I just wanted to leave a review for the staff that help save my dogs life. I am currently an employee there, but I was on the receiving end of care for my baby Penelope who had gotten lacerations and proptosis of her eye from a dog fight. The experience I had was nothing short of amazing and compassionate . The whole process from the moment she was taken by the receptionist as a stat, to the nurses and doctors who triaged her, was phenomenal. The traumatic experience had left me so scared, but everyone updated and made sure she was stabilized as soon as possible since she was in shock. It all meant the world to me and I want to thank Dr. Munoz for enucleating Penelope's eye and staying until 4 am to do the emergency surgery as well as the overnight nurses who monitored her surgery. The doctor was on top of my case and the team of hospitalized nurses worked on the clock to get her through her first couple nights while she was recovering from the head trauma. I felt so safe and like they had control of the situation, and I want to express my gratitude and love towards Lbc Vets. Every single person there showed compassion towards both Penelope and myself. Since Bruce is only 11 weeks old, they immediately placed us in a room to keep him separated from the other pets, which gave us so much peace of mind. We found our elderly cat barely breathing and took her to LBC vets on a Sunday morning, when our normal vet was closed. We ran her in and the staff was very helpful and took her back immediately to see if she had survived the car ride. The front desk was incredibly kind and gentle while discussing the finances, which I'm sure is very uncomfortable for them when dealing with a pet owner who is in a very highly emotional state. The person who let us know that she had not made it (in private) was very thorough in discussing our options for her remains. She also helped us remove her breakaway collar that we were having a difficult time removing ourselves. I felt that their pricing was comparable with what we've paid in the past at other locations, and that they did not take advantage of our vulnerability and tack on unnecessary charges. We found ourselves in need of an urgent care vet again, this time for our 18-year old cat Lily. First, I am so grateful that this place is open for extended hours and on Sundays. Fast forward to the point of this review-LBC Vets offered a reasonable treatment plan, reviewed it with us in detail, showed the cost up front, did not pressure us to follow any of the cost-associated options, and offered us excellent customer service (by Dr. Marroquin, the vet tech staff, the front desk staff). We took Lily in on a Sunday because of bleeding in her nose. The suspected cause was 100% unlikely (rat poisoning) since Lily was an indoor, lazy cat. The next obvious cause (cancer) was very likely, but LBC Vets didn't have the equipment to perform CT Scans or ultrasounds. Lily was stable, the bleeding had slowed down, and she was fiesty/angry at me taking her off her cat bed, so we brought her back home. Once home, she began bleeding again. I called LBC Vets and they asked me to bring her back (no exam fee this time). This time, Dr. Marroquin spent quite a while with us talking about all options for a treatment plan. We felt no pressure to do or not do any of the options suggested, and the cost was clear. With her sound advice, we took Lily home again, curled up for the night, and planned to take her to our vet, Little Cottonwood/Dr. Horvath) the next day (Monday). On Monday, Dr Horvath made her comfortable (pain med, sub-Q fluids, etc.), and we found a vet with an ultrasound specialist (Primary Care, Wardlow, LB). The ultrasound showed that Lily had been transparent and brave with us while cancer had grown throughout her sweet body. With the ultrasound information, we had all of the information we needed to make the decision to let her go in peace. The end of this story is sad. Saturday Lily was screaming/yowling for her breakfast at 4 am as usual, and Sunday we were in Urgent Care discussing treatment options. We knew the day would come, and finding the right kind of care during that time is crucial. I am grateful for LBC Vet's Dr. Marroquin's, the vet tech staff, and the front desk staff's professionalism, friendliness, helpfulness during this time with Lily. With that said, the cost was reasonable for what we received at LBC Vets. Dr. Marroquin spent enough quality time with us and with Lily to prepare us to find the right services on Monday so we could make a confident decision. I feel like this review is just going to make them busier but I won't gate keep. So the good is my 8yo labradoodle caught pneumonia last year. His previous vet wasn't giving him an adequate diagnosis or treatment plan and we had no idea what was really wrong but he kept getting sicker. We took him to another local vet and he still wasn't getting better so we ended up at LBC Vets. The vet's are caring and thorough. Long story longer...he was given a cocktail of meds; for which one, Theophyllyn made him even sicker. Although that was given under their care, he needed to be hospitalized and put in an oxygen chamber for 3 days. They course corrected immediately and took him off that med. He got better after about a month and a 1/2 after getting out the hospital, and we are so grateful. Cons: Parking: like others are saying, parking sucks. Be patient. Busy: Yes. It's busy. That's a good and bad thing. There is "some" parking in the back. Dr. Kessler and team provided such amazing care for my cat Bowie who went into respiratory distress two days ago. They took him in right away and admitted him. They made it as affordable as possible and kept me updated and were always available to answer any questions or concerns I had. I found out my Bowie has asthma but they explained how it's manageable and that he will be good! I can't express my gratitude enough to this office and how amazing they are. Been taking my cats here for a few years now and I always appreciate how they treat my fur babies. Making an appointment is pretty easy through the website, but they are also an emergency hospital so you can drop in if need be. The staff is always friendly and is gentle with my cats where I know they are in good hands. Both the techs and the vets take time to explain their choices and recommendations until I feel everything is understood. The facility itself is clean and well cared for, they even have treats for animals as well as some free drinks for people while waiting. As a heads up for parking, it's in a shared lot with many other business so it can get crowded. I believe they do have a couple designated spots out front. My only small gripe is they are sometimes slow to respond via text for non-urgent matters, but not something a call or visit couldn't fix. read more

