My chihuahua Pepe

1. Emergency room processes. Took my chihuahua to ER (has liver and kidney disease) at 10 am for ultrasound). He was put in a cold room and didnt get his ultrasound for 8 hours. No food during that time which exacerbated his nausea and condition. By the time I brought him home he was wet, shivering cold, extremely nauseated and had bloody diarrhea all night. Took him to my vet next morning and found he was dehydrated and needed anti nausea medication. 2. Better communication and transparency. Being able to ask doctor questions directly instead of liasoning through their assistants. 3. Money hungry taking advantage of desperate pet owners. Yes they quoted the price, but in an emergency situation you have no choice.

Beebs second week after treatment. A lot healthier and energetic. Elinimated innout patties, over snacking, chipotle cheese from diet.

My dog was showing symptoms of melena (back tar-like stool, diahrea, persistent vomiting every 3 hrs, low energy). Visited Glendora Emergency initially out of concern of the low Yelp rating for Access. Glendora did the bloodwork and X-rays, and prescribed metronidazole. The first 5 days on the med suggests she's getting better. However, the symptoms returned a week later and she stopped eating for 3 days. We then visited Access. Same initial process (bloodwork, X-ray). Finding nothing, and to pursue the root cause, ultrasound is suggested as it's the next step in the process. Like many I was hesitant at first. Symptoms continued so I brought her back the next day for IV treatment and ultrasound. Early evening I contacted Access and was expecting another diagnostic recommendation. But to my suprise they identified the root cause, acute pancreatitis. I was so relieved and grateful for their efforts. I thought the metronidazole caused my pet to stop eating, but the Dr took a bigger picture approach and was able to ID the root cause. Appetite enhancer, pain med, and probiotics were prescribed. And in both visits, refunds were issued for some of the estimates which was already paid. This demonstrates some level of honesty and integrity. Within a week, the symptoms began to subside. The stool went from black to brown, watery to soft and now solid. No more vomits or pain. The experience improved my perspective and opinion on vets. Yes, you may find out what the issue is through googling, but they still have a process to follow to identify and confirm the issue. In the end, it's all worth it.

10/10 ! I've come here twice for different cats and I wish they could always be my vet. The wait isn't too bad. The waiting room is well stocked with free coffee and tea and a vending machine. They ask lots of questions, let my know what financial obligations may come up, and are quick and efficient. Rupert healed EXCELLENT, my TNR outdoor baby had a nasty abscess, but he was flushed and put on antibiotics. Very expensive, but worth it

When we were getting ready to help her cross the rainbow bridge

The staff and doctor were extremely compassionate. Our rescue Frenchie that was between 10-14 years old started having seizures about six months ago, but today, she was suffering with cluster seizures that wouldn't stop. The doctor was very compassionate in giving us choices but very carefully and lovingly said it was a hard decision but most likely time. When she kept having them, I instinctively knew it was going to be time to help her cross the rainbow bridge. As many rescues that we've had and have helped to cross the bridge, I can honestly say it never gets easier. It never hurts less to make that decision, but it helps when the staff is so compassionate. I love you Bon Bon, and I'm going to miss you. Thank you to everyone at Access Pasadena for your compassion during this difficult time.

$3,635 for tests and ultrasound for my cat. This DOESNT include the $1,000 charge for resuscitation they want me to sign if my cat dies.

