DISAPPOINTING BOAT TOUR As part of a large group tour, we went on the AML M/V Louis Jolliet lunch cruise. Our bus tour guide dropped us off at the dock and the table service lunch was served as the boat left Basse Ville. No one realized there was an ongoing commentary during the cruise that was not being broadcasted into the dining room. It wasn't until a fellow diner returned to our table and told us we should step outside to listen to the commentary - by then we had passed Montmorency Falls and probably some other noteworthy sights. While it was nice to have lunch on the boat, the point of the boat tour was to see sights along the St. Lawrence River and learn about them. We wish we had skipped the sit-down lunch and just grabbed a bite and enjoyed the full cruise and commentary on the deck. read more

It was recommended to me by another who showed me a link to a discount. Unfortunately, when I called in (couldn't get the discount online), I needed a discount voucher which apparently came from another page and that page was no longer there. So off to a bad start, the guy on the phone tried very hard to find the link so his efforts were truly appreciated. I had decided to book anyways. Leave at noon to st Anne de beaupré and back 4:30pm arrive 530pm Quebec. It was a pleasant ride on top. This was more like a shuttle. No talk along the way. St Anne has a infamous church. We went to that. Otherwise is it quite the sleepy town. We wanted to make sure we arrived back as it had appeared on our way there, the captain had signaled he was at capacity and some people were left behind. I didn't want that! Reminded me the ferry to Toronto centre island, you've got the ticket but no guarantee you'll be on the boat unless you're there a bit early. It was less than capacity on our return. Do not let your trip to Quebec City go by without taking this Boat Tour--it was excellent! One of the highlights of my visit to Quebec City in September 2021. Very well narrated in English and French alternating by the talented host, lot's of history, beautiful scenery, they have drinks and snacks for purchase on board. Dress warm and for Wind! Your hair will blow off on the top deck. You will get a great view of the waterfalls which you should also make sure you visit separately. When I was there in September 2021 you needed to show proof of a vaccine to get on board. If you did not have a vaccine they allowed you to sit on the shoreline and watch the ship depart. read more

We booked the 3-hour dinner cruise in Quebec City. The first hour was nice, we cruised down to the waterfall & back. but just as the sunset was getting nice, we pulled back to the dock!?!? dinner is served and we are sitting at the dock, staring at the side of a wall - missing the entire sunset! we were at dock for 45 minutes of the 3-hour cruise while they exited the 1-hour cruiser from the top decks and loaded the next 1-hour cruisers. such a disappointment. read more

This is a great cruise with interesting narratives along the way. Wait staff will come around a couple times if you prefer staying in your seat throughout the cruise. If you feel like stretching your legs, then food and beverages are served inside the cabin, which is very spacious. On sunny days, do not forget to bring sunblock and a hat (the bigger the better because the sun will get your face and back of the neck as the ship changes its direction). We booked the full day whale watching excursion from Quebec City, 8/18/2025. We did see beluga whales and minke whale they were great.the scenery is wonderful. (2 stars) The bus ride and guides were terrible. Late arrival, the bus guide was awful in French and English, she spent most of her time asking for tips and rushing us after they were late. Very disorganized. The boat was crowded and the tour guide did a so-so job of pointing out the whales. The return trip is over 2 1/2 hours no stops and our bus guide told us we better go to the bathroom on the boat as there was no time to stop at the dock. She did not speak the entire way back except to ask for tips. I know this cruise can be better as I took it last year in September and it was very nice. The staff seems to blame everything on not seeing enough wildlife, sadly that is not the issue it is the disinterested staff and the company that hires and pays them. Seeing artic animals in their habitat should be a special experience, i am aware that the season is ending and the staff maybe bored, but the lack of care and unprofessionalism is unacceptable. Do better!!! read more

Arrived Friday afternoon to book the Quebec excursion for 2p.m. Was instructed that the boat was experiencing "mechanical issues". Was does that mean? Like, it's either seaworthy or not. Was instructed to show up at around 1:30 p.m. for further developments. Showed up, with a slew of people waiting to buy tickets. Was instructed by the cashier that the boat would still be experiencing "mechanical issues". There were apparently many people who did not have a problem with any apparent boat issues! They were patiently waiting in line for the supposed 2p.m. departure..... Ended up passing on the tour. We had already been on this cruise, so it was not much of a letdown. We also saved over $100, which was ok. read more

