You get an entire carafe of water on the table which is nice.

Very glad I stopped in today to grab some lunch. Portions are generous, food is tasty, and atmosphere is laid back and comfortable. Waitress was super nice and chatty and friendly, down to earth. The biggest surprise of this meal was actually the side salad. Made with attention to detail, not just lettuce thrown into a bowl; actual rosemary and toasted crouton pieces, delicious balsamic dressing and fresh veggies. Wings were huge and meaty. Was only able to fit salad and wings in for lunch, so took the chicken parm grinder (in fresh baked bread I might add) home. The chicken parm grinder could have been made into more of a cohesive sandwich (melted together in the oven with more sauce instead of chicken on bread) but I'm not holding that against Vero- it actually held up better the next day made how it was. $40 for all of this food?! I'll be back!

I've read a lot of reviews and we decided to try Vero Cucino Rustico . It definitely has a pizza place atmosphere. Not sure if it just was a bad day, but the waitress wasn't very welcoming. We ordered the prosciutto wrapped figs for an appetizer. The figs were very dry and over cooked . I had New York Strip for dinner it was just ok nothing special. My husband had the chicken marsala which was very good. The chicken was moist sauce was very tasty pasta done perfectly. I wouldn't say the pasta was homemade. Overall, I would just say it was just (OK ).Next time, I'll definitely try the pizza. It looks delicious.

We went to see we 3 trio Saturday night and we had a great time! The minute we walked in the staff took great care of us, Natalia made great cocktails, and Katie was our server. We both got pizzas and they were absolutely delicious. We will definitely return.

Ambiance: The restaurant has a good location with easy parking, which is definitely a plus. The interior is divided into two main dining areas: one on the left for regular dining and another on the right that includes a bar. The decor and table placement are decent and practical, though nothing particularly fancy or memorable. Overall, it offers a comfortable enough setting for a casual meal. Service: Despite the restaurant not being busy, the service was slower than expected. Though we didn't have to wait that long for our appetizers, our entrees came out after more than 40 minutes. The server was friendly and made an effort to engage with us which I appreciated. However, there were a couple of things that could be improved. First, when asking if we wanted a salad, she phrased it casually enough that it sounded like it was included with the meal. Not everyone enjoys salads, so it would be better if the server clarified that it's an additional order. Second, the repeated offer for drinks, asked about three times or maybe more, felt a bit pushy. I understand it might have been a way to fill the long wait time for the entrees, but once or twice would have been sufficient. Food: I can only comment on my dish and the one ordered by the person next to me. I ordered the shrimp scampi and unfortunately, it was quite watery. There was enough liquid at the bottom of the plate to fill about a quarter of a 16 oz. glass, which made the linguine bland and the sauce lacking in flavor. It could really use a thicker, richer sauce to hold everything together. I had to add a lot of Parmesan cheese and chili flakes to make it more flavorful. On the positive side, the shrimp itself was cooked fine, and the portion size was decent. The person next to me ordered the lobster ravioli. The sauce was thick but grainy, and while it did have a hint of lobster flavor, there weren't many actual lobster pieces in it. The presentation looked good, but the texture and flavor balance could definitely be improved. My Overall Impression: This restaurant has potential... it's in a convenient location, has a comfortable atmosphere, and pretty friendly staff. However, the slow service and inconsistent food quality need improvement. I'm leaving this review in hopes that it helps the restaurant refine its service and enhance the quality of their dishes, because with a few adjustments, it could be a much better dining experience.

I chose this place for our company event and honestly it was the best decision! First of all, Taso worked so well to make all the food choices perfect. He gave recommendations on what was most popular. The food was INCREDIBLE! It tasted like we were ordering per dish, not for a big party. Plus, it was a beautiful display! We had charcuterie, lemon caper chicken, eggplant rollatini, stuffed mushrooms, penne a la vodka, and salad. The hall they have there is SO nice! They can even change the lighting to whichever color you wanted. We got do our company color! To top everything off, Talia and Kate worked the party and were also incredible. Both of them were SO kind and helpful. Talia made amazing drinks, as well! Taso has an amazing business going and I can't wait to be back. Thank you all so so much!!

In search of new restaurant, I haven't been to before, I trusted Yelp & it did not disappoint. Dined at Vero for dinner & sat in the Dining room (there are two sides). The Hostess sat us immediately, & we were brought waters & a basket of bread. I liked that all ingredients to make the classic Italian dipping oil was readily available on the table. In my opinion, the bread was really hard & tough. Not enough where we made a fuss or didn't eat it though. Our dinners were Vero Chicken & Norwegian Salmon entrees. The portions were generous & hot. No sitting under a heating lamp here. My salmon was cooked to a perfect medium & was absolutely delicious. Juicy from the edges to the middle. I don't know if I have knowingly consumed Norwegian Salmon before, but now, it's a favorite. The sheer size alone, won me over. A definite first for me was the tarragon risotto. I'm used to a creamy or cheesy risotto, but this had me intrigued. It was sticky consistency, but not dry. The tarragon wasn't over powering. Vero has a good amount of desserts as well. We chose the oreo mousse cake & cannolis for the ride home. We couldn't pass those up since it's an Italian restaurant. The cake didn't have a chance with our sweet tooths. The cannolis didn't make it home. Everything here, including costs exceeded our expectations & we talked about the experience days later. This restaurant will be a go to when looking for affordable fine dining.

