After we spent thousands of dollars on design fees, the quote for the furniture and rugs exceeded our budget by 33%. When questioned, Jim replied... "Oh, the budget for decorating never includes design fees, tax, or delivery". Wow, that would have been nice to know upfront. In all my business dealings a budget is a budget. Our issues started early and continued almost 18 months Jim came up with 5 designs for our great room. Of course, we paid for this in design time. We spent hours going thru magazines to show Jim what our taste in decorating was. We wanted "comfortable and classy", what he came back with looked nothing like what we had asked for. Clearly, he didn't listen but was happy to charge us for more time spent on design. The furniture he quoted was overpriced even with the "designer discount" as I found it less expensive online. When we informed Jim that we would order some furniture ourselves he told us he strongly advised against it stating the problems that can arise that often need attorneys to get involved. Well, the opposite happened, our online orders were handled very well with strong communication and delivery included in our pricing. In addition, when the first set of chairs, ordered thru Ireko, arrived they were damaged, then again 5 months later when the "repaired" chairs were received, once again they were damaged in different places. So much for careful inspection before we came to pick them up...oh, I forgot, the freight charged is to a storage facility, not to your home. That is an extra delivery charge. I have been in business for 48 years and have never felt such abuse and condescension.

I have specifically been working with Andrea, who has patiently answered a constant peppering of questions. The one question she didn't know the answer to offhand was thoroughly researched and followed up on. She also presented multiple options based on my room requirements in a custom PDF with photos, layouts, dimensions, fabric selections and prices in an easy to understand format -this is priceless in a world where too many choices can least to analysis paralysis. Regarding their products, they are one of the few companies that prioritize non-toxic and sustainable solutions. The furniture is built to last and very worth the investment. Recently, my home has started looking very 1990s to me. So I decided to finally get rid of some of the old budget furniture I'd bought when I was younger and poorer and spring for some nice stuff. I then did a lot of searching on the Crate and Barrel and Pottery Barn websites, but everything started to look the same. Including the very high prices. One day I stopped in to Harvest and quickly loved what I saw. Barbara was working that day, and dropped everything to help me find exactly what I needed. She was not at all hard-sell, but went out of her way to show me things that might excite me. She even offered to come by my home so she could see what my challenges were. She quickly came up with a few excellent suggestions. We started with a coffee table and a rug. Then I spotted some pillows I liked that might help bring my old sofas back to life. Then a pair of bedside lamps. Then an easy chair. Then I stopped. For now... The prices on all of these items were lower than they'd have been at other local retailers. Even with custom-made pillows! Home furnishings of this quality are hard to find, much less at prices like this. My shopping experience with Mary was superb. She had to jump through a few hoops to get things done for me. But to her, nothing other than perfect was acceptable. By the way, delivery happened quickly, and even the two delivery guys were total pros. Harvest is a fantastic locally owned retailer. I'll definitely be back soon.

What was once heavy, yellowish, stained, scratched and tired is now a dreamy creamy light beige with the most gorgeous detailing. They thoughtfully retained and carefully cleaned the original hardware, which adds so much character and charm. The delicate veneer wood tops on the nightstands were expertly restained and now look rich and intentional rather than worn. Beyond the cosmetic transformation, their craftsmanship and service truly impressed me. They repaired broken dresser drawer tracks so everything functions smoothly again, and they even fixed an old light inside one of the drawers that hasn't worked in years. The entire set feels brand new while still honoring its original character. It's rare to find someone who combines artistry, attention to detail, and true restoration skill the way they do. If you're considering refinishing furniture instead of replacing it, this is your sign, and you will be absolutely thrilled with the result.

I hired Pat McDonough to paint our office as we were moving out. He and his crewed had worked with my supervisor before and I thought it best to go with a personal recommendation. We were mostly looking for them to paint and patch two rooms that were painted a dark grey but needed to be white and then paint and patch the large office area, filling holes, evening out the color etc. He showed up without much notice during the lunch hour one day to do the quote. The quote seems fair and reasonable so . When it came time for the job he and his crew didn't show up on the day they had planned to come in. He was slow to respond to messages and phone calls about his no show and blamed me for him not showing up. He was very rude with me and wasn't willing to work with our work schedule the next day for the job. He even went around me, the main contact for the job, and talked to my mail supervisor (who was out of town). During the job he wasn't there the whole day and wouldn't make himself available for a walk through. When I went to try to meet him at 3pm, Pat wasn't there and his crew had already packed up having only worked a 6-7 hours for a job that was quoted to take 2-3 days. I did a walk through with one of the guys in the crew who was very nice and I pointed out that the walls needed at least another 1-2 coats on the two rooms because I could see streaks of the dark color under the light color. In the main space there were many many spots that needed attention. I tried calling Pat on the phone to talk to him about finishing the job but he refused to answer. He did call one of the painters on his crew, who was standing next to me, and talk to him about my walk through. I heard him talk about me to the man about how I didn't know what I was talking about but do the bare minimum to make me happy. The painter agreed with me that they needed more work on the rooms and argued that they could come back tomorrow in the morning. Pat brushed him off and agreed and they hung up. The painter said he would meet with me in the morning at 9:30am to review that everything was they way it should be. He said they would be there from 8-11am the next day. I wrote Pat, again, reviewing what just happened. No response. At 8am the next day I messaged Pat to ask if I would be seeing him that morning when I did the final walk through. He replied no and that his crew would just be doing one coat on the two rooms and they will be packed up by 9:30a. I called him and he was beyond disrespectful with his language and tone. He said he was done with the job, it was "good enough". He called the space "shitty" and said that I shouldn't expect much of their work because of the space. He included some personal insults to me. I pointed out that I hired him to do a job and that I expected that job to be done and he started to yell at me and said he was done talking to me about, that I didn't know what I was talking about, and that he would only take criticism from my male supervisor. He was done talking to me and hung up. When I showed up at the space, no one was there. The two rooms did get one more coat but the main space still had a lot to be desired. Many of the spots I had pointed out during the walk through were not taken care of. The whole experience was terrible. Pat was right though, the job was good enough, but I thought I hired someone to do a good job and do it right. I expected an A, not a C+. If you are a woman, non-binary, or queer person, I wouldn't recommend hiring Pat.
