I recently sailed on a water taxi for a group outing planned by a friend. We were allowed to board shortly before our scheduled takeoff time of 7pm. Once we were seated, we got the boat rules schpeel, which was fairly short and full of common sense, lol.I was totally able to comply. Shortly thereafter we took off. The water taxi moved at an unhurried clip, maintaining speed the whole time (except for when leaving and returning to the dock). It was a smooth ride. I felt comfortable standing around, IN HEELS, while we coasted about the water. It was a good time and I enjoyed it - mostly because the water taxi provided safe passage. Overall the ride and seeing the inner harbour from the water was great! A convenient way to get around and explore so many places downtown as well. Easiest way to get around, it's a bit more complicated than it used to be with added technology but still easy enough. There's a QR code to visit the website to purchase tickets or you can do so onboard. The QR code & maps are easily accessible on the signs at each stop. The routing and knowing which boat to board is somewhat confusing but the staff is friendly and helpful and will point you in the right direction. Keep in mind that transferring boats may be necessary depending on your destination of choice. The lines can get long but they will fill the boats to capacity and the wait moves along pretty quickly. I will admit I've boarded the boat simply to ride around the harbor, it's a lovely ride with some tourist info piped in overhead. The cost of a day pass makes sense, and is inexpensive. read more

I had a blast with my family on the boat rides! The view of the city and water is just amazing! I like how the taxi can take you to several different locations. The water taxi drivers are very kind and energetic! They have patience for those coming on and off and even for those who need help with directions on where to go. There's usually plenty of room on the boats, I never felt too crowded. My favorite locations to be taken to are Fort MCchenry and Fells Point. Both places you must visit! I visited Baltimore last weekend over Memorial Day weekend. I decided not to rent a car and so I used public transportation (and two Ubers) over the weekend. I used the Baltimore Water Taxi once as well. It was a fun way to get across the harbor. You can buy tickets online or on board (including one way tickets). It isn't cheap (my one way ticket was $9) but it's a fun way to see the harbor and take in some water views and well as to get around if you're going no-car like I did! read more

I wish I would have taken the water taxi around Baltimore Harbor before the end of our trip. It was such a fun way to see the city. For $12, you can take the water taxi between various stops on the Harbor. We took it to Fell's Point to get to Locust Point and then from Fort McHenry back to Fell's Point for drinks before taking it to the Inner Harbor. Talk about a trip around town. On a beautiful day, there's nothing better than being on the water with the warm breeze blowing through your hair. Cheaper than a boat tour, it's transportation. Sure it's a touristy thing to do, but you have to appreciate those things like the cable cars back home in San Francisco. I really enjoyed seeing the city from the boat and all of the major businesses around the harbor. Another great thing was the book of coupons, we had already gone to most of those but used the buy one get one free coupons at a couple places that same day. Just go ahead and twist my arm with free drinks and discounts. If I would have known how fun it was to hop around the harbor by Water Taxi, I would have bought a couple day passes and seen more of the city. read more

Let me start by saying I am beyond grateful that this exists in Baltimore. It is perfect for both local traffic and those visiting to get a water view of the harbor. The passes are convenient and I know it will both encourage the two of us to explore more while also being a great activity when family and friends visits. The two big areas I would love for the taxi to improve on: 1- the schedule seems to be more of a suggestion than a true schedule. We arrived at our departure port 15 minutes before the taxi was supposed to arrive and ended up waiting for a full extra cycle. The staff talked amongst themselves and explained how they had skipped some stops earlier and now had to sit at one stop for 20 minutes to get back on rotation. It was a beautiful day and we had no set agenda so we made the best of waiting around in the sun but we learned not to use this when in a rush. It would be amazing if the website would show you in real time where each taxi is so you can plan accordingly. 2- I would love love LOVE for a stop to be added in the Canton/ Brewers Hill area. This is a missed opportunity and hope it can become a reality soon. read more

We came to Baltimore on a family day trip from Washington DC and were looking for budget-friendly options, especially for my brother's family with 3 kids 6 years old and under. This was a great way to see the harbor and I believe the kids tickets were either free or pretty cheap. It also worked well for me, as I was staying in town to visit my best friend and the water taxi was a faster option to get to her apartment than taking a taxi or her picking me up! I frequently take the (free) harbor connector, which uses the same boats and stops. Stops recently changed, so I asked if this was the free shuttle to fed hill, to which the deckhand said yes. Once the boat was in the water, he proceeded to insist I pay him $9 before allowing me off the boat, even after I explained the misunderstanding. I recommend the shuttles all the time as a local, certainly will not be doing this any longer. Either a terrible employee or a manipulative company policy. Although I visited Baltimore many times as a child, my recent visit to attend a conference marked the first time trying out the water taxi. I rode it round trip between Inner Harbor and Fells Point, and it was a great experience! The boats stop at the landing points at regular intervals, and you board and then pay for either a one way or all day pass on the boat. The weather was absolutely lovely during my ride, allowing me to enjoy the experience--and the scenery--to the max. The crew was friendly and there were only a few other riders, further adding to the charm of this aspect of Charm City. If you're looking to visit several of the geographically separated attractions, as well as to have the full Baltimore experience, the water taxi is the way to go. Among the attractions it serves are Inner Harbor (aquarium), Federal Hill (AVAM, Port Discovery), Fells Point (restaurants/bars), and Fort McHenry. What a great way to experience the Inner Harbor of Baltimore. The water gives a truly stunning vantage point of the beautiful city of Baltimore. An all day pass is $14.00. It allows you to hopscotch between the three different water taxi lines to see many points of interest. We went to Fells Point today. It was a wonderful trip. After a long day or walking around, taking the water taxi is a great, affordable way to kill some time and take a load off. $10 for an adult, $7 for a child (weekday prices). They accept credit cards. With your ticket and hand-stamp you are given a book of coupons for various restaurants. The captains are all pretty chill, even when you are riding with obnoxious kids (ours). The only thing I would change is that there would be more outside seating. We were never able to snag a spot in the sun with the wind blowing through our hair. I was happy that the kids could eat their ice cream on the boat and that there was a trash can. read more

