I recently visited Dr. Motiram's office after being referred there by multiple specialists. I was a bit apprehensive at first because of the 2 negative (and quite frankly, misleading) reviews on this site, but went ahead and made the appointment anyway. My experience was a bit shaky at first, as there was about a twenty-minute wait time and the staff wasn't warm/friendly (hence only 4 out of 5 starts); but after meeting with the doctor I realized that she was just what I needed! I went in - said my piece - heard her diagnosis - and got a prescription - all in a timely manner. She accomplished in just a few minutes what took other doctors multiple visits to conclude --- and was spot on! I have a busy schedule, so this arrangement works out very well for me. I simply cannot understand why the only reviews here are negative, because she really put my life on track without spending unnecessary time dwelling on the past. Granted, I'm probably not going to send her staff my famous holiday cookies, but overall I was very pleased with my appointment and am looking forward to seeing her again. read more

So, I took a long time to process if I wanted to write a review. I decided it might be best to do so. I think Dr. Veronica Moderam is very professional and I'm really happy and thankful she is so prominent on following the rules it made my next visit much easier. My visit with her honestly seemed a bit judgmental, I left feeling like she assumed as an addict, an experiment rather than a patient and assumed to be financially unstable. (I have no past issues with drug use, or financial issues) my doctor was no longer in practice so I went here for my 3 medications one being a controlled substance. Once I saw Dr. VM she immediately told me I'd have to take specific tests. This was of absolutely no issue to me to do so, but before I was able to even express my willingness she said "so we can just stop the visit now if it's an issue " it seemed like she was basically telling me "if your a drug addict get out" it struck some concern I've never participated in drug use due to the fact addiction killed most of my family. Of what I then felt I needed to share with her?? She kept explaining why I needed tests even though I never gave any push back once to her very reasonable request, followed by her statement saying " yes let's just see how scattered you really are".it felt like she was eager to challenge the competence of every psychiatrist I've ever seen and study me like an experiment rather than a human patient. After that she was concerned how I could afford a test without it being covered by insurance.. In my head, i was thinking I don't know this lady I barely say more than 2 sentences and she thinks I'm a drug addict and broke . Maybe it was projection of her past patients but... I wound up getting the test she requested but went to a different doctor who was gladly surprised with my arrival with pre taken results. I told him about this last visit and he said it was "very professionally unprofessional".. just take caution if you look alternative I guess. Not meant to be mean and I wasn't really offended that badly but some other people who are more sensitive might be hurt by assumptions. I was a patient of Dr. Motroran many years ago and I loved her. She's a good listener, kind hearted and tells it like it is. I looked forward to my appointments. I have since moved out of state and still think of her and wish her well. She helped me a lot with A.D.D. If you're undecided or hesitant to get help, pick up the phone, make the appointment and run to the office. I'm just kidding about that last part... Go easy! You'll be glad you did so. The office staff isn't the best . Dr motiram does not spend a lot of time with me. I've tried to explain certain symptoms but she tells me she'll try 'this or that' medication that we've already tried in the past. So I don't feel heard. She did push klonapin when I started but I chose to discontinue it. My pcp was prescribing me anti psychotics for depression and I met with her and was a mess. She took me off all of them and told me to come back in 6 weeks (and I need medication) I had to make a sooner appointment crying. She did listen to an extent and prescribed me correct medication. I constantly tell her about my sleep problems and she just tells me to try magnesium, Benadryl, I keep telling her it doesn't work. She's switched sleep medication over and over (like doxapine, to now elavil) elavil doesn't help now but im scared to tell her because I've been on a lot of different medications for sleep and she keeps trying to prescribe me stuff I've tried in the past. I don't want to sound like I'm seeking medication but this sleep is brutal. read more

I saw Dr. Motiram for a few years. She had me on such high doses of medications that my liver was damaged. I found a new psychiatrist and bought him everything I was taking, and he told me it was cause for malpractice! I'm still dealing with liver issues and am under the care of a gastroenterologist now. Dr. Motiram always ran late, never spent more than five or ten minutes with me, and just doled out more drugs. Nice lady, bad doctor. read more