We took our dog, Barbara, to this veterinary hospital several times over the past few weeks for recurrent urinary tract infections. Unfortunately, our experience was marked by significant delays, poor communication, and a lack of follow-up throughout her care. During our first visit as a walk-in, Barbara was seen fairly quickly. On the second visit, we again came as a walk-in and waited over eight hours. While we understand that emergency cases take priority and that the hospital was reportedly short-staffed, we were told it was okay to leave Barbara there and that a doctor would call us with updates. Hours passed without any communication. By 9:00 PM, having received no call, we returned to the hospital only to find that she still had not been seen. She was eventually evaluated late that night and prescribed another course of antibiotics, this time for two weeks, with plans for an ultrasound to rule out stones or other causes. The following week, Barbara had a scheduled ultrasound appointment. We dropped her off at 9:00 AM, but the ultrasound was not completed until approximately 5:00 PM. Afterward, we were instructed to obtain a repeat urine culture before finishing her antibiotic course. We were specifically told that this would be performed by a veterinary technician and would not require a veterinarian evaluation, which would incur an additional fee. When we arrived for the urine culture, the front desk informed us that no such appointment existed and that Barbara would need to be seen by a veterinarian to obtain the sample. This directly contradicted what we had been told previously. Only after asking staff to review the notes from our prior visit, which clearly documented the plan for a technician-only urine culture was the issue resolved. This unnecessary confusion delayed her care plan. After the urine sample was collected, we were told the culture results would be available within five days and that a doctor would contact us. Seven days passed with no communication. We called the office and were told a message would be sent to the doctor and that we would receive a call the next day. Again, nobody followed up. Several more days later, we called back and spent 45 minutes on hold trying to get clarification. Eventually, Dr. Budzinski spoke with us and informed us that the urine culture was negative. Had we been notified promptly, we could have avoided continuing unnecessary antibiotics. The most disappointing aspect of this experience was the lack of communication and follow-through. Throughout the entire process, there was little effort by the medical team to keep us informed about our dog's care, test results, or treatment plan. When we expressed our concerns, there was no meaningful acknowledgment or apology. Based on our experience, I cannot recommend this facility and will not be returning. read more