I like boats and the water taxi was a natural choice while in Baltimore with wife and kids for vacation (actually it was a work trip that I brought them along for). The price is a little high for a non-narrated taxi (vs a tour) but still saves money over one of the more touristy options. I can't tell if this is used by the locals to actually get around but I doubt it. The main problem is that it is confusing to figure out where they go, what the schedule is, and how long you'll have to wait to get the boat route you want. Even the employees on the boat don't seem to have any idea when the next boat is coming or where it's going. The water taxi is so nice and easy when you can get on it! Saves you parking, the price is reasonable, and it's a quick trip across the water. We primarily use it to get from Locust Point to Fells Point. I only recommend using it if you aren't on a specific schedule because the major downside is that the schedule is REALLY UNRELIABLE. This weekend is Fells Point Festival, so with all the people going over to Fells you would think the water taxi would take advantage of being a good mode of transportation. We have been waiting since 1:00 pm for the 1:13 pm ride and it is now 1:32 pm and the boat just arrived. This frequently happens when we take the water taxi, and they don't come around quickly so you can't be waiting a while. No matter how many times we check the schedule the boat shows up when it shows up, so just be aware of that if you are on a schedule. read more

The best way to get where you need to go while still getting a killer view of everything. We got our $10 worth the day we did visited LP Steamers (Tide Point, stop 10) and Fort McHenry (stop 17). Both of these locations would have taken much more time to walk, bus or taxi to. If you have a full day of sight seeing planned, or you want to play it by ear and get off and on multiple stops, I would recommend this mode of transportation. Ask the workers about how often the taxis stop at certain landings though, especially Fort McHenry and the lesser traveled stops. Before you get on a boat, make sure you know where the boat is heading because it seemed like the boats each have their own special route. There are routes to Fells Point, the Aquarium, Harbor East, Locust Point, etc. When it gets warmer the water taxi runs till 11 p.m. on the weekends. Our only complaint is the map online only runs Memorial Day through Labor Day, and the adjusted map in our brochure/coupon book appeared not to be accurate either compared to the routes posted at the actual stops. We ended up spending $14 each going back and forth to Fells Point because none of the other routes were running. Sure, we got a coupon book, and we used 1 coupon for mediocre crab dip, but the point was we wanted to ride around the harbor and explore. Be prepared for boats to pass your stop, they may be full or they may not stop there. It's cool though since some stops on land are close enough together. We never really waited for a boat and the ride was smooth and quick. DO NOT USE THE WATER TAXI UNLESS YOU DO NOT HAVE THE ABILITY TO WALK OR RIDE A METRO I took a 4 hour day trip to Baltimore from Washington DC and bought a ticket for the Water Taxi thinking that it would be a convenient and cheap way to travel around the harbor. I could not have been more wrong. The service is so slow and infrequent I wasted 2 of my precious 4 hours either on the boat or waiting in line to get on the boat. I had planned to see many things in Baltimore, but ended up only having enough time for a very brief trip to Fort McHenry and dinner due to the water taxi taking up so much time. The problem with the Water Taxi is that the boats are very slow and the boats take at least 25 minutes to show up at pick-up stops. To make matters even worse, there are transfer points between Inner Harbor and the area outside so you are required to wait ANOTHER minimum 25 minutes at those transfer stops. Water Taxi does not even have a service schedule so you cannot leave and come back when it is time for a pick up. Note: I said the wait at the stops is AT LEAST 25 minutes. I spent 40 minutes at one of the stops and 30 minutes at another one. read more

I usually just drive wherever I want to go, but this time we decided to try out something new - the water taxi, to get to the Inner Harbor from Fells Point. Like others have said, it's way too overpriced for what you get. The boats are old/cranky, and just seem unsafe. Also, you have to switch boats around a couple times just to get from Fells Point to the Aquarium, and then they have like 3 stops there, just for the fat people, I guess. I overheard from an operator that the management was trying to collaborate with the local government in making this the commuting service of choice for Baltimore residents. I doubt that's a good idea, given their current state, but anything's possible. In summary, The good: Kinda fun if you've never been to an amusement park before. Not only a fun way to get to the bars in Fells Point from the Harbor, but the coupons nearly paid for the ride! The coupon pamphlet given out had deals for various local restaurants and bars, including BOGO drafts at Max's and beers at Kooper's. BOGO! We had to wait a while for departure, but since we weren't in a rush it wasn't a problem. And I stuck my head out the back like a labrador to take in the view and wind. We used the Baltimore water taxi for a 1 hr charter prior to the rehearsal dinner on our wedding weekend. We had a lot of out of town guests and thought this would be a great way to show family and bridal party our city. They were super helpful in answering my many questions. We also booked early and got a discount. It rained the day of our charter but it was no problem because it was completely covered.
