We had an outstanding time on the morning History Sail. Captain Tom is so knowledgeable, and also engaging and funny! The Summer Wind is a beautiful boat, and the inner harbor is a fantastic setting. Our sailing tour has been the best part of our trip to Baltimore!

Captain Tom. Everyone was so friendly!

Looking for something fun, relaxing, and possibly romantic to do in Baltimore? American Sailing Tours has you covered! Glancing around Baltimore's Inner Harbor, it's not hard to fantasize about spending time on sailboat. Problem is: unless you've devoted serious cash to owning and maintaining a boat, or you "have connections," your fantasies will remain as such. That's when American Sailing Tours comes in - from the price to the convenience to the experience - AST offers exactly what you're looking for. I found the company through Yelp (I mean...hello!), and based on the description, I figured an experience with American Sailing Tours was beyond my price point. Well, I was wrong. For around $40/person, AST provides a semi-private (up to 6 guests) sailing excursion around Baltimore's scenic Harbor. Depending on the time of day, they offer different sailing experiences (i.e. a Sunset Sail, a Wine & Cheese Sail, an Moonlight Sail, etc.) - and each tour lasts around 90 minutes, unless otherwise specified. I recently enjoyed the Baltimore Harbor Sail on a Sunday afternoon with my boyfriend. Captain Tom greeted us at the gate (as the confirmation email had detailed) - and after meeting the four other people whom were also scheduled to sail at that time, we walked to board the sailboat. Captain Tom and the other staff member (I'm terrible - I forgot his name!) were both welcoming and kind - and we felt safe and comfortable, immediately. As we began to sail around, they played relaxing music, and needless to say, the experience couldn't have been better. 90 minutes flew by while sailing in Baltimore, yet I'm so glad I had the chance to do so! Thanks to the affordable price, and the memorable experience - not only did I have a lovely time, but I will most certainly be back to sail again. If you want to unwind, and sailing appeals to you - I couldn't recommend American Sailing Tours more! P.S. Regardless of the "type" of Sail Tour, they always provide non-alcoholic beverages. You're also welcomed to bring your own alcoholic beverage(s) and food, whenever, as well. P.P.S. Private charters are also available at an additional cost, if that's your thing. :)

I surprised my boyfriend with a wine and cheese sail since we were in town for our anniversary for the weekend. Captain Amanda was great. They provided delicious cheese and crackers and we brought our own wine, as they don't have their liquor license to provide it. Had a nice little sail of the Chesapeake bay timed a perfect hour and a half just as originally stated. It was very romantic and I highly recommend giving it a shot if you're in the Baltimore area.

Took the History tour on the 4th of July morning and it was a great way to start our Independence Day! Captain Tom shared so much information about the bay and answered our questions. Great conversation!

Lovely sunset sail. They provide the corkscrew and wine glasses of which you get to keep one wine glass as a souvenir Very relaxing and the price was very reasonable

My fiance and I did the sunset cruise. It was romantic and relaxing. The views of the harbor at sunset were beautiful and the crew was great. I loved how quiet the sail boat was on the water. They had romantic michael buble, tony bennet and sinatra playing softly. We brought a bottle of wine and they had bottle openers and glasses. They also had soda and water in a cooler for hoot convenience. There's an inner cabin and a restroom if you need it. Note that while the seats are comfortable they don't have backs.

I visited the Inner Harbor for the Sail Baltimore events. Saw some very impressive sailing ships from all over the world. The events goes on all year.

I work for this company and it's a great operation to see the inner harbor from the only perspective that matters, from the water.

Ask the Community - American Sailing Tours

We have five adults who would like to sail around the Baltimore Harbor. What are the rates, and do you have any openings this Sunday, Sept. 3?

All of our public sails are 90 minutes and limited to six passengers. We have availability for 5 on the schooner Unforgettable at 12:45 and 3:15 for $65/person. We have $75 night sails including 6:15 and 8:15 on Summer Wind and 6:45 and 8:45 on… Read more

This boat was a perfect size and Ty Hunt our driver was the best. He is familiar with the surroundings and is a great guy. I chose Yachtsy because of the price point and you can book a captain with your boat. I wanted my friends and I to be able to sit back, drink, and relax during our voyage. Booking: Booking was super simple online. I selected the date, time, and online you have an option to select a captain. You don't get to choose who and be aware there's an additional price plus gratuity that won't be added to your online shopping cart. However, the price was minimal for the pleasure of having fun and not worrying about crashing someone else's boat! Before you sail: make sure you fill out all of the online forms. I had to do about 3, but it took only a few minutes and ensured everything was smooth for our departure. The boat: small, intimate, smooth, and fun. It is snug so if you have 6 adults that's about the max who can fit comfortably. We didn't have a lot with us, thank goodness, but keep that in mind if you have people + food + stuff for your trip. There was a Bluetooth speaker so my friend connected her phone and DJ'd the trip. Our captain was a young guy who was SO MUCH Fun and very chill. He helped to make our trip a success!

The class is about 1 hour long and you make 2 cocktails that feature their drinks. The staff is super welcoming and excited to help you learn. They are very knowledgeable and helpful. Everything that is used as a mixer or addition to the drink is made in house. Super tasty. We made a tea based drink and then another one (see photos). Both were good. It was nice to have every single detail thought out and ready. The room where you are taking the class is very comfortable and has terrific views. We sat out on their lawn that is waterfront when we were done. Super nice area. They do have a bar that is on the premises as well. There was an outdoor bar, but it wasn't open when we were there (beginning of May). This would be a super fun place to come for lunch or just to hang out on the grassy area and watch the scenery. Parking could be an issue and you will have to pay. Keep that in mind for time management. Overall, a super fun thing to do. Highly recommend.
