Orleans Express is the answer to the question of how to get yourself between the towns of Montreal…read moreand Quebec City. I made advance reservations on-line for a 1-way trip for two. Twice, I changed those reservations, each time initiating the change via email and each time I received a prompt response and new tickets as requested. The bus is clean and efficient, takes 3.25 hours, has a restroom on board, and stores your luggage pre-boarding. The cost for this service? About $52 per person including tax which seemed reasonable and far easier than flying. The ride was so smooth and easy that I wish I'd booked a return trip to Montreal instead of trying to fly out of Quebec City.

We got to the bus station at 9:26 AM. The person behind the counter was saying all sorts of gibberish, which we didn't understand. He also said we should book the 9:30 AM because there was plenty of time to get on the bus. By the time he rang us up, we ran to the gate, the bus was pulling out. We went back to him and asked to be booked on the 10:30 AM bus and he just kept flailing his arms and saying his gibberish. I finally had to tell him I didn't understand anything he was saying and to just book us, which he finally did. Horrible customer service, they should have someone who is good at communicating with customers. This is especially important when it comes to traveling on a bus. If it was a cafe or bakery the gibberish would be acceptable. The bus itself was quite nice and clean. There were tray tables, outlets under the seats and little baggies.

There is a sauna and an exterior Jaccuzi which my wife and I enjoyed immensely. Despite all of this, the manager, Regis Barthe, who is also the chef, has no support staff! He was handling everything from checking guests in, to showing the rooms, answering the phones, check outs, cooking, waiting on tables, bartender, and maitre'D ! He was completely left floundering for himself... And somehow pulled off the most incredible meals! The guy is a European trained chef, and prepared his own creations from the local terroir... Such as filet de canard, and chèvre braisse. He is an exemplary chef, but the owners of the place need to pay attention and give him help... He can't do it all. We've given 3 stars only because of the lack of staffing... You can't serve guests properly with one guy, the chef, doing it all!! We'd go back for his meal genius alone, but the owners better help him out.

We enjoyed a drink on the comfortable porch before going in to the cozy dining room. Menu was small but varied enough and was local based. We enjoyed some pork, duck, gand veal along with good salads and delicious fresh vegetables. Smoked salmon appetizer made on premise was excellent. Classic french cuisine. There was a fish and beef option as well. Everything was nicely presented. This was definitely as good a meal as any we had in Quebec city Regis, the chef, and his wife Claire, both from France, were both charming and very helpful as inn managers as well. Claire booked us on a whale watching tour the next AM in Baie-St-Catherine which was well worth it. We had to leave before breakfast the next morning so Regis prepared a delicious mignerone cheese sandwich for us to take on the road.
