I had to take my older cat in due to vomiting and general unwell, my usual vet is closed on the weekend and my cat seemed like she needed urgent care. Although I was here for several hours 12:30-6am, my cat was cared for and gently handled the whole time. They were relatively quick with the tests they ran, and everyone was knowledgable and extremely kind. They do xrays on site and are able to triage several pets at one time. There are at least 3 doctors I saw, and so many vet techs who seem to love what they do. I really appreciate all that was done for my cat. I attached my bill as well to my review. Although kind of expensive, it is worth it to have my cat be alive and well. They did give me a discount, again, they were very kind. Base visit is $180 and anything additional will be added in a quote they will show you before more care is applied to your pet. They see cats and dogs, as well as other animals and exotic animals such as birds/rabbits/bearded dragons/etc. I would definitely come back here if my cats were in distress. read more

When presenting with an urgent medical issue, a wait exceeding one hour should not be acceptable--particularly while clinic personnel remain seated, engaged in personal cell-phone conversations, and otherwise unavailable to address triage needs. In this instance, a diagnosis was issued and a charge of $1,500 proposed before a thorough physical evaluation of my dog had been completed. Subsequent examination by another veterinarian confirmed that the initial diagnosis was incorrect and that the treatment provided was inadequate. I was therefore required to return to your facility to obtain a refund. There is a clear need for more robust clinical training focused on accurate patient assessment and condition evaluation prior to the formulation of any treatment plan or financial proposal. Prioritizing proper medical evaluation over rapid billing would better serve both patients and clients. read more

I brought a bird in so maybe it's different for dogs/cats my issue is mostly with the staff my cockatiel had lost weight I knew it was serious as soon as I saw/held him but then you get there and they don't do anything that they told me other than check if they're having breathing issues (I get there's triage). My main issue is while providing vitamins and fluids one staff member out loud in the room with me questioned if the dose was too high and had to check his weight but didn't until they were done (it didn't fully click what she said until they had already finished) they also kept saying they had to try again on this side then that side (maybe that's normal but it would've been nice if that was the explained) I get that people make mistakes and I'm not blaming them necessarily but communication needs some work and cockatiels are tiny if they weren't sure or even if I misunderstood what they were talking about somehow you have to acknowledge how it sounds pause and explain or check. Another thing is my bird was flighted so they put me in I think they called it some kind of isolation room (it was quieter and the vents are blocked so he couldn't fly away) fair no big deal then at the end I was told to wait to talk to someone and the next person who came in was like annoyed I was still in there because a puppy needed the room. Another thing I get that they probably see mostly dogs/cats but if you're gonna be open for birds then you need to be prepared for birds the whole time it felt like nobody knew what to do w a bird and I wish I had trusted my gut but they're vets so I wanted to trust that. I am not blaming them for having to put my cockatiel down but aside from the fluids and vitamins did very little and possibly potentially hurt him more. I think maybe this place could be good for dogs/cats but definitely not recommended for birds. read more

I absolutely recommend you take your pet here. My friend is out of the country but she gave me written and signed legal rights to care for her cat while she was away for 3 months. She noticed on her cat cam, and when speaking to her cat sitter, her cat seemed to come down ill. I had been out of country, hence the other cat sitter. Anyway. She asked me to take her in. Of course with the timing I couldn't get her into the regular vet, but they recommended we bring her here. I felt completely heard with every concern. They listened attentively to my personal observations and took note of her health history. They told us the game plan to get her healthy again based on what kitty mama and I both thought it likely was. The blood work results, sadly, didnt match our suspicions. Unfortunately, it was cancer. The LOVING AND CARING TEAM helped me FaceTime my best friend and explained that kitty was riddled with cancer and the cancer was surrounding her organs. They couldn't even find some of the organs. This was an aggressive and fast spreading cancer. They assured kitty mama there was nothing they or the cat sitter or I could have done to prevent this. She would die in a couple days, and if we didn't act, it would become very painful for her. Not only did they give us all the time we needed, they made sure we all understood and stepped us all thru a horrible situation. The incredibly sweet hand written note, signed by all staff on duty, was the sweetest touch to a bad evening. They gave us paw prints and nose print for the kitty parents to have. There wasn't a way to get back here from Namibia in time to say goodbye. This was literally a nightmare to live, but these guys made everything the absolute best it could be. The kindness and patience they all had...I'm truly at a loss for words. It's been a couple weeks now. And I still cry because she was such a calm and sweet kitty. The biggest roundest eyes and love you could get from a cat. She was more like a teddy bear than cat. She purred while I brushed her even though she had to be miserable at this point. Words can't describe how much we appreciate everyone working on Oct 16th 2024 closing shift crew. Every. Single. One. I couldn't tell you any of their names because I loved my kitty-niece as if she was my own as well. This was a painful loss. I'm sorry I can't name you all by name. But thank you. I can't say enough great things about VEG. Specifically, Dr. Cronke. I had to rush my dog here on a weekend when he was breathing hard and shaking. The staff hospitalized him. I felt scared leaving him overnight and they offered to let me stay with him in a private room. Once we got settled in for the night, Dr Cronke came in and said she had to move my baby back out into the main room because his breathing was getting high again. Dr Cronke sat with me and my baby almost the entire night, watching him and trying everything in her power to get it to come down. The next day when we had to be transferred to UF, she sent us up with a pump, so he didn't have to be off medicine too long. A week later and he is still with us. I thought we were going to lose him. But Dr Cronke's expertise and her big heart is really what saved him. I will forever be grateful to her. I truly believe that if we had gone to another ER walk in, they would have said there was nothing they could do for him, and he would not be here today. The entire team is caring and dedicated and I will never hesitate to use them again. read more

