First, I had used Mr. Vickers 12 years ago, when I moved to my current place. It was an awesome experience. When I told him his verbal 5-figure quote for my move was "horrifying," I asked for the price of just a pack & load. I believe he was upset about a number of things, primarily the undocumented quote rejection combined with the reduced scope of work. I also noticed he didn't listen well about needed to coordinate with my driver. I said the 7th was the move date. Several times. When I call him late last week to firm up times, payment, (cash or credit card + 4%,) my first call to him lasted 1 minute, according to Verizon. I've attached a record of the call sequence. He was very abrupt during the first call. He was on vacation and he didn't need me calling him. He did offer to call me back. He did. The first call back was 2 minutes later. The last two calls were in such close proximity to one another we must have been disconnected. While I can't prove a thing, I've had plenty of experiences talking with folks who had been drinking for a while. Personally, I'd classify our last telephone conversation as a drunken rant. Not a full-blown, nighttime "where's all the scotch?" drunkenness. He seemed to have a lesser load on. He was just obnoxious and his attitude came across that I was lucky to him consider taking my money. Last communication from Mr. Vickers that he was busy on Aug. 8-10, and, he was unable to do my move on the 9th. We never discussed the 9th. 1. When a quote/proposal to provide services is provided, a professional will provide a detailed document showing where my money is being spent. That never happened. 2. I was appalled by his behavior when I said I couldn't afford his price and I changed the scope of work. read more

Vickers Moving Service - Saturday July 14, 2018 - Movers Near Me

Alan Vickers...... The man will show up on the first day and charge you $500 for his presence while he scopes out your valuables. He will find a way to slow down the moving process. Alan sent his team out for a 2 hour lunch, I still got billed for those 2 hours. Alan wanted to train skilled employees while on the clock, and deliberately told his employees to close up truck number 1 and deliver it half empty because it was getting late (it was 5:30 in the evening)!!! The truck didn't arrive to my new house until 8pm!!! This was the opportunity Alan took to seize my valuables on truck number 2 and basically held my belongings for ransom!! Where I had to pay an additional $1500 to my $5000 bill, not to mention $1000 for boxes and packing material. My entire bill came out to over $8000 for a 3 bedroom townhouse!!! Alan also refused to compensate for damages made to my belongings! His team is fantastic, I wish I could say the same about Alan. DO NOT LET ALAN VICKERS INTO YOUR HOME, AROUND YOUR PETS AND DEFINITELY NOT NEAR YOUR CHILDREN! He's not pet or toddler friendly! DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!! read more

Alan Vickers and company has moved me several times over the past years. They never disappoint. Their packing and professional experience is excellent. They make a difficult job go quickly and without any surprises. You'll be happy read more

Where to start well I don't like giving reviews that are bad to anybody because I am also a business owner and I do what I can to fix issues for clients if they're not happy with me and I'll make sure they're happy. Mr. Alan Vickers what can I say or should I say when can I stop?? I cannot believe how this man is such two-faced crook. He is the most unorganized unethical moving company I have seen in my existence of 40 years in Houston Texas. he did not give me a pre-move price so I gave him benefit of the doubt (as he was nice to me at the beginning) ... I got prices from allied vans, Mayflower moving company, three men and a truck, etc ... Everybody quoted me $4000 - $5000 maximum price. Mr. Vickers decided to charge me $1,000 the first day, 5700 the second day for 13 hours and 5 hours of labor which is closer another thousand dollars for the third day when he should have finished a job in two days. I paid a total of $8,060 to move a three-bedroom for story town-home that occupies two adults and one child. The son of a b**** even held my furniture hostage until he went and cashed the check at the bank. Let me tell you something karma is a b****. He has our furniture in two trucks and one truck in his possession because he planned it that way! He had a plan to screw me from the get go. NO APOLOGIES AT ALL EITHER! All the people online that are making five star reviews have either been moved from small places or less that 10 mile moves for the most part. He damaged my furniture and doesn't even want to acknowledge it. State of Texas has bonds the moving companies have to put up I am going to claim it on his bond he is a very dishonest gentleman highly warn people to not use his services his employees are fantastic they knew exactly what was happening but they can't say a single word because they got to feed their families. The workers even were upset, but afraid to say anything. In my 40 years of being a business I've never written a bad review about another business but this is absolute highway robbery and it is not right and people need to understand what kind of a crook this man is. Anybody wants to get in touch with me email me at houstonman30@gmail.com and I will tell you about it in detail. My 2 year old son had to sleep on the goddamn floor because this SOB would not deliver the furniture on time ... what kind of man is this disgusting person. Good luck and good riddance sir I guarantee you this .... God does not let anything go unpunished. You are the devil's best friend and a snake in the damn grass. read more

