Just returned from picking fruit and boy was it crazy busy! Give yourself time to arrive and park, as traffic in and out is def crazy on a weekend, much less a holiday weekend. Free parking was completely full and vehicles were turning around on the street to try again. They did have plenty of staff trying to direct traffic but it's a daunting task, so bring your patience. VIP parking was pretty full but people do come and go, so you may have to wait as ppl leave. On the weekends, they have food vendors (bagel, Indian food, ice cream, sugar cane juice, kettle corn, etc and a covered area with picnic tables. They are now charging $6 for a small container vs $9 for the ones about double the size earlier this week. They still have plenty of fruit, but you do have to look harder. They open u-pick areas by numerical sections (ie 1-10). Be prepared to leave with sticky dirty shoes, due to a lot of dropped fruit or muddy areas.

I've lived over 45 years of life and the only things I knew about Mulberries were the nursery rhyme "Here we go round the mulberry bush" and one coworker told me a few years ago that they are really good and I need to try it sometime. Mulberries grow on trees, not bushes! Curse you, nursery rhyme! When one of our friends asked us to go fruit picking, specifically mulberry picking, we jumped at the opportunity. We arrived at the parking lot and it was massive. It reminded me of parking at an amusement park - they'll someday need posted signs with characters so we can remember where we parked. Parking is free, but there is an admission fee of $8 per person. Reservations can be made online in advance - we just scanned the QR code on site to get tickets. Our friends remembered a few years back where it was a much smaller operation, there was a fee to park, but no price of admission. Upon entering, they give you some plastic boxes to pack the mulberries you pick. Every case you take home costs $9. They also give you a long stick with a narrow plastic cylinder at the end. We were first wondering how in the world are we supposed to pick fruit with a half open tube. But after the first try, it turned to common sense. The ripe berries are barely hanging on, so if you tap them gently, they fall into the tube. Mulberries really long dark berries. I didn't measure, but maybe 1 to 2 inches in length. We tried to get the darkest, most ripe ones. Some of those were too ripe and borderline starting to ferment. The light purple ones still tasted pretty good despite not looking that ripe. I don't know how to describe the flavor - it's certainly berry adjacent. Our whole family loves berries and three of us were devouring berries while our fourth member stopped at one. It's ok, because the rest of us ate enough to covert the full price of admission. We went in early May and the weather was fantastic. There is some shade for protection, but definitely bring a hat and water. We were outside for over an hour and a half between walking from the parking lot, gaining admission, and the fruit picking itself. Highly, highly recommend Very Mulberry. I'm still thinking about the experience weeks later and it brings a smile to my face.

4/25/26 Ferry farmer's market

Well, it's that time of the year again. And almost three years after my 1st review of this place. Things actually improved after that maiden purchase as they are a seasonal regular at the Ferry farmers' market. I remember buying quite a bit in 2025 on both Tuesdays and Saturdays. On the final Saturday in April, I noticed their stand and decided to buy a couple boxes for a friend who is a huge fan (https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=saJuyv784apZzH--psHZ3Q&select=jBczSUlQoHX7A7lgw__JZA). If you are a fan, please note that the season is limited, generally six to eight weeks from what I remember. There are generally only two other farms that offer this and they are even more limited since it is a rotational crop for them. Welcome back to the Ferry farmers' market and I'll be seeing you weekly until the season is over. Look for the stand along the south driveway, just past the food stands (Roli Roti and Wise Sons Bagels).

Super fun experience! This was my first time trying a Mulberry and at a Mulberry farm, it felt really unique and the entire farm is set up to be as easy and smooth as possible. Mulberries are only in season for less than 8 weeks so make sure you try to come when it's open. The mulberries are super sweet and supple, like a cross between a moon drop grape and blackberry! Definitely sample them but be warned, they do stain your clothes and hands easily. The u-pick is easy to find and the Mulberry Train which is included in the $8/person admission is an easy way to get to more trees with ripe Mulberries. They provide picking tools and boxes for you to fill up (priced at $9 per box) and the grounds have portable bathrooms, sinks to wash your hands and a few food trucks on the weekends which is great.

What a neat activity! Def have to try it at least once. Learn what it is, how it tasted, and how it is picked! Very cool. Did you know? Mulberries are stone fruits $8 admission per person Pay additional $8 per box you leave with picking Free parking Free use of the picking tool There are food, cookie and shaved ice stands in the food area

This was so fun. Mulberries tend to be delicate and don't stay fresh for long, so you'll rarely see them in grocery stores. There's nothing better than being able to pick them fresh off the trees! They are so juicy and sweet--I would describe the flavor as something between a cherry and blackberry. Make sure to plan a mulberry picking day in Brentwood before the season is over.

What an awesome U-pick experience if you're a mulberry lover! These long caterpillar-looking berries are so sweet and juicy, and they're even better when you pick them fresh off the tree! We made the drive out to Brentwood on a Saturday and oh boy was it crowded and busy! The farm is big enough for everyone to spread out though and so it didn't feel too crowded if you just go out in the field far enough. It was 8$ per adult entry fee, and then each box of mulberries that you fill up to take home is $9. You do get unlimited sampling though to eat mulberries to your heart's delight! You also get a picker stick to use to pick the mulberries high in the trees. When we went in late April, there were still plenty of mulberries in the lower branches to hand pick. The mulberries here were so sweet and supple! Each bite gushed with that purple mulberry juice and I couldn't stop sampling them until my mouth and hands were stained purple! The mulberries do get moldy within a few days though, so plan to eat them soon after. Such a fun outdoor spring activity, looking forward to going back in a few weeks for more mulberries!

