My 11 yr old Belgian had something wrong with her stomach like she hit herself while getting on the bed. I brought her in on a Friday 430 pm and by 6 pm she was heading home with 3 medications. Injections for pain and they took her in immediately. At my previous place this would have cost me easily 1500 it was reasonable for the care and the medications and quick attention.

Freddie before he passed with no pain.

What can I say. Our cat Freddie got very sick the day before Mother's Day and we got recommended by a friend to come here. They were so nice and made us feel comfortable. Even though Freddie passed away they let us stay and be with him until the end. Today we got a beautiful card from them. Thank you for your kindness. Best place ever.

    Very clean, professional-looking waiting area.

Let's face it, if you end up here, your pet is having a medical emergency. We ended up there on a recent Sunday night, because our kitty Tigger was breathing shallowly and meowed in distress when picked up. This vet was recommended on our regular vet's voicemail, so that's where we went. They Tigger back immediately to stabilize her, and at that point they weren't sure whether she was in heart failure or pneumonia, although they were leaning toward heart failure. They saved Tigger's life, and no, it wasn't cheap. You get what you pay for: excellent veterinary work that involved lots of medications. And yes, she has heart disease, so we're following up with a cardiologist. Even if Tigger had died, I would still recommend this practice. They gave her the best shot she could have had.

Thanks to the staff and Dr Kerr, my cat lived!! We took my cat Louie here because of a blocked urethra. It was definitely an urgent procedure otherwise he was gonna die. I was bawling when we rushed in and this place was absolutely amazing. No sooner than I approached the receptionist, a tech was out of those doors whisking my boy away. Three emotional up and down days later (and we got hospital visits), my cat came home. Yes, it was hella expensive!! However, they do have Scratch Pay and Care Credit options for financial help. Thanks again guys!! I'll be forever grateful for what you did for our Louie -- you didn't just treat a pet, you saved a member of our family!!

We were charge upfront before they could do anything to my dog

Do not recommend at all staff is unfriendly and dealt with no empathy for their customers, since we enter I didn't feel comfortable and wanted to leave but I knew my dog need it help ASAP. We took our dog at 1am for an emergency and this was the only place open. Since we got there we told them that our dog was weak and that she could barely walk. The front desk lady, don't recall the name since I'm still in pain, didn't seem to understand that we had an emergency and that my dog need help ASAP. She started telling us how much the cost was gonna be which at that point I didn't care since I wanted attention to my dog. We waiting for someone to take out dog and when the first person came we explained what was wrong she right away said maybe is because she may be dehydrated. She took our dog in and we waited, again still in pain can't remember the time, when we were call to the room the nurse said that our dog had an ear infection an fever so they wanted to perform X-rays and blood work and that she may May have to be hospitalized. She asked us again what was wrong with our dog to get the information to the vet, at this point it was the third person we told the situation, she started given us quote of the charges and also ask us what was our budget in case our needed to be hospitalized, at this point I felt they were not going to help 100% our dog until they knew how much we can afford, I told her that we were going to start with the blood work and that we can discuss that later since I didn't feel like that was the emergency at that point but to help my dog, she exited the room and waiting a couple of min for the vet. The vet came and once again explained what happened she then again explained why they need it to take X-rays and blood work to start with and that she was going to take blood pressure since she definitely looked weak; she told us that test could take up to an hour for the results and that we could leave and they would give us a call back and if we decided to leave the front desk was going to get us situated. We talked to the front desk lady and she said that it was going to be $716.67, I asked why do I have to pay now and she said that they would not work on my pet until I pay, at this point is already 2:20am. we went home and at 3:32am I got the call, I was half of sleep and at I remember hearing, I'm sorry, after they explain what had happen I reacted and said "wait what happened? At that point I jump out of bed to wake up my family. They said that unfortunately Sally stopped breathing and that they couldn't bring her back, can't recall the rest and I ask what next she said that we can go see her and they hep us. We rush back, we love about 7min away, as we walk in now the receptionist feel we had an emergency, she direct us to a room to wait , right away the vet came and told us that they were not able to take the blood test because when they were going to do it that's when she stopped breathing, she also said that we could send her body to perform a necropsy but that sometimes customers not get an answer, my family didn't want to since we wanted her remains with us ASAP oh and she said that we were not going to get charge for the blood work since they couldn't perform it, when she said that I reacted mad and said well she, the secretary, charges us already, the vet looked surprised and said oh don't worry I would let her know so she can do a refund. The nurse brought our dog in and after taking a time with our beautiful Sally we asked questions on what was next since this was our first time dealing with this. She gave us options on what some people do and we took the option of cremation, she explained what is going to happened and what to expect and that from the payment already made earlier they will refund us some money since it was going to be cheaper. After we left and we were able to think clearly my questions for this place is: why did it take almost 1hour to actually get the blood from our dog? What is that the people working there can't identify an emergency? The name of the place is actually Long Beach Animal Emergency isn't it? Now I'm not sure what happened to my dog because is gone, if since the beginning you suspect of dehydration did you gave her an iv with fluids? We took her there at that time because we were having an emergency and didn't want to wait until the morning.

