The Veteran's Beach is connected to the Memorial Park, with easy walking access. There are plenty of parking spots to fill vehicles, not too far from the parking lot in a footstep in the sand. The beach is relatively small, with little room to move around, depending on the tide. Despite that being a concern, the view all around is enjoyable. For more entertainment, there is also a playground and a climbing tower. Picnic tables and grills are scattered throughout the park. Overall, it's kept up very nicely, and I'm thrilled to see everything in great shape. Here's a reminder: there is an entrance fee for entering during the daytime. read more

Nice beach with decent shells for collecting. People were super nice and we met this kind lady who was a nurse and knew a lot about shells. She talked to my son about the different kinds. The water was nice, not too cold for first day of July. Public restrooms were open in the main building. A little bit of a walk from the beach but not too bad. I enjoyed it here. :) read more

We mainly visit Corporation Beach during our trips to cape cod but decided to give this one a try after hearing a family recommend it to us last year. It's $25 entrance fee (although I swear i saw $20 on the website), but allows access into a handful of beaches for the same day... not sure why that's useful because we aren't typically looking to beach hop during a typical day. The bathrooms weren't the cleanest, and there was no snack bar that I noticed. There's a giant area for grilling and a small playground for kids. The beach itself was just okay... more rocky than others we've visited, no hermit crabs to collect, no sandbars during low tide and a really short "kid friendly" swimming area before you're telling them to swim in closer to the shore. All in all, for the price of $25 and with Corporation being just an extra $5 for more enjoyment, I probably wouldn't return to this one. It was a beach though and we did have fun... it just doesn't take the cake for us wanting to return here. read more

Went on a beautiful Monday morning, about an hour and half drive from our place. And this is the first time my family visited a beach here in Massachusetts. Paid parking for $20 for a day which includes the other 4 beaches if you want to do beaches hopping. There's a playground for kids, picnic table & benches, grills, restrooms, bathrooms, JFK Memorial and Korean War Memorial. Just beware of the 'poop' on the grounds due to ducks and birds roaming around. The Management should come up with a plan to maintain cleanliness. read more

A shelly beach Veteran's Beach is one of the Hyannis beaches that always seems to be a bit less crowded than the other local beaches. Still can get packed on weekends in the summer but the huge parking lot doesn't seem to ever get completely filled. The price of parking during the day is twenty dollars but of course in the off season it's free. The water is very shallow and in low tide you can go out a long way before getting past your knees. Makes it a nice beach for little kids and people that don't want to be battered by huge waves. The ocean water is still pretty nippy but for some reason seems warmer than surrounding Cape Cod beaches. The beach does contain a lot of rocks but they are small and very worn and round ones so they don't really bother your feet. The beach usually has a whole beach of shells of all different kinds that are great for art projects or just to collect. On most warm days you can see a lot of small crabs scurrying around doing whatever it is crabs like to do. The park has lifeguards during the day and a little playground, decent bathrooms and a concession stand for simple food and beverages. A nice gentle beach that is a place to swim in the hot weather and walk along in the cooler weather. read more

My family has been hosting our beach day for over 20 years at this beach and this past Saturday was a total buzz kill. After driving in 3+ hours of traffic, I finally made it only to be told that I was unable to park because the people attending the regalia had parking space preference. What? There were plenty of spaces in the parking lot designated for beach goers but I was still not allowed to park there. The supervisor (young woman, brown hair) told me that my only option was to park on the grass outside the beach and risk getting a ticket or towed. On top of that she was completely rude and lacks customer service skills. My dad and one of my sisters were practically begging her to let me in to park. She gave me such a hard time about parking and had the nerve to tell my sister that she would get kicked off the beach because she's being problematic. All she kept saying was "When 10 cars leave then you can park." Finally about after a good 30 minutes of this back and forth (around 2:15PM) about 4 cars left and 6 cars entered (including mine). We paid the $20 entrance fee and parked in one of the several spaces that I saw from before that were still available. What's makes me even more angry is at 3PM the parking attendants were all off duty and parking was a free for all. WTF! In all honesty the supervisor seemed like she was on a power trip for no reason. The older guy with the glasses was very nice and much more professional and should be the supervisor. read more

Good place to take a break. Time to get out of the car & explore the spacious Park & shelly Beach. I found the John F. Kennedy Hyannis Museum, the JFK Memorial, & the Korean War Memorial particularly poignant, as I now do entering the well-maintained Veterans Memorial Park. Under the Pine Grove are Picnic Tables & Charcoal Grills. Small Playground & a scenic Beach with very shallow rippled water. Fitting that this has all the amenities for Families to comfortably spend a day visiting & playing in the sun together. Lifeguard, Restrooms, & Concessions. Parking $20. Just add Sunscreen & Enjoy! read more

