Woww !! No words can describe how happy I was with VickyC5 and her team. She showed up early to the hotel to start and was there through the first look photos. Her bridal makeup is amazing and knowledge of skincare is impressive too! I cant wait to sign up to take makeup lessons from her as well. I highly recommend going to VickyC5 if you want to have the best bridal wedding experience. read more

As a COVID bride (like many of you out there) I had a tiny family wedding with 10 people at home and our big dream ceremony was pushed out a year later. Right before COVID hit, we were extremely lucky to have had a photo shoot with different wedding dresses, our regular clothes, and even Korean traditional wear! Everything from hair, make-up, and dress was so special and perfect. The great news? You can do it too! For the COVID brides out there, having access to photos that resemble your dream wedding can bring you so much joy through a really difficult time for everyone. VickyC5 is THE BEST OF THE BEST. Their incredible make-up and hair skills, client care, communications, and above all, their expertise in the wedding industry is second to none. Couldn't recommend them more highly. read more

I had an amazing experience with VickyC5 for my hair and makeup. They were punctual and helped make the entire process stress-free on my big day. I am not someone who often wears makeup, so I requested Iarum and Hera to make me look like the best version of me - and they did! I received many compliments on how glowing I looked, and I couldn't have been happier with the results. read more

I had a VERY traumatic experience with VickyC5 for my wedding day and it's taken a long time for me to muster up the courage to say how I actually feel about what was done to me. I have never written a bad review in my life but this is killing me inside. My first mistake was believing that a miracle would happen after I had a bad trial and the makeup artist convinced me that things would be much better on my wedding day and she would make all these changes and somehow pull of a miracle.. I wish I just spent the extra money on a different trial and went with someone else in hind sight. Leading up to the wedding, they INSISTED we pay the gratuity up front before the services were even done.. and my husband had to end up speaking with them so that they could allow us to the pay the gratuity the DAY OF my wedding instead of before. Why does it make sense to pay the tip before anything is even done? Since they "allowed" me to pay gratuity the day of instead of before, they demanded I provide breakfast and drinks to their artists which I would have already done but find it ridiculous that they demanded that. Honestly, I have a hard time reliving what happened on my wedding day and it still brings me to tears. The very first thing she did was put HOT PINK eye shadow on my eyes, which was never discussed or in any of the inspo photos that I shared with them. Immediately I told them no and IF we even did pink, it would have to be a soft blush pink. But I did not want pink to begin with. After a while, she said she had to move on to my hair and come back to finish my makeup... the end result was I looked like I had no makeup on, NO BLUSH, HORRIBLE CATEYE LINER that I could have done better myself (I wish I just washed it all off and did it myself) but we had no time. The hair was the worst part. They took forever to make my freshly washed, clean hair look flat and oily and matted to my head with hair wax.. she kept using more and more hair wax!! Why?!? They did not blend in my extensions and half was straight and half was bent into messy cringes that were all tangled together. It looked like a birds nest. It was obvious I had extensions in because there was an obvious bulge from where they started. It seriously makes me cry. I told them I wanted my hair soft and wavy and natural and they gave me the complete opposite. I kept telling them to fix it but so much time was spent and nothing was getting better because she just didn't have the skill set to do it. I HAD to move on eventually because of time and the schedule. I even missed my own rehearsal because she was still "working on my hair." Worst of all, we paid them the full gratuity amount which they did not deserve but I did not have the time to process everything and argue with them on my wedding day. And their services were actually more expensive than others that I had considered. VickyC5 is the worst and most regrettable decision of my life. I am traumatized and I can't even look at my own wedding photos. I hope this saves any future brides from going through what I went through. And I hope by telling my story I will finally have some peace with this and move on. As brides, we put such high expectations on ourselves of what we want to look like on our special day and it is beyond disappointing that this is what I have to accept and look back on. read more

Place is run like a sorority. Don't upset them in anyway or you'll get jacked up make up job on your wedding day. Unprofessional and painfully greedy. Don't take it out on your nice customers who unfortunately already fully paid for your mediocre service. Do your research, there are plenty of good makeup artists who are competent. I got better looks at the Sephora make up run and that was free. I also had my trial done at another place and had a completely different experience. Here are my lesson learned: 1. Do your research. 2. Don't believe the hype and believe all the "positive" reviews. All the relevant reviews have either been removed or hidden. It's hard to forget your traumatic experience and I still have hard time looking at my wedding photos but I only try to focus on the good. I've moved beyond my experience because life is really too short to focus on toxic experiences. But one thing for sure, every bad experiences teaches you a lesson and grow you as a decent human being. How else would you know what indecent intentions, morally bankrupt and toxic behaviors feel like. read more