I asked for a quote for packing and loading of a POD for a cross-country trip. The owner, Alan, was very prompt in corresponding via email, but when I questioned the necessity of 50-60 furniture pads at $20/ea for a 2-br he immediately rejected the entire job. I did not say I would not buy the pads, only questioned the need for so many since it would cost as much as transporting the POD (~$1200). It was a strange interaction, and I'm surprised a small business is not more open to answer questions and give the customer time to understand and agree to the terms. I'm sure they are a good company based on reviews and clearly he has high standards to protect his employees and business, but be sure you are clear and do not comment or question the information he gives you or you will be declined. read more

I have to say, I've never used a professional moving company before and I really didn't know what to expect. Now I do! I expect a friendly front office staff. Fast, helpful and friendly moving crew and I expect my things to get to where I need them to go without incident. I moved my 3 bedroom house to storage while I waited for my new house to be completed. I got exactly what I wanted from Alan Vickers Moving. On Tuesday, Sarah came by and looked at what we needed moved. She was very helpful determining what we needed and the time we can expect to spend moving. Saturday came around, Juan and the crew greeted Me with a friendly smile. Juan and team were the best. They helped me pack, they provided me packing material and they made sure I didn't miss anything (I forgot about my small bookcase hidden in the garage). I definitely plan to use these guys when I move out of storage in a couple months. The pricing was awesome. Right in line with the other guys in terms of hourly moving, but you get so much more in service, materials, etc. Sarah or Alan, if you read this... Thank you very much for the help!!! - Keith J. read more

Vickers Moving Service - Great Movers! - Movers Near Me

I am a real estate agent, and have helped people move for over 15 years. I have always been hesitant to refer anyone to a particular mover, since SOMETHING usually goes wrong - and my clients would blame me. Part of my move involved moving a piano. I asked the piano movers who they thought was THE best "high end" mover in Houston. They replied "Alan Vickers Movers". I am happy to report that this was the best move experience I have ever had. Alan showed up personally to bid out the move. Then he also showed up on move day to supervise everything. He was VERY hands on. Everything was wrapped, and handled with great care. All my pretty things arrived safely and there was not ONE scratch. The price was on the high end, but completely fair given the professionalism of his team. I would certainly use him again, and will recommend him to all my clients who love their stuff enough to use the very best mover in Houston. read more

Do these guys need another positive review? This was such a stressful time for me but the minute the crew showed up, I knew the day would go smooth. They are the consummate professionals. They moved from sun up and way past sun down and their great attitude and energy level seriously never changed. There are movers and there are professionals who have it down to a science. The cost per hour may be slightly higher, but you will save money when they get it done in much less time and In the right place with no damage and no marked up walls. I could never use anyone else to move. Thank you to Gonzalo and his whole team! read more

We had such a perfect (yes perfect) moving experience with Alan and company. We did not have an easy job for them and they never showed frustration and were extremely professional throughout the entire process. The pricing was very comparable to other companies - and the previous reviews don't lie, this is the best of the best in Houston moving. Our move consisted of three stops and multiple swaps of very antique, delicate furniture - and they never missed a step and were full speed (in 90 degree weather) the entire TEN hour move. They took care of our furniture (wrapping, pads, etc.) better than we could have imagined. They showed up on time and followed all directions with a smile - which with my family is difficult. They did not over charge for anything or try to add extra charges along the way. They used the exact amount of materials required and didn't up charge or try to sell anything unnecessary. Two flat screen smart TVs, glass coffee tables, antique china cabinets, antique kitchen hutch, mirrors from early 1900s and much, much more - all moved included with the hourly charge plus the materials they used. In the end with over 25 pieces of furniture wrapped, padded and delivered perfectly - all materials cost $75. The end price was exactly what Alan quoted me when we arranged the move. Honest, legit, hard working people. This is the best moving experience anyone in my family has ever encountered. Do yourself a favor and hire Alan and his team - worth every penny! read more

Great company if you don't mind being overcharged. Saddest part, it wasn't that much but the owner refused to refund even a dime. Cost me over $1100 to move a one bedroom 850 square foot apartment with minimal furniture. Look somewhere else. read more

Alan Vickers was an excellent moving company! We saw their reviews on Yelp and they lived up to everything anyone had said about them. They were all very professional and so friendly. Sarah came over to assess exactly what we would need, and had a lot of great advice. The day of the move, we had 4 guys plus Sarah all moving stuff and they got us out of our house in record time (and while it was pouring down rain outside). We had some challenges being that we lived in a townhouse trying to get large furniture down, as well as a narrow street, and everyone exceeded our expectations. We relocated to a different city, and everything was done in a day and very efficient. We have since unpacked everything and have ZERO complaints, no damage, and nothing broken! And you can't beat their pricing. I would highly recommend this company if you are looking for friendly, efficient, and reliable people!!! read more