I was referred to this woman by my PCP to assess my need for continuing a Xanax prescription I had been on for years (just moved to FL from Colorado, in process of finding new doctor, etc). I waited nearly an hour to be seen (yes had an appt). Finally get in to see her after being charged and paying FIRST to see her (w/ insurance still over $100). Anyways finally get in to see her and she asks what brings me in. I tell her and she immediately responds with "I don't prescribe that medication, that's why x amount of people die everyday in Florida". I'm like okay, so why was I referred to you, she doesn't have an answer. I get my money refunded and leave after wasting my time and energy. Long story short I find a new PCP, who is willing to continue prescribing the medication, which is a good thing because what's even more dangerous than taking Xanax is abruptly stopping it. I am very disheartened and concerned and the overall attitude that Dr. Motiram gave me. If she was truly concerned about my health or the health of the x amount of people who die everyday from these awful drugs, she should be aware that suicide rates from abruptly stopping are even higher. I am now safely and very slowly tapering off of this medication, and this doctor should be ashamed of her attitude and outlook towards people who come to her for help. In the long run she is no different than 90% (probably even higher) of psychiatrists out there. Only concerned about money and legal issues, there is a huge problem in this country with mental health and it all stems from the use of psychiatric medications and the health care providers that prescribe them being more ignorant and negligent than the patients! I went to this dr. for years and she spent 0 time to listen to my problems - I don't know why I waited so long to quit her, but she had me totally hooked on meds so I went for the prescription. She asks you how you are and no matter what you say, she simply says "ok here is your prescription and make an appointment for next month when you pay on your way out". I have been seeing this doctor for years and had a positive experience until this morning. The office staff was unbelievably rude, raised their voices at me over a miscommunication on their behalf (I was speaking calmly, professionally and politely). I have refered numerous people to Dr. Motiram and I am now wishing I had not as the experience with the front office staff was so egregious. I have never met a more compassionate, intuitive Psychiatrist in all my years of care! I find these reports of her being uncommunicable are outrageous! She is NOT a PILL PUSHER! As a matter of fact, she took me OFF medication that I didn't need to be on and could conflict with the meds I take for my auto immune disorder! She listens and she cares! She put things together that I never thought of and it made sense ! She even noticed that I was wincing and touching my stomach. I didn't think it was noticeable. horrible experience. was referred to her and she said that until I was off my current medicines, she wouldn't treat me, and that she doesn't even prescribe one of my medications because it was so difficult to come off of (effexor) and that once I got off the medicines, she would be happy to take me on as a patient. so with the help of my gp, I weaned off of them. it took about 1.5 months. I call to set up an appointment and the office said they had to talk to her and would get back to me. I mentioned that it was dangerous for me to be off meds for awhile and to please call me soon. my husband helped me cope being unmedicated which was not easy at all. I called at the end of the week and her staff told me that she had decided to not take me on as a patient!!!! after telling me to get off of all my medications!!!! No stars. Totally unprofessional...prescribed gabapentin at an extremely high dosage, the pharmacists said "I can't possible fill this"....and that's just for starters. She said when I questioned her high dosage prescription "You just want to sue me!" A paranoid individual who should not be working within the industry. Where to begin.....the staff is so rude and degrading to any patient that walks in the door, especially the office manager. They all need a major lesson in tact and how to speak to and communicate with emotionally and physiologically unstable patients: Considering that is the practice they are in. Once getting past them, the doctor only spends a total of about 60 seconds with you before booting you out the door with your Rx and does not care nor listen to a word you say. They are so money hungry and only care about packing in as many patients as they possible can in a day. Obviously quality care is out the window here. Office staff completely incompetent. I arrived for my 3pm appt & was told i could not be seen since i failed to give my updated insurance info 24hrs b/f visit. NO ONE ASKED ME FOR MY INSURANCE WHEN I BOOKED. They said thats why they have signs posted in office. I tried to resched for another 3pm appt and was told that im technically a new patient since I hadnt been for over 2yrs. & can only be seen b/n 9-1. Clearly, im not able to read signs in office if i havent been in over 2yrs! No apology...unbelievable!?!?? Also, office hours are not conducive to a normal, run of the mill schedule so making an appointment is already challenging enough. Save yourself the frustration and go elsewhere. read more

I have been seeing Dr Motiram for over a year now. She has never spent more than 2 minutes with me. She has my scripts already written. I walk in and she says hi, how are you doing. No matter what my answer is, she gives a canned response while writing in the chart. When she's finished writing ( no matter what's being said) she hands me the chart and scripts and says she'll see me next month. Appointment over. I've asked if I can come every 2 months instead of every month, but she said it's against the law to give more than 1 month of clonopin at a time. This is NOT true. read more