I hate leaving bad reviews, but I was really disappointed in my visit to Access. My primary veterinarian performed a biopsy and ultrasound for my cat and referred me to Access Pasadena for another ultrasound and for their internist to review the case. Access had one month before my appointment to gather my cat's records, tests, and notes from my primary vet. When I arrived, the intake questionnaire asked if my cat had fasted. I checked "No" because no one from Access had told me fasting was required. The technician at the front desk said that might be an issue but went to check with the veterinarian. She returned and confirmed that it was still okay to proceed with the $210 consultation, even though my cat had not fasted. However, once I was in the exam room, the veterinarian came in, repeated information my primary vet had already told me, and then said she could not proceed because my cat had not fasted. This was confusing since their own staff had already confirmed that the visit could move forward. The vet also told me my previous tests from November 2025 were now considered outdated and that she needed my primary vet's full notes. This was surprising because Access had an entire month before the appointment to request whatever information they needed. Instead, I was told this only after arriving. After a very brief visit, the vet provided a quote including a $745 ultrasound, bringing the estimate to $3,635 total. Nearly $2,900 of that was for repeating tests simply because the previous ones were done a few months earlier. In the end, I was charged $210 for a consultation that lasted only a few minutes, where the vet mostly repeated what I already knew and then said she could not proceed further. Now I have to redo tests with my primary vet, schedule another appointment with Access, and pay the $210 consultation fee again, along with the ultrasound. If the staff had simply told me at the beginning that my cat couldn't be seen without fasting, I would have happily rescheduled and avoided wasting $210. To make matters worse, on top of the estimate, 2nd page included another $1,000 charge for resuscitation if something goes wrong during testing, bringing the total to over $4,600 just for diagnostics and monitoring--before any treatment even begins. If surgery is required (which my primary vet suspects may be the case), the total could easily exceed $10,000+ at Access. CPR should be free, not a $1,000 option. Situations like this highlight what feels wrong with healthcare--not just for people, but for our pets as well. Charging thousands for tests AND TREATMENT is one thing, but charging $210 for a consultation that couldn't actually proceed because of issues the clinic already knew about beforehand does not sit right with me.... on top of the exorbitant quote I received just for retests. I'll update this review after my next visit. Hopefully management sees this and considers offering a complimentary consultation, since I essentially paid $210 for a visit that provided no meaningful consultation. I left the appointment feeling poorer, without learning anything new about my cat's condition, and after taking unpaid time off work to attend the visit--something I'll now have to do again for the next appointment. Overall, it was a very frustrating experience.

Ridiculous bill

We were refer to ACCESS Pasadena internal medicine specifically (Dr. SG) by our primary vet for our cat. Our cat has been having chronic cough and breathing issues, that is why we wanted someone who is specialized and who can go in depth with how we can help our cat. They took our cat to another room for examination and vital signs. Then, the doctor came in and told us she did an exam and heard increase and congested breath sounds (something we've obviously know because we live with the cat, duh?!), says nothing about his vital signs, without even asking assessment questions. The next thing she says was we need blood work, xray, and bronchoscopy. That was pretty much it, no options, no explanation at all. We understand diagnostic is important but to someone who is in medical field (which I am), she gave us no understanding of what labs they're doing and what it can tell us, what X-ray will show us. Most importantly, zero explanation of benefits and risks in sedating a 13 year old cat who is frail and sensitive, stick a tube down his throat just because we need data points. This speaks to me as a medical professional as no bedside manner, she does not know how to communicate with patient's family, and probably burned out. Her only "sympathetic" statement was the cat is precious to us therefore we should do all these things. It took us 1.5 month to schedule this visit, dr's visit was 15mins, the only thing they did was vital signs. Come on! Do I really need to pay $220 for you to tell me what I do already know??? We asked for the bill if these things were to happen (attached photo) which was ridiculous and decided to run away from this place. Our pets need us to advocate for them and this business is just hungry for money with no help and takes advantage of pet owners. I would definitely bring this up to better business bureau. I would not recommend this place at all. Pet owners out there, please beware!

We arrived with our puppy around 12:00 a.m. after he had fallen and appeared to be injured. I was standing at the front desk in tears, begging for anyone to please at least take a look at him. Instead of receiving any compassion or basic help, I was told, "You are not considered an emergency priority. The wait time is 4-6 hours." I have never experienced such a lack of care in my life. We waited for more than 4 hours in an exam room hoping that at least one doctor would come in to check on him. During that entire time, several staff members walked past our room, and not a single person stopped to ask how my puppy was doing or whether his condition had gotten worse. I had to keep getting up and reminding them that we were still there waiting. It was an incredibly upsetting and disappointing experience, especially in a place that is supposed to help animals in distress. I never want to return. To make things even worse, I also saw another person come in with a dog that was actively bleeding, and the receptionists barely reacted. They did not seem concerned at all. I have never seen such cold, indifferent, and unprofessional treatment at any clinic before.

Five stars for the doctors -- their medical expertise and dedication can truly save your pet's life, and we are very grateful for the care they provided. However, I have to take one star away because of the billing practices. Pet owners should carefully review their itemized bills. In our case, we noticed charges that did not match the services that were actually performed. They also double charged on the procedures (ie. the ultrasound). As a healthcare provider myself, I understand how medical billing works. Clinics cannot simply add charges or create itemized bills that do not accurately reflect the services provided. I sincerely hope this was an honest mistake or oversight. But if billing is not carefully reviewed, situations like this can happen -- and that is especially troubling when pet owners are already under tremendous emotional stress while trying to care for a sick pet. Hopefully the Billing team department saw this review and pay special attention to this matter. Thank you.