We reserved in advance and went there on a Saturday morning. Didn't get the VIP parking but the regular parking was good too. The Mulberry express train ride to the trees was cute and fun. There were lots of Mulberries and the process was simple. They gave us 5 plastic boxes and one cardboard box. We took about an hour to fill all the 5 boxes. The staff was friendly and even offered to take pictures of our group. The mulberries are super sweet and delicious. There were some vendors there selling popcorn, cookies, Pani puri and more. This experience is really worth it.

this was our first time and we are definitely coming back again. mulberries were so sweet and ready to eat. loved the whole experience. i didn't like this whole online form filling things. it was very unnecessary.

My 1st time U-Picking Mulberries. I had never tasted them before, but thought I'd give them s try! Ok, they have the texture of a blackberry and a bit more of a savory/sweet taste. I'm thinking of making jam vs cobbler, as I don't think they are a proper cobbler taste for me. The farm was clean and they make it very easy to pick. Fun for families, I'm sure. Berries are extremely clean, not one bug or larvae found, just bit of berry and lil dirt.

What a fun way to spend a couple of hours. Everyone was so kind and helpful, I recommend taking the tram, you end up in a larger orchard with more trees. Mulberries are unique, sweet and delicious. There's a bit of a learning curve to picking them.

It was my first time going here and this year reservations were required. My cousin who went here last year didn't have reservations requirement. The reservation came with general public parking. This year their website posted rules on no picnic, backpacks etc. I arrived and was being directed to the overflow lot despite having a reservation and paying for the parking by the main entrance. The walk from overflow lot to entrance luckily wasn't too far. QR code needs to be scanned prior to entering. This was a bit chaotic as there were one staff per two QR code scanner. So if you are a big group, stay together to make it easier for the staff to check reservations. After checking in, you are given a carton with a couple of trays. Get your mulberry picker and make your way to the orchard. There were staff members who were directing the crowd to head to the left side of the orchard. As there were more fruits on that side versus further back. Despite their new rules, it wasn't enforced. Plenty of people had backpacks and were having their picnic on the orchard itself. I don't know why people would do this as they get in the way of other people. There were picnic tables located by the entrance, restrooms, vendors and it was under a tent. There were plenty of ripe mulberries for everyone to harvest. Some were just within reach and no need for the picker stick. The ripe mulberries didn't require a lot of force to be harvested either. There were vendors onsite (food trucks, kettle corn, cookies and sugar cane juice), not sure if this changes each weekend. There were several porta potty with hand washing stations. After harvesting, pay for the number of trays filled. It was $9 per tray. They were also selling mulberry plants by the exit. We didn't go on the train. The staff who handles the overflow lot made it confusing when it came time to exiting.

First time paying for fruit-picking and Very Mulberry did not disappoint! My family including two of my toddler boys had so much fun! We love to eat mulberries and came here on Father's Day right before the mulberry season ended! It was such a fun activity! We got to try different mulberries from different trees and there were thousands of mulberries left! My 13 month old was using his hands to pick the mulberries from the trees and had so much fun too! My 2.5 year old toddler son used the fruit picker and was super excited when he was able to get them himself! Mulberries were usually very pricey but here, it was worth the price! $8 for as many mulberries we could fit (closing the box) vs buying less than half the amount for $8/box (or $16/lb). So much better to pick the fruits ourselves and enjoy them! We decided this would now be our annual family fruit picking tradition! See you next season! PS. mulberries do not last for more than a few days but the ones in the fruit farm were so sweet and delicious! Best mulberries ever!

VIP parking is an additional $8 but I don't think it's worth it because the VIP parking is right next to the free parking.

Later on, we found out that section was already out of season. As we walked farther, we finally saw much better cherries, but most of the good ones were way too high to reach and there were no ladders available. There were some lower branches, but the cherries there were not great in quality, so we ended up picking only around 3 lbs. We then decided to switch to the peach and nectarine area hoping for a better experience, but unfortunately there was barely anything good to pick. Most of the fruits were either overripe, damaged, or already picked over. Overall, it felt like the farm should have better guidance on which sections are still worth visiting before customers pay and spend time walking around in the heat. The staff was fine, but the overall fruit quality and picking experience were disappointing for us this visit.

My daughter and I found what looked to be an unpicked cherry tree and went to work. It didn't take long for us to gather a bounty of cherries, and there was tons of low hanging fruit that was super easy for a petite seven-year-old to reach. Special thanks to the Freitas staff member who told us to pick dark cherries. The bright red ones look appealing but they need more time on the tree! We took home seven pounds of cherries. They were $4/pound and they take cash or credit cards. I checked their website before heading here (and recommend you do too!). We'll definitely be back to Freitas.

There was no signage indicating price/pound, and they give you a plastic bag to carry your cherries. When we got into the orchard, we noticed that most of the trees had been either picked clean or had berries that were rotten or too small/not ripe yet. We intentionally walked much further in to see if we could find some trees that hadn't been picked as much, but the orchard wasn't in great shape. We struggled to find cherries we actually wanted to pick, and we tripped a few times on the uneven dirt, weeds, and tubes running throughout. When we left, we weighed our cherries and confirmed they were $4/lb. Freitas also doesn't take credit card, so we had to pay with either cash or Venmo. We've previously been to The Cherry Pit and far preferred our experience there. The Cherry Pit had parking closer to the entrance, clear signage indicating price/lb, lots of high quality trees and ample cherries to pick, and accepts credit cards. The Cherry Pit also didn't ask us to sign a waiver before entering.
