I've had Chase for 6 years so you know we've had a few incidents before and been to quite a few veterinarians prior. None of them can even compare to her. I'm so grateful to have found this vet. The staff appear professional, but the entire experience felt like a slow, calculated attempt to upsell me on every possible test--most of which had nothing to do with the reason I came in. My regular vet referred me here because it was close to home, and my cat needed a partial ear amputation due to skin cancer. All I wanted was a quote. Instead, the doctor refused to give any estimate until I completed a list of "recommended" diagnostics. Stage 1: Bloodwork -- nearly $700. Then suddenly my cat "had a heart murmur," and I was told anesthesia could kill him unless I pursued more testing. Stage 2: Full-body X‑rays + EKG -- another $600. Results came back normal. Great. But then came the next push: a heart ultrasound, because "X‑rays can't show everything." At this point, I had to ask myself: Do I even have a real choice? If the ultrasound confirmed a murmur, I'd be stuck in a no‑win situation: risk anesthesia or let the cancer spread. It felt like a manufactured dilemma designed to pressure me into more procedures. The doctor even guilt‑tripped me with, "If it were my pet, I'd do the ultrasound." That was the moment I realized how manipulative this was becoming. By now I'd spent over $1,300, and the ultrasound alone was quoted at $450-$600. Finally, after all of this, I got the surgery estimate: $2,200-$2,700 for a small ear amputation (see pictures) The breakdown was absurd--nickel‑and‑diming for every tiny item imaginable. Friends urged me to get a second opinion. So I went to an animal hospital on Figueroa. That doctor listened to my cat's heart twice and confidently said there was no murmur at all. He immediately offered to perform the surgery and gave me the price on the spot. $500. Total. Including overnight stay, biopsy, and medication. I was stunned. And furious. After being told my cat had a heart murmur, after being pushed into unnecessary tests ($1,700), after being quoted thousands ($3,000 plus) for a basic procedure... another vet told me the exact opposite and charged a fraction of the price. Mind you this was the price 7 years ago. I walked away feeling completely misled. Fellow Yelpers, be forewarned: don't let friendly interactions fool you.

They are not my personal vet, and will never be. They serviced dogs that I fostered through a reputable agency. The animal that I brought in was a hospice foster that was in my home for over a year, and I was told I could hold her while she was euthanized. The rescue had called ahead with the details and I gave them the dog, but they then ignored me for two hours. The receptionist was extremely rude and condescending and would not let me talk to anyone about the situation. I begged for two hours to talk to the vet, and she kept treating me like I was wasting her time. In the meantime, my foster was in a crate in the back of the building. I finally got to talk to a vet on the phone after the two-hour wait, and she told me "Ok, we'll put her to sleep"!! I was agonized and told her that I was supposed to be with the dog during this process. At this point, I had been weeping for two hours and just wanted to hold my foster. Another 45 minutes went by, and I was told to meet them outside the back of the building. While I was sitting there, I could hear employees in the back room laughing and making fun of clients. Rats were running back and forth across the fence. It was dark when the process finally happened, and I was able to go home. It was absolutely the worst experience at a veterinary hospital in my years of fostering. I wrote a letter detailing the ordeal to the vet manager. The entire staff was so accommodating, they knew I was traveling quite a distance for this procedure since its still so new. They prioritized Courage and I was able to pick him up well before the scheduled pick up time so I could handle the long drive back. Christine was also awesome, she gave me text updates the entire time he was pre and post operation. Courage is doing amazing. The scaring is so minimal you can barely tell he got a Vasectomy. He's 50/50 with people that he likes and can get aggressive at times but not with Dr.Cho. He loved Dr.Cho! I called the day before and got an appointment the next morning. Once I got to the office, they put us straight into the room. There was minimal wait time which was appreciated and surprising! Dr.Cho knew the diagnosis right away and gave us one medicine drops and one cleaning solution. Also to my surprise, it was only $147 for the check-up and medicine. I'm used to vet offices up-charging during vulnerable times like these but not here. They genuinely care for your pets and also very efficient as well. I asked Dr.Cho to teach me how to clean his ears properly. We did it everyday for 10 days then had a quick follow-up appointment which showed great improvement. My dog no longer scratches from flare ups anymore! Now I clean and use the medicine drops once every two weeks. The next steps for our pet were based on a logical and controlled manner instead of reactive and jumping into surgery. We sincerely appreciate that and it aligned with our approach if we were professionals. My only complaint is that you cannot just call directly; the calls are routed to a centralized call center. When I needed to speak with somebody, the message was relayed and returned within a day or so, but just a warning for anyone that experiences this frustration. What stayed with me after leaving wasn't just the inconsistency or the dismissiveness, it was the question I couldn't shake: Would I have been afforded more grace today if I looked different walking through that door? It's Juneteenth. The irony is not lost on me. Vetco, do better.
