Chung explained the process in detail and was open to questions while explaining the x-rays and photos. He prepped my tooth for the crown and provided a temporary one, promising to come back in two days to have a permanent crown applied. Then he introduced me to Elizabeth, a dental hygienist, who provided the detailed deep cleaning that I needed. She worked tirelessly and was entertaining in her stories while she worked on my cleaning. I returned in two days for the root canal, which was done efficiently and with my comfort levels checked continuously, as has been the case with all my care here. This office is a SCAM. They have their sales pitch down to a T and prey on vulnerable people to pay ridiculous amounts for unnecessary treatment. At first, everything seemed nice. I went in, the lady who took my x-rays were nice. After that, everything that followed seemed fishy and my gut instinct was right. Once the dentist Roberto Nochez came in he put a screen right in front of my face, he proceeded to look at my teeth and tell me I have early periondititis and that it was irreversible, that I needed scaling, root planing & irrigation and two onlays on my teeth. After the dentist looked at my teeth and gave me his "spiel" which seemed very rehearsed and inauthentic. He had zero regard for my feelings, and never once bothered to say this is very common among adults. He was trying to manipulate and scare me into getting his "prescribed treatments" because I'm a young girl in my 20s and he thought I would really fall for it. Mind you, I've been to the dentist twice a year my whole life, and just recently switched to HMO after turning 26. I've had a cavity "on watch" for about 5 years, but my other two dentist offices said that it was nothing to worry about and when the time comes they'll give me a filling. Never have any of my other dentists told me I had gum disease of any sort. I've had braces, my teeth are white, my gums healthy, and I've always been told how beautiful my teeth are! Afterwards, they sent in a lady from the finance department to tell me after insurance, my onlays would be $650 per tooth. And that the scaling & root planing cost would be $644 that day. After I declined the "prescribed" treatment and just asked for the included cleaning, the lady responded "Sorry but since the doctor already prescribed this treatment, we normally can't do the included cleaning because if anything were to go wrong the liability would fall on us". And I said, okay well can you ask the doctor? She came back and said the doctor approved the included cleaning. For about 10 minutes I waited in the seat for a hygienist to come in, and a young assistant came in slamming the materials around and being very rough. At that point became very uncomfortable and just left the office. Anyways, I'm off to get a second opinion but I wish I would've taken a better look at reviews before coming here. This place is a SCAM. Please find another dentist's office and save your money (and your TEETH). I rarely leave reviews, but I must warn everyone about this place. I originally went into Long Beach Smiles in late October for an emergency. A piece of my molar broke due to my wisdom tooth pushing against it. I knew the molar would need a root canal and the wisdom tooth would need to be extracted. Rajkumar Jaisingh is the dentist who examined me. He took x-rays and examined my mouth. He informed me that my molar would need to be extracted, which didn't sound right at all. He insisted that the molar could not be saved. He also confirmed the wisdom tooth needed to be extracted. I applied for credit while in the Long Beach Smiles office and got approved for a $4,000.00 limit. After that, I received a quote for the future procedures that totaled over $2,000.00, and that's with Delta Dental PPO insurance (in-network). Literally over $2000 for 2 teeth to be extracted, which is ridiculous. While reviewing the quote I saw charges for anesthesia. I've had a wisdom tooth removed and root canal before. I never needed to be sedated. At the MOST, I was given numbing shots and the procedures were completed with no issue. When I asked Dr. Jaisingh about this, he insisted that the expensive anesthesia was necessary. I was still very skeptical, but we set up my future appointment and I left. I visited another dental office that same week to get a second opinion, and my suspicions were confirmed. My molar was easily able to be saved and did not have to be removed. I also got my wisdom tooth extracted. Thanks to the second opinion I got a root canal, new crown, and my wisdom tooth extracted all totaled under $1,000. Also, I did not need to be sedated with anesthesia. The dentist used numbing shots. A few days after my visit to Long Beach Smiles, I was informed that I had a bill of $111.00. My insurance company mailed a check to me to cover the balance. I delivered the check to the Long Beach Smiles office and was told that the balance would be cleared. I asked for written confirmation but was told they didn't have anything at that moment since the check would take some time to process. Since then, I've been contacted by their office 3 times regarding the balance. Each time I told them the check had already been delivered. I was still