We pulled up and noticed that the GOS location was pointing to a hotel building. There was no signage from the road or exterior of the hotel, but we went inside and found this restaurant is more of a lounge restaurant within the hotel The menu offers a variety of "tapas," and the portions are large enough that everyone in a small party should be able to try the dish. The cocktails were well made, and they came out in a timely manner Our server was exceptionally friendly and helpful. Overall, the service was good. We did try to slightly modify a couple of the dishes, and one couldn't be modified, and another was just disregarded, but everything tasted good This isn't the most inexpensive spot for happy hour, but it is a nice atmosphere Some tips: Definitely go the tapas route so you can try a variety of dishes. Wish we could give half stars. This is more like a 3.5. Plenty of room for our wedding rehearsal party of 25 and room for others too. Overall: Service was great! We had a very attentive server that checked on us regularly but wasn't over bearing. We never felt rushed to eat and leave. The atmosphere was friendly, fun and clean. Tomahawk Pork Chop: 3/5 The best part of this dish was the mashed potatoes. When I ordered the pork chop, I asked for it to be cooked medium and was given a funny look by our server. He said the the pork chop would be cooked well. It was dry and overcooked. The steamed vegetables were OK. Lightly seasoned, absolutely nothing special. Smoked Rosemary Old Fashioned: 5/5 I really enjoyed this cocktail! Wish the smoky flavor would have come through a bit more but overall, amazing drink. Kudos to the bartenders! Live Music: 5/5 A guy named Jeff Aplin was playing some great covers spanning several decades. He put his own twist on a lot of the songs and wasn't too loud! Really enjoyed listening to him. I am giving this review after 2 dinners here, now. I gave them 2 of my evenings to make sure I gave an accurate depiction of what you will find here. That being said..... Here are a couple of positives from our experience first of all, because I'm not TOTALLY dissatisfied (very close, though): The food itself is very quality and tastes amazing. The atmosphere and theme are fantastic. "Why a 2 Star review, then?" you may ask.... The negatives: In both of my experiences here, there is a MAJOR problem in the most important category of any restaurant experience anywhere-the service and the timing. It starts from the beginning of your visit. It's "self seating" which is totally fine because many places are the same way, except when you find your table it takes an abnormal/unreal amount of time for their staff to realize you exist and to bring menus/ask for your drink orders. It's literally like they have zero clue you showed up. Both times my wife and I ate here, this was exactly the same. In fact, the first time there-we had to let a waitress know that we had not been helped yet. Awful first impression from the get go....and it doesn't stop there. They take forever to acknowledge you again to get appetizer orders or meal orders. The first experience there (Valentine's Day in 2023) we got our appetizer ahead of our entree but it took a CRAZY long time to receive, I'd say about 20 minutes (it was just truffle fries, simple). Our second experience the other day (01/21/24), for my wife's 27th birthday might I add, they never brought the appetizer and decided to bring it at the same time as our entree. In the first AND second experiences here, it took so long to receive our food that we were literally so hungry that it gave us stomach cramps. A piece of the equation that contributes to these issues, is they only have 1 waiter or waitress and 1 bartender. They are very short staffed, consistently. To receive poor service like this, the food is WAY TOO EXPENSIVE for your experience. I do not recommend coming here. My wife wants to give them a third chance some time in the future, but it will take me a moment before I give them another chance. I hope this helps. If you do visit, I hope that your experience is top notch and that they fix these issues. I am hopeful that they will, because the food truly is amazing and the ambiance of the place is perfect. Dropped by this new spot in lobby of the Hotel Indigo for a drink and appetizers. It has a great ambiance, very modern and a welcome addition to my cool spots in Hattiesburg list. They were out of IPA's on the taps, and I spoke to the friendly bartender about it. They should definitely keep some Mississippi beers on those taps. Date ordered the Crab Cake BLT and I tried the bakwan Sayur (a deconstructed spring roll). It was definitely small plate and I enjoyed the flavors. I couldn't detect the apricot sauce, it tasted more like traditional hot and spicy. The crab cake blt was excellent. May have needed a tiny bit more crispiness but the bread was awesome and super buttery. The prices on the menu are surprisingly affordable for the quality and the service. read more

At the bottom level of the Indigo Hotel, the Brass Hat offers an intimate, classy take on a hotel restaurant and bar. The decor is modern and industrial with a train car feel at the entrance. Very cool restaurant/lounge located within the brand new Indigo Hotel. I dined here the second night they were opened, as such, I'm excluding service from my review until a later date. Initial impressions: The entire Midtown development is an incredible addition to Hattiesburg, located directly across the street from the USM campus. A hip, boutique hotel was what this town was lacking, and Indigo does not disappoint. The Brass Hat is meant to resemble a rail car, including cute details such as handrail straps and a suitcase hostess stand. Main area has comfortable lounge seating, Edison bulb lighting, and plenty of room for larger groups. Restaurant is west facing, offering perfect sunset views from inside and out on the patio. Jazz and 30s/40s music complete the feel. Ambiance overall: 5 stars Food and drinks were great! Smoked catfish dip is def a must try. They offer craft cocktails and many local beer selections. Wine list isn't extensive, but sure to please and fairly priced. Service can use some fine tuning, for instance, customers shouldn't open their own bottle of wine.
