One hopes they never need to visit an Emergency Vet, but if you have to, I highly recommend VEG or Vetrinary emergency group. The staff were friendly and super empathetic. They fully explained the process for evaluating our Frenchie Lady. One thing that set them above is not separating us. Our Lady doesn't do well away from us and they made sure she was comfortable and safe. Dr. Malik Chennault and staff were thorough compassionate and exactly what we needed today. It's likely a long rode ahead for us, but we are so grateful to receive care and bring lady home a little more comfortable and with a diagnosis. Thank you VEG groups and staff keep providing amazing emergency care! David & David Moose and Lady. Also, considering the work up required I found the pricing reasonable.

I wouldn't give this place even 1 star if I didn't have to in order to continue with my review. I am 75 years old, in those 75 years I have had the pleasure of owning MANY dogs. Never have I experienced a day like this one with any of my animals. My mobile groomer that I have used for over 10 years was that my rental condo ( our house. In Pacific Palisades had burned down, so I wasn't near my usual veterinarian) She was trimming the hair around the mouth of my 14 pound Yorkie Shih Tzu mix, and nipped the inside of her mouth. It was a small cut, but as cuts in the mouth will do it was bleeding a lot. I had remembered saying different veterinarians on Wilshire Boulevard near our rental condo so I asked our groomer to drive me up Wilshire Boulevard in Santa Monica California. On the corner, I saw a large red building with the letters VEG EMERGENCY HOSPITAL. By that time, Lily's mouth had stopped bleeding, as we went in the building she got scared. Her heart started beating, and her mouth began to bleed again. The receptionist showed us to the back to a room of the enormous space it occupies. A woman came in, who was not a veterinarian and asked me if I wanted bloodwork. I didn't realize that was something that would be needed for a cut in the mouth was not sure why she was suggesting it, but I assumed it was something that was needed so I said OK we were kept in that room without seeing the doctor we eventually saw for almost 5 hours. I was sick with a cold and could hardly sit up holding Lily. My groomer and I took turns holding her after being kept in that room for all of that time. We were finally taken out to the middle of the room where there was a metal table where a woman put Lily on it. She panicked, her heart beating so hard made her mouth start bleeding again. A doctor came over, began to give her oxygen or something, and then changed his mind. Look to see if it needed stitches and saw it did not. We went up to the desk, I handed her my credit card and we left. Later to see that I had been charged the exorbitant amount of $939.21. She was prescribed three prescriptions. The total over $200 that she never even needed. I called the vet several times asking to speak to the manager, Lauren Linville, but she was always either in a meeting not there or busy. It took me weeks to finally see her, I had to go in there and sit and wait for 45 minutes while she was " in a meeting" once again. I explained the situation to her. I even brought the prescriptions back to return to get a refund ( which I did not get ) and show her Lily never even needed any medication. They should have seen what the injury was kept an eye on her while we were there with her and we should've been out of there in 45 minutes tops and the charge should've been $230 for the Emergency visit. She said she would get back to me in four days, as she was going out of town. I spoke with her this morning. She said she had gone over the bill and was not going to deduct any charges. I'm planning on reporting this business to the Better Business Bureau. I would avoid this place like the plague. Lilly was so terrified from the experience that she hid under the bed for three days only to come out to eat a little and relieve herself. I just spoke to Laura Linville. She said she had gone over videos and the bill and was not going to deduct one cent. This is outrageous.

I'm still a happy dog even when I'm injured!

Our 2-year-old Lab started limping after a rough playdate, and our vet recommended VEG for immediate care. Even though the ER was packed, we were seen within 30 minutes -- a huge relief. Dr. Centola was kind and gentle with our dog. Based on his physical exam of the hip and leg, he suspected a possible CCL tear. He provided pain relief, explained the options clearly, and referred us to an orthopedic surgeon if needed. He took the time to answer all my questions and lay out a treatment plan. If you have a large dog dealing with an injury, I highly recommend seeing Dr. Centola and his team. They truly care and take the time to explain everything.

I'm grateful VEG operates 24/7--it's reassuring to know help is available for pets at any hour. Parking was free and convenient, and the hospital is in a nice area. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. However, I'm unsure about the quality of care. Our dog was scratching excessively, and I suggested it might be an allergic reaction. The initial visit cost $225, and they recommended shaving the area ($136) and giving an injection to stop the itching ($230). I questioned the injection because I didn't want to just mask symptoms. Shortly after we declined, our dog developed bumps and hives, confirming an allergic reaction, which was then treated appropriately. While I appreciate the availability and kindness, I wish the diagnosis had been clearer from the start and that treatment options were explained more thoroughly. Only after I asked questions about the services recommended, we found out what each of the treatments were and most of them were not needed at all, not in the diagnosis stage or on the treatment after.

