Well, it seems it's a type of immune disorder that is very common, so it's not as bad as we thought. You can never take any chances when there is unusual growths, so we're happy the kind veterinarian was able to diagnose after a brief surgery to remove a portion of the growth. I'm gonna save you the trouble if you have a senior pet with health issues. Their policy since the pandemic is if your pet has underlying health issues, they won't even see them. I wanted to bring one of my cats in for a cleaning, and they said they wouldn't see him without an echocardiogram first because a doctor once detected a low grade murmur. He'd been treated for hyperthyroidism before, so this made sense to me. I found a teeth cleaning service that makes house calls, doesn't need anesthesia and is way cheaper. Then I fostered a rescue that needs dental surgery. Their website says they work with 501(c)3 charities at their discretion. But because this cat is old and has some health issues, they won't see him. The receptionist recommended some other veterinary dental practices. It must be nice to turn down work. Since they can pick and choose their patients these days, then I'll share what they told me their criteria is if you're looking for a veterinary dentist. read more

I have been looking at various vets throughout the area to get quotes for a dental cleaning for my cat. The vast majority of vets won't give you an estimate and force you to go in and pay for a visit, which I think is a dirty business tactic. I contacted them, and they gave me a detailed estimate. I was playing with our dog Lincoln, a 75lb. Bouvier des Flanders, in the backyard when he bailed and went face first into the ground and came up with his mouth covered in blood. After going to his regular vet, they said he'd probably need an extraction of his upper front tooth. They gave me a bunch of referrals, but none were even close to my town. However, I happen to have driven by Advanced Veterinary Dentistry dozens of times, as they're located about 5 minutes from my house. I checked their reviews and they're really good! So I called them instead and they got us in for an appointment. Dr. Lynn was SUPER nice and caring, as well as knowledgeable about what needed to be done. Long story short, Lincoln had his tooth extracted and all is well now. Throughout the few visits, all of the staff was so sweet to Lincoln! Most of them knew him by name when we walked in the door and were all so kind. Dr. Lynn went above and beyond when seeing his labs, suggesting a re-check on something that we might want to keep an eye on that had nothing to do with dentistry. This place was an expensive joke. I thought I was doing the right thing by going to the vet dentist - as my cat has had teeth problems issues in the past. First you can't go back with your pet. Second the fear mongering and shame into getting your money. Third they never even mentioned the actual problem with my cats drooling and infection. After the bad vibes, I went to our regular vet and he immediately addressed the issue, made a plan and took care of the issue. I called them to make an appointment to get my dog's teeth cleaned. She is only two years old but already has some brown stains...looked like tartar buildup to me. After explaining the situation to the person that picked up the phone, Marlene, I was advised on how to care for my dog's teeth with brushing, specific toothpaste, rinses, and also what kinds of crunch food I can give my dog to clean out her teeth. She said that my dog was a little too young to need a teeth cleaning, and for me to try out the methods for a month and see if it helps the problem. I called, ready to hand over my hard-earned money to have my dog's teeth cleaned. Instead, I got something much more valuable in return: Honest and professional advice! We took our dog Mango for a dental cleaning with Dr. Lynn here, and the attentive and personal service/care/attention is unlike anything I've experienced at other doctor offices -- for either humans or animals. My wife and I felt like Mango got the best dental care possible here, and Dr. Lynn took incredible care of our little girl. She recommended an oral gel and an oral cleanse that we're using to this day, and Mango's teeth have been much better since she started that regimen. We really appreciated being provided the photos and x-ray copies by Dr. Lynn as well, as we haven't ever gotten those kinds of materials in the past, and it helps to validate the excellent work that was done for Mango here. To give some more background on why we really appreciated the photos, we took Mango to VCA-TLC several years ago for her first dental cleaning, and long story short, we ended up seeing another dog dentist for a separate issue only 1 week later, and that dentist was perplexed looking in Mango's mouth & told us that she saw no evidence that the dental cleaning (that we paid VCA $1200 for) was ever even completed 1 week ago. VCA provided no photos or x-rays of the work they did, so we felt really scammed by the whole experience. Since then, we have not taken Mango to the regular vet for her dental cleanings -- only specialty dentists, like Dr. Lynn. We're so thrilled to now have Dr. Lynn as Mango's dentist, and to have Mango in such excellent care, with photo evidence and all. Dr. Lynn even came out to personally speak to us about Mango's results after the procedure, which was really kind. She talked through each photo and what she observed, taking the time and care to explain things in layman's terms to us. She really went above and beyond in every single detail with Mango and we were very appreciative of everything. It's a trek for us to go out to Pasadena for Mango's dental cleanings (from West Hollywood), but Dr. Lynn is so worth it to give Mango the highest quality and most