I was out of town when my cat was brought in for Diabetic ketoacidosis. My parents took them in to start the treatment and the nurse Lisa was sooooo helpful and kind with the whole process. I drove straight from the airport as soon as I got home and I was told by Lisa that I could come in anytime to see my cat to boost his spirits. I was waiting in a room for over an hour and was told I couldn't see my cat until a doctor came in and spoke with me, despite what Lisa had said in the past. Another nurse kept coming in and out just trying to talk money and financial plans and credit cards I could open up to help pay for the treatment. She was extremely insensitive to the fact that I just wanted to see my sick cat. I finally got to see him and discussed with Dr. Long that she hopes to see improvements the next day. The next day comes and Dr. Long goes on a spiel on how she thinks he's improved and is walking around in his cage and drinking water. I was so excited and ready to pay for another treatment right there. Luckily, My mom told me to see him before I pay for anything else. When they took me back to see him, he could barely open his eyes and hold his head up or even stand. I really would've appreciated HONESTY from the staff on his stability and chances of actually getting better. Again, THE NURSE LISA, was very kind, let me have time with my cat in a private room and was very honest with us about his recovery. Overall just wish there was more compassion and transparency with the whole process. It was really disappointing having my hopes up that my cat was getting better but In reality he looked worse than when he came in. And I did not appreciate the money hungry nurse trying to get more money out of me when I hadn't even seen my cat since he's been sick. read more

I just got the word that my beloved Afghan was hit by a car through email. I called and the receptionist immediately tried to sell me a burial package. I explained that he slipped out of the gated dog park and disappeared. Therefore, I spent the entire day placing paid ads across social media. There was no empathy for my feelings as an owner just the sales pitch. When I explained that I needed time to organize and decide , she angrily hung up the phone in my face. read more

This place does not care about animals!! all that seems to matter is what they charge you. have a very old dog - peeing "blood clots". it's obvious he has either stones phosphate/calcified or bladder cancer. arrived at 9:30 am was told to wait out side due to covid. our state is completely open. what's wrong with these people. they came out to my car to fill out paper work.!! then kept waiting. granted a few severely ill animals came after. did not waiting for those animal's to be see 1st. understand triage. they made this old man wait then took his 17 yr. old cat inside. 45 min. later a tech [god forbid the vet came out herself ] comes out to tell him his cat had to stay for 3 days due to kidney failure & he needs to pay $1200.00 deposit before they do anything. he wasn't even aloud to say good bye to his cat. the tech stated she would call him tomorrow. he walked away sad & confused. this so called vet doesn't care care about animal or their owners. if she is so afraid of getting covid she should lock herself up. zero compassion. that's what i call a conspiracy theorist. 99.9% survival rate if you get covid. more people. have probably will die from the vaccination!! which includes = rna nano technology it works like genetic scissors to modify your dna!! people need to research for yourselves. needless to say came home with my dog & will take him to his real veterinarian who truely cares about all animals & their owners. by the way his name is Mark Salzburg in ormond beach Salzburg Animal Hospital. he is a very intelligent & compassionate veterinarian read more

Not happy with the service from this veterinarian tonight. I brought my German Shepherd here after he tied with my other female dog. To sum things up he had several complications which ended us up here. The vet gave him stitches and sent him home. As soon as we got home his stitches popped out. We called this vet immediately after and they wanted to charge us another $400 to fix it. I'm just disappointed, when you pay a lot for a solution and it doesn't work you would expect the company to fix it. This place is not here to assist you, they just want your MONEY... In addition, the nurse is worth mentioning about. She was condescending and rude. Not someone you would expect working at an emergency vet. Regardless, not to happy about the $400 I've spent here and I probably should have went elsewhere. read more

Amazing emergency vet! Yes, there may be a wait, but it is because they prioritize emergencies first. They took great care of my dog and their communication was above and beyond. They called me 30 minutes after I left just to let me know the catheter was placed and IVs had been started. Please keep in mind that this is an emergency vet who is open mainly at night because they are trying to be available when other vets are not. They are not meant to be a primary vet. Doctors leave at 8am and vet techs monitor your dog during the day (if they were hospitalized overnight) with a doctor being only a 5 minute drive away incase something were to happen. Do not get frustrated when you cannot take your animal here in the middle of the day. Nick (vet tech) was absolutely amazing. I could hear him talking to my dog telling her how beautiful she is and that she was going to be ok. I cannot remember the doctor's name, but she was great as well! read more

