04/22/26 This visit did not disappoint. We live in Florida and first visited Vicious Biscuit (the original location) quite a few years ago while on vacation. They opened one in Florida and when we visited we were just not as impressed and decided we probably wouldn't go back unless it was the original one. While on vacation again, we noticed Vicious Biscuit on the map and decided to give it another try. I'm so glad we did because the food was spot on and delicious. I got the Vicious and my husband got the Flame Thrower. The biscuits are buttery, flaky, and flavorful. Both of ours came with a cheddar jalapeño biscuit and they were exactly as we had remembered when we visited the OG Vicious Biscuit. The chicken, the cowboy candy, and gravy on mine were perfect. The chicken, cowboy candy, and candied bacon on my husband's were equally excellent. Great job on making us wanting to visit again! Vicious Biscuit is once again a stop we'll be looking for on our next road trip! read more

I ordered breakfast here three days in a row because it was that good! I can be kinda picky when it comes to breakfast so, anywhere that has egg whites and gluten free bread comes in clutch. I ordered the egg white omelette a couple times and each time it was really good! The pico de gallo on top was fresh and complemented the avocado. I The potatoes were also seasoned really well too. My husband had the keto bowl more than once as well so, you know he enjoyed it. The restaurant is cute and modern. Thoroughly enjoyed our breakfast at Vicious. We ordered the Vicious and the flame thrower. The cowboy candy was a sweet and spicy candied jalapeño mix, it was our favorite part of the sandwich. Great coffee and a wide variety of condiments to enhance your meal. The manager on duty took our order since it got a little busy and the line was long. He was patient and attentive in explaining the menu and selections. The vibe of the dining room was upbeat and cozy. I don't think a single staff member walked by without asking us if needed anything. Excellent friendly service. When you walk in the door, take a menu and find what you want to order. Go to the counter and place your order. I'm gluten free, so I was glad they gave options. I ordered the Mike high omelette with the candy topping on the side. So glad I did, It had jalapeños in it, and it was spicy to me. I also ordered a gluten-free biscuit. They do make them all day, but I got one that had been in the warmer too long. Next time I will know to ask for a fresh one. They have a butter/jam bar that is great! The Hattiesburg restaurant is barely okay. I hope other locations are better. The food was cold and it lacked luster; I have no desire to return here as it definitely does not live up to its namesake. The Bloody Mary's were not good at all, the pancake was doughy and the grits needed salt. The manager should NOT be a manager, in fact he would benefit greatly from attending a leadership conference or 4. I will give them 1 star for the atmosphere and cleanliness of the establishment and 1 more star because the young lady who took our order had an amazing personality. Went for the name, stayed for the food. Why aren't you in Houston? I know you are a small chain and I'm not generally in the chain gang but I could make an exception. I mean you're in Akron (I already told family there to go) and not South, home of the biscuits? From start to finish, this place is worth the hype! The staff was incredibly friendly and helpful, management was fantastic, and the environment was welcoming. To put it right to the point: Amazing! The food here is SO GOOD! I was in town for a work event and came in one morning for breakfast. You order up front, take a number and choose a table. There's also a jam bar with plenty to select from. While the entire menu sounds great, I went with The Fat Boy on this visit. Cool place! I loved their menu with fun twists on biscuit sandwiches and breakfast bowls. My daughter got a kids breakfast platter and it was huge for $8! I appreciated that they also had gluten free biscuits available. The adults and teen in our group all ordered biscuit sandwiches and we enjoyed them all. 2 of them came with candied jalapenos on top but no other garnishes or toppings. I think adding some crunchy toppers that are not spicy like sliced pickles and pickled onions or even juicy tomato slices and sauteed spinach would help with the sandwiches having better texture and not being so meat and bread heavy. I had the bbq pork one, my husband had pimento cheese and chicken, and my daughter had a gravy chicken biscuit. I loved the mustard bbq but it was definitely a fork and knife biscuit and like I said it needed some toppings. Another thing I loved was they had a complimentary butter and jam bar. They had a variety of whipped butters and fruit jams that you could get in little cups to go with your meal. Great idea but what do they go on? The biscuit sandwiches do not come with sides, they don't have toast or anything to apread it on. So besides my daughters kids meal with a pancake in order for us to use the butter and jam we had to disassemble our biscuit sandwiches and eat the top biscuit half separately with the jams. I think it it was like a LaMadelines restaurant with the free jam and sliced bread or mini muffins that would make much more sense. Vicious Biscuit is counter service restaurant and they have a whole menu of alcoholic drinks you can also order at the counter. The employees were friendly, made recommendations, and we were checked on and our plates cleared multiple times when we were seated. Overall, great restaurant and I will be back. The Vicious Biscuit is located near USM's campus. It would be a fun restaurant to visit with friends or visiting family on game weekends. The restaurant is clean, has a fun atmosphere, and a creative flavorful menu. I like restaurants where I'm really torn on what to try. The staff was polite and attentive during my visit. You order at the counter and are given a number. You are then free to find a table. There were small cards and signs posted around the restaurant asking patrons to wait until after they order to take a table. There was 5 