    Waking up
    Lauren H.

what went well? EVERYTHING. My baby cracked his tooth last night and although VEG doesn't have dental equipment (they should) my dog's tooth was hanging by a thread. They were quick with coming up with a plan and removing the tooth, putting him to sleep, and walking him back up (took about 20 minutes altogether) I was so informed, impressed and grateful how quick this team was especially Grace J. The RVT. Although they weren't able to take the entire root out we were glad they were able to get the most uncomfortable part out and we took him to his vet to handle the rest. I love the open concept of VEG, I was able to be apart of everything and I'm so so thankful.

    Core values of this business

One hopes they never need to visit an Emergency Vet, but if you have to, I highly recommend VEG or Vetrinary emergency group. The staff were friendly and super empathetic. They fully explained the process for evaluating our Frenchie Lady. One thing that set them above is not separating us. Our Lady doesn't do well away from us and they made sure she was comfortable and safe. Dr. Malik Chennault and staff were thorough compassionate and exactly what we needed today. It's likely a long rode ahead for us, but we are so grateful to receive care and bring lady home a little more comfortable and with a diagnosis. Thank you VEG groups and staff keep providing amazing emergency care! David & David Moose and Lady. Also, considering the work up required I found the pricing reasonable.

The triage ER that was so busy but there were only a handful of animals and at least 20 Dr's with their Starbucks. Waste of time

Waited 4 hours! Clearly you can see it was a huge waste of time. Very unprofessional and unorganized. Especially the young Dr Brooke Migdal. Looked like a dear in headlights trying to be busy.

I'm still a happy dog even when I'm injured!

Our 2-year-old Lab started limping after a rough playdate, and our vet recommended VEG for immediate care. Even though the ER was packed, we were seen within 30 minutes -- a huge relief. Dr. Centola was kind and gentle with our dog. Based on his physical exam of the hip and leg, he suspected a possible CCL tear. He provided pain relief, explained the options clearly, and referred us to an orthopedic surgeon if needed. He took the time to answer all my questions and lay out a treatment plan. If you have a large dog dealing with an injury, I highly recommend seeing Dr. Centola and his team. They truly care and take the time to explain everything.

I'm grateful VEG operates 24/7--it's reassuring to know help is available for pets at any hour. Parking was free and convenient, and the hospital is in a nice area. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. However, I'm unsure about the quality of care. Our dog was scratching excessively, and I suggested it might be an allergic reaction. The initial visit cost $225, and they recommended shaving the area ($136) and giving an injection to stop the itching ($230). I questioned the injection because I didn't want to just mask symptoms. Shortly after we declined, our dog developed bumps and hives, confirming an allergic reaction, which was then treated appropriately. While I appreciate the availability and kindness, I wish the diagnosis had been clearer from the start and that treatment options were explained more thoroughly. Only after I asked questions about the services recommended, we found out what each of the treatments were and most of them were not needed at all, not in the diagnosis stage or on the treatment after.

I want to thank the amazing people at veg for turning one of the most stressful experiences into something comforting and reassuring. From the moment I walked in, I could feel the difference. The facility itself is stunning--bright, clean, and designed with an open floor plan that immediately puts you at ease. There's no sense of being shut off or left in the dark; instead, you're part of the process every step of the way. You can actually see what's happening, which builds so much trust right off the bat. What really blew me away was the team. The doctors and staff are incredibly kind, compassionate, and truly passionate about what they do. They took the time to explain every single step--what they were going to do, why they were doing it, and what I could expect next. And the best part? They do it all right in front of you. There's no whisking your pet away behind closed doors or leaving you wondering what's going on. It's transparent, honest, and so calming. I've never been to a vet before where I actually left feeling better than when I walked in. Usually, these visits are filled with anxiety and uncertainty, but not here. The staff made me feel like everything was going to be okay, and that kind of peace of mind is priceless when your pet is in distress. If you're ever in need of emergency vet services--or honestly, any veterinary care--look no further than veg. I can't thank them enough for the care they gave to both me and my pet. This is the kind of place that makes all the difference.

