The only trouble is that I've never worn sandals before. For over ten years it's been flip flops until it snows. And then flip flops after the first thaw. And I wanted to find some sandals that were just like flip flops. They needed to be waterproof and let my toes fly free. But they also needed to offer better support, because I'm getting old and my beloved flip flops were no longer cutting it. Oh, and did I mention that I'm almost impossible to fit? My feet are huge weighing in at size thirteen, and thank to my maternal-grandfather I've inherited his genetic mutation of a hammer toe on my left foot. The morning I walked into Track N Trail I was desperate. I had already been to a few other stores in the mall, and they were my last hope. There was one lone clerk manning the store, and he worked tirelessly to get me into a pair of something called Chaco's. And by tirelessly, I mean that we must have tried on over a dozen different brands and styles of sandals until we found one that worked. Now, I know some people are happy to buy their shoes on Zappos.com. That's what people were advising me. But I needed a bit more hand holding than that. And I can assure you had I not had the guidance and support of an actual human being that morning, I never would have found my way to this particular pair of foot ware. Which I have to say, I'm starting to really love. Yes, they are crazy expensive for what amounts to a piece of rubber strapped to my foot with some nylon. But they are designed or approved by foot doctors, and they are everything I want in a flip flop, but in the form of a sandal. Thank you Track N Trail. I hope this pair of sandals lasts me for a million years so I never have to go shoe shopping again. But if I do, I'm coming here first.

Then I try the department stores, and find the same sort of thing. I check on-line, get the shoe in the mail, try it on, hate it, then ship it back. Then I go to Track and Trail, find a shoe that I fall in love with, find that it costs only mildly more than the crap I was looking at, and buy it. They also sell other accessories, such as socks and shoe care products, all top of the line stuff. And not to forget, the service is always great. I've never had a bad experience shopping here, and at this point, most of my shoes, as well as my wife's Caterpillar (as in the bulldozers, and just as well made) boots have come from here.

As soon as we walked in the door it was like going to try on dresses with women you've known forever. They had me fill out a sheet about my wedding and instantly looked up our venue and started ooh-ing and aah-ing over it. I was there with my mom and grandma and they introduced us to how the store is laid out and then let us go through and pick out the gowns I would try on. Some places are so secretive about what the bride is doing until she has a dress on, so I was happy that they got to be a part of the dress choosing. After that we started with just three dresses to gauge my reaction to those and went from there. The staff is SO knowledgeable about both the dresses and how a dress fits into the larger overall picture of a wedding. At other bridal shops you can feel like you might as well be buying a $50 pair of jeans for all that the salespeople know about dresses and weddings, but that is not at all the case here. They are true professionals, from the intern who was sitting at the front desk to the woman who helped me with dresses, to the other sales associates who are floating around the store. They all go out of their way to be helpful and truly succeed. As if the entire experience wasn't positive enough, Nora was definitely the brightest of bright spots. Well when she went to pick up the dress a week later they had her wait an hour because the dress was being "pressed" low and behold and out of options I'm sure they came back and told her they had not in fact done the alterations. This is Monday the wedding is the upcoming Saturday. Furious the bridesmaid who was 16 by the way informed her mother about what was going on. For the next hour her mothers phone calls were ignore then forwarded to a voicemail. After a voicemail being left they called back and said that technically since we signed a contract we don't have to speak to you about the dress only the bride. Absolutely never go to this place you're better off going to a place that values the customers and want to fix mistakes if they are made.