This place is great. My fiance picked them to do her hair and makeup for our wedding at a Korean wedding expo. There's main location is here in midtown. We planned our photo engagement session with our photographer and we stopped here a few hours before to get glammed up. Well not me. I already look goooood ;) I was bored having to wait so they allowed me to catch some ZZZ in one of the facial's room. Before we left the makeup person touched up my face with some powder and gelled me hair for free. They did a great job with my Boo Boo's hair and makeup. We shot at Central park and the meat packing district in 90 degree weather and our hair was still good and her makeup lasted many hours after the photos were done. I understand that planning a wedding is expensive and a lot people is going in to try to under cut the price of many vendors. I don't think its worth pissing off or go cheap on a vendor such as the makeup and hair person since photos and how you look will be what people will remember. This session was around $200 and we tipped $20 cash to each stylist. I expect them so a banging job on the wedding day as well. I am also having them to do up the bridal party as well. So, my beautiful Boo Boo will be surrounded with her friends who also feel beautiful. read more

Hera did my hair and makeup for my wedding in September 2018 and I was very happy with her work. They are clearly veterans in this industry especially for Asian hair/makeup. Their prices are pretty steep but there are few brides that want to take a bet when it comes to their wedding. I didn't do a trial and booked VickyC5 after hearing numerous testimonials from many of my acquaintances. I showed Hera a few pictures but for the most part I entrusted her expertise - I think she did a great job executing the natural look I wanted. I think the most important thing for the bride is her hair/makeup person's confidence, professionalism and positive attitude - they have all of these qualities and made me feel very calm (when I could've been very stressed). One thing - they aren't as responsive to emails as they could be. Contacting them may require a phone call. read more

I had the pleasure of working with Yoomi and Arum's team of 4 artists for my wedding on 07/28/2018. My initial conversation with VickyC5 was a bit rocky but after talking to Vicky herself, we decided to work with her team of artists. Yes, Vicky can seem a bit strong but she definitely has the experience and the knowledge to make your big day a dream. Unfortunately, I don't think you can choose your artists but I am so happy to have worked with my team! If you want the no-makeup/natural beauty makeup, Arum is the artist you are looking for. She is super adorable and fun! She will definitely make you laugh while she does your makeup. Yoomi (one of the managers at VickyC5) was in charge of my bridal hair. I showed her 3-5 different hairstyles that I wanted to try. Despite taking 3 trials to get my dream hair look (because I was indecisive), she incorporated her styles to create the bridal look that would look good with my facial features and makeup. Yoomi will make you feel right at home and guide you through what would look best based on your personality and features. The trials were great but they really brought their A-game on the wedding day. VickyC5 team arrived at 5:45 AM to get everything set up and ready to go by the scheduled time. The team was able to get 6 ladies (bride and 5 bridesmaids) by 9 AM and 2 mothers by 10 AM for photos. We were a bit pressed for time but they did not drop quality to rush everyone's makeup and hair. I'm really happy how gorgeous and flawless everyone ended up looking that day! I cannot express how thankful I am for the beautiful work! Thank you Yoomi and Arum for your fantastic work! read more

They will make your BIG day even more special. I wish I could give them 100 stars because they deserve it! I was very happy the entire time here. They made my wedding so special. I had such a great experience here. The best part was that they were ready to share my special day. They were truly happy for me. This makes them different from any other make-up places. They were so friendly, kind and lovely. I was impressed by their sincerity and passion for work. Special thanks to Hera, Agnes and Jessica. The manager, Hera, did a really good job with my make-up and hair. She was a sweetheart and willing to help me a lot. She made me smile the entire time and I was already so happy before my ceremony. She was like my big sister!! She is awesome. Especially, my mom was very happy with the result. She showed some pictures from my brother's wedding and they said they could do much better than that. And they did!!! Of course, my sister was happy with her make-up and hair too!! My mother-in-law and sister-in-law too!! Agnes, thank you for your make-up work! And Jessica, thank you for your hair work! Good job!! I feel so grateful I came to VickyC5. It was totally worth it!! Trust me. This place means more than just make-up place. I used VickyC5 for my wedding in October 2013 in Jersey City, NJ. Vicky and Amy did our (bride and 4 bridesmaids) hair and makeup. I cannot overstate how happy I am with my decision to rely on VickyC5 on one of my most important days of my life. Vicky did my engagement shoot makeup and I scheduled a trial with Amy months before my wedding, so I knew I was in good hands for my wedding day. They are so talented at what they do, professional, and so sweet to my bridal party and my family. Vicky and Amy created the perfect look for my day. They even went above and beyond and stayed later than scheduled to give me second look for the reception after they saw my reception dress hanging in the hotel room. Their bridal package is pricier than other Asian bridal hair/makeup artists but it is as full service as it gets, and I believe that they truly are head and shoulders above the rest of the rest. Thanks again for making my wedding day incredible. read more

