    I've left another review but I wanted to give an update. We, after a harrowing 5 weeks had to help our dearest sweet CiCi cross over the rainbow ridge. The harrowing part had zero to do with this particular VCA hospital (who by the way we had been coming to when they were named foothill veterinary clinic before they joined the VCA company.) In any case, all the vets there, Dr. Howes, Dr. Virgen and Dr. Compton have all been beyond excellent, beyond wonderful and so kind and so considerate. As is all of the staff (and I do mean ALL) . I've never had any attitude or any kind of bad exchanges with any of the receptionist staff or the nurses or techs. Everyone has always been consistently wonderful and we have been going there since I think around 2008. Dealing with what CiCi had (carcinomatosis) was an awful thing to go through, but Dr Compton especially at this particular time went well above and beyond. We had to do multiple abdominal taps to keep her comfortable over the weeks and she was always very careful not to take too much so that she wouldn't crash afterwards. With Dr. Compton's care as well as the help of Dr. Howe and Dr. Virgen we were able to gain precious time with our girl before the time came that we had no choice but to say goodbye. Any time we took CiCi, there was never any panic in the carrier or even while she was at the vet. I do truly believe she felt safe and cared for, even during exams and procedures. Kind doctors and techs with loving hands and a tender touch. That final process of putting CiCi to sleep was obviously very emotional and painful for us but Dr Compton and her tech were so loving, kind and so gentle with us and of course with our frail CiCi, and she passed peacefully and calmly with her eyes looking up to the heavens. We are forever grateful for this vet and Dr Compton, Dr Howes and everyone there. They even give a care package to help deal with the grief after losing your most loved pet. Truly... they go above and beyond. Thank you all for being there for CiCi and all our Abbys thru the years. I cannot recommend this vet highly enough. When the time comes for getting another animal, no question we will be coming here.

    The staff is all kind and down to earth. They are knowledgeable and treat each dog unique. I took my senior dog and puppy, and Dr Compton was able to meet both dogs' needs thoroughly and holistically. I switched vets from another and couldn't be happier. Appointment scheduling and communication is what sets this vet apart from others I've used. Pricing is on par if not better than near by

    I've been here twice so far and both times have been amazing! My cat saw Dr. Fisher the first time, and she was very kind and took the time to explain everything to me, since I'm a first-time pet owner. Today I saw Dr. Loo and she was also so sweet and caring. I'm a very anxious person and have a hard time trusting others with my pet's care, but I feel very comfortable and confident here. I also struggle to trim my cat's nails, but they not only trimmed his but took the time to show me how to do it myself after asking if I wanted to learn! I would note though-- my friend had a poor experience with one of the male doctors (I believe David?), but I can recommend either Dr. Fisher or Dr. Loo with full confidence! I could really tell they genuinely cared about my cat's health from the get-go.

    We have been bringing our pets to this location for a few years. I have always been slightly unhappy with the experiences here, but they are conveniently located for us and most of their reviews are good, so I thought it was a "me" issue. Their "bedside" manner is not good, and I do not like that they remove my pet from the room to do whatever voodoo they do in the back. I know the yada yada regarding some owners not being able to tolerate what is being done for their pets, but I am not one of those people and think giving the owners the option of whether or not they would like to keep their pets within their sights would be a great compromise. Today, my 8-pound chihuahua got ahold of an ant trap. I got it from him pretty quickly, but I was concerned about the toxicity of the ingredients. I called them immediately to ask for signs I should look for that might indicate he ingested a troublesome amount. The gentleman on the other end of the line would not answer my question but instead gave me the number for the Animal Poison Control. I called them, but they want $95 to answer a question. I called back the VCA and got the same person on the line; needless to say, I was not the nicest person. I asked him if he was aware that this number charged a fee to answer a question they, as the place where I pay an ungodly amount of money to care for my pet, should be able to answer. I asked him why they would do that instead of transferring me to someone with the relevant knowledge or training the people to work there to answer emergency questions. I feel this indicates a money-over-care problem. I am very disappointed, but sadly, not surprised.

    AVOID DR RICKARD AT ALL COSTS We had to ask for our dogs records for vaccines at another location. Looking at the records, Dr. Rickard has commented negative things on our dogs records when we denied $2000 blood work on our dog. Saying we were going to do nothing and that she had to CONVINCE us to take the medications home- which is far from the truth. My dog is perfectly fine without the added unnecessary expense and is perfectly healthy by the way. It is great to realize after a few months how these people feel about you as an owner. Really appalled with the behavior and unprofessional comments by this doctor.

