I'm extremely disappointed with how this clinic handled a cat in obvious distress. When I called for help, I was told they were "booked" and to go somewhere else - no concern, no guidance But when I brought the cat in just to scan for a microchip, their attitude suddenly changed. They started pushing treatment and tried to get me to claim ownership so they could charge me. It felt very manipulative I clearly stated I was not the owner and only wanted a scan, yet they still tried to push services. There was no compassion in this matter. The staff is really helpful and I feel bad giving one star but the doctor make you come couple of times so they can charge you more. The surgeon of the clinic Dr Burger was really disrespectful, sarcastic and even laugh when we presented the situation where he messed up! Today I went into FishHawk Vet to pickup a mail in prescription for our daughter's cat ( she recently passed away at age 31 from breast cancer ) and requested few extra pills to get us through. $ 20 for 5 tabs. Mail order is charging .16 cents a tab. Love it here , we have just spent over $2000 in last 2 months in care & felt alittle disappointed that they couldn't spare a few tide me over pills . read more

I took my dog here since he was a puppy! He is now turning 7! Never really had a bad experience other than the typical pit bulls being treated differently. I was already second guessing having this surgery but I knew it was Also very needed. He had TPLO surgery this was his second time needing it. One of the drs I thought really highly of did research on him prior and thought I could have trusted him, and went through surgery. MY dog did pretty good first few days of surgery but then after week 1started loosing appetite, eyes red like infection red, his incision area I questioned after sending picture. Finally brought him in to see vet after he saw picture of an inflamed spot. upon looking first of all he barley looked at and just put him on the wrong antibiotics I later found out, and he said apply hydrocortisone cream also shouldn't been told that later to find out. Two days later I call saying it's opening up and fluids coming out and was only told to clean it wish warm cloth. A CARING VET SHOULD Have SAID COME IN WE MEED TO TAKE A CULTURE, BLOOD WORK MAKE SURE HES OK. No I was told stick to it, this was on a Friday by Monday it was an open womb. I called my surgeon he was out that day so they booked me for Tuesday morning. I come in Tuesday to be told by a tech thst he's just going to take a peek at it again and not take him to really research what's going on. I basically begged saying I've called every week with concerns something's not right. They agreed to go ahead and check him out. then I got the worst call! WELL ITS A INFECTION THE MAN SAID. well obviously is what I was thinking. I was heart broken why did this vet ignore these symptoms for weeks when I called so many times with concerns the infection should have been caught sooner and now may need plate/screw removal. I have found a wonderful Vet in Dr. Katie. I had my dogs at another clinic, but when I found Fiishhawk, we found a home. Our dogs are no longer afraid to come in the door, they march right into a very clean private room, where they are attended to by very professional, kind and sweet folks. Very upset with this center. We have been going here for at least 10 years never have had a problem. I have a diabetic cat who is seen regularly at their office. Today he was seen for being extremely hypoglycemic. When I originally called to ask if they could see him and help me they turned me away I called again crying for help and they finally agreed to see me so we rushed to their office . Once there they immediately took him to the back started an Iv and gave dextrose . The dr came in to talk me and basically told me my cat had blood clots to his brain or heart and then he should be put to sleep I was devastated and there was nothing they could do. They brought him back and started the paperwork for putting him to sleep while in there he started purring and holding his head up . I asked what test were performed for his eyesight and the tech acted irritated that I would even question it . I put him down to see if he would walk still a little unsteady but seemed better. At that point I'm second guessing myself, I asked the tech if we could have a few minutes alone to think , she rolled her eyes and aggressively walked out and slammed the door. At that moment something In my gut said take your cat and leave. That exactly what we did. We rushed him to the emergency vet where he's being treated and doing so much better. This was my very first and last visit here to get my dogs standard annual vaccinations. The vet tech that came in appeared to be new and was in the process of being trained by a more knowledgeable tech who stood back and watched the interaction. The tech in training didn't seem like she knew the questions to ask and wasn't friendly with my dog or even greet him. She asked what I was in for and told me that they needed my dogs records in order to know what they were doing. I told her that I wasn't advised to bring my records and that I wanted his annual check up and shots, as I requested when I made the appointment. She seemed to not understand that. I had to pull up the records on my email so they could review them to know what to do. Then they told me they would take my dog in the back to take his blood and get his vitals. I said I would feel more comfortable if they did it in the room with me. I said his veins were tiny and they might have trouble getting blood and I didn't want them to have fight with it. They obliged and took him in the back for weighing and then brought him back. When they initially took his blood, they put the needle in and no blood came out. She continuously pulled out and inserted the needle to try and find blood. Basically stabbing him for 5 mins. Blood was running down his leg and she had to put a bunch of the spray on his leg to clean it off. I could see the pain in my dogs eyes while she was holding him and didn't seem to know when to let go. She offered to try again on the other leg, like I told her in the first place she might have to do, or have the vet do it when he came in. I opted for the latter and waited for the vet. I can only imagine how they would have handled that situation if they had done it in the back and I hadn't been there watching it all. The vet came in and was very friendly, he greeted my dog warmly and even gave him plenty of treats. He proceeded to take my dogs blood sample without too much trouble. He gave him his shots and then left and that was the last I saw of him. The training tech came back and completed my visit and took my payment. She didn't offer any options around heartworm or flea medication and I had to suggest them. I decided not to go with anything because she didn't seem knowledgeable in even the products they offer. I was very thrown back by the overall experience and did not have a warm feeling at all about being there or leaving my dog in their care. I felt more rushed to get out than anything. Since they took him away from me I can't even say what vitals were actually taken since I wasn't told about anything except how much he weighed and what his test results were. Overall it wasn't a pleasant experience and I'll be going back to my previous vet. read more