My daughter and I went for a mother-daughter makeup session for my daughter's upcoming 25th birthday. Areum (not sure about spelling) was extremely knowledgeable and skillful. She was able to answer questions and guide us in learning how to apply makeup to achieve a more natural look. On top of that, she was very friendly and not condescending in any way. We had a really fun time, and both of us feel better equipped to take care of our skin and use make up more effectively. read more

I honestly did not put hair and makeup as my "priority" for my wedding planning since I don't wear much makeup (literally only wear eyeliner and that's it!). So I was set with another artist and did the trial and it was such a horrific failure that I realized how important hair and makeup is! Finding an artist that understands my face (asian/korean), and knowing what will look good and to enhance what I have is probably most important thing for your big day. Haha.. So I emailed and they have given me a quote that is pretty reasonable and after I did the trial I was blown away! My artist was Tory, and she did such an incredible job. Very light, still looks extremely natural but made me feel like a bride. I had 6 bridesmaid and a mom + me for the hair and makeup service, and we had to get ready pretty early. They came very on time! A little early even around 6:20 am! I thought it was 3 artist but 4 (Including tory) artists came. They were EXTREMELY FAST AND FRIENDLY. All my girls were done and ready to go way before the scheduled time. The makeup & hair also stayed on the whole day from 11am to 10pm eventhough I cried so much and sweated alot from dancing. They are worth every penny! They also have a bridal boutique in bayside for dress rentals! Thank you thank you! read more

New Customers - BEWARE!! Brides STAND FAR AWAY!!!!! This vendor will lure you in with a great deal and change the terms on you. 1) They pressure you with one of their $1000 packages for your party 2) Then when you try to change something that is within the contract, they try to extort more money from you. They will make up excuse to justify their "additional" charges and really have you by the balls if your event date is close!! Apparently any borough outside of Manhattan is not NYC and incurs a $300 charge! DONT TRUST THEM! Learn from my example! They tie you in with a non-refundable deposit of $300 when honest and honorable vendors only charge like $100. Also you have to pay them 10 days in advance but it's not in the contract. There is a representative named Michael who is a drama queen himself. He basically called me the issue and hung up on me. There was no return call to apologize for his performance over the phone. They don't work with you - they want your cash!!! I went fishing and asked around of friends of friends and VickyC5 really use underhanded schemes like leave early on your wedding date. Bride to Brides!! KEEP AWAY! Don't Trust them! If they cared about customer service and their reputation, someone would have called me to apologize. I am a pretty easy going bride but when someone try to redefine the definition of what NYC is and ignores your contract --- it's hard to take offense! read more

Even though it's been almost a year since my wedding, I continue to visit Vicky c5 on a monthly basis for my eyelashes, massages and makeup/hair for events. I had such a good experience that I have referred them to my friends getting married, who have also been very happy with their work. Since I already wrote a general review, today I'll write about my lashes. I've been getting lash extensions done for over 10 years from places that charge $30 to $300+ per sessions. Amy at Vicky c5 does an amazing job for a reasonable price. The lashes look dramatic without looking fake. Even better, I am done in less than an hour and the lashes look great for over a month. I usually go 2.5 months between eyelash visits (I like to take breaks between applications and wait for them to fall out instead of doing touch ups.) I love not having to wear a lot of makeup, especially when I'm on vacation or when the weather is super hot. Check out my pic! read more

I wanted to look for Korean or Asian make up artists for my wedding since I like the Korean make up style, and I have inner double eyelids that are difficult to put eye make up on. I wanted someone who would be familiar with dealing with Asian faces. From consultation with Vicky all the way to makeup/hair on my wedding day, everything went super smoothly. A team of three ladies came to do hair and make up for me, my two bridesmaids, and two moms. They were all super nice, easy going, and professional. Everyone was really happy with the results. My make up and hair stayed all day and night into the wee hours of partying and sweating and dancing. I opted out of a make up/hair trial because my budget didn't allow me to splurge, but I was really happy on the day of and I didn't have to worry at all. The artists have a good understanding of the most complimenting style for each person. The price isn't cheap, but definitely worth it for the quality! read more

