My Goldendoodle ate a lot of sand at the beach, and bringing her in early that morning turned out to be absolutely the right decision. The doctors were caring, knowledgeable, empathetic, and incredibly helpful throughout the entire process. Every staff member went above and beyond to make me feel confident that Peach was in good hands and would be well cared for during her hospitalization. The whole experience was as positive as it could possibly be during such a stressful situation. They did everything they could to help me stay calm while making sure Peach received the best care and recovered well. I'm truly grateful for their compassion and dedication. The X-rays and all the exams were so fast within minutes we are able to get results!! I highly recommend this VCA!!

Amazing efficiency, kind and loving staff and knowledgeable and friendly Surgeon, Dr. Belfour. I just took my 8 year old Lab Finn in today for a surgical consult. We suspected a CCL tear and Dr. Balfour was able to confirm. I have his surgery scheduled, but really felt comfortable with the path forward and decision after speaking with Dr. Balfour. He took time to explain all my options and scenarios and the road ahead. Every single staff member I interacted with was caring, kind and clearly have love for animals. I left knowing we have a big bill ahead of us, but just felt so relieved to know my Fur Baby will be in good hands when the surgery date comes. Dr. Balfour's surgical assistant Shoshana was super responsive as well. The efficiency and manner in which we were provided care for today was top notch.

VCA ASEC saved my bulldog's life! Splash had an obstruction thanks to her habit of exploring the world through taste. She had abdominal surgery requiring multiple incisions in her digestive tract at another hospital, and it failed and ruptured internally on the third day of recovery, sadly not utterly unexpected. The contents of her stomach and intestines were leaking into her abdomen, making it septic. The other hospital discovered this whilst I was visiting, confessed the needed surgery was beyond their capability and sent me to VCA ASEC. I'm so glad they did! Only an hour and change later, board certified surgeon Dr. Sroufe arrived and completed what he later told me was a "pretty gnarly surgery", removing unviable tissue, resectioning her intestines, cleaning out the infectious goo from her abdomen to put poor Spash's digestive system back together. Splash had an extremely long recovery time in hospital, several weeks. Her poor insides had been through a lot and stomach motility had stopped. She regurgitated (something very familiar to bulldog owners), aspirated, and caught pneumonia. She was in and out of the oxygen cage and required a GI tube for feeding and aspiration of fluid build up in her very slow tummy, and for a while an abdominal drain. She was on IV meds for darn near everything. For a while, she was on IV fluids, but then had edema and needed treatment for that; another familiar thing to the breed. It was ages before she was out of the woods. Each and every step of the way, for days, the team was kind, compassionate and patient with both her and us. Doctors Tovar, Spurlock, Regalado, Ixtlahuac, Judge and Ong all at one point of another took care of Splash and communicated with us in person or over the phone. Tovar, Spurlock and Regalado made a point of calling us with updates once and often twice a day; they would even take time to keep Splash with them around the hospital, to ensure she was able to keep her emotional state up. Both my husband and myself were always made welcome on our daily visits to see Splash. Each visit, the doctor on shift would come and fill us in and answer all our questions. We always felt they cared about both us and Splash. If we called, someone would ALWAYS call back within an hour or two. The techs and nurses were also amazing. They were invested in doing the best they could for Splash and helping her survive and live. They even took time to pet her and comfort her. When she was able, they took her out of her kennel for play and walkies. Everyone she passed when I was there would greet her by name with a cheerful voice. The total care for her entire time there was expensive. That's around the clock board and care, medication, oxygen cage, food, IV placement and replacement when the vein blew (which is a fact of life; eventually, you need to move to another vein.) repeated scans throughout her stay such as x rays and ultrasounds and blood/fluid tests to see how her recovery was progressing, treatment for edema, and more. Critical hospital care for much of the month of July. This is not unusual or a rip off of any sort. We have no pet insurance, as bulldogs are expensive to insure, and that's what it cost. The finance department were very clear about charges, and gave us a high and low estimate, letting us know that anything not used would be refunded or used as credit for the next period we pre-paid for. They were patient as we did our best to gather funds from our savings, credit, and eventually a GoFundMe. They worked WITH us to ensure we could continue, as everyone could see she was fighting and not ready to die. Without them, I would have lost the sweetest dog in the world! Now she is home and nearly back to herself, playing, snoring like a bear and demanding treats and butt scratches.

