While in Laredo Texas on business, I found this restaurant and decided to give it a shot. WOW,…read moreabsolutely DID NOT DISAPPOINT. The service, food and atmosphere were excellent. It was busy at the time I entered (10:15 am on a Wednesday) but I was seated immediately. My server Ivan was excellent and brought me coffee and my food order quickly. I ordered the "El Gringo" which was delicious (photo attached). Without asking , it came with two kinds of salsa (red and green). Red was spicy made with habaneros. Pancakes were great and Ivan even asked me if I wanted strawberry or blueberry topping on them. Of course I took the strawberries which put the pancakes over the top. Eggs, bacon and hash browns were delicious. I always enjoy supporting local restaurants and this place was loud, festive and enjoyable. I will 100% return if or when my business travels bring me back to Laredo Texas

Wife and I were looking for some good food in Laredo TX after not being there for many many years…read more We decided to go to La Finca since the reviews were good and we were definitely craving some brunch. First things first: I was super impressed. The inside is nice and the servers were great too, but our food stole the show. I got the Chicken and waffles and they were super good. There's always something about Chicken going well with waffles that somehow works, but thankfully it does. Wife got the El Gringo plate and she thoroughly enjoyed it too. We both wish we could have had more but for what we got it was really filling. If we ever do come back to Laredo we will stop by again. FYI apparently some or a good handful of the brunch plates come with pancakes on the side, according to our server, but it's not mentioned on the menu.

The manager came off a little rude but then apologized after we stepped out of the restaurant. I would go back if it's a party of 3 or less people. It seems as if they had the food just sitting there until the last plate was ready. 2 of the 10 plates were cold to the touch. Most of our plates were missing items. I ordered the chilaquiles Los del patron with the chipotle sauce, eggs over medium and ribeye. They forgot to give me the eggs but brought them out after I made them aware. The food was definitely on point in flavor. The chilaquiles were stuffed with cheese and I loved it. I ordered a cafe de olla but it was just coffee with cinnamon. They could've told me they didn't serve it there. I then ordered a Paloma. Definitely one of the best I've had in Laredo. Overall the service was mediocre, the quality of the food was okay, and the flavor was on point. I might give it a second chance just because of the chilaquiles and Paloma.

Given the name and aesthetic, it would make more sense to play music inspired by Frida Kahlo's tastes--Mexican folk, mariachi, jazz, or even classical--to enhance the experience. The staff was friendly and welcoming. They understood English well, even though they primarily spoke Spanish, which wasn't an issue. The menu was written in Spanish but included clear English descriptions, making it easy to navigate. Overall, it's a pleasant spot with potential, but the ambiance could be improved to better match the concept. The huevos rancheros plate was okay, but there were a few disappointing details. The beans tasted like they came straight out of a can and were served in very small portions, along with the potatoes. The potatoes were cut into very large pieces and were under-seasoned, which made them less enjoyable. Overall, it was filling, but with better seasoning and more care in the sides, this dish could be much better.