loving care possible. I LOVE this place. I am so grateful for Dr. Lynn and all the staff here. They helped save my cat's life and improve her quality of life. My cat has severe stomatitis and it seemed to progress relatively fast. We didn't realize how bad it was until it was late and we really needed help. It got so bad my cat couldn't eat. It is not easy to find a Vetinary specialist in dentistry. Especially one we trust. I was so worried when we called bc my cat stopped eating and was suffering daily. We got so lucky when we called we were able to get a same day consultation. They helped us with the pain and we scheduled an appointment. Our baby had two surgeries with Dr. Lynn. Wow I had an A++++ experience here! One of the smoothest interactions with a vet I've ever had and I have two very sick kitties who have seen a lot of vets. One of my cats chipped his canine tooth and unfortunately our primary vet was very unhelpful. I called Advanced Vet Dentistry and explained the urgent situation my cat was in after our primary vet wasn't of much help, they were so accommodating and offered to squeeze us in the same day. I took Sierra in for a consultation because of her 2 chipped teeth. They were already chipped when I adopted her. She is a medium sized Siberian Husky mix and is 2 years old. One chipped tooth is her canine tooth and another was a small incisor next to the canine tooth. I believe Advanced Veterinary Dentistry is family owned by Dr. Lynn. She is a wonderful woman with a very calm aura that truly wants what is best for the dog. I believe her husband helps the business and answers the phone. He is a very nice man and really pleasant to talk to haha. There is maybe another 1-3 assistants. My point is, the business is run authentically by the owners and you can see the amount of care given to their practice and cause. Plus everyone is super nice! Definitely an environment I want my dog to be in - calm, nice, relaxed. The consultation was very smooth. My dog gets nervous going to doctors or dentist offices. During the exam, Dr. Lynn gave her chicken treats to make sure it was a pleasant experience. It was difficult for her to take pictures of the teeth so she ended up taking her outside and having me hold her lips open so she could take pictures. I really liked that decision. She wants what's best for the dog and takes the route of the least stressful for the dog. Dr. Lynn examined Sierra's teeth and supplied detailed pictures and explained the 2 options for Sierra. She explained to me what was happening with her teeth and what was going on in the roots as well. There was no pressure on which method I'd choose and Dr. Lynn explained there is no "right" or "better" way. I really liked that she presented the options objectively and respected whatever decision I'd make. I found the payment estimates to be very fair as well. The day of the surgery I decided to have Sierra's canine and incisor tooth extracted. It took about 4 hours from when I dropped her off and when I went to pick her up. The operation went very smoothly. Sierra came out looking more lively and herself than usual. Normally after anesthesia she is very dazed. But this time she was cheerful and very hungry! Haha. They gave me clear aftercare directions for Sierra and some non steroidal medication. They also included clear pictures of before and after the procedure. In addition, a detailed report explaining the procedure, i.e. the situation before, and results after. The next day, Dr. Lynn texted me to check up on Sierra. I really appreciated this because it shows she cares and how adaptive they are and up to date with technology. A simple text gets the job done and warrants quick and easy response/communication. Covid process. Since this is during COVID, I would call them and wait in my car outside. They are very safe and COVID friendly. In summary, Dr. Lynn is a professional. She not only has the technical skills but has a good heart and cares for the animals. She wants them to be as comfortable as they can and is looking out for their well being. NEW PATIENT REVIEW: My pup has yet to get work done here, but this review is regarding initial consultation meeting. I came here based on a recommendation from a family member who had a dog treated here, and they did a great job. Due to COVID-19, we were unable to go inside the facility. So, I had to park, and a nurse came and got my pup. I traded my pup for a clipboard and some paperwork to fill out while they checked his teeth. Perhaps about 15 min later, they brought him back to me, and the doctor actually came with him to speak with me. She had me get out of the car, so she could tell me her initial findings as well as review next steps. I ended up getting my pup this bottle that I spray on his gums once a day, so in the parking lot, the doctor showed me how to do it. She also handed me one large sheet of photo paper that had 4 pics of my pup -- 3 of them were of his teeth and 1 was a cute headshot of my pup. : ) I thought that was pretty cool. The initial consultation is pricey, but given the recommendation I got to come here plus the personalized attention me and my pup received, I am confident in returning to this location to move forward on dental plans for my pup pending some bloodwork. To preface this, I had called 5 other vet dental specialists and I was quoted appointments between 1.5 months and 3 months away. One place didn't even bother to call me back after repeated attempts to schedule. Advanced Veterinary Dentistry was the only place who recognized my urgency and got me a consultation appointment within the week. After the consultation, surgery was scheduled within 2 weeks. ---- Our cat is super sweet but very high anxiety. He usually grooms himself until he bleeds and hyperventilates on the way home from the