I've never had to make the trip to an emergency clinic until I got my second cat who displayed signs of constipation. Took our 16-year-old Jack, sweet guy, but battling signs of feline cognitive dysfunction (CDS, aka cat dementia). For a simple diagnosis, my wife called ahead; they said come in. We did. They took Jack to the back right away for "vitals." Three hours later, Nothing. Zero updates. Finally, they admit: "We can't touch him, he lashes out." I offered to go back, calm him myself, he knows me. Nope. Asked for a private room so I could settle him? Still no. Like we're asking for the moon. When they finally tried vitals, it sounded brutal, as if they were torturing him. Screams, thrashing. We pulled the plug, left with a traumatized cat and wasted night. They charged me double what my other vet charged for my dog($120). I did some research after and cytopoint for a 54lb dog generally costs $90-$160, they charged me $230. It used to be when you put your baby to sleep, it was just the injection. It's over. They took my dog to another room to put in a catheter, and since he was blind, it freaked him out. We heard him howling. They gave him a sedative to calm him down so when they brought him to us he was practically dead. We were enraged, but we bit our tongue. But I was reminded that I needed to because I had to cheat on Frank's vet because he needed a vaccine ASAP and unfortunately they couldn't fit him in until the following evening and I only had morning availability, so I cheated on them and I feel so guilty. But this is Frank's primary vet. Last year, I took our beautiful husky to a groomer I met at the dog park, who was making extra money, grooming animals on the side. He is a groomer at a legitimate business by day. Well that was a mistake and I learned it the hard way at Frank's expense (my monetary expense). Said groomer cut open his paw pad and we rushed him here. They took him immediately and sutured up his paw. It was a stressful ordeal but this office made the experience as tolerable as possible. They were so kind and commutative with us. They took really good care of us and since then we have brought Frank here for his annual exam and heart worm test. The office is clean and even though it's very busy, employees here communicate well and are so nice. We feel really lucky to have this office/clinic in our city and appreciate how good they've been to our boy.... Who truly is the goodest boy. read more

I've been to so many vets, this place is truly unique in my experience. The front office people are nice, and the vets are amazing. If I had one gripe, its that the front desk folks are sometimes not as organized as they could be .. kinda gotta remind them of things at times. But again, nice group of people. There is sometimes a wait, even worth appointments, BUT I will say the extended hours make up for this to me. They also respond quickly to Chewy refill requests. Prices are as expected for vet services. Parking is free and just out front. Facility inside is cute. My dog has diabetes. They were helpful in starting her treatment, showing me inexpensive ways to try and keep her healthy with blood sugar level checks. When she was really sick once, they brought her back from the brink and did it with creative ways of treatment. I really appreciate this team! read more

I went about a few weeks ago to urgent care as my frenchie was not eating and was looking bloated. I went to see if what would be wrong with him. I got seen by one of the vets. They assured me he looked fine and the bloating was most likely from him being fat. I paid $300 just to be told he was fine and that he had signs of fleas. He was still the same two weeks later so I took him to a different vet hospital. Turns out my frenchie had cancer in his stomach. By the time he got seen again it was too late to operate and be assured of his survival. I believe even that if we had been told earlier to do deeper exams my frenchie could have survived or least had a better time and not had to have suffered as much as he did. I would say to get a second opinion if the vet tells you your pet is fine when he is clearly not. read more

