And they said I would get a second free exam and I didn't.

Really unhappy with this place. Went for an exam and health certificate for my dogs to fly. I've worked in the vet field for years and currently work at a clinic out of state in Alaska. I was planning on spending around 100 per exam and maybe 80-100 for health certificates so 200 give or take a little. Simple straightforward exam and health certificate for flying. I asked about fear free meds for my dog and was told it was against the law for them to fly in cargo with them, which it is not. Vets in Alaska routinely prescribe them we always have owners do a trial run before they fly to ensure pet responds well to medication. But no biggie we'll figure something out. Staff was really nice to be honest. They asked if I got my treatment plan when I was in the room. I did not, tried to search my email and didn't have anything. So we just proceeded with exam. Here is where it gets confusing and not a great experience. So I let the receptionist know I have free exam coupons. She said I can use both of we do separate transactions which is honestly great most places only allow you to use one. I was really thinking this is a great place nice staff clean and just great. But I'm charged $320 for professional fees, yep $160 per dog for the vets time and a health certificate for each dog although they are on one health certificate. Most clinics will charge you for one of both on same certificate, we always express to owners at my clinic which is a VCA by the way that it is Dr.'s discretion if they charge for one or two certificates. But I've never had a Dr charge for both unless they were going to be flying separately like in cargo and cabin per se and therefore separate health certificates. And also charges disposal fee although they only got exam no shots. I totally understand and am ok with separate health certificates cause it's doctors discretion. But also at the Doctors discretion is the professional fee of 160 per dog. Was anything extra done you ask? Nope straight forward exam. The health certificates only requested vets signature the support staff fill in the info. So what extra time is the doctor doing? No more involved or invested in them signing a rabies certificate. So 510 before free exams for an exam and piece of paper saying they are safe to fly. You may ask why go to VETCO vs VCA. To be honest I was under the assumption vetco would be a less expensive option and they had more appointment flexibility. Big lesson learned won't be back. I will be honest they did take off one of the professional fees because I was not ok with it and just said keep the health certificate and I'll go elsewhere to get it. I was flabbergasted and so pissed off. They took off the professional fee for one dog. So my bill was still very high $350. For both dogs. I did call another vetco clinic and was completely honest about what just happened and how much I was charged and she said each location is different but they do charge a professional fee. My receipt said professional fee 5@32 each. I'm assuming that's 32 for each 5 minutes The doctor was in the room cause our appointment was about 20 minutes for 2 dogs. This in my mind is insane. I was trying to save some money because the airline is already charging 300 for them to fly cargo. I won't be back and I'm really disappointed the Dr and staff are nice but I just can't justify their pricing modules. Lesson learned. Maybe it's a good fit for others just not us. My husband is extremely upset with me asking why it was so much and I tried to explain that I had no idea I've never seen this professional time fee. I agree that vets need to be paid for their time but I don't think this was fair. I understand if I took up for than my appointment time or I called with a ton of questions and used the vets time on the phone with a million extra questions but nothing like that happened. I saw a brochure in the exam room that listed packages for exam vaccines blood work and X-rays etc and the pricing was more than reasonable so I had expectations that their health certificate proving would be equal to their other services but it wasn't.

We had a virtual urgent care call and they were concerned enough that we brought him into The Scottsdale Veterinary Clinic to check in on him. After an ultrasound, they found that he had a mass on his spleen and was internally bleeding, and had to go into immediate overnight emergency surgery. The surgery was successful, and after a 36 hour hospital stay, Barkley is back home and on the mend. While this was such a scary experience and few days, I have nothing but wonderful things to say about The Scottsdale Veterinary Clinic and their team. They are open 24/7/365, and provided around the clock care. Because of the length of his stay, we worked with and spoke to multiple of their veterinarians and assistants (thank you to Dr. Ferguson, Dr. Fleming, Dr. Goldberg, and Dr. Blackmon), and everyone was so kind, attentive, and caring through every step of the process, gave us calls throughout the night with updates and over the past few days to check in on Barkley's progress, and were so compassionate in all of the care they provided. Barkley was in such great hands. Thank you to the The Scottsdale Veterinary Clinic team!

Not long after checking them out my pup told me it was time and we went immediately to them on a Friday morning when they opened. They had the perfect room for him. It was the corner one with the big window. My pup loved being outside and it was the perfect spot for him, he stared outside the window into nature. They gave us a whole cart of treats to give to him and the doctor and staff was so kind and compassionate. The staff from the very first time we walked in to the time I was called to pick his ashes up was absolutely amazing. It was the only time they truly saw him and it felt like they had cared for him so many times before. I couldn't of ask for a better place and staff to have my dog cared for. They were so kind to us and even complimented on how good he was but that was his demeanor, he was always kind and sweet. Thank you Scottsdale animal Hospital! You made a tough experience easy and smooth and made us feel welcomed.

The vet came in next we discussed the options, he has arthritis and allergies. She let us know of an injection for arthritis we never knew existed. She really loves animals and out dog, who is a ham. We asked going forward if we could get a room immediately and they said yes and asked if we wanted one with an exit door, so our dogs do not have to go through the waiting room. We said yes. Again never asked that by any vet. You can pay right in the room, another win. We have another dog who needs to be looked at. I can tell you as someone who just moved here, we will use them 100% for all our dogs and their needs! Added bonus we are able to schedule with the same vet going forward, which is great because they get to know your pet and their personality.

I fed her daily but wasn't allowed to bring her inside. After I moved, the guilt kicked in and I began the mission of trapping a community cat who is clearly smarter than most people I know. Eventually... success. I called ahead to ask if bringing in a trapped semi-feral cat was even a thing. The staff was incredibly kind and reassuring. The team handled it like absolute pros and whisked her away so I didn't have to watch the chaos unfold. From what they shared, Cat immediately demonstrated her Olympic-level wall-scaling abilities, but they managed to take care of everything we needed, AND walked me through a clear cost breakdown before doing anything, thank you! And were genuinely kind through the whole process. Cat is now home, safe, and pretending none of this ever happened. We'll be back for boosters... assuming I can outsmart her again.

However, there should never be a situation where the cat gets out of its carrier and is bouncing around the room. It is, of course, dangerous for the cat and everyone else. The folks that are really expert at handling ferals are the spay/neuter clinics. They service a ton of feral cats, because we TNR volunteers go there all the time. They also charge much less than regular vets. It is extremely helpful to get the feral cats into a double-exit trap too, rather than a regular carrier. It is so much easier for the staff at the clinic. Check out Altered Tails, Midwestern, the AHS, and my favorite, Low Cost Spay & Neuter (formerly AZSpay-- $55 per cat to fix a feral).
