I have been here about 4 times since opening day. Honestly the best pizza in a 25 mile radius if you like true Brooklyn style pizza. The crust is thin and crisp, not doughy, and well salted. The sauce is tomato forward, not too sweet, but not tinny. The cheese is savory and flavorful and perfectly melty without making the pizza soggy. I have tried plain, marg, vodka, sausage, grandma style and more and all of them have been exactly wha I was hoping for. Additionally, the other food served is consistently delicious and as you would expect from a good pizzeria. Wings are crisp and juice, mozzarella sticks are melty, calamari isn't chewy, pasta is cooked perfectly, and rolls are brimming with filling. The service is classic pizza establishment where the owners, managers, and other staff are quick to start up a conversation and have you laughing. Stopped here on our way home to CT from PA based off a rating we found on Apple Maps of all places. Strip plaza slice shops kinda worry me BUT looks can be deceiving which was the case here. Once in and seated by our server, we were the only 2 people there around 5-ish on a Sunday afternoon, the place quickly and I mean quickly filled up with groups of people, families, friends and then it all makes sense. I believe the owner's name is Mike...Mike hasn't built just another pizza/red sauce joint. Mike has created a place of community where strangers become part of a bigger family brought together by gorgeous plates of pasta, pizza and a variety of beautiful dishes. I'm from an Italian American family and Sunday was always family day all sitting around a huge table with similar plates of pasta, salads, meatballs etc all being passed around, people talking (not on their phones) wine being drunk and shared. It was beautiful and for a weary traveler it made you feel right at home even though we had another 3 hours to go. I have no pictures to post simply because we were enjoying the moment and people that now occupied every single table and chair. Food was very good from the bread they bring out to accompany your meals to the Greek wrap that I had and the calzone my wife had. Garlic knots are a must for an app and get an extra side of sauce to dunk. I enjoyed the sauce so much that Mike gave us a bigger container of it for home. Staff and Mike are very attentive to each table and guest needs. Food came out fast and fresh. Each plate that came out for other tables had us going "ohhh man I should've ordered that!!" Upon leaving, Mike wished us safe travels home and hoped we would return. Vesuvio's is a must visit anytime you're in the area...might even be worth the 3 hour ride back from CT. This place could easily be placed on Wooster St in New Haven and lines would be out the door just because it feels like home with nonna cooking in the kitchen waiting to smack your hand with the wooden spoon for trying to sneak a taste of a meatball. So glad that we have a nice local gathering place. The owner and staff members are very friendly. They have a nice corner with a long table that can fit at least 12 people. Tables, floors, and restrooms are clean. Pizza quality meets our standards. They also provide a range of Italian cuisine and offer catering. My kids like the Alfredo pasta. Last night my girlfriend and I went to Vesuvio for the third time and we enjoyed the great pizza and friendly service as we did the first two times. My favorite is the eggplant Parm slice, followed by the margherita, white and plain slices. My girlfriend's favorite is the plain slice. They get the sauce right. Tangy and tasty, but not salty and not bland. The service is friendly, fast and accommodating. The owner helps you feel right at home. It reminds me of the pizza places that I went to growing up in Brooklyn, which is high praise. read more

Waited 1 hour for our order. Told 25/30 minutes. Several people waiting for their orders when I arrived. They were incredibly disorganized. We ordered one small cheese and one small sausage pie. They said they gave our order away. So they gave us one small pie and one large pie to make up for it. However they didn't have a sausage pie in the oven so they decided to just throw sausage on a cheese pie when it was halfway done. Sausage was thrown on a previously cooked cheese pie and warmed up.