Back to being a healthy 10 yo rescue!

She had already gone to her doctor earlier that day and was treated, and we thought she might be ok for the night at home; however, once the pain meds wore off, she was definitely not feeling well. We took her to the Fountain Valley Emergency Pet Hospital, and she was treated wonderfully. I've had previous poor experiences with other emergency rooms, but this one was different. From the moment we walked in, she had her vitals taken quickly. We then waited (not long) for her to see a doctor, and the doctor came in to give us an idea of what needed to be done. We left her there for further testing, fluids, and pain control. We were contacted, and the results were reviewed over the phone (I was sent links for radiology and labs) to go over them with the doctor. The plan of care was thoroughly explained, and she felt better the next morning. I even received updates and a photo from that evening. We picked her up and were sent home with medical records and everything she needed to continue care with her regular primary vet. Everything was also sent directly to her regular primary care vet. Everyone was pleasant and truly seemed to care about the circumstances. Dr You was great with her and very good at going over the results. Honey was treated like family. She left in the morning and was on the road to recovery along with her primary vet, whom we took her to that day. Lo and behold, the following week, Honey was outside using the backyard restroom when a coyote attacked her. Our black lab rescued her, and I am so thankful nothing worse happened. Be careful, it's Coyote season! I knew when that happened she had a laceration to her face and it would need to be repaired, it was after hours so there we went back to Fountain Valley Emergency Pet Hospital. We were seen relatively quickly; they had a busy night, and the doctor was in surgery when we arrived. Honey was stable, so we waited until she could be seen. Dr. Hoogeveen saw Honey and she was great, she came to speak to us and explain what Honey would need and the best course of treatment for her. Honey had to undergo general anesthesia, which we were extremely concerned about, given her age and the fact that she was still recovering from a very rough bout of pancreatitis. Dr. Hoogeveen walked us through it, answered all of our questions, and provided direction for her care. Honey stayed the night again, once Dr. Hoogeveen was done with the surgery she contacted us to let us know how everything went. We were able to pick up Honey in the morning, and she looked well. Honey recovered well,l and they took good care of her. Honey is now recovering at home after a very stressful two week,s and I am grateful that we had a place to go to for her care when her regular Vet was closed. As far as cleanliness, it's very clean. The staff are all wonderful. They offer different payment options, such as CareCredit and Cherry. I don't know if they offer others, but we were able to qualify for Cherry, which was a considerable relief after an expensive two weeks! Honey is now recovering at home. The only wish I have is that they would be open a bit later during the weekdays. Not every regular vet is open early for transfer. Hopefully, in the future, that can be an option. I wouldn't hesitate to take your pet here if you need emergent care. I appreciate that they treated Honey like family. Hopefully, we won't be back anytime soon, but I still recommend them if you need to!