vet. He needed a large canine tooth removed due to an accident (rough play with another cat), and we were worried about bringing him to a dental specialist he didn't like. Dr. Lynn is the ONLY vet that my cat has ever seen where he doesn't freak out. Her bedside manner is amazing. In fact, he came out happier after his consultation with Dr. Lynn. She is wonderful and very much cares about the emotional and physical wellbeing of the animal. I felt very reassured and calm knowing that my cat would be in good hands. The rest of the staff was also incredible. You can tell they all genuinely love animals and like working there. Communication with scheduling and paperwork was the absolute best. I have nothing but great things to say about the team. I was also quoted a reasonable amount for my cat's procedure. I did not feel like I was being ripped off. ---- Call the office to schedule a consultation appointment. If they are swamped, your consultation will be scheduled further away but you can request to be placed on the waitlist to be contacted earlier if an unexpected cancellation on their end occurs. FYI- Dr. Lynn and her team shares the unit with Animal Dermatology Clinic. Just let the front desk know you are there for dental work/Dr. Lynn. During the consultation, they will bring your pet to the back to examine, and Dr. Lynn will come back out to discuss in full detail the issues that need to be addressed. She was able to answer all questions we had and eased our anxiety about the situation. After that, your pet is returned to you. Then you will receive an email with a price quote and detailed breakdown of all costs for the procedure needed. If you are ok with this quote, you then call the office again to set an appointment for the procedure you need. The appointment is scheduled usually within 2 weeks. A few days before the procedure, they will contact you by phone and email to give you instructions to prep your pet for the upcoming procedure. When you drop off your pet from the procedure, they will also quote you a loose estimate for pick up time. They will call you when your pet is finally ready for pick up. ---- At no point did we ever feel pressured or ignored. I highly recommend Advance Veterinary Dentistry. AVD was the best choice out of a few different veterinarians I took a look at. Although a bit more expensive than some, this clinic did its due diligence on explaining every detail, procedure and follow up. We should have left a review when we first saw Dr. Lynn a couple of years ago. We had taken our cat to his primary vet for a regular checkup when they looked into his mouth and told us that it looked like he had cracked his tooth / line of blood at gum line... but sent us home to wait for their cleaning appt / x-rays that was about 2 months away? No. I searched online until I specifically found a dentist, I found Dr. Lynn. Marlene scheduled us almost immediately. Our first meeting with Dr. Lynn, we instantly knew she was someone you could trust. She let us know immediately that our cat was not having a crisis, most likely food dye (eye roll to primary vet... never again for specialty work). Edited: I had a poor experience with AVD. -they double booked my dog's surgery after I paid them 3 times what my vet charges for labs because AVD told me they could get him in that week. -they failed to realize they double booked my dog until less than 24 hours before the surgery. -their receptionist was exceptionally rude on the phone about rescheduling even when it was their error. After later speaking with the practice manager, he apologized for the receptionist's behavior. -it ended up costing over $1000 more than I was quoted. I was quoted $1400 and it ended up at $2500. I was told they would likely pull 3-5 teeth and they ended up pulling 9. With the consult, it cost around $3000. I am sure you can find somewhere cheaper for what seems like a routine procedure. -for drop off, my partner experienced the same attitude that I had experienced on the phone. Seems like an employee that needs some customer service training. -For pickup, I was told "around 5 PM." I showed up at 4:45 PM. I waited more than 30 minutes--past the pickup time-- and no one from the dentistry team came to let me know what was going on. Overall, the staff has obvious issues and the pricing was through the roof. I wouldn't recommend this place and will probably take my other dogs elsewhere. For the price, I would expect great service, which is the opposite of what I received. read more

I took my dog in a little over a year ago to see Dr. Lynn. My dog had a few cracked teeth. My regular vet at the time said he could extract them all, but it was important to me to try to save any teeth that could be saved, so I took him to see Dr. Lynn. Dr. Lynn was great with my dog, thoroughly explained what she was able to see (they took great close up photos of the mouth during the initial exam), and explained her goals for the dental procedure. She was able to save a couple of the teeth and only needed to extract one. My dog's extraction area healed nicely. The procedure was more than what I would have paid for the extractions with the regular vet, but if you want specialty care and are looking for someone who can help save your dog's teeth, I recommend Dr. Lynn. Dr Lynn just finished cleaning my Lab, Boo's teeth. Beautiful job done! The entire office was clean, and sweet smelling... staff was friendly, efficient, and took great care of him while he was there. Admonishments to keep brushing his teeth and a syrupy medication to squirt on his upper gums, to help with gingivitis and tartar, and we were happily out of there! I took my dog here for his first teeth cleaning. If you have a younger dog with no particular health or dental problems, then I would recommend just going to a