being contacted 2 full weeks AFTER delivering the check to their office. On week #3 I went back into their office and requested a receipt or printout stating that my account was paid in full. AGAIN, I was informed that they couldn't provide anything. The receptionist ended up having to send me an email stating my balance is paid in full. I have NEVER been to a place of business that can't provide an official receipt of payment. Please avoid this shady place if you can. There are way too many other dentists in the Long Beach area for you to come here and get scammed for your hard-earned money. WARNING! First of all, the dental staff (actual dentist, hygienist, assistant) that perform my dental work & exams have been nothing but great. Unfortunately, the office and billing staff are a group of incompetent and rude people that bring me to give this place a 1-star rating-I'd give it 0 if I could. I first started coming here when I was still a dependent using my parents insurance and everything was fine since of course the greedy little bastards were getting their payout. However as soon as I got a new job with my own insurance I updated all my information including removing my parents insurance from my profile since I was no longer valid on there. Well of course the first time I come in on my own insurance the office staff is super rude to me and other people checking in, and starts huffing that they couldn't confirm my insurance because they "weren't answering." Mind you it had been a year since I had added my proper insurance information and they had 12 months to verify. Everything seemed fine until my mother received not only a bill for my services but also the letter stating what procedures I received, a CLEAR HIPAA VIOLATION. I had kept requesting they remove my parents insurance form my profile and they REFUSED to do so for another year after this. The greedy billing people not only billed MY insurance but also my parents-despite me removing them and also being over the age of 26, so legally they shouldn't have gotten paid twice. Cue a year later to September 2024, a mere month ago. They have finally removed my parents insurance from my account. I go in for my exam, brand new office staff that is flat out rude to everyone and on their phones ignoring people waiting to check in. I pay my copay up front, ask for an emailed receipt. I end up needing to receive treatment and pay at the end of my visit and ask for another emailed receipt. When explaining the pricing and insurance coverage of course the billing lady was pushing for me to get all the unnecessary expenses-$900 for a nightguard is highway robbery when I can get one for $50 elsewhere. An hour later my mother asks if I made payments at this dentist because she received some receipts as well as statement of services-second hipaa violation. They decided to email HER MY receipts that included my credit card information as well as my health violation. I go into the office to get this cleared up and the front desk person and billing lady ran around frantic because they couldn't figure out what happened. Well, after so many times of requesting to remove my parents defunct insurance from my profile they decided to add my mother as my guarantor in my account WITHOUT my CONSENT. and despite it being ME who made the payment they sent her the receipts. They removed it, printed out a receipt for me (I demanded a printed copy because I just knew this would only be the beginning of more mess ups on their end, tho they tried to get out of it saying they couldn't get it to print) and the billing lady I believe her name was Abby promised to email me a receipt that same day as well. That was on 9/20. I was later alerted that I had a bill from them on my profile- which was what I had ALREADY PAID. I call on 9/25 and speak to Randy who was extremely rude and put me on hold for 10 minutes to check where the billing lady was just to say she was in a meeting supposedly and would call me back that same day. I explained I had already paid and I never got the receipt, to which he said it now takes them supposedly 24 hours to get a receipt. I pointed out it had already been 3 business days and he cut me off and said they'd call back. They never did. I ended up calling about 8 times over the course of the next 3 weeks because I didn't want to get sent to collections like other reviews said over their own mistake. Each time I was "assured" by the office staff that I would receive a call back that day and they'd have my account fixed. I want to mention that this office 100% will not answer your phone call based on seeing your number-despite calling during business hours right when they opened I was put to the "supporting office" and witnessed them ignoring my moms call when I was there in person. I ended up speaking to Briana, who said she'd fix the issue and never did. And on 10/4 I had the displeasure of speaking to Erica who was rude. She stated that she would email me receipt which she never did, and said that she supposedly got a manager to close out my bill and fix my account and said my balance of $0 should be reflected. She lied. The only thing she actually did that I asked and she said she'd do was cancel my future appointments at this shit hole.