This is a PROFESSIONAL moving company - if you wanna pay $99 to have some college kids toss your belongings around, go right ahead. Oh wait, you actually want someone to handle your stuff with care, making sure it is properly protected and loaded into the truck for the trip across town, then unloaded and placed in your new home exactly where you want it? Then I suggest you call Alan. This is the 3rd time we have used Alan Vickers Moving to handle our move. It was a hectic move as my husband was out of town all week and I didn't have time to perfectly pack everything. No worries - the crew brought in wardrobe boxes that made moving the contents of our closets a snap and even disassembled the larger furniture items (beds and dressers) before wrapping everything and loading it into the truck. When we got to the new place, they asked me where I wanted things and put them in place. They put the furniture back together. They put down mats to keep from tracking dirt into the house. They removed all the shrink wrap from the furniture. They were quick and efficient. Ultimately, if my husband and I were to have tried this alone, it would have taken us much much longer, probably several days. We would have had to rent a truck and probably taken off of work. And at the end of it we would have been exhausted. It is well worth the cost to hire them for a move! read more

I can whole-heartedly say that Vickers Moving Service is hands down, THE ABSOLUTE BEST moving service you could hire in Houston!!! My fiancé and I, and both of our families - including aunts, uncles, sisters and parents- have used them for over a decade now and for many different types of moving services! Let me just say that I have referred them to dozens of people; my clients, my friends and random people on the street. EVERY one I referred them to not only used them...but called me and personally thanked me for sending them to Vickers Moving and now will ONLY use them as their mover. These guys have been in the business for over 20 years and take customer service to a whole new level. In addition to their punctuality, pricing, attention to detail and extreme professionalism...Vickers Moving has an open door policy, extending an open line of communication to all customers- which is particularly essential when it comes to alleviating stressors during one of the most stressful events that happen in our lives. They are ahead of the game, always on time, professional and kind, trained to be the best....and work WITH you to omit your stress! I recently moved into a new office and needed to move my furniture in--2 large desks and a heavy wooden filing cabinet. Sounds simple, but I needed them moved up a very tiny, narrow stairway in a historic Heights home. After scouring the Internet, I decided to book with Vicker's Moving because several reviews mentioned them coming through on tough jobs like getting furniture over a balcony, etc. From my first phone call to end of my move, I was very impressed with Vicker's Moving. They showed up early the morning of my move, and were very friendly and patient. When it came time to move my largest desk in, it wouldn't fit up the stairs so the owner ended up coming out himself to assess the situation. They had to come back later that night with more people, but 2 hours, many ropes and 8 movers later my desk was literally hoisted vertically through the stairwell. It was a sight to behold! All in all, I had a great experience and would not hesitate to recommend Vickers. If you are looking for a professional company with a higher end moving experience (not one scratch on my walls or furniture) this is the one. read more

Alan and his crew did a great job on my office move! Originally I had scheduled with another moving company, but the building we were moving out of stopped their crew in the process because they hadn't protected the walls and floors sufficiently. This put us in a bind because we needed to be out by the end of the month, which was only 2 days away. So I looked on Yelp and called Vickers. Alan coordinated the insurance with the building mgmt. and they came that night and completed the move for us! VERY PROFESSIONAL. Showed up exactly when they said, worked quickly and efficiently, even stored our stuff on their truck overnight and delivered it first thing in the morning. I didn't have to worry about anything... which I am VERY grateful for. Five stars. I recommend them highly. Bill T read more

Another great move with Alan Vickers Moving! This was my second move with this company and I could not be more pleased. The communication was excellent, the bid was exact, they arrived on time, the men were experienced with tenure with AVM and listened doing things one time and done. Alan Vickers Moving Service made this my best move ever! I moved within the same apartment complex and then needed excess furniture brought to a storage unit. They were totally professional, arrived promptly at the scheduled time, and got through the job without a single scratch to any of my things. They were very efficient with their time, treated everything with care and asked me if they weren't sure how I wanted something handled. They moved my furniture around a couple different ways until I was happy with the placement. This was the least stressed I've ever been in a move. I will DEFINITELY call them again. read more

Great guys to work with. Very conscientious for hourly rate workers. Quite often there is quite a bit of "downtime" with hourly labor but I didn't see that at all with this group. They were like little worker bees. Only reason I didn't give the 5 stars was that they are a little expensive. I did get what I paid for though & they worked very hard & got the job done quickly. I would recommend & use again if I needed movers. read more

I have used Alan Vickers's to move three times now. There isn't a more reliable and professional mover in Houston. They arrive on time and the price quoted has always been spot on. Nothings ever been damaged and I've never had to lift a finger. Yesterday a very dear friend of mine needed to have a small piece furniture moved with less than 24 hours notice. Allan and his crew didn't have time but they work it into their schedule anyway. I highly recommend. read more

