This is our first time in Quebec. We believe the best way to get to see and know a city is by walking it so we signed up for the 3:30 Grand Walking Tour. It was perfect! Our guide was (Ghi) not sure how to spell it but he was wonderful. He provided a ton of information and was happy to answer any questions. He spoke English well and he's a very nice man. As we walked from one landmark to another, he told us the history, facts and folklore about the upper and lower old Quebec. Not only did we get a great tour of the city, I got my bearings and have a plan as to what to go back to for further exploration. We LOVE Quebec!

I went on the 2.5 hour food tour, and looking at the reviews here they seem to have updated it a bit. Whether it's for the better or worse I don't know, but I personally really enjoyed it (hey, free food! Who wouldn't want that?). The stops in the food tour include La Crémaillère, La Patriarche, Les Delices De L'erable, Ninkasi, Le Moine Échanson, Le Billig, and Érico. Each of the stops features some of the most authentic European or Quebecois French cuisine, and they are famous for cuisines such as wine, beer, maple syrup, cheese, crepes, ham, and chocolate. Some other places we stopped at include Quebec City Hall, the Morrin Centre, Place d'Youville, SAQ, and Épicerie J A Moisan. Our tour guide was very informative and had great connections with the employees in each of the food tour stops. She added the other places for stops as well as she wanted to make this a unique tour with a bit of historical background and not just about food, and I personally found it was done very well. The only drawback I had with the tour was not with the tour itself, but there were a few stops where the employees lacked knowledge of their products. At one of the stops the employee talking to us had to get another person to explain the products cause she couldn't explain them in English. I didn't mind too much since French is the language of communication in Quebec, but it was enough of a headache for me to rate it 4 stars instead of 5. If this is your first time in Quebec and you want to know different cuisines or restaurant ideas, this is definitely a tour you should consider.

I've been to Quebec City before but never on a guided walking tour. What made this tour so great was Jocelyne Belleau. She's been doing these tours for about 15 years but instead of sounding tired and bored, she sounded excited and enthusiastic as if this was the first tour she was giving. Mix in some history and humor and it was a wonderful and educational experience.

Basing this review on the price, the service when purchasing tickets, and, most importantly, the guide. Our tour guide, Jean-Francois, was terrific! His pride in Quebec, being a 13 generation Quebec native, was evident. His clear presentation of facts, his attention to the questions of the group, and extending the tour to close to 3 hours made him worthy of 5 stars! The cost of the tour was reasonable for a family. Purchasing the tickets at the information booth was a breeze. They offer many English speaking tours each day.

We spent 5 days in Quebec and did several tours. There is one that stood out to us and we wanted to mention it . It was our walking tour with the tour guide Francois Vidal. This tour guide was amazing and detailed and friendly. We learned more in the 2.5 hours walking with him than we did on the other 5 tours we took. His passion and excitement for Quebec was evident. It's was a true pleasure. I would also like to add that I did a walking tour with someone else and it was no where as good. This guy truly rocked the tour. I must add that I can tell the differences in the types of construction now!

The tour itself begins near the waterfront and winds through the cobblestoned streets of Old Town, with amazing 18th century architecture the whole time. Although there are formidable, steep hills on the tour, don't worry! The transition to the fortified area is a blast, as a ride up the funiculaire is included in the tour, so the walk ends up being very relaxed, even if you're not a hill climber. My iPhone told me afterwards we walked a total of about 1.5mi. (2.4km). The tour ends near the Notre Dame cathedral, where we were turned loose to explore on our own We had a great time. HQ also rents e-bikes, although we passed on them. That was a little too daring for us senior citizens . On July 10 at 12:23pm we received an email message that our tour was being cancelled "due to circumstances out of our (the tour company's) control." The company asked if we would be available on July 11 or July 13 for rebooking (we were NOT available). Less than one hour later (1:09pm to be exact) we received another email stating "You can disregard my previous email. I was able to find a solution." We responded, "Thank you. We will plan on our original reservation." On the day of the scheduled event (July 12, 20024) we arrived early at the restaurant for our 11:30am tour. At 11:22am, seeing neither a tour representative nor other tour participants, I telephone the tour company but only got an answering machine message, spoke in French (which I could not understand). At 11:29am I sent an email to the tour company stating, "We are waiting at La Buche but see no guide. Please confirm today's tour is planned as originally scheduled." Around the same time we learned from the guide of a different food tour group (but with the same tour company) that the starting point of our tour had apparently been changed. WE WERE NEVER NOTIFIED !!! At 1:10pm I finally received a call from a company representative who apologized for the situation. Our travel plans did not allow us to "reschedule" the tour, and by this time our disappointment and frustration at having been "stood up" led us to demand an immediate refund of the tour payment. We had believed this food tour would be a true HIGH POINT of our visit to Quebec City. Instead, it became a COMPLETE DISASTER. We have traveled to many places internationally over several decades and never, ever experienced such a failure to communicate

We didn't expect four stops with just about 40 minutes left for each of the two places we really wanted to visit. The trip to the island was a surprise but it was just to see an ice cream / chocolate shop. Surely there were more things to see on the island. The copper demonstration was also a surprise. The artist was lovely and the cooper beautiful but is is definitely not something we were interested in. Another reviewer said cut this from the tour - I agree. I would have rather spent more time at St Anne's. The falls weren't as promised. The cable cars weren't running and the paths were still closed. So we viewed the falls from quite a distance. They should have told us the cable cars weren't operative. Very disappointing to say the least. St Anne's was lovely. We arrived just as mass started which was odd - we sat and joined services for a bit so we wouldn't disrupt the congregation. We should have arrived before or after mass not during mass. We had a car and could have saved $110 plus the bus driver tip and driven the short 15 - 20 minute drive ourselves. The falls and St Anne's are about 10 minutes apart. For the falls we would have parked at the top and walked across the bridge at the top (which was open) rather than view the falls from a block or two away. For the church, we would have arrived before mass so we could have walked around without disturbing the parishioners. If you don't have a car - this tour permits you to see St Anne's and the falls but I would make sure the cable cars are working (we were told they are closed until mid to late June 2023). Alternatively, if you don't have a car - I encourage you to check into uber. You could probably spend less for the three car rides and spend more time at St Anne's and at the Falls.