We were referred to this vet clinic when we had to say goodbye to our beloved Boston terrier. They are open very late in the evening evenings and even though we have not been seeing them for regular Vet Care they were so kind and so compassionate. The facilities is beautiful peaceful. They gave us plenty of time to say goodbye to our baby before they helped our beautiful girl cross the rainbow bridge. I really cannot say enough good things about LBC vets. They had refreshments and Kleenex and blankets so we could lay on the floor with her, it was calm and peaceful, and they checked on us with great tenderness and care. I'm so upset by the way this place handled the death of my cat. She passed away very suddenly we brought her in on her bed and her favorite toy was with her so she'd be comfy and the receptionist (who was not sympathetic at all and worried about the fact she was by herself) confidently affirmed that we'd be able to retrieve those items back. A week and a half and almost $400 later we get her back and the receptionist with black hair, tattoos and a nasty attitude told me they lost the items we brought her with and that "they don't hold onto things like that." We recently had to make a return trip to LBC Vets for pancreatitis. It was a really scary time with my big guy in the hospital for two nights! Once again, Dr. Munoz and the team treated him with such respect and care. It was awful being without him for two nights but I knew he was safe at LBC Vets. Dr. Munoz kept me updated and calm. I was a big apprehensive bringing my sweet babygirl to a new vet but I had an amazing person refer me to this establishment my daughter Melissa C. She lost her precious cat Kaylee who was 18 recently Lbc Vets handled everything and provided my grand-cat top tier medical treatment until the end it was a difficult time but my daughter had a team of staff who made her comfortable letting go after treatment was no further use. She later adopted three kittens who she calls the triplets Daisy Tulip and Summer and Lbc Vets is where she chose to start their journey and the kittens are very much loved by the staff. My fur baby Dylan Monroe who despises the vet needed a full standard checkup and two vaccinations. The clinic was very clean they offered me water coffee or soda while I waited and the staff was very nice I saw someone clean the room before we went inside and the vet tech we had was wonderful she had a very calming personality was very helpful and made my nervous baby less anxious while I answered intake questions afterwards she took Dylan to get weighed and my babygirl survived. Lol The vet came in and gave Dylan a full exam Dylan did great she gave me advice on Dylan's weight stating that she needs to lose 5 pounds she also gave me tips on food nail trims grooming dental care and information re flea meds etc including giving me me websites information to research. She offered to give Dylan her vaccinations in the room with me to help calm her I thought that was very kind and opted not to because I'm too emotional with my baby and let them take her to the back Dylan for her vaccinations and she did great. The physical exam and two vaccinations came to $144 not too bad they told me what to look out for after treatment and we headed home Dylan will definitely stay with this vet I like their style and the level of care they put towards their clients and parents. I brought Anakin here last week for some mysterious limping. The staff were able to get me a next day appointment instead of my needing to bring him in for an emergency visit. This location does both, so even though this place is a high stress work environment, the people are great. Give your emergency vet staff an inch of grace people. So expect to wait occasionally, and be thankful you aren't being seen immediately, it means your pet is OK! Have a complementary soda and take a breath. The staff are great about keeping you updated if you are having to wait a bit. I didn't feel pressured into unnecessary testing, I actually felt it leaned more on the conservative side. Vets and techs were great at explaining things if you had questions. Anakin was really feeling his sedation, so they kept him under observation than normal just to be on the safe side. Again, the staff were great about communication and keeping me updated with what was going on. They sent me a message the following day checking in to see how Anakin was feeling and I was able to ask some follow up questions that the staff were able to answer. We added some meds to his treatment plan and they were great about calling me and texting me when the pills were back in stock. They gave me a really cute note on his med bag that just shows the staff going above and beyond to make me smile during a very stressful time. Can't recommend this place enough. read more

DO NOT EUTHANIZE YOUR PET HERE! I recently had to make the hard decision to euthanize my 3yr old pit, this decision was not only unexpected but extremely painful for my family and I. After not receiving any updates on his ashes after 3 weeks i called back. I was informed that staff had mistakenly tagged my pets body for communal cremation instead of private and that i would not be receiving his ashes back after already spending over $500 to guarantee his ashes returned. Five Stars for Saving Winston Churchill (the Cat, Not the Prime Minister) My cat, Winston Churchill -- yes, a female Winston, because she's just as feisty and commanding as the original -- recently decided to snack on a dime. Apparently she took "give me ten cents worth of attention" a little too literally. The team at this vet clinic handled the whole situation like absolute pros. They didn't blink an eye when I told them my girl had eaten currency, nor when I explained her name. They swooped in, removed the dime, and returned her to me with all her sass fully intact. Winston is now back to ruling her household like the tiny, furry stateswoman she is -- and thanks to this amazing staff, she's no longer carrying spare change. Highly recommend. read more

This place is great. I went in around 9pm last night because my cat knocked over a picture frame and cut his tail. The atmosphere is very calming and the staff is welcoming and friendly. Dr. Rubio was also really friendly and patient with my cat. I really felt like the staff did all they could to make mine and my cat's experience a good one. It was a very late night (around 1am) when we were discharged and even all through that the front desk staff was extremely kind to me and made sure I had the invoice to submit to my pet insurance and watched me as I got into my car because it was late at night. This place has gone downhill and I won't be coming back. I came in originally to get my dog's vaccines done, but the office was way too busy, so I had to reschedule to the following day, but while I was there I also requested a refill for my dog's antibiotic ointment through Chewy. Later that day, the office called and told me they actually had the medication in stock. What they didn't tell me was that it was 8x more expensive than ordering it online. I'll admit, I should've asked about the price, but there should be some level of transparency. Don't just conveniently leave that part out and charge an insane amount. The next day, I came back for my dog's vaccines and picked up the medication. When I saw the receipt, I was honestly shocked by how high the price was. I called the front desk right away and was told I could come back the next day to return it so I could get it through Chewy instead. I made it very clear that I'd be coming in the following day, and they said that was fine. Fast forward to the next day, I show up and suddenly they refuse to do the exchange, even though I was told the exact opposite the day before. No accountability, just "sorry" and that was it. On top of all this, the front desk staff seems to change every single time I come in. You're constantly dealing with new people who don't know what's going on, which leads to mixed information and situations like this. I wouldn't recommend bringing your pet here. It really feels like they care more about your money than your pet, and that's not something I'm willing to deal with anymore. read more