My husband and I were extremely worried and disappointed. Thankfully the machine was fixed around 3 PM, and our fur baby was still able to receive his first radiation treatment and go home around 4:30 PM. After that, Day 2 and Day 3 went smoothly, and everything went very well. What truly impressed us was Dr. Wakamatsu, herself. Her consultation was incredibly thorough and informative. She explained the CT scan in great detail and made sure we understood everything about our dog's condition and the treatment plan and the treatment options. We had also consulted another oncologist in Tustin, who said we would need to wait at least 72 hours before starting treatment after their CT scan. Dr. Wakamatsu was able to start immediately, which meant so much to us during such a stressful time. Our baby CobyBean is now in the post-radiation phase, and we are hoping for the best. Thank you Dr. Wakamatsu and the radiation team, it is very sweet about the certificate (a very sweet diploma) that they gave us on the last day of treatment. Unexpectedly a massive gastrointestinal GIST tumor was found on him that we had no idea about. Due to the very tricky location, we talked to several surgeons before meeting Dr Vinayak, all of those others who suggested a very risky procedure of Billroth 1 and/or Billroth 2. Those essentially would have fully removed the tumor, but in doing so would have very likely caused a lot of long term and chronic issues with nutrition, gastric system and overall health. It felt like we were picking between two very difficult, potentially fatal options- an aggressive Billroth procedure or doing nothing. No one else had any other possibilities for us. Then we met Dr. Vinayak. She walked us through her past experience and success with a partial resection of the tumor- removing enough to avoid risk of rupture or obstructing internal organs due to the size, but not going for full margins or complete removal. Given this was a less aggressive tumor and our dog was asymptomatic, this seemed like a much more feasible path. We decided to love forward with the procedure. The whole surgical oncology team was phenomenal to work with. Easy to get ahold of, and always answered all my questions. Dr. Vinayak explained everything very thoroughly, made it easy to understand, and we never felt rushed or pushed into a decision. Her associate Dr Hart was equally as helpful, communicative and so great to work with. The surgery was a great success- Dr Vinayak was successful in exactly what our goal was for this procedure and the outcome was great. After a few nights in the hospital we got to take our dog home, and though he will be on a journey with chemo, thanks to Dr Vinayak and her entire surgical oncology team, we're now looking at years with our dog- not months. The gift she had given us goes beyond words. But at the very least I can share this experience with anyone who has a dog in a difficult situation needing oncological surgery, I cannot reconned Dr Vinayak and her team highly enough.

He had been in a slow decline that suddenly turned rapid, and I knew we were at the end. What stood out most was the veterinarian's honesty. They checked his vitals, but we didn't pursue extensive diagnostics. Instead, he spoke candidly about what he was seeing--neurologically, Baxter was not himself and had clearly lost significant muscle mass. At his age, there was likely more going on than one treatable issue. The veterinarian could have easily recommended a long list of tests. Instead, he gave me real guidance. When I asked what he would do if it were his own dog, he told me he would choose euthanasia at this stage, explaining that "a day or a week too early is better than a day too late" to avoid unnecessary suffering. I had been struggling with this decision for a while, and that honesty helped me feel confident I was doing the right thing. It meant everything. Once I made the decision, the compassion from the staff was incredible. They handled everything with such care, dignity, and kindness. I've also been here before when Baxter was first diagnosed with heart failure, and had the same experience. The veterinarian literally told me it wasn't an emergency and that I could either proceed with treatment there or follow up with my regular vet the next day and save the cost of emergency care. That level of transparency really stuck with me. I'm truly grateful for this team and this office. If you're ever in a difficult situation with your pet, this is a place where you'll receive honest, compassionate care--not pressure to run unnecessary tests or take advantage of a vulnerable moment. They warned us that she's in the later stages of her heart condition. They were able to give her an IV with medication and oxygen to help her. We asked if it was her time, but they said not yet. The staff during this visit weren't the friendliest. We took her to her primary vet the next day and got medication prescribed. We were told again that she's okay and it's not her time yet, but to watch for the warning signs and to prepare ourselves. Unfortunately, a month after the first visit, she had a really bad episode in which we knew it was her time. We brought her back and luckily the staff during this second visit were more warm and comforting. They confirmed that it would be best to let her go and so we let her cross the rainbow bridge. They were very understanding in providing us all the time we needed with her. They definitely made this process more comforting. One thing I'd say is that we were sad that they mixed up her blanket and so they had hers in the back in the wash. We asked for it back and they gave it to us wet. I was sad her scent was washed away. Overall, they provided a good visit for us. They have an online waitlist system so you can join earlier. They have some complimentary snacks and water. Also a name tag making.