Nice experience overall. The staff was very welcoming, attentive, and professional. Prices are in line with other water cruise companies. They offer a multitude of cruise options depending on your own time availability, budget, and interests. We chose the 4 hour dinner and entertainment cruise. I really enjoyed the time spent out on the water, the artistic performers, and party- like atmosphere and music. Next time, I would not opt to have dinner on board. Food was on the ok side, but did add a nice touch to the evenings experience. A small cafe offers ready made sandwiches and other foods as another option . read more

I did the 2pm boat tour on the Louis Jolliet, which docked on the St. Lawrence River at Quartier Petit Champlain. It's 1.5 hours and goes around a bit of the River. It's $39 but it you have a CAA/AAA card, there's $7 off. Whoohoo! We went up and down the St. Lawrence River a bit. We turned around just before the bridge and went by Montmorency Falls, which are taller than Niagara Falls. It would have been nice to have paused for a minute or two so everyone could take pictures ... especially since our guide told everyone to head to the right side of the boat so they could take pictures. Great day to be on the water ,,, it was sunny and not too chilly. read more

Don't waste your time or money. The boat does a quick pass quite a ways from the falls. The pictures online are deceptive - you do not go any where close. Waste of our day. We booked a Whale Watching Tour with Upper Deck Exclusive Access in Tadoussac cruise tickets for the AML Grand Fleuve departing from Tadoussac, Quebec for 15 July, 2024. However, we arrived at the harbour and discovered we would be on a much smaller boat, not the AML Grand Fleuve. Over the phone, we were informed that the Whale Watching Tour with an Upper Deck Exclusive Access in Tadoussac was no longer available and that our tickets had been downgraded to regular, but we were assured we would still be on the same boat. When we picked up the tickets at their office, they confirmed it would be the same boat. Yet, at the harbour, it was clear we had been misled and were boarding a smaller vessel. The smaller boat was super crowded. This misrepresentation in ticket sales was highly disappointing. Had we known we would be on a smaller boat, we wouldn't have driven from Mississauga, Ontario to Tadoussac, Quebec. Such deceptive practices are unacceptable from a well-established company. I am rating the experience two stars solely because of the knowledgeable naturalist on board. read more

We drove our rental car to the docks at St Catherine's, so I can't speak to the bus ride. Upon getting there they outfitted you with gear to wear which was super. The zodiac that we were on had a good captain and took us out pretty far so we could find some whale tales, and we did. We've been to two tours this week on Croisières AML. Both get an A+. The dinner cruise in Quebec City was exceptional. The staff was awesome. The food was amazing and it doesn't do justice to the amazing women who were dancers and acrobats to call this a circus presentation . It as a delightful evening. Today we had the great pleasure of touring Sageuany fjord 2 here urs from Quebec. It's the worlds largest fjords rd and again the tour was exceptional. The St. Lawrence river Louis Jolliet AML scenic boat tour was nothing great over 90 minutes. They had the refreshment area closed on the top deck and the deck below was setting up for dinner (4PM cruise) so had to hunt out a refreshment. Drink prices were on the high side but fit right in with Quebec high pricing. Got to see the falls. They talked a little bit of history. Got to see the city from the water..... Pictures at $15 were not worth buying especially when it didn't say where you were or the day. read more

My family and I went on the Whale Watching Tour and had a great time. We saw humpback whales and seals. I really enjoyed the spectacular views of the Fjord. Our boat captain got us really close to a fall at the Fjord and a tower. The downside is the length of the tour, 6 hours to go and come back to Quebec, and the fact that the cruise sells fast food like if it were restaurant food. read more