I wouldn't give this place even 1 star if I didn't have to in order to continue with my review. I am 75 years old, in those 75 years I have had the pleasure of owning MANY dogs. Never have I experienced a day like this one with any of my animals. My mobile groomer that I have used for over 10 years was that my rental condo ( our house. In Pacific Palisades had burned down, so I wasn't near my usual veterinarian) She was trimming the hair around the mouth of my 14 pound Yorkie Shih Tzu mix, and nipped the inside of her mouth. It was a small cut, but as cuts in the mouth will do it was bleeding a lot. I had remembered saying different veterinarians on Wilshire Boulevard near our rental condo so I asked our groomer to drive me up Wilshire Boulevard in Santa Monica California. On the corner, I saw a large red building with the letters VEG EMERGENCY HOSPITAL. By that time, Lily's mouth had stopped bleeding, as we went in the building she got scared. Her heart started beating, and her mouth began to bleed again. The receptionist showed us to the back to a room of the enormous space it occupies. A woman came in, who was not a veterinarian and asked me if I wanted bloodwork. I didn't realize that was something that would be needed for a cut in the mouth was not sure why she was suggesting it, but I assumed it was something that was needed so I said OK we were kept in that room without seeing the doctor we eventually saw for almost 5 hours. I was sick with a cold and could hardly sit up holding Lily. My groomer and I took turns holding her after being kept in that room for all of that time. We were finally taken out to the middle of the room where there was a metal table where a woman put Lily on it. She panicked, her heart beating so hard made her mouth start bleeding again. A doctor came over, began to give her oxygen or something, and then changed his mind. Look to see if it needed stitches and saw it did not. We went up to the desk, I handed her my credit card and we left. Later to see that I had been charged the exorbitant amount of $939.21. She was prescribed three prescriptions. The total over $200 that she never even needed. I called the vet several times asking to speak to the manager, Lauren Linville, but she was always either in a meeting not there or busy. It took me weeks to finally see her, I had to go in there and sit and wait for 45 minutes while she was " in a meeting" once again. I explained the situation to her. I even brought the prescriptions back to return to get a refund ( which I did not get ) and show her Lily never even needed any medication. They should have seen what the injury was kept an eye on her while we were there with her and we should've been out of there in 45 minutes tops and the charge should've been $230 for the Emergency visit. She said she would get back to me in four days, as she was going out of town. I spoke with her this morning. She said she had gone over the bill and was not going to deduct any charges. I'm planning on reporting this business to the Better Business Bureau. I would avoid this place like the plague. Lilly was so terrified from the experience that she hid under the bed for three days only to come out to eat a little and relieve herself. I just spoke to Laura Linville. She said she had gone over videos and the bill and was not going to deduct one cent. This is outrageous.

When I got there, vet techs were waiting for me. Some of them took her back, and one took my story on what happened, and her symptoms. I had to call Pet Poison Line so they could tell the vets how to treat her-that's fine-and they wanted to do a full workup on her since she is 12. I said that's fine, that's what insurance is for. It was about 11pm when I was sent home to rest while they took care of her. At about two, they called me to tell me that she survived the nightshade poisoning, but they had found a thicker spot in her intestines in the x-ray, and they wanted to do follow-up images in the morning, so I got another estimate for them to keep her til the next day and run another round of x-rays and do an ultrasound. She stayed and I went back to sleep. In the morning, a very kind vet whose name I don't remember called me and went over what is happening and why that spot could be there. She gave me advice on how to proceed after today. She asked what food my cat eats so they could give it to her there too. I was kept in the loop the whole time from when I got there to when I picked her up at 4:30pm. It set me back about $3500. Thank God for pet insurance. But considering all they did and the overnight stay, not terrible. My cat's idiocy may have saved her bacon if we caught something early, but so did True Care's thoroughness.

What should have been a straightforward emergency visit turned into a traumatic 8-hour nightmare because of their staff's negligence, terrible attitude, and shocking lack of empathy. While my pug was hospitalized under their direct care, he somehow managed to chew and swallow part of the facility's own equipment. Because the staff failed to properly monitor him, my dog had to endure additional forced vomitin (2 extra times), x-rays, general anesthesia, and an upper GI endoscopy. Putting a small breed through general anesthesia and multiple invasive procedures in pne night takes a massive physical toll, and seeing him go through all of that for an issue they caused was completely heartbreaking and entirely preventable. Sitting in that waiting room for 8 hours overnight was agonizing. Zero Check-Ins & Neglected Updates: I was left sitting in the waiting room for hours on end without a single staff member proactively checking on me or giving me an update. Every single piece of information I received required me to walk up to the front desk and ask for it myself. Distress and Callousness: I sat there for hours hearing my dog whimpering in the back. At the exact same time, I had to listen to the staff laughing, joking, and chatting right nearby. I know people talk and laugh at work, but hearing the staff carry on while my dog was crying in pain after they let him eat hospital equipment felt incredibly cold and insensitive. Attitude & Eye-Rolling Over Documentation requests: When I asked for existing paperwork documenting the equipment incident (simply to ensure I had records in case he needed follow-up treatment late) the RVT gave me a ridiculous amount of attitude, eye-rolling, and unnecessary back-and-forth. To make matters worse, she claimed the doctor was "actually doing me a favor" by waiving the fees for the endoscopy and extra procedures to incude vommiting. Fixing a mistake caused by your own oversight isn't a favor, it's basic accountability. Zero Follow-Through: After promising that the practice manager, "Jennifer," would reach out to address the situation, missing records, and potential future care, I received nothing. No email, no phone call. Complete radio silence. The one single bright spot was the attending veterinarian, Dr. Taniguchi. He truly did his best, treated my dog with care, and tried to make things right by waiving the fees for the incident and escalating it to leadership. I can genuinely see that he cared, and I appreciate him for that. Unfortunately, one good doctor can't make up for a disrespectful staff, negligent supervision, and management that hides behind ghosting a pet owner. Please think twice before leaving your pets here when they are at their most vulnerable.