I was referred to Dr. Somerville by my vet to do a high risk surgery on my kitty. In the words of my vet "I would trust Dr. Somerville with my life". That's all I needed to hear. I called a few times to schedule a consultation prior to the surgery and that was the only difficult part of the experience, finding time to schedule since the Dr. is only there a few days a week. But honestly what was an anxious and stressful experience was tempered by the professionalism and care of VCA ASEC. Everyone was friendly and compassionate and took the time to answer my questions. I got frequent updates, a treatment plan, and went home with my kitty (who was miserable because of the cone) but in good spirits. I appreciated the communication and care that they provided. It came with a hefty price tag but that is because you're paying for the quality and expertise. I want to thank everyone there for all the hard work they do and I'm so grateful to have been referred there.

Five stars for Dr. Sean Yoshimoto. Dr. Yoshimoto is not only kind and extremely knowledgeable, but he is also not a money-driven doctor. He truly cares about our pets and our feelings as pet parents. Even though my heart was completely broken after hearing that my beloved has a very aggressive cancer, I still want to sincerely thank Dr. Yoshimoto. Despite his very full schedule, he squeezed us in for a CT scan appointment, which meant so much to our family. After reviewing the CT scan, he knew that what was in my baby's nose was not something good. Instead of performing an unnecessary procedure, he made the honest decision not to proceed and even refunded us over $1,600. That speaks volumes about his integrity and character. He is truly a doctor with a great heart. We really wish there were more doctors like you in this world--it would absolutely make the world a much better place. We previously had very bad experiences at another emergency pet hospital, but VCA ASEC gave us a more-than-5-star experience. We also met Dr. E during our ER visit, and she was incredibly kind and knowledgeable as well. Thank you, doctors. CobyBean is so lucky to have met you in his life. We are beyond grateful. I truly hope my daughter can one day become a wonderful veterinarian like you all. Thank you

This was my first time here, and the staff and Dr.Brittany Shuster, DVM was amazing, she really cared about my dog wellbeing. I was really worried about my sweet dog Rex, but she assure that whatever it is we will figure it out. Thank you again to the team and Dr. Brittany, as you can see in the photo my baby is resting

Another great experience at ASEC! I brought in my dog Spike for an abdominal ultrasound with Dr. Laurel Krause. She was able to answer my questions and was able to give me the peace of mind I needed. Can't thank her enough.