Parking is $20. The sand is full of broken shells. Makes it very hard to walk on. It is right next to the Yatch Club and sometimes the kids from the club spill over to this beach and are rude. There is an ice cream truck sometimes on site but no other food. They have a restroom facility. There is not a very big area to swim as it has boats from the Yatch club in front of it. Veteran's Beach is definitely a good spot to hang out at. It is not crowded and the water is extremely warm (well in comparison to LA beaches haha). I went here during the summer and I would guess that is peak season. The parking here costs $20.00 for the whole day. There's plenty to do here. The kids can either play in the water, which is about 2 feet deep or jump around on the playground equipment. In addition, if you look in the water, you can find tons of wild life running around. I'm pretty sure I spent at least half of my day here catching random hermit crabs and trying to catch the little fish swimming around. read more

This is a great beach for families with young children!!! It's a small beach with a playground across the parking lot. We were there in late August. It wasn't crowded & we happily spent the entire day there. The water isn't deep & it's relatively flat for a long way out. Since it's essentially a harbor, the water isn't rough and was considerably warmer than at other nearby beaches. The bathrooms were big and cleaner than I expected. My children spent the afternoon catching (and releasing) hermit crabs and small fish. We even saw a few crabs scurrying about in the water. We watched the tour boats going past toward Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard. We made sandcastles. We even enjoyed a picnic lunch. read more

Veterans Beach is a nice place to visit if you're looking to barbecue and have the kiddos play on a beach as well as a playground. It's not the largest beach by any means but a good size. Lifeguards are present during the day making it safer for everyone. The picnic and playground areas are nice and clean. Parking is $15 per day so don't freak out when you get there. Weekly passes are also available. This venue is great for group outings in the summer...highly recommended. read more

Just bring a pair of water shoes and your good to go. But then again I feel like all Northeast, New England water beaches require water shoes. I mean if you are looking for white sandy beaches this isn't the area for you. This is my 2nd time coming here during my 5 day stay. I came at 2 PM knowing the parking attendants are leaving in about 2 hours and gladly pain $20. First, you get 2 visit all 5 of the Horseyard Public Beaches for the day parking pass. Second as another recent review said you can picnic and barbecue here, you have a nice playground and a clean swimmable beach. This beach has the least amount of seaweed I have seen during my stay. If you're lucky you get to park in the first lane, which I did and you are less than 200 feet from the water. I am here on a Saturday and do not feel crowded. When I was here earlier this week I parked within 500 feet from the water. Note, I was advised by the attendant that a week parking pass is $70. A great saving if you come more than 3 times and you have access to all 5 beaches that are less than a 10 min drive from each other. The other beaches are nice, but for relaxing for me and play for my daughter this is our #1 choice. BTW, the swings are big enough and strong enough to hold up my 200 pound behind and I just may go back there in a bit and watch the water from there. Right now I am laying on the beach and can see my daughter playing on the playground in between the spacious parking spaces and listen to the waves just behind my ears. read more

Horrible. Paid $20 to park and 5 minutes later an airplane flew over the beach and the life guards evacuated the beach due to "thunder". It was a clear hot day with some clouds but a storm never arrived. They told us to leave the beach and go to our car. I tried to get a refund for parking and the supervisor was rude and never gave it. So I paid $20 to park for 5 minutes and have the beach evacuated because an airplane flew over it. Great beach for kids! Lots of families and shells for little ones to collect. Beautiful relaxing views of Hyannis Harbor and great playground for when kids need a break from swimming. The JFK Memorial is just up the hill overlooking the Harbor. Beautiful spot. They also have a nice picnic area with charcoal grills. Nice clean restrooms, just a short walk from the beach. read more

My parents brought us here nearly every Saturday or Sunday when we were growing up in the 60s. We would drive down old Rte 3 to 28 to the big bridge as we all called it, in a caravan of cars containing nearly all aunts uncles and cousins in our large Italian family. I recall it cost 50 cents to park all day in the pine Grove picnic area with those big grills....the price went up to $1.50 by the time we stopped going as the older cousins were getting married and having their own families. Lots of happy family times over many years. Only the concession bar was off limits to us as the old world Italian sensibilities would not trust the cooking or cleanliness! Once every summer our brave Uncle Lorenzo would gather up all 11 children and take us for a round trip ride on the ferry.... based on recent reviews it still sounds like a great place..... read more
