I took my Boston terrier Smoochie to Vetco Total Care Animal Hospital. They offer a free 1st visit for new clients. They offer shot clinics at all their locations but they only have two locations with actual in-store Vet clinics and Happy Valley is one of them. The facility is clean and modern the staff and doctors are friendly and helpful. I was hoping to get a refill of Apoquel for my dogs itchy allergies but they weren't comfortable prescribing without an expensive blood panel first which I declined but no worries I will just go back to Petsmart where we usually go I thought I would give Vetco a try for the purposes of this review and to check them out for comparison using their complimentary 1st time visit for new clients. read more

The vet was great with my dog that started having seizures...also very responsive and helpful with follow up calls.

If I could give zero stars I would. I only picked this place because I take my dog to get groomed in the same store and thought it would be convenient. It's not. The two systems don't even "talk". I went to the first appointment for shots and did the exam. When I booked the booster appointment for the shots, they called several times to say that if I didn't call and confirm the appointment they would cancel - which is a strange practice. However, they also stated that I would be charged for an exam fee. When I called back I spoke to the receptionist and explained that I had just been in for an exam a month prior and this was just for boosters. She reviewed and agreed. When I arrived, the person in the exam room immediately told me they'd be doing another exam. I stopped him and explained the situation again. He said I booked at the vet clinic and not the vax clinic and there would be an exam fee. He asked if I wanted him to book me at the vax clinic (which would have put my dog well over the booster time period) and I declined. Now, I basically have to start over with the shots. It is absurd that they don't automatically schedule the booster before you leave, to ensure proper timing. It's equally ridiculous that they won't allow a simple "vax-only" appointment for patients already seen there. The whole system is a disorganized money grab. The experience was a complete waste of time and money, and I will absolutely never return. read more

I made an appt online for my cat to get some diagnostic exams and called to verify the exams would be available on this date since it was honestly unclear online. The person on the phone verified and said yes. We arrived today to learn I was misinformed and they don't do full vetting on Sundays, only vaccines. I asked if there were appts available for the next day and they replied with "I don't know". I'd think they'd have access to a calendar but okay, brushed it off. They handled my frustration well and provided me with the best tools they were able to without a fully vetted appointment so I appreciate that. But overall there's some failing logistics here and I'm disappointed enough to not return for further services. They also have a sign posted that says they no longer accept the free consultation exam coupons and will only honor $30 off. read more

Make sure you ask before you go how much your visit will be. I paid before hand for my chihuahuas vaccines and we were only supposed to get that but the receptionist , very arrogant btw, charged me for a consultation. She kept on going on about how they're not a vaccine clinic, but the nurse at the previous visit assured me we would only go in for vaccines NOT a consult. It's very disappointing because I was very excited to make them my vet, but if they lied about that God knows what else they're lying about. Last time I didn't even see them out any vaccines on my dog, they took her and brought her back already vaccinated, and this time the dr did it in the apt. Really unhappy with this place. Went for an exam and health certificate for my dogs to fly. I've worked in the vet field for years and currently work at a clinic out of state in Alaska. I was planning on spending around 100 per exam and maybe 80-100 for health certificates so 200 give or take a little. Simple straightforward exam and health certificate for flying. I asked about fear free meds for my dog and was told it was against the law for them to fly in cargo with them, which it is not. Vets in Alaska routinely prescribe them we always have owners do a trial run before they fly to ensure pet responds well to medication. But no biggie we'll figure something out. Staff was really nice to be honest. They asked if I got my treatment plan when I was in the room. I did not, tried to search my email and didn't have anything. So we just proceeded with exam. Here is where it gets confusing and not a great experience. So I let the receptionist know I have free exam coupons. She said I can use both of we do separate transactions which is honestly great most places only allow you to use one. I was really thinking this is a great place nice staff clean and just great. But I'm charged $320 for professional fees, yep $160 per dog for the vets time and a health certificate for each dog although they are on one health certificate. Most clinics will charge you for one of both on same certificate, we always express to owners at my clinic which is a VCA by the way that it is Dr.'s discretion if they charge for one or two certificates. But I've never had a Dr charge for both unless they were going to be flying separately like in cargo and cabin per se and therefore separate health certificates. And also charges disposal fee although they only got exam no shots. I totally understand and am ok with separate health certificates cause it's doctors discretion. But also at the Doctors discretion is the professional fee of 160 per dog. Was anything extra done you ask? Nope straight forward exam. The health certificates only requested vets signature the support staff fill in the info. So what extra time is the doctor doing? No more involved or invested in them signing a rabies certificate. So 510 before free exams for an exam and piece of paper saying they are safe to fly. You may ask why go to VETCO vs VCA. To be honest I was under the assumption vetco would be a less expensive option and they had more appointment flexibility. Big lesson learned won't be back. I will be honest they did take off one of the professional fees because I was not ok with it and just said keep the health certificate and I'll go elsewhere to get it. I was flabbergasted and so pissed off. They took off the professional fee for one dog. So my bill was still very high $350. For both dogs. I did call another vetco clinic and was completely honest about what just happened and how much I was charged and she said each location is different but they do charge a professional fee. My receipt said professional fee 5@32 each. I'm assuming that's 32 for each 5 minutes The doctor was in the room cause our appointment was about 20 minutes for 2 dogs. This in my mind is insane. I was trying to save some money because the airline is already charging 300 for them to fly cargo. I won't be back and I'm really disappointed the Dr and staff are nice but I just can't justify their pricing modules. Lesson learned. Maybe it's a good fit for others just not us. My husband is extremely upset with me asking why it was so much and I tried to explain that I had no idea I've never seen this professional time fee. I agree that vets need to be paid for their time but I don't think this was fair. I understand if I took up for than my appointment time or I called with a ton of questions and used the vets time on the phone with a million extra questions but nothing like that happened. I saw a brochure in the exam room that listed packages for exam vaccines blood work and X-rays etc and the pricing was more than reasonable so I had expectations that their health certificate proving would be equal to their other services but it wasn't. read more

Made an appointment for my dog max for a wellness exam but a few days after he started to get red and swollen on his behind I had scheduled the appointment for 11am but showed up around 10:15 when I arrived I spoke to ally and explained the situation and she switched us from a wellness to a sick exam and got us into a room ASAP. Jenna was our tech and she was amazing with max he does have anxiety and jumping behaviors but she handled him with such care and grace he couldn't have been in better hands same with his vet Max did have something going on with his glands so we got prescribed meds and got his anal glands cleaned for about 150$ after meds and treatment which is amazing due to us having a short budget wanting to get our baby seen they worked with our budget while also giving high quality care we did schedule a follow up with ally at the front and will only be coming here for Max's care. Huge thank you to ally for telling us about the vital pet care plan which will save us loads of money on food pet care etc if you want ur dog treated like royalty but not have to spend an arm and a leg or treated less than then this place is perfect! read more