I've taken the last 3+ months to reflect back on everything that happened to my dog who was being treated at VCA ASEC in the months leading up to her passing. I can't directly fault ASEC for any of the care that they provided (I think) but I also can't say that I know exactly know what happened in the areas where they take our pets after we meet with the doctor. My dog had Cushings Disease which is very common for her breed and she was being treated with the appropriate medication for a number of months. We went in for monthly lab work in April and when they brought her out from the back something was very, very wrong. I told them that while I was still there but I couldn't get any answers and they were basically like, we did what you came here for and time for you to go. I would mention that this VCA location is also an ER. Later that night, we took her to the ER down the block from ASEC (the big white ER bldg at 1900 S. Sepulvida) and they diagnosed a stroke. I have to say that the doctors at the ER (big white Bldg) were beyond lovely and helpful. They gave me a number to text them about any changes. They called me throughout the week that followed to discuss changes, developments and food. They really got us through that first week. The bill for 1 night at the ER was approx $11K. We had to give her 4-5, maybe 6, medications and one of them cost $1,800 and that was from Costco! Never heard a word from ASEC. Not a peep. While we were at the ER they requested all of her records from ASEC so there was some communication but, to what extent, I don't know. We spent the next few months nursing her back to health and being somewhat in denial about the bigger picture. I also had her examined at True Pet in the valley but we never got very far as we had another emergency about 3 months later. Btw, True Pet also requested records from ASEC. Late one Saturday night, we had no idea what was happening to our dog so we took her back to the ER (big white bldg). They said it might take days to diagnose her and that she might not survive that period. We knew we didn't want her to die alone in a metal crate so we did what we believed was the humane and unselfish thing to do even though it absolutely crushed us to have to do it. We're still recovering from her passing. I did an enormous amount of research and it is clear to me that she went into congestive heart failure. All of the symptoms were spot on from what I read. I never heard anything from ASEC except a call to make another appointment (for a dog who was no longer alive). I composed a brief email telling them that she had passed away and that I never heard anything from them. So here's the bottom line. I guess what we're all seeing is the corporatization of the veterinary business and I don't mean that in a nice way. I'm old enough to remember when you had a family vet who handled all of your pet's issues. There were no specialists. One guy/gal did it all. They called you. They stayed in touch. They helped you. They cared. My advice is to find a smaller vet office where there is more personal attention and where they actually communicate with each other in the office. You can use one of the larger 24/7 ER's as emergencies arise. I've refrained from using the names of any doctors as well as the name of my dog. The point of this review is not to assess blame. I want to caution other pet owners that they need to make conscious decision about what kind of care they want from their vet over the life of your furry loved one and to choose your vet carefully. We live in a rapidly changing world and much of it is not for the better. As for us, we are really missing our baby. She was a total lover. I live in a building filled with somewhat remote people yet one neighbor broke into tears when I told her what happened. Another one hugged me in the elevator. I couldn't believe it! Our girl loved everyone and everyone loved her. She went everywhere with us, traveled with us and lived a great life. In the end, I guess that's the best we could ask for. If you read this, give your fur babies a kiss for me tonight.

I think every pet parent can agree that the most important thing for our fluffy little ones is proper care and love from the professionals treating them. This is why I'm rating this place a 5 star. They were all terrific people and took wonderful care of my dog (and me!) during a high stress day. P.S. They also offer coffee and snacks and that was a lifesaver after being there for 3.5 hours.

They took me in rapidly and the Doctor was very kind and empathetic to my nervous cat. They diagnosed his issue quickly and let me know it wasn't a complete crisis so that helped calm me down. They did a blood and urine draw which went very smoothly given how nervous my cat was, and overall the doctor/nurses walked me through all the steps very honestly and openly with estimates provided at every step which was very appreciated. As a layman I cannot say how much of the tests they did were strictly necessary and what was nice to have, but doctor explained everything very thoroughly so I left feeling like it was pretty reasonable. The only reason I'm giving 4 instead of 5 stars is because although I arrived around 7 when it was pretty empty, by 8-9PM when my cat was getting his draws and test results, the place became a lot busier and the doctor couldn't attend to me as much, so I ended up not being able to leave until around midnight, including at least one period of over an hour where I was just waiting around. But I can't really blame them that much-- I was in a private room because my cat is skittish so I didn't see, but when I left I saw the place was a total zoo with lots of people, so I think they were just overwhelmed. Overall -- very good service. Bill was a bit high, but they gave me options and walked me through every step with estimates for my confirmation. Only downside was longer wait time as the night progressed.

They not only took care of my pet but they reached out to care for me-offering blankets (Clarissa!), tissues and coffee/water as well as comfort. Thank you to all of the unnamed team who helped send our old man home with a little more time. You are all amazing and I wish I had thought to get all of your names and thank each of you from the bottom of my heart!

When I got there, vet techs were waiting for me. Some of them took her back, and one took my story on what happened, and her symptoms. I had to call Pet Poison Line so they could tell the vets how to treat her-that's fine-and they wanted to do a full workup on her since she is 12. I said that's fine, that's what insurance is for. It was about 11pm when I was sent home to rest while they took care of her. At about two, they called me to tell me that she survived the nightshade poisoning, but they had found a thicker spot in her intestines in the x-ray, and they wanted to do follow-up images in the morning, so I got another estimate for them to keep her til the next day and run another round of x-rays and do an ultrasound. She stayed and I went back to sleep. In the morning, a very kind vet whose name I don't remember called me and went over what is happening and why that spot could be there. She gave me advice on how to proceed after today. She asked what food my cat eats so they could give it to her there too. I was kept in the loop the whole time from when I got there to when I picked her up at 4:30pm. It set me back about $3500. Thank God for pet insurance. But considering all they did and the overnight stay, not terrible. My cat's idiocy may have saved her bacon if we caught something early, but so did True Care's thoroughness.

