Thank God for Dr. Grote. Our dog was dying of advanced cancer and I touched base with the doctor about a week before his services were needed just in case, when we needed it, our regular Vet's office was closed. The day our dog could no longer stand the pain, I called our Vet's office; they'd been treating our dog for the cancer. But when we called and said it was time to put our dog down, they said they were too busy and I should find another Vet office! Can you believe that?! So you know, that was at VCA Foothill Vet Clinic. So glad I spent thousands of dollars over 10 years at their offices to receive such horrible, heartless service. In fact, the woman on the phone hung up on my GF after saying, "Find another vet"! So glad I'd reached out the week before to Dr. Grote. He was here in 30 minutes... I've sadly had to euthanize a lot of dogs in my life so I can tell you that it was never as peaceful and easy as Dr. Grote made it. He really did deliver peace to our pup... Thanks again, Dr. Grote.

    Saying goodbye Flo

I want to thank Dr. J. Grote for his service. He was professional and made us feel comfortable, explaining all the details as he went along with the process of placing my beloved cat to sleep(euthanasia). This was one of the most difficult choices that I had to make. I'm just glad that my cat, Flo left us very peacefully on Easter Sunday. She is no longer here, but for ever in my heart. Thank You! I'll most definitely recommend it for those who need the service at home.

Some of the vets are good, others not so much. We finally decided to switch to a new practice after experiencing enough errors and lapses in care to realize our dogs are not safe receiving care at Vet Villa. I strongly recommend avoiding Vet Villa. 1) Vet Villa prescribed Carprofen flavored tablets to our dog for a painful condition. We were not instructed to keep the bottle far out of reach. The dog found the pill bottle, chewed through the plastic, ate all the pills and suffered an accidental overdose. This led to 2 emergency vet visits, gastrointestinal toxicity that kept us up all night for 5 nights, and large out of pocket costs. But we are glad our dog is still alive. The emergency vet told us they always counsel pet parents to keep this medication bottle far away from the pet, and that they have seen multiple similar overdoses. Vet Villa did not acknowledge my feedback to change their counseling practices to prevent this from happening to others in the future. 2) A skin biopsy was performed in a completely inappropriate fashion by a veterinarian who acted as if she had never evaluated a skin lesion before. I can speak to this because I am a practicing dermatologist. The vet's approach as she examined reminded me of a first year medical student evaluating a condition for the first time. I did not contradict the vet's recommendation and gave it a chance. After all, I am a human doctor, what do I know about veterinary care. As expected, the results returned inconclusive due to the incorrect sampling method. The out of pocket cost was significant. 3) Bloodwork was lost and had to be re-drawn -- no explanation for why it was lost. 4) The practice's own pharmacy does not share prescription records with the office. I was asked in a very accusatory way to provide proof of a prescription that had been continuously refilled by Vet Villa using their own pharmacy for several years.

Unfortunately, our experience left a very poor & unprofessional first impression. AFTER ALL WE ARE PAYING FOR A SERVICE!! Upon arrival, we encountered a sign at the front desk that was extremely condescending and immediately gave the impression of a business more interested in enforcing rules than treating patients with respect. There is a 10-minute grace period that is not clearly communicated beforehand, and if you are even slightly late, the clinic threatens to cancel your appointment and charge a late fee. We were only about five minutes late due to a long line and parking delays, yet we were told our appointment was canceled and a late fee would be applied. The staff at the front desk were dismissive and RUDE AF!!!! , particularly one woman who seemed to enjoy asserting power over patients. She even hung up abruptly on a caller saying, "I'll call you back, I'm busy." When we requested to speak to the manager, the response was only slightly better, still condescending, and we were reprimanded for explaining the situation. It felt very much like being treated as children rather than valued clients. For a clinic that presumably cares for animals, this lack of empathy, patience, and basic courtesy was courtesy was shocking. If you're treating your HIGH PAYING CLIENTS THIS BAD!? HOW ARE YOU TREATING OUR BELOVED ANIMALS? YIKES. The behavior at the front desk, combined with the aggressive sign, makes it very difficult to feel comfortable or welcome. We hope the owners and doctor are made aware of this, as staff attitude can seriously affect a clinic's reputation and patient loyalty. We are reconsidering whether to continue using this clinic and strongly encourage owners particularly more than poor management to retrain front desk staff on professionalism and compassion. Patients who spend significant amounts on pet care deserve to be treated with respect and understanding (especially during their first visit) Once this behavior is put on social platforms such as Yelp, Google. Even tik tok you will suffer greatly by allowing your front desk to abuse your clientele? What an absolute embarrassment. Take your disgusting signs down before you go viral.