Even with an appointment, what we were told would take 1 hour and 30 minutes became 6 hours and counting. The staff are nice, but did nothing to help. For example, we asked to have our dog back after her blood sample and they said they would get her and didn't until another 30 minutes (after I asked again). The bill was radically expensive too. This place recommended getting my dog spayed even though she was 12years old. When asked if there were any risks due to her age they said they would do blood work and check her heart before procedure to make sure she was ok . I asked them to give me a call before they start and they never did. I then get a call her heart stopped working on the table !! They said " oh maybe she had heart problem we can do a biopsy to check" my dog is dead now. Please take your fur babies elsewhere. read more

I found LBC Vets via Yelp and made the 15 min drive to Long Beach and I'm so glad I did. From the moment I walked in, I felt a sense of relief that I chose the right place to take my dog to. I was out of town when my Lola girl started making awful yelping noises. She has an unknown lump on her side and when I finally heard her cry, I knew it wasn't normal. I took her to LBC Vet's and they roomed us right away. The room was clean and had some music playing. The wait, however, was long but I also work in the medical field so I knew it wasn't going to be a "get in and get out" kind of visit. I had my kindle with me so I didn't mind the hour long wait to be seen. Once Dr. Miralaie came in to examine Lola, she was excellent. She took the time to explain everything to me and I didn't feel like she was rushing to get us out quickly. She took her time and looked over my dog thoroughly about 2-3 times to make sure she wasn't missing anything. After the exam, she explained her diagnosis and some treatments to follow. Then the nurse came in and went over everything, including treatments and the cost of it all. Not once did I feel like they were pushing me to do this or that procedure or testing (which my dog does need) right away and explained whether it would change anything if it was done now or later. I wasn't pressured to feel like I needed to get it all done right there and then. I really do believe they care so much for the animals that go through their office. From the moment I arrived to the moment I left, I felt good about my visit. I paid for a couple medications and the urgent care visit and I will definitely be back for the follow ups. DO NOT TAKE YOUR PET HERE! This practice severely neglected a special needs cat that ultimately led to her death. This cat is the victim of not only neglect, but also incompetence, deception, malpractice, and inadequate medical attention. This hospital also falsifies records. All of my statements are supported by the medical record itself. The doctor did not perform treatment that was agreed upon with the client (signed estimate). Vital signs were not taken or recorded. For example, the heart rate and respiratory rate were only recorded twice from a patient that was there for 7+ hours and presented with anemia and labored breathing. The hospital staff did not check on the patient for a minimum of 4 hours during which she became hypothermic and hypovolemic. It is my belief as a veterinary medical professional that the patient most likely went into shock and could not recover. Now the hospital is refusing to provide the owner with vital medical records and consent forms. Hiding something much? Buttercup was a spunky little girl who inspired many because she did not let her debilitating disability stop her from living her best life. Her death is a great loss to the world. LBC vets has been our vet for the past few months. However, over the last few months they have accidentally sent the wrong vaccine paperwork and incorrectly stated that our dog had vaccines that they didn't. During our most recent visit, our dog was spayed. During this time they gave us a quote for a neuter (our dog is a girl), they chipped our dog without consent (our dog was already chipped), they would have known that she was chipped, if they checked. During the spay process, we were not given much information when we had questions and had to repeatedly call for updates or to confirm appointments. They gave us an incorrect prescription for antibiotics after the spay and the person who "educated" us on the medication did not notice. If you are looking for an aesthetically pleasing vet office- this is your place! If you're looking for high-quality care, look elsewhere. We will not be returning. read more