They come out after every visit to tell me how much they love her, even though I know she's giving them attitude the whole time. They're patient with her and make sure she's comfortable no matter what. Special shout out to Dr. Uematsu and Dexter for the amazing care!! They keep me updated every step of the way, so I never feel like I'm in the dark about what's happening with my cat. They explain things in detail, but not SO much where I'm overwhelmed. They've really just been so amazing! One more huge plus: they work directly with Trupanion's insurance software, so I don't even have to file the claim myself. They submit it on their end, and mine was preapproved within five minutes. That kind of efficiency takes so much stress off an already stressful vet visit! It also lessens the deposit needed. Highly recommend MASH to anyone who wants a team that genuinely cares about their pet and makes the whole process easy!

I brought my dog here because I needed an emergency ultrasound after finding a large mass on his spleen earlier that morning. They were kind enough to fit us in for a last-minute ultrasound (for a $255 emergency appointment fee). The ultrasound confirmed that the mass had already ruptured. I asked if they could operate that same night. I was told it would cost at least another $4,000 to do it that night. Instead, they scheduled a pre-operative consultation for the following day (another $255), and surgery would have taken place the day after that even tho they knew my dog was already bleeding internally (they gave me anti hemorrhage herb supplements for $67) Right after he was discharged, he started urinating dark brown. I immediately came back to let them know. Their response was essentially, "We'll stick to the game plan. We'll see you tomorrow for the first consultation. Fortunately, my first vet choice, called me back early Monday morning and after I explained the situation. Their response was: "We need to operate immediately." They came to my house to pick up my dog at no charge, performed another ultrasound at no charge, and took him straight into surgery without asking for a single dollar upfront. The surgery was successful. Afterward, the surgeon told me that if we had waited one more day, my dog likely would not have survived. I'm not writing this to hurt this establishment. The staff was very friendly, as you would expect when you're paying nearly $1,000 for an emergency visit and ultrasound. I'm writing this to help anyone who may find themselves in the same situation. If your pet has a life-threatening emergency, trust your instincts and act fast. For me, choosing Sevilla Veterinary Hospital saved my dog's life.

She interrupted me rudely and said, "I'm not the one you spoke to," when all I was trying to do was get copies of my dog's records. I spent almost $1,700 here for my dog's pneumonia treatment, and unfortunately it did not help at all. They kept my dog for 5 hours, and after everything, I still had to bring her to a different hospital so she could get proper care. There was also a problem with my dog's prescription. They prescribed a medication that wasn't even available until Monday. I was honestly willing to let that pass because I understand things happen, but the rude attitude from the receptionist was too much. I understand vet hospitals can get busy, but clients who are worried about their pets deserve compassion, professionalism, and proper communication -- especially after spending that much money. Very disappointed with both the service and the overall experience.