I paid at the end, the receptionist called the team to confirm nothing else was needed on my end, then I left. The next day, I was notified that they forgot to charge me an additional fee from USDA, and was told that had I responded to Rosey's messages prior to our appointment "I would have known that". I triple checked our text chain, phone log, emails, and even PetDesk - none of which have anything from Rosey before our appointment on 3/3. Naturally, I questioned the additional charge (there was already a USDA fee that I paid for on the original invoice) and mentioned that I had no correspondence from Rosey leading up to the appointment. I received such a condescending and accusatory email back from her and was essentially told she would not help me in the future. I'm still waiting to connect with management and share screenshots showing that Rosey never reached out to me before our appointment. My leopard gecko had developed a small wound in her mouth that most likely had come from her injuring herself with her feeding tongs a couple nights before. I called 15 other locations before I landed here. Most other places either did not have openings anytime soon or no longer took in reptiles. So I was incredibly happy to hear that this location could see us asap & welcomed exotic pets. Dr. Maryam Alemzadeh was incredibly helpful & informative. It was very clear to me early on that she was familiar with reptile care. She was able to handle my gecko with care & removed what appeared to be an abscess in my geckos mouth. As a result, there was a very tiny hole left behind in my geckos mouth. Dr. Maryam said she was not worried about it as she believed my gecko could recover on her own in a week. She eased my concerns about my gecko needing antibiotics as she felt she didn't want to overwhelm my small reptile with medication & my gecko appeared generally healthy otherwise. However, she did say if the lump came back and/or my gecko was not getting better, to give her a call & she would put in the order for medication. Conclusion: -Staff: Friendly, super quick, & asked so many questions to get an idea of my reptiles enclosure, diet, & behavior to relay to the vet. -Veterinarian: Amazing! I could tell she knew her reptile stuff & eased my concerns. Even went the extra step to point out an issue with my geckos eye & gave me recommendations for veterinary ophthalmologists in the area. -Cost: $150 for the office visit, reasonable as I was quoted a higher price somewhere else. -Overall Impression: My leopard gecko appears to have fully recovered on her own! I would definitely recommend this place for urgent care to anyone who has small pets, especially reptiles!

The rescue had called ahead with the details and I gave them the dog, but they then ignored me for two hours. The receptionist was extremely rude and condescending and would not let me talk to anyone about the situation. I begged for two hours to talk to the vet, and she kept treating me like I was wasting her time. In the meantime, my foster was in a crate in the back of the building. I finally got to talk to a vet on the phone after the two-hour wait, and she told me "Ok, we'll put her to sleep"!! I was agonized and told her that I was supposed to be with the dog during this process. At this point, I had been weeping for two hours and just wanted to hold my foster. Another 45 minutes went by, and I was told to meet them outside the back of the building. While I was sitting there, I could hear employees in the back room laughing and making fun of clients. Rats were running back and forth across the fence. It was dark when the process finally happened, and I was able to go home. It was absolutely the worst experience at a veterinary hospital in my years of fostering. I wrote a letter detailing the ordeal to the vet manager. He is very knowledgeable and takes his time to explain things to you. I don't feel rushed when I'm talking to him. Other vets I've talked to, I feel that they just want to give my pets treatment, and want me to leave asap so they can get to the next patient/$$$ in their pockets. I did not feel this at SGAH. My cat was in for surgery, and after I dropped her off at 8:00 AM, I didn't hear back all day, even past their closing time of 6:00 PM. I was worried that something may have gone wrong. I received a call a couple of hours after they closed, telling me that they decided to perform the surgery on my cat at the very end of the day, so Dr. K can make sure he is not rushed, and doesn't miss anything. Unfortunately, he said my cat's vitals were dropping during the surgery, and he had to close up my cat asap. He got a biopsy of the liver, which was the primary goal, but he also wanted to check out other things, like the gallbladder, while he was in there, but he didn't have enough time since my cat's vitals were dropping during surgery. I'm glad that my cat survived the surgery. I feel that if my other vet performed this surgery, my cat would not have made it out alive. Dr. K was at SGAH performing surgery on my cat a couple of hours past their closing time (even some of his staff were there until 8:30 PM! when I picked up my cat).