I only have good things to say about my visit here. I came in after my dog broke a mirror and ended up with some scary lacerations on his back and legs. The doctor who helped my boy was Dr. Chavez and the team she had with her that night did a real good job at making us feel like things were gonna be alright in an otherwise stressful situation. The facility was spotless and everything looked well organized. Every employee there was kind and welcoming. Vet trips are always expensive and the zip code definitely had me thinking twice about what the bill was gonna end up looking like but compared to quotes I was getting from other places in West LA, this was the most "affordable" option. I would give 6 outta 5 stars if I could.

I want to thank the amazing people at veg for turning one of the most stressful experiences into something comforting and reassuring. From the moment I walked in, I could feel the difference. The facility itself is stunning--bright, clean, and designed with an open floor plan that immediately puts you at ease. There's no sense of being shut off or left in the dark; instead, you're part of the process every step of the way. You can actually see what's happening, which builds so much trust right off the bat. What really blew me away was the team. The doctors and staff are incredibly kind, compassionate, and truly passionate about what they do. They took the time to explain every single step--what they were going to do, why they were doing it, and what I could expect next. And the best part? They do it all right in front of you. There's no whisking your pet away behind closed doors or leaving you wondering what's going on. It's transparent, honest, and so calming. I've never been to a vet before where I actually left feeling better than when I walked in. Usually, these visits are filled with anxiety and uncertainty, but not here. The staff made me feel like everything was going to be okay, and that kind of peace of mind is priceless when your pet is in distress. If you're ever in need of emergency vet services--or honestly, any veterinary care--look no further than veg. I can't thank them enough for the care they gave to both me and my pet. This is the kind of place that makes all the difference.

Yessi one of the vet techs even came out and basically yelled at me in front of people in the lobby. Again, they have my service dog in the back who's stressing and not working and I'm stressing and probably need her to work because I was actually in medical emergency. I ended up going to the emergency room myself that night for the day I had.. I digress.. eventually the manager came out with my dog and apologized for not bringing her out sooner since she is a working dog but the damage was done. I am very grateful for the vet at mash and i am torn that it ended in Chaos.. Getting my dogs test results emailed to me was also hell, I was told they will only give it to another vet.. very very odd behavior. My dog, my money for the test and I had to basically pry it from them.. I don't understand what happened after I wanted my dog back that made them make everything a mess but..still.. If you're here trying to figure out if you should bring your pet here, yes. I recommend them. They will be honest and save your pet.. at a high price.. Maybe that whole day wasn't my day. Maybe that's the price I paid to get honest answers and to be told my dogs not gonna die. Either way, the vet was honest and that is more than we can ask for these days when it comes to vet care. And I was happy.. as I'd taken my dog there for a few emergencies and while I cant say that the customer experience was outstanding given the nature of any er visit that involves wait time, case being disregarded or downplayed, and sticker shock - the front desk had been quite accomodating. Then they hired more of these gen-zers at the front desk who just dont give an eff.. for example I was waiting 2 hrs to get an update. Just and update. Like what is going on with my dog. I followed up after 30 minutes, she went to check came back to me in 20 and said someone is gonna come update you soon. I waited another 20 minutes, asked again -- same exact answer from the same exact lady and in 10 or 15 more minutes I stormed towards the area where they keep the dogs and that same madame goes you cant go in there. i exploded on her and demanded they get me my my dog right now. turned out they heavily sedated him without my consent to give him the medicine. he could not walk and looked sleepy for hours. I understand that my dog can be difficult but.. a. consent. b. tell me what's going on! i could have just went home and came back when he was ready if the lady did her job instead of gossiping and laughing with her coworkers. I can understand and forgive many circumstances but this isnt the way to keep the repeat business. our insurance carrier paid about 15k for a few visits. I also saw a poor old lady who was charged 5k to diagnose her dying cat and I had to translate for her. No matter how much I tried to help they wouldnt budge. She couldnt believe that. That was her 2 social security checks. She weeped, she cursed them and threw the credit card at. This kind of treatment deserves the hottest chamber in hell, and I genuinely hope they shut down in the most humiliating way.