This isn't their fault that my dog passed, but I am truly at a loss for words that they actually charge this much to perform CPR. It is something that is physically free to do. The pet is no longer alive so the risk of being bitten is nonexistent. I can't wrap my mind around why on earth it would cost anything at all. And yes, I've performed CPR on more people than I could count working bedside nursing during the COVID 19 pandemic so I understand how exhausting it could be, still can't figure it out. It truly is exploitation. Healthcare in this country is a joke even down to the care our animals get. It's cruel, and inhumane and you should be ashamed of yourselves.

My family and I had an amazing experience with ACCESS even though we were there for a heartbreaking situation. Something people tend to not realize or understand is that having a pet can be expensive. Veterinary care, especially emergency or specialty care, is very pricey. The hope is that your pet will never have to go through any scenario that requires either type of care but the reality is, it will most likely happen one way or another. My almost 17 year old cat had to be admitted to the ER for a blood transfusion two days before Christmas. She was in stage 4 kidney disease and was anemic. She also had to be transferred to internal medicine for additional lab work and tests. The techs and doctors called us daily to keep us updated. Unfortunately, while the transfusion went well, other parts of her body began to shut down. We were able to bring her home on Christmas for a few hours before making the decision to take her back for euthanasia. It was the hardest thing we ever had to do but every single person we encountered, from the receptionists to the nurses to the doctors, were so amazingly knowledgeable and kind. I could not have asked for a better experience during such a difficult time. To be transparent, I now have a $6000 bill to pay after 3 days of ICU care, treatment, and the euthanasia but she was my first pet and whatever I could do to make her last days as comfortable as possible was worth it to me. They do take CareCredit so I'm able to pay it off over the course of a year without interest. Based off my personal experience, I highly recommend ACCESS.

I have been coming here for a little over a year now, and the way the staff members have treated my son as if he was their own I went through two oncologists here, and I love Dr. Tansey. She is knowledgable and realistic yet caring and you can tell she loves helping pets. Sidenote: also love how they have free coffee lol

Unfortunately, our experience left a very poor & unprofessional first impression. AFTER ALL WE ARE PAYING FOR A SERVICE!! Upon arrival, we encountered a sign at the front desk that was extremely condescending and immediately gave the impression of a business more interested in enforcing rules than treating patients with respect. There is a 10-minute grace period that is not clearly communicated beforehand, and if you are even slightly late, the clinic threatens to cancel your appointment and charge a late fee. We were only about five minutes late due to a long line and parking delays, yet we were told our appointment was canceled and a late fee would be applied. The staff at the front desk were dismissive and RUDE AF!!!! , particularly one woman who seemed to enjoy asserting power over patients. She even hung up abruptly on a caller saying, "I'll call you back, I'm busy." When we requested to speak to the manager, the response was only slightly better, still condescending, and we were reprimanded for explaining the situation. It felt very much like being treated as children rather than valued clients. For a clinic that presumably cares for animals, this lack of empathy, patience, and basic courtesy was courtesy was shocking. If you're treating your HIGH PAYING CLIENTS THIS BAD!? HOW ARE YOU TREATING OUR BELOVED ANIMALS? YIKES. The behavior at the front desk, combined with the aggressive sign, makes it very difficult to feel comfortable or welcome. We hope the owners and doctor are made aware of this, as staff attitude can seriously affect a clinic's reputation and patient loyalty. We are reconsidering whether to continue using this clinic and strongly encourage owners particularly more than poor management to retrain front desk staff on professionalism and compassion. Patients who spend significant amounts on pet care deserve to be treated with respect and understanding (especially during their first visit) Once this behavior is put on social platforms such as Yelp, Google. Even tik tok you will suffer greatly by allowing your front desk to abuse your clientele? What an absolute embarrassment. Take your disgusting signs down before you go viral.

I triple checked our text chain, phone log, emails, and even PetDesk - none of which have anything from Rosey before our appointment on 3/3. Naturally, I questioned the additional charge (there was already a USDA fee that I paid for on the original invoice) and mentioned that I had no correspondence from Rosey leading up to the appointment. I received such a condescending and accusatory email back from her and was essentially told she would not help me in the future. I'm still waiting to connect with management and share screenshots showing that Rosey never reached out to me before our appointment. I completely understand that mistakes happen and I would have been fine to pay the additional fee. However, I don't stand for gaslighting and false accusations.