We went on two different cruises through AML. The first was the dinner cruise and circus. Beautiful view as we ate, being close to the windows (even though it was really bright until the sun went down). The 5-course meal was delicious. There were two courses I didn't eat because I'm picky, but my husband tried everything and only disliked the chicken liver mousse. The bar got a little behind on making drinks, but the waitress was very apologetic and friendly, making sure we were happy. We finished eating and went out to the main deck for the show, which was entertaining. For the last hour of the cruise, we sat on the top deck and enjoyed the nighttime city view. My only complaint was that we were seated next to a family that had a loud and rambunctious child, whom they allowed to bang on the windows and run around the room. I feel like the staff could have politely asked the parents to have her sit down. The second cruise was the whale-watching express package. The brochure claims the bus ride is less than 2.5 hours, but it's really about 3 hours. There's a stop along the way for snacks, but we also brought some of our own too. It was a beautiful day and we saw lots of whales! But they do make the disclaimer that you may not get as lucky; the whales don't care how much you paid to see them! It does get cold on the boat, so dress appropriate so you don't have to buy an overpriced jacket in the gift shop. We were also told to bring food of our own despite signs that say no outside food or drinks allowed...but we weren't the only ones doing it. Overall we enjoyed both cruises! We created great memories to share with friends and family. read more

Great way to view the St. Lawrence River in a 1930's ferry, AML Louis Jolliet. For extra charge you can do a brunch as well. You are greeted embarking the cruise around 11:30 AM (they have a later sailing at 2PM) by the staff, crew and 2 period dressed guides like King Louis. They explain the sites as the cruise sails close to the Ile d'Orleans where we were told 13 generations of Descendants of Francophone settlers still reside. It passes the Chute Montmorency Falls, taller than Niagara but not as wide. There are other interesting historical facts you learn on the cruise not to mention the greats views in the 90 mins ride. One of the announcers spoke 3 languages - English, French and Spanish. Cost was $35 per person plus tax. read more

We took the boat ride it was part of our ALL LOOPS 2 DAY Quebec bus tour $60. You can buy the boat ride only if you like at the pier. The disappointing part of the ride was we did not get any where near the falls. You could see it off in the distance. The boat ride was good to get out on the water and see the city from the river, and get a bit about the history in the surrounding area but they sell it for the Montmorency falls even the brochure makes it look like you get close but no. if you get this ride as part of the all loops 2 day pass think about the time you will be losing on all the other parts of this pass gets you because you will get all 4 bus lines and time is limited so choose wisely how you want to spend your time. read more

We had a great time on this city cruise. Well worth the price. It last a couple of hours going from the port to nearly the Falls. Lots of great history shared by the tour guide (over the PA system). Plenty of options for seating ranging from various height decks, side rails, interior areas with air-conditioning, etc. A nice bar and gift shop. read more

We went on the whale watching cruise on the first date it started mid-may. We saw a few whales but not as many as one would see later in the season. If you go on this bring a warm jacket because the deck can be windy and cold. The boat slows down and stops in an area to watch whales so it - it only gets cold once the boat starts traveling again and then you can go inside. We were told when we booked this to bring food since it's not provided. You can actually buy fast food - a tiny selection and more expensive- on the boat. But there is a sign on the boat not to bring your own food. I think there were lots of people who had their own food on the boat. I'd recommend either eating beforehand or bringing it with you. read more

Myself and two friends planned a whale watching cruise in St. Cathrine Bay, Quebec with AML a month before the trip. Two weeks prior to the cruise, we realized that we cannot go because I have a work trip to attend to (I'm in the military). I called them to cancel our cruise and they said that it's NOT REFUNDABLE! They advised that we reschedule to a later date but I couldn't due to the nature of my job. They also failed to tell me through telephone when I was initially booking the cruise that it's not refundable. Plus, they were pretty rude to me about me trying to cancel and they were not understanding of my situation. No we're $250 poorer thanks to these thieves! I don't understand this, hotels and such can cancel your bookings free of charge but AML can't?! I recommend you take your money to a different cruise company. read more

I took my parents on the guided sightseeing cruise. The speaker in the middle room was not working. I asked for the sound to be increased and was told that I was sitting in the "quiet room". I questioned why anyone would pay for a narrated sightseeing tour and want silence. He said that some people do. i was told by another crew member later that the amplifier blew out the night before. I did not receive what I paid for and was lie to by Croisieres ALM personnel. When I requested a refund, I was told that I got what I paid for an that there would be no refund. If all I wanted was a boat ride, I would get on my dad's boat. I paid for a historical, narrated sightseeing tour and received a $92 boat ride. read more