They're patient, caring, and truly understand her needs. They've even found simple ways to help her feel safe, like bundling her in a blanket and covering her eyes during shots. Chloe needed yearly dental surgeries due to years of neglect, but thanks to Dr. Maynard and now Dr. Samuelson, her health has improved so much--her most recent procedure didn't require a single tooth extraction. They also caught a mammary mass early that turned out to be cancerous, and because it was removed quickly, it was completely eliminated. The entire team--including virtual care--is responsive, supportive, and always goes the extra mile, even following up after ER visits. As a first-time dog mom, I'm so grateful for the care they've given Chloe over the years.

Some of the vets are good, others not so much. We finally decided to switch to a new practice after experiencing enough errors and lapses in care to realize our dogs are not safe receiving care at Vet Villa. I strongly recommend avoiding Vet Villa. 1) Vet Villa prescribed Carprofen flavored tablets to our dog for a painful condition. We were not instructed to keep the bottle far out of reach. The dog found the pill bottle, chewed through the plastic, ate all the pills and suffered an accidental overdose. This led to 2 emergency vet visits, gastrointestinal toxicity that kept us up all night for 5 nights, and large out of pocket costs. But we are glad our dog is still alive. The emergency vet told us they always counsel pet parents to keep this medication bottle far away from the pet, and that they have seen multiple similar overdoses. Vet Villa did not acknowledge my feedback to change their counseling practices to prevent this from happening to others in the future. 2) A skin biopsy was performed in a completely inappropriate fashion by a veterinarian who acted as if she had never evaluated a skin lesion before. I can speak to this because I am a practicing dermatologist. The vet's approach as she examined reminded me of a first year medical student evaluating a condition for the first time. I did not contradict the vet's recommendation and gave it a chance. After all, I am a human doctor, what do I know about veterinary care. As expected, the results returned inconclusive due to the incorrect sampling method. The out of pocket cost was significant. 3) Bloodwork was lost and had to be re-drawn -- no explanation for why it was lost. 4) The practice's own pharmacy does not share prescription records with the office. I was asked in a very accusatory way to provide proof of a prescription that had been continuously refilled by Vet Villa using their own pharmacy for several years.

Our beloved dog died and they were so sympathetic. They sent us a condolence card right after drop off. The price was reasonable, the turn around time prompt and the pickup material was so touching. Everything from canvas bag to the remains, the card, the paw print - it was perfect. They gave us plenty of time to say goodbye at drop off. They even brought her back to us on a blanket. On pickup we arrive right as they were closing but they waiting a few minutes after so as to not have to wait another day. We plan to bring our other three doggies for checkups as our experience was so positive. The whole atmosphere inside is lovely, from their x-mas countdown, the drawings on the bulletin board, the exam rooms are some of the nicest I've seen. We haven't been paid for the praise nor are we related to the business in anyway.

They are not my personal vet, and will never be. They serviced dogs that I fostered through a reputable agency. The animal that I brought in was a hospice foster that was in my home for over a year, and I was told I could hold her while she was euthanized. The rescue had called ahead with the details and I gave them the dog, but they then ignored me for two hours. The receptionist was extremely rude and condescending and would not let me talk to anyone about the situation. I begged for two hours to talk to the vet, and she kept treating me like I was wasting her time. In the meantime, my foster was in a crate in the back of the building. I finally got to talk to a vet on the phone after the two-hour wait, and she told me "Ok, we'll put her to sleep"!! I was agonized and told her that I was supposed to be with the dog during this process. At this point, I had been weeping for two hours and just wanted to hold my foster. Another 45 minutes went by, and I was told to meet them outside the back of the building. While I was sitting there, I could hear employees in the back room laughing and making fun of clients. Rats were running back and forth across the fence. It was dark when the process finally happened, and I was able to go home. It was absolutely the worst experience at a veterinary hospital in my years of fostering. I wrote a letter detailing the ordeal to the vet manager. An apology was issued to the rescue, but never to me. Having to euthanize a pet is a devastating experience. They made it ten times worse than it had to be. My heart goes out to anyone who has been treated like this by this hospital
