Reclaimed wood beam for fireplace mantle.
    Craig N.

Before and after finishing the reclaimed hand hewn beam from Heritage Salvage. Looks great on my completed fireplace!!

Today I'm at Heritage Restoration and "Bug" himself took a minute to talk about this wonderful business here.

I love this place. It still is the best place to wander and find that piece of ancient weathered wood for that special project, or a beautiful rusty piece to put on the wall or out in your garden. They still have the nicest people in the world working there. I recently did a walking tour with Ross Friedrich, and this guy has a passion for finding wood that can be repurposed into an incredible piece of furniture or help something outside make a statement. I always spend about an hour looking at everything they have. I was even fortunate enough to have a visit from Michael "Bug" Deakin this time. If you look at my pics I have a photo of a painted caricature of him. He was a hoot. You should know everyone that works there act like family. They look so happy there. Still at the top of my visit list for Petaluma.

The mantle turned out so beautiful thanks to her!!

Ok I cannot be happier with the service I got from this salvage yard! I am blanking one her name but the woman who runs the grounds there was incredible!! A few months back my husband and I came there to get a beam for our mantle. She walked the entire lot with us and showed so much care in what she was doing. After lots of looking we found the perfect beam!!!! I could not thank her enough!

I was searching for a unique, rustic "barn door" to complete my master bath remodel project. After looking at all of the products online and visiting several local stores, I simply couldn't find anything that really "spoke" to me in terms of the design, finish and price. The barn doors that I did find, were all out of state and fairly pricey and the risk for buying out of state was too high. I did some digging online and the only "local" option seemed to be a custom barn door created by Heritage Salvage in Petaluma, CA. Although a 1 1/2 hr drive, I was willing to make the trek to check them out. From the first phone call with Teresa, to the visit onsite with the crew, Lisa and Teresa helped me locate and design the most beautiful reclaimed chicken coop flooring and turned it into a master piece. Knowing that I was on a super tight timeline to get the door completed before my husband arrived home from overseas, these gals exceeded my expectations tenfold. I'm so pleased with the outcome and this piece is now one of the main signature pieces to my master bedroom and bathroom design. Best of all, it makes for an incredible story as well. ( I raise chickens too!) Thank you Heritage Salvage. I'll be back for more inspiration!!

This wonderful place is mesmerizing for any of us who have even the slightest interest in wood, rusty metal, vintage pieces, and creativity!!! Come for inspiration or come have fun searching for the star piece of your next project! All kinds of prices and friendly customer service! Parking inside and dog-friendly!

Beautiful Maple for sign and salvaged steel barn door track for LED lights from Heritage Salvage

I recently made a Christmas gift for a friends restaurant using some "discarded treasures", I found at Heritage Salvage. I built a rolling sign/menu/planter cart at The Crucible in Oakland. The beautiful maple for the sign and the salvaged steel barn door track holding the LED strip lights and the redwood surrounding the planter box were all found at Heritage Salvage. The redwood is salvaged from the Krug Winery dance floor. I love designing and building things with salvaged parts. It often adds serendipity and charm to a project. The frame for the menu display is salvaged steel stair railing. The rolling base is a vintage cast iron scale base, I have had for years. The trellis above the planter is rock screen. Blacksmith Artist, Celeste Flores forged and power hammered the top scroll. Heritage Salvage is on my "scavenger" tour route and I often find cool stuff there, to add to my stash of stuff, for unknown future projects. The staff is very nice, knowledgeable and helpful.

Absolutely toxic people and process. In my 72 yrs as a…read moreconsumer, I have never dealt with such disgusting people. I bought a Fjords Helsinki chair from a Petaluma shop called Roe and Co. several months ago. We bought it on the sale at 20% and were very excited to bring to our home. We paid the 50% deposit and were notified the chair could be picked up assembled or in two boxes. We asked it be assembled and to please assure everything worked right ... and not really agile with assembly stuff. We were told twice - once by Dan and another time by co-owner Michelle, to call the assembly shop in Santa Rosa, 24 hours in advance to have chair assembled and ready for pick up. We called 48 hours in advance and were given a very confusing disorganized response to this request, something to the effect, well don't come at 10 o'clock on opening because they wont be ready and have to assemble it. I said that was why I was calling as told at least 24 hours in advance so they could assemble prior to pick up at 10 am on Friday 2/21.... and believed that they thus understood it would be assembled and tested ti make sure it all worked according to specifications. We paid two movers w/ a truck to pick up at 10:15 am on 2/21 and they were told to wait, chair needed to be assembled... The chair was then delivered with great care (wrapped in moving blankets by very competent careful movers I personally know) and we put in place. First we saw chair had not been tested as the electrical had not been collected - I had to unbox this stuff - and no instructions were with chair. I called Roe and explained to Michelle the chair a. not preassembled as agreed b. not tested obviously as it was not attached to electrical unit and c. how to put together then. She was quite unpleasant, backed off any responsibility on any of this and gave me the directions to attach the electrical (one extension cord did not fit .... so we cannot use both lengths of connection), but we got it connected and were delighted Until my wife noticed that the left arm was higher - by 3/4" - to the right arm as measured from the floor to top of arm. and the button that controls the angle of the top of the chair did nothing at all. I called Roe and they said this was ridiculous, used awful raised voices, said what I report was impossible, that the chair was fine and was when picked up. I said, how would you know if you did not test it? He refused to answer that but said they have no responsibility, that warranty requires we bring chair to them. Dan said it was damaged by our movers and our problem... nothing to do with them. Roe never helped resolve the problems. So I turned to Fjorde - the maker of the chair - and they were great. We discovered that a main mechanism to move top angle of chair was broken - and never really figured out why one arm 1inch higher than the other. Fjorde offered to replace the chair. ALL I CAN SAY IS AVOID ROE & Company in Petaluma. They are literally the very worst store I have ever had the displeasure to do business with. They are just the epitome of an ugly, self-absorbed, dumb, lazy, disorganized firm.