They are not my personal vet, and will never be. They serviced dogs that I fostered through a reputable agency. The animal that I brought in was a hospice foster that was in my home for over a year, and I was told I could hold her while she was euthanized. The rescue had called ahead with the details and I gave them the dog, but they then ignored me for two hours. The receptionist was extremely rude and condescending and would not let me talk to anyone about the situation. I begged for two hours to talk to the vet, and she kept treating me like I was wasting her time. In the meantime, my foster was in a crate in the back of the building. I finally got to talk to a vet on the phone after the two-hour wait, and she told me "Ok, we'll put her to sleep"!! I was agonized and told her that I was supposed to be with the dog during this process. At this point, I had been weeping for two hours and just wanted to hold my foster. Another 45 minutes went by, and I was told to meet them outside the back of the building. While I was sitting there, I could hear employees in the back room laughing and making fun of clients. Rats were running back and forth across the fence. It was dark when the process finally happened, and I was able to go home. It was absolutely the worst experience at a veterinary hospital in my years of fostering. I wrote a letter detailing the ordeal to the vet manager. Some of the vets are good, others not so much. We finally decided to switch to a new practice after experiencing enough errors and lapses in care to realize our dogs are not safe receiving care at Vet Villa. I strongly recommend avoiding Vet Villa. 1) Vet Villa prescribed Carprofen flavored tablets to our dog for a painful condition. We were not instructed to keep the bottle far out of reach. The dog found the pill bottle, chewed through the plastic, ate all the pills and suffered an accidental overdose. This led to 2 emergency vet visits, gastrointestinal toxicity that kept us up all night for 5 nights, and large out of pocket costs. But we are glad our dog is still alive. The emergency vet told us they always counsel pet parents to keep this medication bottle far away from the pet, and that they have seen multiple similar overdoses. Vet Villa did not acknowledge my feedback to change their counseling practices to prevent this from happening to others in the future. 2) A skin biopsy was performed in a completely inappropriate fashion by a veterinarian who acted as if she had never evaluated a skin lesion before. I can speak to this because I am a practicing dermatologist. The vet's approach as she examined reminded me of a first year medical student evaluating a condition for the first time. I did not contradict the vet's recommendation and gave it a chance. After all, I am a human doctor, what do I know about veterinary care. As expected, the results returned inconclusive due to the incorrect sampling method. The out of pocket cost was significant. 3) Bloodwork was lost and had to be re-drawn -- no explanation for why it was lost. 4) The practice's own pharmacy does not share prescription records with the office. I was asked in a very accusatory way to provide proof of a prescription that had been continuously refilled by Vet Villa using their own pharmacy for several years.

We got our puppy from a very reputable breeder. We took her to Dr Callieteau for her "well puppy" check-up as we needed to do so within a week after getting her to make sure she was healthy. Dr. C gave her a puppy exam and assured us she was fine - other than having a common parasite which we were aware of and was easily remedied with medication. Dr. C's notes stated there were "no concerns" with Juna. Juna made another visit to SM animal hospital a few weeks later to make sure the parasite problem was gone. Nothing else was noted as being an issue at this appointment. On April 24th we returned with Juna for a vaccine and I asked the tech to please have Dr. C look at her right eye as it had never looked quite right to me. As we checked out, we were told Juna was fine and nothing was noted about her eye. On May 15th we returned for another visit to do lab work ( because she had been put on a flea /heartworm medication that required follow up) and again we requested the Dr. to look at Juna's eye. Dr. C said that the eye did look different and bloodshot because of the way it was further back in the socket than the left eye. We were told we should take her to an ophthalmologist to be sure it was nothing, but it was not urgent and most likely didn't affect Juna's sight. On May 27th we took Juna to an eye specialist where she was diagnosed with a severe congenital condition that resulted in complete blindness in her right eye! It was a condition that had been there since birth - oculoskeletal dysplasia 1! It is an inherited disorder that causes deficiency of collagen which causes ocular and skeletal abnormalities. Dr. C should have been aware of this as Juna's front legs are slightly shorter than her back legs - another symptom of OCD1. At the very least, he should have noticed something wrong long before we had to point it out. At this point Juna has become part of our family and we would never consider giving her back to the breeder, though the breeder did offer us that option. If we had known about this problem the first few days we had her, we might have considered trading her for another puppy as we now have years of special doctors bills as well as the possibility of Juna losing sight in her left eye too. Maybe it's time for Dr. C to retire!

