This is a definite tourist gimmick…read more The Funiculaire in Quebec City is a short but historic vertical railway that connects the Upper Town, to the Lower Town, of Quartier Petit-Champlain. This is sometimes an essential mode of transport that allows for the navigation of the steep terrain to the lower town. When the weather is not bitterly cold and ice in abundance on the walkway, you can honestly walk down but given it was my first time in this part of Montreal, I needed to give this a woohoo whirl. $3 for a ride each way is steep for the 20 second ride. Even though it might make sense on a really chilly day in Montreal I'd say skip the ride in both directions. Going downhill is definitely easier so if you are up top, just walk down. There was nobody else wanting to take the cab up or down when I went, probably because most everyone else just walked the path on the day I went. At minimum it was efficient and easy to get in the cab.

The doors curved open and close. The seats were comfortable and the scenery was enjoyable! The train stations of either end of the ride are beautiful, lots of shops and clean, lots of stained glass and ornate. The outside of the building was even more beautiful! Compared this train to Amtrack, this is MOST IMPROVED!

We had stopped by the day before to make sure they had availability, and they took the initiative and got our bikes set up for the next day before we showed up. We were ready to go in minutes. We reserved ahead but staff were flexible when our plans unfortunately had to change (I rode a single the first week when my partner couldn't get away). Staff went all out to make sure we had a wonderful visit. Cyclo provided well-fitting helmets, a lock, and bungie cords. Cycling is a great way to see this beautiful part of the world. Riding on a horse-drawn sleigh had been on my bucket list for years so I was thrilled to book one…read morethrough Calèches Québec. The location was out in the country, about 30 minutes outside Quebec City. We were offered hot chocolate or coffee, tucked in under a blanket, and off we went through the snow covered woods. The ride was 40 minutes long, which included a stop for photos-I really appreciate the great photos and videos they took on my phone for me. We absolutely recommend this tour!

An amazing way to experience Vieux Québec!…read more Definitely pricey at 90$ for minimum 35 minutes but at least our guide made it sooooo worth it...he took us around for at least an hour by my estimation! He spoke English the while time which wasn't his first language but he did awesome! It was super appreciated parce que malgré que mon français n'est pas si pire malheureusement mon chum comprend très peu. There was an expected tip with this service as well...which i was more than happy to accommodate because of how awesome our guide and horse were...but i ended up leaving 20$ as a tip and i'm not sure if that was cheap or not but i hope it conveyed how happy we were with the service. I should have just asked him what he normally gets tipped. We learned so much about the city and saw so many things we can't wait to go back and discover more of! As a funny anecdote: when the ride was over the driver said "there are so many flEAs today" which being bilingual i immediately understood to be "flIEs" but mispronounced due to the language barrier and thought nothing more of it...i later found out my boyfriend understood it literally as FLEAS lol and being that we had our dog with us he avoided the horse for the rest of the time we were there lol!! We will stay here again!…read more A lovely week's stay in the private cabin behind the school. Very close to everything and we walked most anywhere we needed to. It was clean, comfortable and had everything we needed. We especially appreciated having a parking lot on site, so we didn't need to pay exorbitant prices or look for parking elsewhere. What also amazed us was how quiet our stay was considering that we were only half a block away from a very busy street. Honestly, we would rate this Hotel an A+++.

They do not offer parking but reasonable parking was located nearby at the parking garage under City Hall - a very short walk away. (there was an unloading zone in front of the hotel so you could stop briefly to unload your luggage) Our room was very nice. And the best part of the hotel is the location - close to the Frontenac, near the Dufferin Terrace, across from a small park and near many good restaurants. This is a great spot to stay.