Since my last review (where our dog Peanut had a near-fatal overdose of dark chocolate and was saved by Dr. Salpi and team)... we've had a few more unfortunate emergency run-ins with our precious pit bull. First, our doggy was attacked in our own home and while she did her best to put up a fight and protect me... she was left very badly wounded. The hospital was nearly closing and Dr. Salpi immediately washed her wounds and gave the clearance for an emergency surgery next AM with Dr. Dhillon (who very kindly squeezed us in during his hectic work day). Turns out washing the wounds immediately just as Dr. Salpi did helped prevent very serious infections! The surgery was a great success and this staff treated Peanut like their very own. They gave her so much love, care, lots of hugs and kisses and frequently updated me on her recovery. We wanted to wait a few months until Peanut healed to spay her (as my husband and I had heard about pyometra risk)... low and behold the same month we had planned her spay surgery, Peanut had life-threatening pyometra. We could tell she was off and brought her in as soon as possible... Dr. Dhillon once again went above and beyond in her surgery. He even stayed extra to make sure we could squeeze her in before it was too late (and before she went into sepsis). So Peanut got prophylactic antibiotics before her surgery. This was something she tolerated well in the past but apparently the second exposure could have a reaction (which Peanut did). I am told she had very severe anaphylactic shock to the antibiotic, had a seizure and the staff feared her life. All the staff there that day teamed together in "code" fashion to give her supportive care and bring her back to. They monitored her very closely and ensured she was a-okay updating me thoroughly after this incident. It felt so good to know my previous angel was in the absolute best hands. Not only is this team highly professional and caring, I am certain they deeply care for each and every one of our babies like their own. I am so glad and thankful I found this place because it saved my Peanut's life not once... not twice... but three times now in very unfortunate freak accidents. Peanut must've been a cat in another life because so far she's had 9 lives thanks to McGrath Vet center and this team. And I promise we have a watchful eye on her, she's just got a lot of bad luck this year :( she is now thriving (prep fairy costume) we love you Peanut! We have been to LBAE a number of times for our Golden Retriever Byron…read more The latest incident required surgery for an obstruction. As always, Byron received great care and has recovered. Dr Ravi did the surgery and we appreciated the follow-up. Dr Lee and Dr Kerr also provided great support. Because Byron has IBD his symptoms could have been dismissed as part of his condition. We were lucky that when Dr Lee suggested an xray, we took her advice. Everyone at Long Beach Animal Emergency was amazing.

The female working the…read morefront was such a terrible human, she was upset and rude because she had to stay extra she was so frustrated and was taking it out on people. When signing the documents for ashes I specified 5 times that I wanted my cats ashes back, she was so upset she wasn't paying attention and charged me about 400 and I told her I want my cats ashes back you are billing me incorrectly and so she corrected the mistake. Fast forward weeks I never received my cat back, I called the clinic and they kept avoiding me I requested a call back from the manager. So he called me back and before I got a chance to greet him he was attacking me saying that I better be professional and stay calm, he was so unbelievably aggressive it's disgusting. Then he told me I would be getting a refund of 50 dollars because I was billed incorrectly. . .i said you didn't bill me incorrectly you billed me for my cats ashes that I requested to receive and he started getting upset saying no that it was only a billing issue. I never got my cat back and he was only a baby. To know that he was burn and his ashes mixed with all the other unclaimed pets pains every day. I sincerely wish the absolute worst to the manager and every terrible person at that place. Please listen to all the bad reviews!!!

My dog was showing symptoms of melena (back tar-like stool, diahrea, persistent vomiting every 3…read morehrs, low energy). Visited Glendora Emergency initially out of concern of the low Yelp rating for Access. Glendora did the bloodwork and X-rays, and prescribed metronidazole. The first 5 days on the med suggests she's getting better. However, the symptoms returned a week later and she stopped eating for 3 days. We then visited Access. Same initial process (bloodwork, X-ray). Finding nothing, and to pursue the root cause, ultrasound is suggested as it's the next step in the process. Like many I was hesitant at first. Symptoms continued so I brought her back the next day for IV treatment and ultrasound. Early evening I contacted Access and was expecting another diagnostic recommendation. But to my suprise they identified the root cause, acute pancreatitis. I was so relieved and grateful for their efforts. I thought the metronidazole caused my pet to stop eating, but the Dr took a bigger picture approach and was able to ID the root cause. Appetite enhancer, pain med, and probiotics were prescribed. And in both visits, refunds were issued for some of the estimates which was already paid. This demonstrates some level of honesty and integrity. Within a week, the symptoms began to subside. The stool went from black to brown, watery to soft and now solid. No more vomits or pain. The experience improved my perspective and opinion on vets. Yes, you may find out what the issue is through googling, but they still have a process to follow to identify and confirm the issue. In the end, it's all worth it.

The doctor was very compassionate in giving us choices but very carefully and lovingly said it was a hard decision but most likely time. When she kept having them, I instinctively knew it was going to be time to help her cross the rainbow bridge. As many rescues that we've had and have helped to cross the bridge, I can honestly say it never gets easier. It never hurts less to make that decision, but it helps when the staff is so compassionate. I love you Bon Bon, and I'm going to miss you. Thank you to everyone at Access Pasadena for your compassion during this difficult time.