What should have been a straightforward emergency visit turned into a traumatic 8-hour nightmare because of their staff's negligence, terrible attitude, and shocking lack of empathy. While my pug was hospitalized under their direct care, he somehow managed to chew and swallow part of the facility's own equipment. Because the staff failed to properly monitor him, my dog had to endure additional forced vomitin (2 extra times), x-rays, general anesthesia, and an upper GI endoscopy. Putting a small breed through general anesthesia and multiple invasive procedures in pne night takes a massive physical toll, and seeing him go through all of that for an issue they caused was completely heartbreaking and entirely preventable. Sitting in that waiting room for 8 hours overnight was agonizing. Zero Check-Ins & Neglected Updates: I was left sitting in the waiting room for hours on end without a single staff member proactively checking on me or giving me an update. Every single piece of information I received required me to walk up to the front desk and ask for it myself. Distress and Callousness: I sat there for hours hearing my dog whimpering in the back. At the exact same time, I had to listen to the staff laughing, joking, and chatting right nearby. I know people talk and laugh at work, but hearing the staff carry on while my dog was crying in pain after they let him eat hospital equipment felt incredibly cold and insensitive. Attitude & Eye-Rolling Over Documentation requests: When I asked for existing paperwork documenting the equipment incident (simply to ensure I had records in case he needed follow-up treatment late) the RVT gave me a ridiculous amount of attitude, eye-rolling, and unnecessary back-and-forth. To make matters worse, she claimed the doctor was "actually doing me a favor" by waiving the fees for the endoscopy and extra procedures to incude vommiting. Fixing a mistake caused by your own oversight isn't a favor, it's basic accountability. Zero Follow-Through: After promising that the practice manager, "Jennifer," would reach out to address the situation, missing records, and potential future care, I received nothing. No email, no phone call. Complete radio silence. The one single bright spot was the attending veterinarian, Dr. Taniguchi. He truly did his best, treated my dog with care, and tried to make things right by waiving the fees for the incident and escalating it to leadership. I can genuinely see that he cared, and I appreciate him for that. Unfortunately, one good doctor can't make up for a disrespectful staff, negligent supervision, and management that hides behind ghosting a pet owner. Please think twice before leaving your pets here when they are at their most vulnerable.

It was our first time within the ACCESS network so we did not know that the Cardiology Department was separate from Internal Medicine and the Emergency Department. We didn't know that there were so many varying departments. It didn't set in that this was a specialty clinic not a traditional veterinarian office (even though "specialty animal hospital" is literally in their name...haha). The Cardiology Department was on the second floor in a building shared with other companies. The office was clean and peaceful. The women at the front desk were kind and patient. They answered our questions and were helpful. We were seen quickly in the consultation room and I love that the nurse drew a cute little picture with cat ears and whiskers, and put our cat's name on the white dry erase board that was outside of the consultation room. She listened intently to our concerns as it had already been confirmed that the referring veterinarian had provided our cat's health records. We fully expected to wait a while for the doctor since we were about forty minutes early but about five minutes later Dr. Cole greeted us warmly with a team of onlookers (supporting doctors, maybe interns too not exactly sure). Dr. Cole was patient and explained the process for examining our cat's heart health. He answered our questions and took our fur baby for the testing. Around twenty minutes later he and his team returned with the results. He explained the prescription medicine that would be beneficial for our cat and gave further medical advice for our cat. I really appreciated the transparency and clarity around the results. I felt relieved to have such a warm, competent and friendly doctor handling the care for our fur baby. It wasn't cheap but it was worth it. Grateful to Dr. Steven Cole and ACCESS Pasadena!

When we came back, he was vomiting and having diarrhea for 2 days so I took him to my regular vet and she told me to take him to the ER immediately bc he was severely dehydrated. I arrived here asap to admit my dog and see what's wrong. For the total price of $6251.15, we had 2 overnight stays with a diagnosis of Gastroenteritis and urinary bladder stones with elevated kidney lab values. The drs made it sound like Chase was going to die if he didn't get surgery within the next few seconds. She made it sound extremely urgent. Mind you, he never had any issues peeing prior to this so it was big news to me. She said he has a partial urinary blockage due to the bladder stones in his urethra but he was still peeing. The drs recommendations were to keep him to monitor him overnight and push for urinary catheter and surgery. I didn't agree to urinary catheter or surgery bc I didn't want to do anything invasive to him. They ended up doing the urinary catheter to try and push the stones back in however, they were unsuccessful and couldn't even put the catheter in bc they didn't have a needle small enough so it didn't fit thru his penile bone? So basically they tried and failed but I was still charged for it. Then they continued to push for surgery. Meanwhile all they did was give him anti-nausea meds and IV the whole time he was in there. I was all over the place like okay what should I do? He's my baby and I want the absolute best for him. I decided to finally just take him out the hospital and let him rest at home while finding another location for a second opinion. When I picked him up, poor baby peed like a racehorse for abt 2 mins straight. I have never in my life seen him pee this much and he is 6 years old! They must've kept him in there and not release him for potty breaks/walks the whole time. Vets and hospitals are expensive but this was unbelievable. A money hungry spot and way overpriced. I can't believe they charged 6k for nothing but meds to go home with. Never again.
