He would be sure to stop in on my mom during hospitalizations sometimes 2 or more times in a day. It is now 2 years later and unfortunately my 91 year old father is now facing medical issues. I accompanied my father there on a recent appointment. Dr. Alley has a super staff. The nurse Alaina & Gaelle, who I believe is an assistant know my dad by name and could not be more friendly or kind. Alaina, is very professional and so respectful of my dad. Dr. Alley makes my father (and me) feel like he is the only patient in the office. He explains medical information in "patient-friendly" language. So are patients sometimes waiting an inordinate amount of time for their appointment? The answer is yes. Should that affect the 5 star rating I've given Dr Alley and his staff? Absolutely Not! Before Dr. Alley treated my mother, I was was one of the many "unhappy patients" when a doctor or dentist made me wait a lengthy amount of time in the waiting area. But after the amount of time he doles out in treating his patients, I will never make that complaint again. So if you are in that office waiting, please don't take it out on Linda, the receptionist. Just know you are in the best hands of the best physician and staff, ever!

During a routine 6-month physical, staff performed an EKG. Shortly after, the Nurse Practitioner (NP) informed me that I was actively having a myocardial infarction (a heart attack) and ordered me to rush to the ER. In a state of total panic, I went straight to Baptist Health ER, where they initiated full cardiac protocols, including blood work, x-rays, and monitoring. After a terrifying 45-minute wait, the ER physician reviewed the paperwork brought from Dr. Stein's office and discovered a glaring error: the second page of the report explicitly stated that the EKG leads had been placed on the wrong side of my body. It was a false positive caused entirely by staff incompetence. When I called the practice to report this, the NP was incredibly dismissive, stating, "My bad, I don't read those interpretation notes." I spoke with the Office Manager, who promised that she and Dr. Stein would follow up with me. It has now been two weeks. I have received zero follow-up, no apology, and they haven't even called to give me my routine blood work results. As a cancer survivor, regular blood monitoring is critical to my ongoing health. To completely ignore a patient after a traumatizing, costly, and entirely avoidable ER scare is unacceptable. Please be warned and protect your health--avoid this practice.

They have a lab on site so my blood work was done there versus having to wait 7 hours at a LabCorp (which if anyone reads this- you know EXACTLY what i'm talking about) Besides the friendly faces throughout my whole visit, the doctor was extremely attentive even though it was my first time! Usually when I go to a healthcare professional for the first time they basically cross off a check list and leave. After a 30 minute wait outside and another 30 minute wait in the examination room LOL. Which leads me into another highlight- the service was quick and efficient. LOVED THAT. All in all, this office treated me like I am a regular of theirs for years and gave me pretty spectacular service. Going to a clinic for your health care needs is extremely personal and you have to find a place that fits your needs. I cannot overstate how much I admire and respect this doctor and her staff. My situation is such that I need to see numerous specialist throughout the year. Each of those appointments involve a lengthy sit in a waiting area before being ushered into an examination for a brief meeting with the doctor. With the exception of a few sentences containing medical information about my condition, our conversation is no more remarkable than what might be heard between strangers at a bus stop. The Dr Massar experience could not be more different. First there is no more waiting but there is so much more of everything else. Each year before the blood work review and physical exam, Dr Massar engages me in a conversation about everything form aches and pains to bodily functions. Nothing is off the table. I have divulged a humiliating amount of personal information to her. I am sure she has wanted to bust a gut but she always maintains an incredible poker face. Makes me laugh to think about. She has improved the quality of my life and my overall health through education and suggestion not drugs. Each year she recommends books for me to read about diet and cognitive health. I look forward to this years reading selections. Occasionally I worry that Dr Massar will move on or retire. I know my wife and daughter, also her patients, would be very sad, but I would be wrecked, for fear my quality of life improvements would begin to wane and my resolve to push back against my many maladies would weaken.