VickyC5 did a great job on the hair and makeup for my May 2012 wedding. At first I was skeptical about how many people and how long it would take to get the bride + 6 bridesmaids + 2 moms ready with hair and makeup in just a few hours, but Vicky and her team stuck to schedule without compromising on the final product (attaching some pictures here for you to judge for yourself). They've clearly been doing what they do for a long time and came prepared, even showing up a bit early. Once I booked them for my wedding, Vicky suggested a series of facials starting several weeks before the wedding. I personally take things that aestheticians say with a grain of salt. However, at my mom's urging, I followed the skin-care regimen suggested by Vicky, and ultimately I was not disappointed. They also had a good collection of accessories (hair pieces, birdcage veils, earrings, necklaces, bracelets, to name some) which I was surprised to find were more affordable than the ones for sale in the wholesale shops in the nearby Fashion District. They are definitely pricey, but if you think hair+makeup are worth splurging on for your wedding, I highly recommend them! read more

Vicky C5 was a great choice and I am very happy I chose to go with them. I booked them way in advance (almost a year) and they were very flexible. I did not know how many bridesmaids I was going to have and whether we would do hair or makeup or both, but they were extremely flexible and let me just reserve the date and add on services closer to the date. I ended up choosing to do the trial make up (highly recommended) and also purchased the on-site service (also necessary for my wedding). Alice was my main person and she was absolutely amazing the day of our wedding. I changed my hair style between the ceremony and reception and also had a traditional Korean ceremony during our cocktail hour. Alice was amazing and helped me and my husband get dressed into our Korean traditional dresses (she was a life saver!). She also did touch-ups for myself and all my bridesmaids (this was included in the on-site services) which was really great! All-in-all I am SO happy with going with Vicky C5, but in reality, it was completely all Alice and her team who made my day so much better! read more

I booked VickyC5 for my wedding in August and worked with Jina and Yoomi who were both great! I was a little nervous about how my hair and makeup would turn out because the majority of their brides have a different style than me. I also (accidentally) cut my hair too short a month before the wedding. Yoomi was able to work with me (and my extensions) to preserve the look and hairstyle I wanted. Jina was so cute and attentive with my makeup. The bridesmaids and moms looked great. Vicky was also flexible in working out a package for me. Overall, I was happy with their services. But even better, after the wedding I was able to get eyelash extensions from them, by Jina, which I LOVE. I've been wanting to try them for a while, but per Jina's recommendation, I waited until after the wedding to get them (I also appreciate that she was looking out for me and not trying to push services onto me). The lashes look great, she did such a good job, I've gotten so many compliments on them. I am definitely hooked read more

VickyC5 was wonderful from start to finish. I never went for a consultation or bridal trial due to time and budget constraints; so, on the day of my wedding, Vicky, herself, came to dress my hair and do my makeup. My husband said I looked like Grace Kelly with the way that Vicky had styled my hair--classic, elegant, no "bird nests" per my request. They were easy to work with and very funny throughout the entire session; my bridesmaids, mother, MOH, and even my 2 year old daughter enjoyed having them as our makeup team. My daughter loved having her hair curled and the stylist (Hera) made her feel comfortable. Hera is hilarious, and Vicky knows exactly what she's doing. She worked with my features and what I wanted, while keeping the style of my dress in mind, to highlight and compliment everything else. I had so many wonderful compliments from guests especially about my hair. I have attached a few photos with the caption: Photographer - Danny Seo (http://www.danseophotography.com/). I had to find a hair & make-up team to book in 4 days for my engagement photo shoot. I heard good reviews and recommendations from a couple of friends that used VickyC5 for their weddings so called to see their availability in desperate. They kindly took me although it was very last minute, and was willing to accommodate to have me in very early morning as I requested. When I got there for appointment, Amy and Vicky herself were waiting for us. Amy was the artist who took care of us, and Vicky was just waiting for us to meet and did my fiancé's hair before she leaves for her next wedding session. Amy was very nice and was very open to what I wanted. I didn't really have very specific request but she seemed to understand what style I wanted and proposed the ideas that I wanted. When she was done with me, she took my fiancé and did well with his touch up. I mentioned that I wish I had flower headpiece to wear, she asked me to bring my bouquet and improvised and made the headpiece which I was very pleased with. I would definitely use their service again, and recommend to my friends! Thank you! read more