of us in my party and our meals, kinda trickled out to the table sporadically, but everything looked and tasted great. I tried their specialty "The Vicious Biscuit". It was full of flavor, nicely plated, and a generous portion. Other plates ordered were the Fat Boy, the apple beignets, and a breakfast bowl. I also tried their Bloody Mary and it was excellent. The one place this restaurant could stand to improve is the speed that they take orders and allow customers to be seated. I am so happy a restaurant like this opened up in Hattiesburg Mississippi. I went on the second day and it wasn't too crowded during lunch. They have a massive menu with different breakfast/brunch options. I got the fat boy and their beignets. Both were amazing. The fat boy biscuit had amazing flavor, well it isn't the best biscuit I've ever had in my whole life. I would say it's the best in Hattiesburg. Massive piece of chicken. I ordered a build a breakfast bowl, cheese grits - good and creamy, fried chicken - cooked a bit too long, had a stringy texture, but was flavorful. Eggs weren't bad either. Liked the hot honey with it. The sweet potatoes puppies- needs more sweet potato in them and needs a less oily tasting dipping sauce. Oh my goodness, YES! The name is quite apropos. I've never tasted a biscuit that was so light and delicious. I've gone once with friends and once alone. I was very impressed on both occasions. The menu items have similar titles as at other Brunch restaurants, but uniquely different in taste. Several items especially condiments like "Apple Butter" and jams, are made "in-house". There is outside- seating which is comfortable when there is a nice breeze. I have to say, though, that I wish there was some other way to Order. The line to do so is sometimes outside the door. First time I went to Vicious Biscuit. I found the food to be very rich. The eggs were great and the grits were creamy and not runny. My wife got the biscuit sandwich with the vicious bacon. After having praline and sugar cured bacon, the vicious bacon was not up to par. Vicious bacon was candied jalapeños place on top of the bacon. It had a spicy taste but not as much sweet. I went twice in one week and felt it would help me be able to give a better review. I'll lead with I'm restricted to a gluten free diet. So my assessment is based on the gluten free menu items I had at both visits. It is expensive. My first visit was over $14 (for one person)and the second over $28 (for me & my husband) both before tip. One word. Meager. On day 1 I had a protein bowl with grits, pimento and cheese, grilled chicken and over medium eggs. I ate 1/2. It had very little flavor. I couldn't even identify that it was pimento and cheese in it. I just stopped eating that day. I also requested hot honey and I think they mistakenly put hot sauce bc it was saturated to an extreme. Day 2 I had a gluten free biscuit with fried hard egg & grilled chicken. I'll be honest. I choked on the dense biscuit. It was that bad. Also The best thing out of that meal for me was the honey butter I got from the butter bar. The coffee both days was good probably the only good thing I would take away from the trips. Ultimately I would really like to add a disclaimer that for the record, I wish I could give this restaurant a score higher than what I'm able to as I don't think a 3 ultimately suffices due to Yelp's scoring system. I believe a 3.5 is more appropriate. Originally I was at a strong 4. I genuinely enjoyed the atmosphere and their customer service and felt that this was an establishment that Hattiesburg truly needed, however the first two times I went I felt their main course options where more akin to a tourist trap. I had the Crab Benny for the first day and an egg white omelet for my second visit. Both were decent at best, however both times I felt I understood the love and attention to detail this chain provided through their side attractions: their mimosas, grits and shareables (namely the fried green maters). The maters especially took things to another level with the pimento cheese but, most importantly for this topic, their bacon jam. Never in my life have I tasted anything that put me in such a state of calm as I did with their bacon jam. It was simply that good and sublime. Imagine my dismay when I went back on Dec. 14th only to find out that corporate decided to take it off their menu simply because "it wasn't selling well". I have a personal pet peeve with restaurants that feel the need to take off items that have a cult following but not provide any means for their supporters to be able to replicate the dish in their own time. That alone took off a whole point for me as I sincerely believed that the bacon jam was something that didn't necessarily needed to be promoted more but just something that people who explored the menu would've appreciated for its subtle simplicity but yet explosive richness. Obviously, to no one's surprise, I was unsuccessful with trying to wrestle the secrets to the recipe from the staff when I unfortunately learned the news, however I still came out of that experience still feeling cared for just due to the collection of personalities that they hired. Particularly Macy (front of house) and Cody (#2 manager). It's at Cody's request I even downloaded Yelp in the first place to speak my praises towards Macy's attention to my concerns as she did her absolute best to sympathize with my complaints but also helped me navigate the menu to find something more suited to my tastes, the Sea Biscuit - and yes, that was absolutely delectable. But more importantly, she recognized the inner foodie in me and had no issues speaking to me about other recommendations that sparked my curiosity. I really do hope that corporate is paying attention to the gems they've hired in those two because they went above and beyond to make sure my concerns were met with patience and sincere care. That's rare to find in any business especially in restaurants. With that said.... If I can somehow be given the recipe to the bacon jam I'll definitely consider revising my score to a 4 of principle and maybe a 5 purely for the love of the game lol... Wishful thinking.. read more