My 75 yr old mother made a tough decision today to put her 18 yr old, very ill, cat to sleep today. Since her normal vet was closed she took her cat here. I received a call from my mother who was hysterically crying because the staff here tried to convince her to pump money into an old,ill, dying cat-- the whole time making my mother feel guilty about her decision. I have never heard my mother cry like this and how dare these people make her feel guilty of this decision which as we know is one of the hardest decisions people can make since pets are like family. after months of weighing the pros and cons of putting her beloved cat to sleep --to finally make that decision today and be treated like this is unacceptable. Called to get my 11 year old Aussie in to the vet because she was having breathing issue and a terrible chocking cough all through the night! Called at 4:15am and was told they would not see her and that we could bring her in at 9 am! Not sure they understand the meaning of emergency pet clinic! Our dog had a ruptured anal sac at night and we went to Veterinary Emergency Center of East Volusia and they were amazing! They looked at our dog right away and cleaned and sterilized the ruptured sac. They were so caring, responsive and helpful! We snowbird to New Smyrna in the winter from Seattle and we could not believe how quickly they took our dog in, diagnosed the problem, treated it and had us on our way back to New Smyrna. I was extremely disappointed. I took my doggie Cookie with a potential cornea scratch. Got there at 5:55 PM because they open at 6 PM. Signed in. Politely asked as to how long? Answer: all depends on how many animals are brought in. I asked if it is possible to check Cookie over and let me know so I can take her in the car and wait. The woman with all colored hair (no people skill, by the way ) told me "oh yes, they will check her vitals and she will let me know". This went on every 10 to 15 minutes and the dog was not checked. I sat in the car till 6:55 PM (1 hours). Went back to check - they still did not attend to my doggie. They said " She's stable". I could have told them that too. That means they didn't check her vitals/and/or her eye. This is an emergency to me because I am the human parent of the four legged child - my dog. I asked for my dog to be given back to me because they didn't attend to her. I told them that I will right a bad review, the folks behind the partition stated " go ahead". To me, it means they don't care!!!! That means they don't care about your pet!!!! Shame on them. As to the Vets referring us to this clinic, shame on them also. read more

On Sat Memorial Day weekend 5/28/2022 my 13 year old Maltese was in distress , I called took him in to their new location in the Sunshine Plaza and the entire staff was professional and caring . A tumor had burst and I was with the Vet , Dr Maggie Carlson within 10 minutes of arrival , sadly we had to euthanize Moose but it was a peaceful ending, for sure they have to triage as pets come in . We have always had multiple pets at one time and over the last 45 years we have lost 19 pets and we have been to way to many emergency Vets in New Orleans , D.C , Michigan and Florida most horrible service , not so this time , would highly recommend ,But hope you never have to! read more

I took my 1 year old cat there last night when I realized she could not walk straight or hold herself up. It appeared she had a brain injury with absolutely no sign of trauma. They recommended leukemia and fhiv tests along with with abiut $400 worth of other blood testes. None of which would indicate if she had a head trauma. As far as I know leukemia and fhiv does not come on all of a sudden and cause what's looks like wobbly cat syndrome. I declined those two tests and consented to full blood panal to see if her kidneys where shutting down. All of which came back negative. So they do not know what is wrong with her and said there was no way they could test her to see if she has a brain injury but they sure did want to keep piling on tests to charge me more money. I would recommend not going here. The emergency vet in Port orange on Nova Rd can treat for head trauma and charged me less money for a overnight stay read more

Absolutely love this place. Nick, Leah, and Beaver were amazing!!!! Super sweet, very attentive and communicated with me through the entire experience. Got my animal in and out quickly but still maintained an amazing level of care. My cat absolutely loved nick, as he was very caring towards him. Went as far as to say bye at the door and explain everything to us thoroughly so my cat got the best care at home as well. Leah and Beaver were great with registration and any questions, they genuinely care about the customers! Definitely worth any wait they have and absolutely will be coming back. read more

I brought my dog in because she was throwing up all day and needed to be looked at. I waited for 2 hours very patiently outside because they weren't letting people in. After 2 hours I went in and asked when they would be able to take my dog back. they finally took her and had her in a waiting cage. Waited another hour for them to finally come out and give me a very fast and brief estimate of what my dog was going to have done. I wasn't able to pay for it out of pocket without a credit card which I didn't have so I had to have my mom pay for it but I was fully paying her back I just didn't have $700 dollars on me like that. Mean less to say I was waiting for about 5 hours and paid $700 for them to not really even know what was going on, they did stop my dog from vomiting with an injection but I didn't see the vet once, have no idea what she even looked like and she just called me on the phone and was very rude with explaining things to me like I'm suppose to know what half the big words that she was saying to me were. I got there at 6pm and didn't leave until 11. Seemed like a very basic procedure for waiting that long. I will not be going back but I just wanted to warn you all how incredibly rude these people were while taking care of my family member. read more