She suddenly started staggering, panting heavily, and acting very strangely. I was panicked, but a veterinarian friend immediately recommended I take her to Orange County Emergency Pet Clinic. From the moment we walked in, the staff was exceptionally kind and professional. They took her in immediately for emergency treatment with no wait time, which was a huge relief. The doctor was fantastic--he took the time to explain everything clearly, which really helped calm my nerves. After receiving activated charcoal and a Flumazenil injection, she showed incredible improvement within just a few hours. She is already back to her happy self, eating well and wagging her tail again. I am so grateful for their quick action and expertise. If you are in the OC area and find yourself in a scary situation with your pet, this is the place to go!

We noticed our hamster severely struggling to breathe, eat, and drink after having a reaction to Ivermectin that had been prescribed by another vet clinic. We rushed him to VEG, and the team immediately stepped in to help stabilize him and figure out what was going on. After receiving oxygen treatment and a care plan for an Upper Respiratory Infection, they sent us home with medication and supplemental food to help syringe-feed him. Even though he was just a hamster, he was me and my fiancé's first pet, and the staff truly treated him with kindness and respect. Dr. Stephanie was especially amazing (she told us she owned hamsters in the past) and she took the time to show us how to safely pick him up and feed him so we felt comfortable caring for him at home. She also answered all of our questions thoroughly and was transparent about the high risk of complications given his elderly age (2.5 years old). Over the next few days, we did see improvement. He started eating and drinking again, was breathing better, and even climbing around. He responded really well to the medication and supplemental food. Unfortunately, he relapsed a few days later and passed away in our arms at home, which we were told was a high possibility given how elderly he was. Nonetheless, we were so happy to have those last few 'healthy' days with him spending time with him. To us, that extra time with him was priceless, and that was all thanks to the quick care and professionalism by the VEG team. We took him back to VEG where Brittany helped guide us through the aftercare options with so much compassion. We live in an apartment so we honestly didn't know what options we had. We were given a quiet room to grieve and take our time deciding what felt right for us. We chose a private cremation and were really appreciative of how smooth and thoughtful the process was. About a week later, we received his ashes and paw prints. This was our first pet together so and we are so thankful for the warmth, empathy, and care VEG showed us and our tiny little guy every step of the way. We truly felt supported during one of the hardest experiences, and we couldn't recommend them enough.

They did x-rays and bloodwork, and after the x-rays I was told they thought they saw a mass and that it looked like cancer. I was told she would likely die soon. I was absolutely devastated. I left late at night crying with my son, truly believing we were about to lose her. I was even close to making the decision to put her down because I couldn't emotionally or financially handle what I was being told at that moment. They did suggest I go to Pasadena for an ultrasound and biopsy to confirm, so I woke up at 4 AM and drove her there. The testing took all day and was incredibly stressful. In the end, I was told there was no cancer. It turned out to be her organ positioning stacked on one another on the x-ray and some fluid that was biopsied but came back negative. A year later, my cat is now three years old and completely healthy. In total, I spent around $4,000 going through this process, along with a tremendous amount of emotional distress that I will never forget. I understand imaging can sometimes be difficult to interpret, but I wish the initial findings had been communicated that the xray cannot be clear showing what is there because the vet told me he was certain it was a mass and she would not live much longer. I guess she had a stomach ache. She was hydrated and given an appetite stimulant and-is well. I would be more than happy to give more stars because the staff did seem caring and compassionate, but this experience was extremely traumatic and financially draining for my family as a single mom. Within a few days of her coming home my son's stress was so high he had a collapsed lung at the age of 25. It was a rough time for us.