Often people with metal illness are difficult and impatient to deal with. Dr. Motiram is the best. Dr. Motiram is very good, understanding and takes time with her patients. She takes feedback from her clients and makes adjustments and suggestions to patient care as needed. She doesn't just push prescriptions at you and send you on your way. This woman ruined my life and my family's life (see www.paxilprogress.org). God knows how many years before my brain reverts back to its original condition after being damaged by psych drugs. Trust yourself and your gut instinct and do not let her label you something that you clearly know you're not. We are humans with normal emotions and feelings and labels only serve one purpose--drugging us. She will seem caring and concerned about you, but it's her way (misdiagnosis) or the highway. As soon as you question her on anything she'll call you narcissistic and dismiss you from her office. I was a totally mentally stable person before an episode of situational anxiety and ended up with 4-5 labels. Due to her labeling me, I was put on a cocktail of psych drugs to which I had adverse reactions over and over, basically the drugs caused brain damage. My personality, identity, values, capacity to feel love/joy/empathy have been wiped out. Read Dr. Breggin's book before you take any psych drug. The truth about these poisons will be known. What people fail to realize is that the number one addiction in the world are controlled substances and because of that, the DEA cracked down on pain clinics in florida and shut them down. No she will not give you medication she does not see fit to give you nor because you beg for them! And to the people who want to write bad reviews because she prescribed a medication to you that so happened to damage you in one way or the other is NOT her fault! She is highly respected in the psychiatry field and people should not tarnish her name because people in fact want to use her to get medication that will inhibit them in a negative way or because they are addicts hidden in the closet!! The worse medical experience I have ever encountered. EVER. I have never experienced anything like this in my life. The office staff is so incredibly rude. They were demeaning, uncaring and beyond rude. If I hadn't experienced this first hand I wouldn't have believed it. Doctor Motiram is robotic and without warmth. She will not return a phone call no matter what the circumstance. She has no compassion; she is extremely mechanical. But her lack of caring isn't the worse thing about this office. I've seen Dr. Motiram for..10 or 12 or 14 years now? Sure, front staff problems can occur, but they happen far less there than in other offices (I spent 12 years in healthcare, seeing that firsthand). And typically the staff goes above and beyond once they get to know you and your needs. Dr. Motiram really cares, is very smart, able to see through the words you say and recognize what you really mean. She has called me or my wife to check on me on weekends and evenings. She is not afraid to prescribe outside some of the seemingly randomly selected limits - and some people freak out about that. Relax. She's calculating your weight and working from experience and training. The office is busy for a reason - it's a good one, and it's the only way they can succeed thanks to our awful insurance schemes in this country. I can't imagine a better doctor, and I'm very thankful for her. read more

Do not go to this doctor! I've seen her the past year. I should have left sooner. Expect to wait 1-2 hrs every appointment. The waiting room is always packed and uncomfortable with a tv playing loudly. About 15 clients are waiting to see her at any given time. She grossly overbooks, sees each client for 5 min. just to write a prescription. She consistently answers the phone. I've expressed my concerns to her and all she does is apologize but changes nothing. She doesn't spend any time to listen or properly diagnose. The front desk is commonly rude and careless towards the people seeking help, esp. Christine. Christine snapped at me so loudly that Dr. Motiram heard from her office, but nothing seemed to be done. I understand is can be frustrating in a busy office, especially since the doctor overbooks on such a large scale, but I was quite taken aback. I witnessed her do the same to at least 1-2 others just in the time I was there. Terrible practice that I wish would be shut down. I would give 0 stars if I could. read more

I've been a patient of Dr. Motiram's since 2007. She immediately and accurately diagnosed my conditions, and since going to her for treatment I can say that I am doing very well. I agree that she has had some of the worst staff members I've ever had the misfortune to work with - they've been some of the most unprofessional and rude individuals I've come across and quite honestly should not be working in a psychiatrist's office (much less ANY office). That being said, her current office manager is great - very professional, courteous and kind. Dr. Motiram herself is very pleasant and caring, but she is NOT a therapist. If you feel you need someone to speak with, to help you work through issues and provide advise or guidance, you should seek a psychologist. I can say from experience that Dr. Motiram worked very well WITH my therapist for the approximate year or so that I saw one. Dr. Motiram herself, I'd give 5 stars, but due to the awful staff (with the exception of 2 or 3 of her CURRENT staff), I had to take one star away. read more
