The tour we took was $25 per person. Picking up the tickets I preordered was easy. With boarding, no one told us when it was time to board though we were sitting at the dock, but we saw a group going and went along with them. Seating on the boat included an upper deck to enjoy the air; my family preferred the lower deck which was booth style. We found a booth together easily. There were large windows to look outside, but the narration was prerecorded and kind of quiet. Occasionally a crew member would chime in. The narration was always pointing out things on the starboard side, so keep that in mind. The interior seemed kind of outdated overall and most of the other people on the tour were on the elderly side, so it might cater more towards that audience. Overall, this was an okay tour of the harbor. The price was fine for what it was, but I wouldn't personally choose to do this tour again. I know there are other options that might be better through the company, so only speaking from my experience with what I described.

Potomac Riverboat Company, Old Town Alexandria, Virginia…read more September 2026 Living in Old Town, Alexandria for 15 years I've learned to appreciate the multiple ways of getting around the DMV. When the Anthem opened not too many years ago, I discovered the Potomac Riverboat Company and its Water Taxi. It proved to be the perfect way to get from Old Town Alexandria to the Anthem on the Wharf, where Sara Bareilles was performing in mid-September 2026. The Anthem is an outstanding venue - seating maybe 6,000 and hosting performances by the likes of the Killers, Sarah McLachlan, Dark Star Orchestra, and the Indigo Girls. And, on nights where the Anthem is hosting a performance, the Water Taxi offers a $2 discount to concert-goers using the taxi to get to the show. (Note that except for special events like baseball games, the last returning taxi from the Wharf to Old Town departs around 8 p.m., ruling out using the taxi to return after an evening concert.) The 6:30 p.m. taxi to the Wharf left right on time from a dock that is easy to spot once you know where to look . . . but if it's your first time you might want to consult with the folks in the ticket-selling kiosk across from Blackwall Hitch. Once in line an attendant scanned the QR code on my phone and I was on my way. It cost $19 for the one-way senior/military rate, less the $2 discount I got for using the code showing I would be going to the Anthem. It's a scenic and relaxing 30-minute ride, taking you past the Naval Research Facility, with its huge outdoor golfball-looking spheres sheltering its radar facilities, and Fort McNair, a United States Army post located on the tip of Buzzard Point that's also historically known as the Washington Arsenal. The taxi offers an inside cabin with ample seating, and an upper-deck that has seating and offers outstanding views of the Potomac River shorefront. There's a marine toilet that operates like those on airplanes, and a snack bar with alcohol and non-alcohol offerings. This is the kind of transit option that makes living in the DMV a real pleasure.

Soft drinks and tea were included. The accommodations up there were tall tables and a few metallic stools To the food: The assorted greens salad was fresh with your choice of salad dressings. Then rolls with real butter, followed with spaghetti with meatballs and a pasta with shrimp and parmesan, and chicken parm cutlets. Potato salad and a caprese salad of sliced mozzarella and tomatoes topped with a balsamic dressing. There was enough for seconds. Close to the end of the cruise, they brought out some desserts that looked like magazine quality. Cheesecake, chocolate layered cake, carrot cake, and lemon bars. All were very rich, and nothing was left. The staff could not have been nicer and very efficient. It's a really great crew. There is plenty of free parking. One note, this is not a wheelchair accessible due to a series of steps.

Our ticket came with bottomless mimosas but I didn't like the fact that they pre-mixed the mimosas with orange, pineapple, and cranberry juice and that was the only option. If I wanted just an orange mimosa, I would have had to pay. I find that problematic because what if someone had an allergy to pineapple juice and they are forced to pay extra for a mimosas without pineapple even though they paid for bottomless mimosas. And on top of that, service was slow and our server kept forgetting our table when she made her rounds to refill mimosas. The manager was very apologetic and tried his best to fix the problem by filling our cups himself, which was very appreciated. I also found the drinks to be overpriced and not well mixed. I ordered a Paloma and it pretty tasted like seltzer water and tequila with a very small splash of grapefruit juice. I gave 3 stars because while the cruise experience outside of the food and service were still good. I don't think I'll be doing another brunch cruise in the future.

I chose Yachtsy because of the price point and you can book a captain with your boat. I wanted my friends and I to be able to sit back, drink, and relax during our voyage. Booking: Booking was super simple online. I selected the date, time, and online you have an option to select a captain. You don't get to choose who and be aware there's an additional price plus gratuity that won't be added to your online shopping cart. However, the price was minimal for the pleasure of having fun and not worrying about crashing someone else's boat! Before you sail: make sure you fill out all of the online forms. I had to do about 3, but it took only a few minutes and ensured everything was smooth for our departure. The boat: small, intimate, smooth, and fun. It is snug so if you have 6 adults that's about the max who can fit comfortably. We didn't have a lot with us, thank goodness, but keep that in mind if you have people + food + stuff for your trip.
