Cars are allowed on the ferry. There is plenty of seating inside and out, and there are two levels . The day we went it was a bit overcast, but the views of Old Quebec City , Governor's Promenade and Chateau Frontenac were wonderful. Most of the travelers on the ferry were tourists and riding the ferry for fun. It was well worth it to sit and enjoy the views.

Having read in more than one place that the Quebec-Lévis ferry is something one should do I did it…read more I won't say it was bad but neither will I say it's a must. A few days earlier a guide at a place in Old Quebec had mentioned hailing from Lévis and literally described it as a place with nothing to do and no reason to go. My readings had indicated that the sole reason to go was to see the view of Quebec City from the ferry so when the ferry landed in Lévis seeing Lévis wasn't amongst my desires. The ferry is inexpensive and tickets are purchased on site before boarding. Crossing the St. Lawrence to Lévis takes less than 20 minutes and the ride is pleasant and stable. With lots of outdoor (and indoor) seating, feeling the breeze is as good a reason as any for a ride. At Lévis one must disembark the ferry regardless of whether a return trip is planned. Taking only a brief look at the town - from the ferry terminal - provided ample information that there was no real reason for me to hang out there. If I'd missed this ferry ride - and the view of the city from the river - I'd not have been disappointed but having done it, I have no regrets.

This is a definite tourist gimmick…read more The Funiculaire in Quebec City is a short but historic vertical railway that connects the Upper Town, to the Lower Town, of Quartier Petit-Champlain. This is sometimes an essential mode of transport that allows for the navigation of the steep terrain to the lower town. When the weather is not bitterly cold and ice in abundance on the walkway, you can honestly walk down but given it was my first time in this part of Montreal, I needed to give this a woohoo whirl. $3 for a ride each way is steep for the 20 second ride. Even though it might make sense on a really chilly day in Montreal I'd say skip the ride in both directions. Going downhill is definitely easier so if you are up top, just walk down. There was nobody else wanting to take the cab up or down when I went, probably because most everyone else just walked the path on the day I went. At minimum it was efficient and easy to get in the cab.

The location was out in the country, about 30 minutes outside Quebec City. We were offered hot chocolate or coffee, tucked in under a blanket, and off we went through the snow covered woods. An amazing way to experience Vieux Québec!…read more Definitely pricey at 90$ for minimum 35 minutes but at least our guide made it sooooo worth it...he took us around for at least an hour by my estimation! He spoke English the while time which wasn't his first language but he did awesome! It was super appreciated parce que malgré que mon français n'est pas si pire malheureusement mon chum comprend très peu. There was an expected tip with this service as well...which i was more than happy to accommodate because of how awesome our guide and horse were...but i ended up leaving 20$ as a tip and i'm not sure if that was cheap or not but i hope it conveyed how happy we were with the service. I should have just asked him what he normally gets tipped. We learned so much about the city and saw so many things we can't wait to go back and discover more of! As a funny anecdote: when the ride was over the driver said "there are so many flEAs today" which being bilingual i immediately understood to be "flIEs" but mispronounced due to the language barrier and thought nothing more of it...i later found out my boyfriend understood it literally as FLEAS lol and being that we had our dog with us he avoided the horse for the rest of the time we were there lol!! My friend and I recently spent four nights in room 101. It was the perfect setup for 2 friends…read moretraveling together, who appreciate their own beds and their own space. There was also a small kitchenette, fireplace that came in handy on a very cold rainy day, and a living room area. The TV only works if you have a YouTube account. It was not important to us, but it may be to you, which is why I mention it. While some may describe it as 'shabby chic',we thought the rock walls and exposed beams were charming. We enjoyed looking out the big windows that overlooked the inner courtyard. The squirrels were quite entertaining. The bathroom was large and included both a tub and shower. While our reservation included breakfast each morning, we only ate there once. We found fruit, breads, pastry, boiled eggs, coffee, and juices. It was perfectly fine, but we found a nearby pastry and coffee place we enjoyed more. We'd happily stay here again if ever in Quebec City.

This was our second visit to Hotel Le Priori and we have loved both stays!…read more We arrived quite early so our room was not ready yet, but they held our luggage so we could go explore the city. When we checked back (still prior to regular check in time) our room was ready and they had already transferred our luggage there. We stayed in a suite, which is across a small courtyard from the main hotel. It's a big, cozy suite with a large living area with an electric fireplace, a kitchen, two beds, and a very large bathroom. A nice breakfast buffet is included with your stay. On our last night, the entire lower town lost electricity for four hours, but the staff handled everything very professionally and were super helpful. They handed out small flashlights and had the stairs illuminated with glow sticks. We were concerned that it would get very cold since the temperature outside was 19 degrees fahrenheit (-7 C), however those old houses were built to keep the cold out and it honestly did not get cold at all. We would not have even realized the heat was out if it weren't for the lights being out as well. If you're looking for a place to stay in the quiet Lower Town, we would highly recommend Le Priori!

Was also impressed with the dessert we had at Matto, the hotel restaurant (wished we'd had time to try the full dinner menu as well). The service and ambience were great. Just a few minor notes: The bathroom was very nice and beautifully decorated, but the way the shower was constructed, lots of water routinely flowed out into the rest of the bathroom. Though not ideal, this wasn't a dealbreaker and easily solved with extra towels to wipe it up. The bathroom also could have used a few extra towel bars or places to hang up wet clothes/towels, especially during the rainy/snowy season.

We had stopped by the day before to make sure they had availability, and they took the initiative and got our bikes set up for the next day before we showed up. We were ready to go in minutes. We reserved ahead but staff were flexible when our plans unfortunately had to change (I rode a single the first week when my partner couldn't get away). Staff went all out to make sure we had a wonderful visit. Cyclo provided well-fitting helmets, a lock, and bungie cords. Cycling is a great way to see this beautiful part of the world.
