I have to write a few words about this emergency vets as they are lovely people who genuinely care about the aminals they see. Is it expensive? Yes, but they have an entire surgical staff available out of normal working hours, overnight and bank holidays.....having done my fair share of working these hours, I do not begrudge anyone getting paid extra for these hours. Our rescue greyhound took very ill on Boxing Day, and was screeching with pain if he tried to move. We made a call to them first and after explaining about his pain, were told that we could try and get some pain relief into him to allow us to get him in the car. We did this, and gave him overnight to settle and the following morning we took him to the vets. It was incredibly busy, but they took the time to ensure covid measures were kept in place, and a vet took a look at him as soon as one was available. He was in so much pain, they needed to sedate him in order to do an ultrasound, but had no available kennel free right then. My husband sat with him for about 45 mins when one large enough became free, and they gave him lots of cuddles as they took him to his kennel. We got a phone call a couple of hours later explaining what was wrong, and sadly there was nothing to be done. He had a ruptured tumour on his liver with almost no healthy liver left, so they made him comfortable and gave us time to go back there so that we could see him and sit with him giving us as much time as we needed to say goodbye. They gave us several days before calling to talk about settling the bill, which - having had dogs my whole life - was NOT extortionate for the out of hours emergency situation it could have been. Quite frankly, if you are going to worry over the cost of caring for a pet, get insurance or don't have a pet! I for one never want to be in a position where I have to think of the cost of treatment before deciding on the best course of action. I have had previous dogs also be treated here, and the treatment then was also excellent, even though it was quite a long time ago. I really don't feel like saying Yay or Whoo-hoo about Vets Now, but they are excellent. I was so worried about my cats downhill decline that I called Vets Now, described her symptoms and they were very helpful, but obviously couldn't give her a diagnosis over the phone. Ended up bringing her in that afternoon. The vet was wonderful, really good with her. She hates vets and instantly gets growly and weird. He seemed to really care about her and did everything he could to help her feel more comfortable. I really hope he was wrong with his suspected diagnosis, but we won't know more really until she has x-rays and biopsy. It was not a cheap visit - the consultation alone was over £100. However the attention she received was certainly worth it. Our last vet visit just a few weeks ago cost £50 for a vaccination and worm tablet and they completely failed to notice she had an advanced growth and brushed aside our worries that her coat wasn't looking as healthy as it was. read more

We were prepare to pay an extortionate fee for emergency out of hours pet care, but even so the quoted fee was hard to swallow. With little choice, and an aged pet in dire need of euthanasia, we took our pet to Vets Now for treatment. But it was the call the next day for payment of a much higher bill than quoted, bloated with hidden fee that we were not made aware of that seems to most disrespectful and shameful thing these cowboys did. read more

Absolutely infuriated! First two trips to trips to the vets Ruffus seen two amazing vets Rebecca & Becca. Took him to get his nails clipped an the male vet "Charles" took him straight away from me; minutes later all I could hear was Ruffus crying. With that he came out with Ruffus and told me Ruffus was too anxious / distressed. NOT SURPRISED when you take him straight away from me/his owner! He's a 7month old puppy! Ruffus has since been extremely nervous when going to the vets, not vicious, just shaky and timid. Anyway had to go to the appointment today for Ruffus's eye & for the vet we seen to say on his notes it says he's vicious and needs to be muzzled. I explained to this vet, he has never been muzzled before and is far from vicious, what does she think he's going to do? Lick her to death? She then continues to say, she's not happy to examine Ruffus's eye because she was bit by a dog of a similar breed and is now scared of them. Ruffus is 7 months old, he's a Staffie crossed with a collie! Ruffus went to give her paw and she ran a mile right back into the corner of the consultation room. So she said to me she'll give me a cream and if it's no better in 5 days they'll sedate him to examine his eye.Absolutely disgraceful! Some people need to change their profession!! If you don't like a select breed of dog, don't be a vet! This would be like a GP refusing to examine a person because of their genetics, it just wouldn't happen! My blood is boiling. I will never be taking my baby there again Feel sorry for the 2 vets (becca and Rebecca) that I seen previous who were phenomenal shame horrid 2 can change the whole outlook of the place! Vets Now - Brislington I had cause to use these vets yesterday as my own surgery was closed. I was advised on the phone that an out of hours consultation would be £141.81. Ok - a bit steep but I needed a vet to check over my dog so I went along. The service was ok but she just kept saying 'try this and if he's no better tomorrow, go see your own vet'. Great but what am I paying you for then?? Anyway, she give me 2 medications which when you look up online would normally cost £8 and £7. The first cost me £13.26 and the second £18.02. Ok - it's a vets, they charge more and its available there and then. But then they charge me £9.94 per item as a dispensing fee and then they add VAT to the whole price so I ended up paying £33.55 and £27.84. This place is a rip-off and I would only recommend using in an absolute emergency when you cannot get into any other emergency vet. I would recommend sourcing an emergency vet in advance so you have their details ready - that is my task for today! read more