We cannot say enough wonderful things about ACCESS in Pasadena. Through some incredibly difficult and emotional situations, the team at ACCESS has consistently treated our animals -- and us -- with compassion, kindness, professionalism, and genuine care. Rebecca, Natalie, Vanessa, and so many others have gone above and beyond for us. The communication from the entire team has always been excellent. They make sure we understand what is happening, help us get the records and information we need, answer questions thoughtfully, and are consistently responsive and helpful. Those things matter so much when you are scared, overwhelmed, or trying to make decisions for an animal you love. Every time we have needed emergency or specialty care, we have felt like our dogs were in capable, thoughtful hands. It is such a gift to have a veterinary team that not only clearly loves animals, but is also smart, thorough, communicative, and exceptionally good at what they do. Dr. Cole was Moo's cardiologist, and we were incredibly grateful for the care she received. Dr. Naman also performed surgery on Artie's leg several years ago, and because of that surgery he was able to run freely and enjoy his life again. We will always be thankful for that. Losing Artie and Moo has been heartbreaking, but when I think about the care they received at ACCESS throughout their lives, I feel an enormous amount of gratitude. They were treated with dignity and compassion, and we always felt that the people caring for them genuinely wanted the very best for them. Our experiences with ACCESS have been consistently excellent -- from cardiology and surgery to emergency visits, communication, follow-up, and helping us with records afterward. They are thoughtful, organized, kind, and willing to go the extra mile. We feel incredibly lucky that we found ACCESS, and I really wanted to give their team the shoutout they deserve. Whenever one of our animals needs care in the future, ACCESS will continue to be one of the first places we trust. They are simply the best in veterinary care, hands down. We are so grateful to everyone there who has cared for our little family over the years. THANK YOU everyone at Access for always taking such good care of us and our fur babies

We arrived early, so early in fact that the Cardiology Department was not yet open…read more We waited in the car and since their parking lot was open and large it wasn't an issue. It was our first time within the ACCESS network so we did not know that the Cardiology Department was separate from Internal Medicine and the Emergency Department. We didn't know that there were so many varying departments. It didn't set in that this was a specialty clinic not a traditional veterinarian office (even though "specialty animal hospital" is literally in their name...haha). The Cardiology Department was on the second floor in a building shared with other companies. The office was clean and peaceful. The women at the front desk were kind and patient. They answered our questions and were helpful. We were seen quickly in the consultation room and I love that the nurse drew a cute little picture with cat ears and whiskers, and put our cat's name on the white dry erase board that was outside of the consultation room. She listened intently to our concerns as it had already been confirmed that the referring veterinarian had provided our cat's health records. We fully expected to wait a while for the doctor since we were about forty minutes early but about five minutes later Dr. Cole greeted us warmly with a team of onlookers (supporting doctors, maybe interns too not exactly sure). Dr. Cole was patient and explained the process for examining our cat's heart health. He answered our questions and took our fur baby for the testing. Around twenty minutes later he and his team returned with the results. He explained the prescription medicine that would be beneficial for our cat and gave further medical advice for our cat. I really appreciated the transparency and clarity around the results. I felt relieved to have such a warm, competent and friendly doctor handling the care for our fur baby. It wasn't cheap but it was worth it. Grateful to Dr. Steven Cole and ACCESS Pasadena!

The front desk was incredibly welcoming & it was an easy check in. We were put in a room within 10 minutes & the vet tech came in for the initial eval. She was thorough, careful of my sensitive not & listened carefully to our concerns. She let us know the vet would be in momentarily and not even 5 minutes later he came in. He listened to all of my concerns and explained how dogs experience shock with their GI tract so it was good I brought him in once he started vomitting. He recommended labs, x-rays, an anti nausea medication and steroids. I opted for the medications but not labs or X-rays. There was NO pressure at all to include them, but rather just an option given. My boy got his injection & we were out of there in probably 45 minutes tops. Our discharge instructions included his at home Benadryl dosage and schedule, as well as an explanation of severe allergic reactions in dogs. We will definitely be back for our urgent care needs!

We took our cat, Anna, to see Dr. Colwill yesterday, and our experience was thoroughly positive!…read more Anna was constipated (for 5 days), and Dr. Colwill took an x-ray of her bowel and then recommended an enema and a subcutaneous fluid injection. We took Anna home, and within two hours she was regular again. Dr. Colwill was a very good listener, a great diagnostician, and he couldn't have been nicer as a person. His staff was equally professional and kind. We feel very lucky to know that Dr. Colwill is available should we ever need emergency care in the future. Five stars for LBAUC, for sure!