Vicky and her crew did hair and makeup for my whole bridal party and my mother. My mom specifically wanted to work with someone who had done hair and makeup for Korean women in traditional dresses, so it made her happy. But I chose Vicky independent of this fact, based on all the great reviews and our trial run. We did a hair and makeup trial, and she went through several different looks for my hair, both up and down. She was super kind and easy to work with. On the day of the wedding, she brought everything with her: including 4 staff members, all the hair and make-up supplies, an emergency touch up kit for me, and mood music for while we're getting ready. Her crew was so amazing working with all my bridesmaids to help give them the look they wanted. We all wanted a fairly easy and natural look to our makeup, nothing crazy overboard. I was very happy with the way it all turned out, and even Mom was happy with her hair and makeup. Most of all, Vicky's staff were AMAZING working with my little sister. My sister has some special needs, but I love her to death and wanted to make her as much a part of the wedding day as possible without stressing her out. Vicky was able to do just the right amount with both her hair and makeup to get her all excited about participating, but keep it all no maintenance for the rest of the day. I've never seen my sister so happy... it was amazing. Speaking of no maintenance, I did not have to touch the hair once. Not once in my long day from 10:30am hair, to the end of the reception 12 hours later, followed by our 4 hour after-party. I was running all around NYC for photos, I was jumping all around the reception dance floor.. and at the end of the night, my hair was exactly in place, just as she had placed it. Not a hair out of place. Love it! Thanks Vicky for everything! Worth every penny! read more

I had VickyC5 do hair and makeup for me and makeup for my mother and bridal party for my wedding in central Jersey. They did such an amazing job. I had trouble finding an Asian or Korean makeup artist in southern or central Jersey, but VickyC5 was willing to travel down to East Brunswick for our wedding. I tried another makeup artist but she didn't understand what I was looking for and how to work with my [Asian] skin. I'm so glad I did more research and found VickyC5. They showed up at 6am to make sure we were ready for our photographer. We looked so polished but they kept the makeup and lashes natural and glowy the way we wanted. We had discussed what style I was looking for and they really nailed it. They even worked around the flowers we were given by our florist and even took some of the combs apart to make sure the flowers would stay in my hair all day. They were warm and cheerful and made us feel so comfortable. I loved how they treated my mother so well especially. The makeup and hair lasted all day and into the night. My bridal party was also really impressed and happy with their makeup. Our wedding photos turned out great as well due to their expertise. My fiancee went here to get makeup for our wedding and engagement photo shoot. We were very displeased with their makeup. Granted as a guy I don't know much about makeup but even I could tell something was wrong. They made her look like a clown. It looked very unnatural and I felt that she can do her own makeup much better than they were doing. They were also very expensive, so I had higher expectations. We canceled our contract with them and found a much better place. She is getting her makeup done right now as I am writing this and she looks beautiful. I don't think it's even worth the time to get the trial makeup. Find a place that can make you feel and look awesome, not just mediocre or content for your wedding day. This place did not do that for us at all. In addition, we rented a veil for $50 (not sure why that was so expensive). I returned it a couple of days later. I told them that we rented this veil and they just took it and said thank you. Next week they called asking where the veil was. I don't mind that but after awhile on the phone it felt more accusatory. I did not appreciate being spoken in that manner when it was their employees incompetence at fault. Unprofessional. One last thing that I did notice, they put on eyelash extensions on my fiancee. It looked ok I thought but when she got it done at the place we are using now, it was a world's difference. What I found out was that they just use one entire piece at Vicky C5 and just put it on while the other place cuts the lashes and puts it on as smaller individual pieces. It takes more time and effort but the results are completely different. I wish I could give less than one star. read more

I contacted VickyC5 via email on 12/20/15 to inquire about hair and makeup on New Years Day. On 12/22/15, we scheduled an appointment for 6:30p on 1/1/16. On the afternoon of 12/30, I called the salon to confirm the appointment so I was totally shocked when I received an email at 5:12p that night cancelling my appointment without explanation. When I called the salon for an explanation, the persons verbatim response to my situation was "ok." No apology. No explanation. Just ok. Because they cancelled on me at end of day, I was not able to find anyone available to at least do my hair on New Years Eve - all of those appointments had long been booked. I cannot comment on their services since they cancelled my appointment. I can however comment on their complete lack of professionalism. I would not recommend booking this salon for any event that is important or that matters to you because apparently they think it's ok to cancel last minute without explanation. read more