It is incredibly sad how downhill Petsadena has gone. I first went there in 2017 after adopting my…read moredog. Dr Evelyn is always thorough in giving treatment and answering all questions, though she now doesn't have many appointments available and has her other doctors take the vast majority of patients. Dr Li is ok but not as good as Dr Evelyn, he often does not follow up with test results and you have to track him down to get answers. Not to mention their prices are insanely high, even for CA standards. And when you finish a tech appointment, they just try to rush you out of there and hand your dog over, you have to really dig to get some information on your pet or how to use medication. The main issue is that Petsadena now directs calls to a call center operator with AI-like humanoids. Most of the time they don't even answer. If they do, they do everything in their power to avoid connecting you to the vet's office. Explaining the issue or leaving a message is useless, never get a return call. Really frustrating experience not being able to get connected to a human that can handle questions or issues. I have since found a new vet. What a difference 9 years can make, very unfortunate this is the way they treat long-term clients now. Will always be fond of Dr Evelyn as a 5star vet, just not the business practices Petsadena has resorted to.

They were going for a money grab at the last minute recommending very expensive treatment, knowing that she was gonna die anyway, and then I couldn't get a hold of them in a time of need and had to go to another vet. It wasn't their fault that that she died but they definitely didn't help. And, in general they're a terrible place to visit because you can't even use their restroom while you're there. You could be spending thousands of dollars sometimes and you can't even use their bathroom! Also, after she died and I informed them that she died, they kept sending me reminders for Vaccines that were due. I it took three emails and finally one emotional phone call to get them to stop sending me appointment reminders for a deceased pet. It was cruel.

All of the staff and vets treat my dogs as if they are the most favorite dogs they deal with, the most special dogs they deal with, the most beautiful dogs they deal with--and I know it is not true but it is nice to feel that way. lol. Nevertheless, we are on our third round of rescue dogs at the point, and we still go to Foothill over other places we have tried in the area. The new remodel has also helped the flow of the office A LOT. (p.s. the person who I commented on in my past review is gone, maybe because of their horrible bedside manner and weird upselling).

My cat Luna was very sick, and while the outcome was heartbreaking, Dr. Tom took the time to explain everything clearly, answer every question, and never rushed us. I am grateful for the patience, professionalism, and humanity shown to us during such a painful time. Thank you for helping Luna feel safe and loved, and for helping us make an incredibly difficult decision with compassion.

Truly amazing people that work here. Took in my dog months ago for a walking issue. Dr…read more Sanfilippo was extremely kind and knowledgeable. After some testing, was able to diagnose and treat, but unfortunately there was an unexpected terminal diagnosis that was caught which was unrelated to the initial concern. I am grateful she was able to make this diagnosis so my family could have closure and spend more quality time with him. We had to euthanize him months later and Dr. Sanfilippo happened to be the doctor that day as well. I am so grateful to her and her team. So compassionate and sympathetic. Later, I received a card with handwritten notes from the team. Above and beyond! Nataly at the front desk was always smiling and cheerful. All of the staff were amazing and I apologize that I cannot remember their names. I appreciate you all and for all that you do.

It used to feel more like a family there. Now, they hardly speak to you, and you just sit there until they take you back. Everything is almost sterile. The emergency vet we saw a couple years ago was a warmer and more caring environment. I like that they have updated the exam rooms and facilities and they use a website that has a booking feature, which is convenient, but they are REALLY expensive. We thought it was expensive after his last wellness exam, but he really needed to get in to see someone, and we thought, "Why not stay where he has been since he was a puppy?" We just took him in for a vet tech appointment to renew his prescription. They said it would be an easy and quick appointment to get labs done. He also needed to do his updated rabies shot. The total was over $500. Even his prescription with them was $70 for a monthly supply of gabapentin. We did that twice before a friend of mine recommended using Chewy instead. We pay $4.80 for a month's supply (60 pills) of the same medication. The vet was nice when we met with her. She was kind to our very shy senior dog, but despite thinking she was great, it isn't enough to keep us at this veterinarian any longer.