I needed some time heal to write about this situation. I Hardly ever write reviews, but I feel its my obligation to inform the public. Please read this review in its entirety before ever bringing an animal to this "hospital" (it gets worse and worse). Note: this was 09/15/2020 around 5:30 am the girls names I were given were Nicole and Emily (or Erin). My little dog Katie, I have had for 14 years, since I was 20 years old, Woke up in the middle of the night screaming absolute bloody murder. She was terrified and having violent seizures. In my total shock and horror my brother came over to help me. We decided to rush her in the middle of the night to the only 24 hour clinic open (unless you drive to Ormond which was too far with how urgent the situation was) I called this clinic with my baby, my dog, screaming screaming out in the background and tried to talk to this EXTREMELY apathetic, cold girl. She told me not to bring the dog. They are busy. Too bad so sad attitude. REALLY just cold.. angry voice. So in my shock and despair, I got angry back and said "Are you blanking kidding me?" and she HUNG UP! LOL.. WOW. So I called back begging begging for my dogs life. For this technician, this girl who is supposed to care for your animals to please take sympathy. I said "You can hear the dog please Ma'm please. I can't let her stay in pain like this." She said "If you bring her in we will give you 2 minutes to euthanize." We pulled up with me just getting off the phone with her, my only hope was to see a doctor who would be more sympathetic than the tech I was talking to. My brother dropped me off as he had to be at work in the morning and had been up dealing with it, and I needed to think and get help for the dog. When I arrive these apathetic girls, a blond and another tech (angry I showed up, I guess) let me in and into a room and this blond girl comes in (the real nasty one) and watches the dog writhing in a seizure and says "We dont have time- doctors busy- you need to euthanize." I told her how long Ive had the dog-, 14 years, the dog is family. COLD AS ICE this little blonde. Oh I was appalled. I kept focus on my dog. And decided in my panic "Ok. Ill do it. I can't have her in pain anymore." She left to get the needles- not a word of care for me or the dog as she walked out. When she was gone.. my little Katie looked up at me, and we had a moment, and I knew it wasn't right. Wasn't her time just yet and certainly not with this girl. When she came back I told her No. SHE STORMED OUT OF THE ROOM AND SLAMMED THE DOOR and left me totally alone to find my way out of the facility. I gathered up my dog and got out of there. My grandfather was coming to pick me up and is 89 years old and got lost finding the clinic in the middle of the night. I had to stand outside waiting for around a half hour with my dogs seizures still happening intermittently. A police officer pulled up and told me the girls in the clinic called them to have me removed!! That they were getting off their shift soon and didn't want me in the parking lot!!! LOLOL. I wasn't near the door. Its a large parking lot- I wasn't really near the entrance of the building. I was waiting for my family. When the other tech came out to talk to the cop, I walked up with the cop and said "did you call the cops on me" she said 'Not me! It was her!" My dog went into a seizure and the cop apologize to me for what was happening. I left with my seizuring dog cradled in my arms. Literally seizuring in front of the cop. We waited until a real vet opened and put Katie on anti seizure and she died peacefully 2 weeks later. Had I let that evil girl kill my Katie, I would not have gotten those two weeks with her, and Katie wouldn't have had the peaceful death my sweet girl deserved. Shame on those girls. That blonde has no business working in that field. I may call the DBPR and report her license. read more

Well, my dog died. I was not called to know that she was "crashing" in the middle of the night, just hours after I drive off and left her there. She's dead now. The cremation company did a nice job of putting her in a small box and then the box in a purple organza bag. I always hated purple and the fact that she looks like an Easter basket is both funny and awful at the same time. I'm just driving around with her in the back seat of the Jeep because I don't know what to do with her. Do I think the vet did a good job? The obvious aside, I have no way to know. I am not a vet. I know that dogs die despite the best attempts to save them. She was old and it was a bad accident. But I can say for sure, I know I wasn't called. Maybe I could have held her paw or kissed her head or sang her a song or told her what a really, really good dog she was and how much I loved her just one more time before she died. But I couldn't because I wasn't there because I wasn't called. Did the vet know she might not make it through the night? If so why wasn't I told? I would have sat in the Jeep all night long in the parking lot if I knew her situation was so dire (I was not allowed inside the building because of Covid). I would have gladly sat there all night and longer. But I didn't, because I didn't know. And now my dog is dead and packaged like a macabre Easter basket the backseat of my Jeep. No, of course not all dogs can be saved. They don't live forever. But not calling someone to tell them their best buddy, their whole heart and reason for being, is about to die? Or even that they just died? What sort of heartless monster doesn't even call? My dog was not an incidental piece of trash to be discarded but you treated her that way. What do you care, you got your money. It wasn't your dog. read more