We have been a client with them for almost 10 years. Recently they have a new vet Dr Berger. I urge you not to go there. We had two chihuahuas. We were told they both have heart murmurs. The youngest who is almost 10 they wanted to do a echo cardio gram and blood work before cleaning his teeth. (First time they have mentioned teeth cleaning) and my other chihuahua was around 12 years old ( he was a rescue) and was heart worm positive and under went treatment at VCF they did not request a echo cardio gram for him. Last Friday August 14 2020 he while in their care to have his teeth cleaned went into cardiac arrest and passed away under their care. We have been devastated that our happy dog is gone because of their neglect. And I really expected Dr Katie would have contacted us with condolences, but nothing. I will not be returning. read more

I had to take our dog to the vet this week because he was sick and the Veterinary Center at Fishhawk was suggested to me. I am SO glad that it was because Dr. Katie was amazing and her staff was lovely. They were kind enough to squeeze me in late on a Friday without an appointment - and they have late hours throughout the week PLUS weekend hours. Dr. Katie ran through all of the options and we agreed on a treatment. Fortunately all is well with our dog - Rita did give us a call the next day to make sure though! Between all of my family members we take a total of 6 dogs here. The staff and Dr's treat each and every one of them as if they are the most special dogs on earth. They have nice private rooms. It is very clean. We love the location, just around the corner from Fishhawk and they have very convenient hours. This is a full service vet center. read more

I would love to recommend this place for its convenient location, extended hours, its clean facility and usually smiling employees, however, I can not. As a former client and someone who believes in animal rescue, I would never go here again. For one, their prices are the highest I have encountered in the area. More importantly they are against TNR and will let you know about it. A vet is a place of business and people do not want to be dragged into the unwelcome political leanings and opinions of their vet trying to promote their own agenda. Never in good conscience could I take my beloved cats here knowing how the entire staff feels about TNR which is disappointing. Especially in an area that has so many feral cats.From my experiences, I would strongly discourage anyone from going here, there are much better options in the area. read more

We have used Dr.Katie and this office for many years. Currently we have 4 pets and spend thousands of dollars at this office. In the past there have been some awesome employees and didn't mind the expense when we felt that we were giving the best care our animals could receive. That is no longer the case. It started when we had to find a home for my grandsons little Begal. Drew was his name and he we were unable to keep him any long due to reasons that I cannot discuss. Dr. Katies office had a service where she would accept animals in need and find them homes. I was surprised when I was required to sign a document that stated that I could not ask any questions about where he went or anything that concerned him when signing him to her. But i knew that she was a compassionate and having no choice I did sign the document. It was a couple of months later that I learned that he was not there for long and that he had been kept in a crate all the time that he was there and one day he was sent to the shelter at Falkenburg where they put him down. I still have nightmares today and wonder why I could not have been allowed to question her in a week or two regarding his life. If it was necessary to put him down I would have done so at my own expense and been able to be with him during this time. I don't think that I have forgiven them regarding this treatment yet. It showed me that they had no regard for an animals life, much less one who was loved. Since this time, I still wanted to give her a chance with the animals things have gone from bad to worse. The employees who we so loved are gone and regardless of how many times we bring these animals in, animals that needed a new home, because they needed better care, the office staff refused to clip nails for less than 18.00 a dog, something they used to do when they were in for an appointment and they have been denied an appointment when they were sick, forcing us to take them to another vet to get necessary care that was urgent and no need to have them suffer longer than they had to. Today was the worse yet. Having an 8:30 am appointment the new vet, Dr. Amanda, didn't come into the waiting room until 10am and that after I had to ask how much longer as I did have to go to work today. She came in shortly after that and the rudest yet. She was condescending and uncaring vet that I have ever met. To the point that I had to leave the office with my granddog because she was trying to speak over my daughter in law who is very knowledgable and has a medical background herself. So needless to say that I do not think I can recommend anyone to this office and we are taking our dogs and our payments somewhere else. read more

We are new to the area and love our 'old' vet. Now we love our 'new vet'! Dr Anna is sensational! The clinic on the whole is very clean. Getting an appointment is easy because they are open 7 days a week which is amazing. Parking is easy. The staff are very nice and kind to our dog who is our baby and much loved member of our family. While we are still working out what is wrong with our dog I am very happy with the process of elimination we are going through and how kind and understanding Dr Anna has been throughout it all. She always returns my phone calls - often after hours which I appreciate. She has gone above and beyond and is clearly not your run of the mill vet! ZERO STARS!! She completely messed up my cats surgery. We took my cat in to get fixed. After the cat was fixed she was still going into heat..We took her back to the vet and showed them and they would just say "oh shes fine" and then drug her up so she slept for a while..they offered to do exploritory surgery but we would have to pay ourselves this would happen every month for over a year...we took my cat back to Boyette Animal Hospital where a vet there went and re-fixed my cat...they said she left in half the ovarie in. Now my cat has awful bladder infections, and ruined our brand new sofas with cat pee when she would go into heat...Every other vet we went to said it was because of Dr. Katie... AWFUL! NEVER GO HERE unless you want to have problems. Awful staff, and Dr. Katie is so RUDE. Will never take my animals back there again.. read more