I hired Alan Vickers Moving Service to move our HEAVY concrete table and benches from our old backyard to our new one. They were able to fit us in within a few days, and it only took an hour! Sarah helped set everything up on the phone and the crew she sent over worked fast to get all the pieces into the truck and over to the new place in record time. Their hourly rate is a little higher than other companies, but there was no minimum time charge, no trip fee, and it didn't matter what day we scheduled for, so it ended up costing less! I definitely recommend them, and if I ever move again, I'll be giving them a call. read more

I'll just echo what everyone else has said... they are fantastic. Extremely polite, punctual and efficient. Very careful with all my belongings and quick. Worth the slightly higher hourly rate. They were also so accommodating moving me from essentially Montrose & Dallas on Free Press Summer Fest Saturday- I feel like anyone else would have been frustrated or straight up walked away when my awful complex locked the big drive way gates to ensure non-residents would not come in to park for the concert (also same gate moving vans dock at) but they took it in stride and worked around stairs to use the pedestrian gate. Definitely worth 5 stars and I will be recommending to all my friends. read more

We just used Vickers Moving again (see review in August for the move of our daughter to her first apartment). I wish I could give them a ten star rating because that's what they deserve! I believe this is the 6th move we've done with Alan (house moves, office moves, moving kids to apartments) and they have consistently done an outstanding job even with our more challenging moves. This most recent move was a long distance house move and included moving numerous boxes of fragile crystal and china as well as some very delicate pieces of furniture. Not a single broken, scratched or damaged item. As usual, the team was professional, conscientious and great at their job. They don't mess around or drag their feet - there is no such thing as down time. I didn't check rates or get any other estimates so I can't specifically comment about rates, but the total cost was absolutely fair and reasonable. Also, I've learned the hard way that it can cost a lot more to have bad or slow movers. A special shoutout to Gonzolo, Alex and Brandon. All of Alan's team are great and I wouldn't hesitate to use any of them, but will definitely ask for this group again! Bottomline - Vickers Moving is the real deal - professional movers (not a sales guy with a bunch of day labor brought in to "help" with a move). They are the best and I highly recommend them. read more

Great experience with Alan and his crew! Had a couch delivered that didn't fit around the stair case in my townhouse. Alan personally came to my place to check it out, before saying they could or couldn't fit it from the balcony. They took good care and moved it in from the balcony. Very nice and quick! Highly recommend them! read more

Great company! Sarah was wonderful and helpful when she came out to look at our stuff and house. The price quoted was very competitive and fair. The crew arrived on time and were all extremely professional and courteous. They never hesitated in moving furniture around when we got to the new house. Even my mother-in-law, who has moved overseas several times and used many moving companies, was incredibly impressed. Would highly recommend this fantastic family-owned company. read more

We hired a 3 man crew to move our belongings from our apartment to a POD for long term storage while we are out of the country. They were fantastic! The arrived promptly and immediately got to work. Their quick yet careful work had our POD loaded in just over two hours. Everything is neatly organized, and they were so courteous. When we return, they will definitely be getting another call. I have personally used Alan Vickers to move 6 times since the '90's. Several of these moves were to place items into storage when we moved out for renovations. In addition to assisting with personal moves, Alan has helped me move items to a charity auction and most recently, helped us move extremely heavy file cabinets within our school building. I have used this company for years and would not consider using anyone else. Over my numerous contacts with Alan and his crew, I have always received prompt attention, careful service and efficient effort. In all of my moves over 22+ years, personal or work, nothing has ever been damaged. I am so appreciative of this company and would never use anyone else! read more

We used Vickers to move some of Mom's furniture and household items to a storage unit. They were on time, pleasant to be around, and very efficient. The owner even stopped in to make sure our move was heading in the right direction for both his team and us. This was service above and beyond expected. It was amazing how much they got into the storage unit while leaving access for us to get to records and items we might need to get to. Their prices were a bit higher than some others quoted, but the extra cost was worth it as the day went so smoothly and Mom's things were treated with kid gloves. We will never use anyone but Alan Vickers Moving after this move. Alan set my expectations, gave me moving pointers, and there were no surprises in the costs. The crew was on time, courteous, and very respectful of our belongings. They spent 2 solid days packing and boxing, then filling 2 truckloads for the move in the blinding Texas heat. Never once did they complain. They never stopped. We are so appreciative of the service and professional way they packed and moved us. Thank you all so much! read more

Here is my experience with them: they show up at the house and presuade us to have them do everything and tell us all we have to do is sit on the couch till the job is done. Reality: they broke my dining room table and denied that they had done it. Every time I asked him to put an item on this truck, he'd look at it and say "you need to put that in your own truck." After the move, I call him to ask where my glass etagere is. The answer? "I left it in your old house. It was made of glass." When I returned to the old house, it was full of stuff that they refused to move. read more