regular vet for teeth cleanings. This is place is quite pricey because it's not a regular vet- it's a specialist, like the equivalent of an endodontist rather than a regular dentist. But if you have a special needs dog or a dog with real dental problems, and you can afford it, I would highly recommend this place. I have an extremely fearful 8.5 year-old dog who has a very sensitive system and reacts badly to a lot of medications and food. I was concerned he would not fair well under anesthesia. Dr. Lynn and her staff are patient and kind, and they take the time to explain things before, after, and even during the procedure. My dog got the individual attention he needed: they sprayed calming spray on his favorite dog toy while we were waiting for the meds to kick in, they let me stay with him until they put him under, they called me 3 times during the procedure to give updates, and they let me bring in his dog bed for his comfort. Dr. Lynn explained the X-rays afterwards and emailed to check in on him after I took him home. It was expensive- about $300 for the initial appointment and blood tests, and about $1100 for the cleaning and X-rays (including sealing a couple of teeth that were chipped). Most of the cost is for the anesthesia process- he was under anesthesia for about 1.5 hours because he had some tricky-to-clean teeth, though it's usually only an hour. I was extremely nervous about putting my dog through this process, so for me the peace of mind was worth it. Dr. Lynn is a real dental expert. Highly recommended. read more

Bringing in your elderly dog for a teeth cleaning can be a very dangerous and I was nervous to bring my soon to be 10 year old dog in. I looked online in my area and couldn't really find a place that I can trust. Then I came across Advanced Veterinary Dentistry after talking to my sister, who is a vet herself in the UK. She assured me that AVD is the only place she would allow me to bring my dog in for a dental. Plus, AVD is one of the few place that has digital x-ray imaging. From the beginning, I was very impressed with the consultation with Dr. Lynn. She explained the whole dental process thoroughly and made me feel comfortable about the procedure. I was so impressed that I made the appointment for the actual procedure right on the spot. About 2 weeks later, I returned to AVD and handed over Goody to them. Good, came back with 3 less teeth and a mouth-full of porcelain white teeth. The procedure went very well and Goody was able to eat food that same night. I ended up spending about $1500 which include the dental and getting 3 back teeth pulled out but I don't regret it. I'm sure I could of gone somewhere cheaper, but you get what you pay for, right? First I had a consultation at a veterinarian dentist out East which made me very uncomfortable. I felt rushed and pressured, and they gave me a quote with at least 20 line items which came out to an obscene total price. I decided to get a second opinion and came to Advanced Veterinary Dentistry. Dr. Lynn was so patient and sweet and took her time explaining all of my options. My dog's molar was chipped and since my dog is only 6, I wanted to try to save the tooth. In that case, she explained that it could be minor enough where we could just get it filled or a root canal. I liked that Dr. Lynn gave me several options (whereas the first place just presented the most expensive option. Not only that, but the first place's most expensive option was twice the price of Dr. Lynn's most expensive option). My dog has finished the procedure and is recovering nicely. Did a wonderful job on my rescued dog who had damaged teeth. Very clear, concise communication. Very organized. Compassionate care.

Our rescue Dobie had some serious funk going on in his mouth since the day we brought him home. After poking around and finding a little ulcer in his gums we consulted our vet about it. Long story short we were referred to Advanced Veterinary Dentistry and our guy ended up needing to undergo surgery to try and address the gum issue. Once they got a better idea of what was going on, he ultimately ended up needing a portion of his hard pallet near his gum cut away and two teeth pulled. While I admit I choked at the cost, I knew the surgery needed to be done. It definitely helped knowing he got real top tier care. He was sent home with pain killers and Dr Lynn herself called to check in on how he was doing on several occasions during his aftercare. It seems like a rare thing to find such caring service. The concern for him was genuine. We came back for weekly checkups for awhile so we could keep an eye on his stitches and make sure the gum was healing correctly. Even after a couple weeks when he somehow managed to rip out EVERY one of his stitches Dr Lynn was great in offering us informed options on how we could proceed. We were very lucky that he'd done enough healing that we were able to take a wait and see option to avoid additional cost... I reaaaally appreciate that option was offered. Thank you Dr Lynn! So my two cents on AVD? Dr Lynn and Stacy are great. Hands down. They turned what I thought was just a reserved, quiet, older dog into a goofy, happy and now obviously pain free boy. They worked a miracle on him, there is no other way to put it. But even though he was in so much pain, they were able to get tail wags out of him at his initial appointments with treats and their great dog friendly demeanor. My only regret is that we didn't take him to see Dr Lynn sooner. I don't care if it sounds cliche, its true.They fixed my dog and gave him back his quality of life. So my final report card for AVD? They are Class acts and professionals all the way. I highly recommend if you're animal is in need of a dental specialist. Again... thank you so much for fixing our goof ball! read more