This review is long overdue, it was just difficult for me to write. We had just moved here from California at the end of February and drove six days to get here. My big boy Charlie made the trip and I was very happy. He also has a younger sister and his other sister is my little Chihuahua. Charlie was 19 years old and had what we believed to be a cyst on his neck that he was being treated for, but it turned out to be much more. He was bleeding profusely when we took him in because the cyst had burst, and they tried in vain to save him. We ultimately had to have him put to sleep, but I got to hold him and spend time with him beforehand in a private location. They let me continue to hold him as they administered the medicine to put him to sleep. It was a very traumatic experience, but they were so compassionate and so wonderful that they made it a little bit easier for me. Since we just moved here, we had spent pretty much everything getting here and I only had a few hundred dollars in my checking account. As everyone knows this is a very costly visit and they only took $230 from me and told me that we were even. I started to cry and gave them all hugs and it made me realize that there are wonderful people out there who just want to help. Thank you so much for everything that you did for Charlie. And they even sent me his ashes in a beautiful urn and a place where I can put his picture and even gave me some of his hair. I also got his footprint made with Clay, which really touched me. Dr. Kronke, Nurse KC, and CEC Bri were the best of the best and everything my Russ needed. Russ is a rat and is also part of my 4th grade class pet community. He has been changing tiny human lives in his short, 2 years. The other day, in an instant, he was hurt by another pet and his eye was severely traumatized. With a calm and warm energy, the staff made us feel like it was going to be ok and that they cared. In the 6 hours we were there we saw them perform CPR, deliver heartbreaking news. save a bird, and so many other behind the scenes miracles. They removed his eye and allowed us to witness their magic. They made us laugh in the midst of so much sadness that it warmed my soul. I can't say enough great things about this ER vet! It's a very stressful and scary situation when your fur baby is hurt or injured. We had a Monday appt at our regular vet for a bump on our 10 week old kitten's head. But we woke up early Sunday morning at 4am to see it was a ruptured abscess. We immediately rushed her in, and we were greeted by the vet right away. It's a big open concept, so you can see all the vets and techs treating all the other animals in need. Unfortunately for my pet, I've had to make two emergency visits with him - one at midnight on a holiday and early one morning on a weekend. VEG could not have been better in caring for his needs, managing the immediate emergency, keeping me informed, ensuring his comfort (and mine), and informing my vet about the procedures they performed. Folks need to understand two things when they arrive at an emergency vet - the most serious cases go first (that may not be you), and it will cost more than your regular vet visits because of the 24/7/365 service provided. We have had to make multiple trips to VEG since January this year for our Miniature Schnauzer and therefore have dealt with multiple doctors and most all of their staff, as well as observing them spring into action when animals walked in door with severe trauma or needing CPR. They react immediately and as a team; it is amazing to observe. They are compassionate and don't hesitate to explain your choices in care. If a wait and see needs to be done they give you that option as well. In one visit, though, Bright Shadow needed stomach surgery. I chose to have them do it rather than wait because of the excellent care they had given her on previous visits. Months later her regular vet mentioned what an amazing job VEG had done on her surgery and incision! They were impressed. read more

My husband and I had to take our beagle in yesterday for testing. The staff was amazing. They were so caring. They made him and us very comfortable. They arranged a doggie bed for him on the floor and gave him a blanket. Even Doctor Rogers sat on the floor with him and cared for him. Unfortunately, our baby had tumors and there was nothing they could do for him. We had to make the hard decision to put him down. They put us in a private room, dimmed the lights and allowed us all the time we needed with our fur baby. Kasidi the tech spent time with me afterwards to make a nose and paw imprint for me. I can't say enough great things about my visit with VEG. I wish I could remember everyone's names. My 7 year old bulldog was in serious trouble while I was on vacation. I called VEG and they told me to bring him right in. They let me stay with him for 3 days. He had emergency spleen surgery. Dr Merrit had the day off but came in and helped Dr Pemberton with the surgery. Patrick took care of everything else. Everyone was so sweet to us. Every nurse, every Dr. and every staff member made sure we were comfortable. They explained everything so well and took the time to offer us drinks and snacks while we waited. I watched as they took care of other animals during the 3 days and they were equally as caring to the animal that didn't have their parents with them. I am happy that they will be building another VEG in Jacksonville soon because I will surely go back and will tell everyone about them. read more

The date was March 27 2019. This is not a very good place to go. They ripped my kitty Amu right out of my arms and prevented me from seeing her during an emergency. Amu was only a few years old. All our pet needed was emergency medicine for allergies, but none were offered. They ran the credit card to see how much credit was on it before offering any services after grabbing my kitty and taking them into a room with locked doors. Then drained their blood, killed her, and maxed the credit card out by billing $607.90. I was not even allowed into the room with my cat while she took her last precious breath She kept loudly crying for me to come. I never heard my scared kitty cry like that until I took them here. This was the worst experience for both kitty Amu and her family. Only uncaring people immediately grab a kitty out of their family's arms as soon as they walk into the building that way. I wanted her back to bring her to a caring vet. They refused to let me get her back until she was already dead. Her blood was drained it was intentionally done. Stay away from this place. read more