My cat had a cyst that ruptured today and he needed to have emergency surgery to close it up. As it was after normal office hours for my regular vet, I called Atlantic. Boy, was I surprised at what a great emergency clinic we have in town! They were really helpful, with a short wait time, and to top it off, it cost half of what I expected to pay. Atlantic has a terrific staff who really cares about its patient's. It doesn't get any better than this! Since, Atlantic is a regular vet during normal business hours, I will be officially making them my family veterinarian from here on out! Thanks for helping my kitty! This place is awful! I brought my cat here after he ingested laundry detergent and I could hear he was aspirating. They told me that he would be fine and sent him home on nausea meds. A few hours later I noticed he was getting worse so I called them and they said doctor was in surgery so I'd have to wait two hours but they don't think there's anything they can do. So I took him somewhere else and the new vet told me he was in fact aspirating and needed hospitalization! I'm very very disappointed in this vet and will NEVER recommend to anybody read more

I unfortunately had to take my dog there this past week. The staff was super nice and super knowledgeable. They answered every question I had. My dog was diagnosed with TCC and low platelets. She stayed one night there. I called every hour to check on her and the staff picked up every time and gave me updates. I was able to take my baby home the next day and they gave me meds to make her comfortable. She had a 50/50 chance of the meds working and unfortunately last her battle. I am very impressed of how well they tested me and my baby girl in this very hard time. I would recommend this place to anyone and definitely when the time comes for me to get another dog I will be using this veterinary office for all my dogs needs. read more

My adult son took our senior dog to this ER for a nail that had been ripped to the cuticle and hanging off. They had just opened and he waited an hour and a half then was back in the room for 3 more hours . He asked several times how much longer and the desk would say not long and was rude. When finally seen Dr. Maggie Carlson refused to give my dog a local before cutting the nail down. He was in pain and squealed. She gave no reason for not giving a local. She argued with my adult son and after would not face him when our dog squealled. The Dr also would leave the room and discuss with the office person to come in and explain things. I had my other dog have the same nail situation and that ER in Ormond gave a local and was wonderful!! Will never go here again. Reading reviews is a must. This Dr . M Carlson and office were ANYTHING BUT professional and compassionate. Don't make my mistake, make the drive to Ormond on Yonge St. Dr. Maggie Carlson you should be ashamed treating any animal that way. So sad! I called in advance and brought my dog here due to an emergency situation. He had all symptoms of acute prostatitis very suddenly and seemed to be rapidly deteriorating so I brought him to the nearest open ER clinic near my home. It took more than 10 hours for my dog to get the diagnostic testing that he required in which time I had to sit in the parking lot unable to be inside to comfort him. I saw other animals come after my dog and leave before his tests were even completed and was told it was because they were "emergency cases" and my dog was stable.. and that this was a "good thing" that he was being pushed to the back of the line. Long traumatic story short, my dog passed away the next afternoon after being hospitalized with them overnight and I'll go to my own grave wondering if he was even properly cared for. After putting him down suddenly and unexpectedly because he began to die in front of us the next day in the exam room (they called us about 30 min before he died to state that he was declining) the women in the exam room literally told my partner and I as we were weeping over his dead body that we had a $6.00 balance due. The entire experience was transactional and I have to wonder if the reason my dog didn't get the care he desperately needed was because it would have been time consuming and they had more revenue to make from taking on multiple patients after we had arrived than the $2,000 we ended up paying for what ended up being palliative care. I'm completely traumatized by this experience and worse, my best friend, companion and comforter isn't even here to comfort me through it because of it. I wouldn't recommend this vet to my worst enemy. read more

Took my dog here after waking us up screaming at 3am. Vet told us that our dog was being silly and overdramatic when in fact she was having a severe allergic reaction from her vaccinations the day prior. A situation occurred with my cat on a Sunday and I UNFORTUNATELY had to take her to the Veterinary Emergency Center of E Volusia in Port Orange. After one night and $900.00 later with no diagnosis, they just kept trying to convince me to leave her there longer and longer and more money and more money, however not doing anything. Apparently Dr. Kerri Zavota owns the Clinic and she was the one on staff Sunday night. She reminds me of a Service Technician that does not know how to diagnose. They just keep changing parts in hopes to get it right. Also, the other person Eric Noe was very sarcastic and rude. I called the next morning (Monday) to let them know I was picking my cat up and taking her to her regular Vet, Dr. Hill at Casselberry Animal Clinic. They just kept insisting that I leave her at the emergency clinic (of Course for more money) but I said no. So they said you better pick her up by 7:00am or we will charge you for another day. I arrived just before 7:00am where they continued to try and get me to leave her there. I took her Yesterday morning as soon as my regular vet opened, Dr. HILL with Casselberry Animal Hospital and after the small Amount of $105.00 she was fully diagnosed and on her way to complete recovery! That emergency clinic is nothing but a SCAM. I can't express never to take your pet there. TERRIBLE, TERRIBLE PLACE!!! read more