Over the past 2 years the service & food quality has been in steady decline. My most recent visit was inexcusable and I won't return. We decided to visit for "reverse happy hour" as an alternative from our usual thirsday night visit to Esca. We had Michael for our server and sat upstairs in the lounge. We were brought menus as we were sat and we ordered drinks to start, but weren't sure on food yet. Our server then proceeded to visit our table 4 times over the next 15 minutes to ask if we wanted to place a food order. It felt rushed. The vibe : awkward. The music was so loud I couldn't hear my server, my date or anything else besides the droning voice of Amy Grey. She had no spacial awareness and didn't know when to shut up. Incessantly talking over every song and not realizing that a bar gig is inherently different from the radio. The food : mediocre. We ordered steak frites from the happy hour menu which noted that the steak was "marinated". The 4 piece of tepid steak that came to our table were covered in this cloyingly sweet sauce that tainted the entire dish. Since the steak was served atop the fries, this sauce caused the fries (straight from the Sysco box) to become soggy and absorb the sauce which made the fries not so appetizing. We followed that up with a Cheese Pizza which was pretty good. The pizza here is their saving grace, and this place would do much better as just a slice shop. The drinks : abysmal. I started with a Skittles fruited sour from Transcend Brewery that Sicily had on tap. I was excited because it's rare to find their beer on tap outside of the brewery. It was served in the wrong glass. The F&B manager at Sicily needs to do a better job at making sure the bar is properly serving drinks. Teku glasses are essential for fruited sours. It didn't taste the same as it did in the brewery, however, for $6 I decided to just chalk it up to inexperience. I followed the beer with a Paloma, which was advertised as $5 for happy hour. When I ordered from my server I pointed at the menu showing the tequila listed for $5. As soon as I tasted the drink that was brought to me, i knew it was way off. I asked my server to ask the bartender what was in the drink because it didn't taste right. He told me that the bartender said "grapefruit juice", which is not the proper mixer for a Paloma. A Paloma only has 3 ingredients - Grapefruit Soda (Squirt or Jarritos are acceptable), Tequila & Lime Juice - it's a very simple cocktail. If you didn't have grapefruit soda, which is the main ingredient in the drink, just tell me that... I would have picked something else. The service : Impersonal & rushed. When i sent back the drink, the affect of our server visibly changed, almost as if he was angry or insulted that I would send back a drink that wasn't made properly. He asked if I would like something else, but my confidence in the bartender to make a proper drink had waned and I stuck with water for the rest of the night. My date continued with a 3rd glass of wine. About 10 minutes after this, my date got up to use the restroom, and our server came over and handed me a box for the remaining pizza, without asking if we would like anything else or if my date was done with her wine. He whisked away the half full glass and dropped our check effectively ending our visit. We weren't ready to leave. My date came back to the table and asked where the rest of her drink was and I explained the our server cleared the table and dropped the check. She said "I guess it's time to go". The nail in the coffin was when I picked up the check to see that I was charged for a $16 "Casamigos" cocktail. So i suppose if i had continued to drink the Paloma he would have been happy to charge me $16 for a $5 happy hour drink. The whole experience was off-putting and we didn't feel welcome. It felt as if our server was just trying to turn tables as fast as possible. I won't be returning and recommend others to stay far away.

If you like New Haven style pizza, which is arguably the 'esemplare' of all pizza, then visiting The Little Rendezvous is a MUST visit if you live within 90-min. Plan a trip to visit some store you want to go to, a beach visit or whatever, just find a way to circle The Little Rendezvous into the trip! The crust is thin with a crackery-crunch, the sauce is at a another level and the mozz and roni are high-quality deliciousness! Rendezvous stands tall with any of the well known top-3 pizza joints in New Haven. Dave's score of 9.1 (if you are unaware of the reference, then pizza isn't your thing) is right on point, and I'd go as far as scoring it slightly higher at a 9.2 based on my visit. The building is something out of folklore. The building is all of about 20ft. wide, and when you enter, it is immediate, Steve (owner/chef) is all about the pizza. To be clear, most will consider Rendezvous to be take-out only. There is zero decor, less signs made with cardboard and sharpie notifying you that wait times of hours are real..... so be sure to call ahead. You walk past the most basic seating area of 3-4 small tables with bare walls, and then proceed to walk down an oddly long and narrow sloping hallway which leads you to the service counter/kitchen which houses the 130-year old oven! It's honestly something you could only imagine out of a movie...... the hole in the wall that is creating high-quality, delicious pizzas! Why or how you ask? The answer is simple, Steve! The guy clearly has a passion for making pizza and has dedicated his life to doing so. I met the 'man-the myth-the legend' on my visit, and he kindly even took the time to chat with me. We managed to hit Frank Pepe's and Sally's on our New England summer holiday, and Sally's was easily the best of the two. While the Connecticut style overall didn't entirely meet the massive hype for me, my daughter absolutely loved it--in fact, Sally's was her single best bite of the entire trip! The only reason it's getting 4 stars instead of 5 is that while it was very good, it wasn't earth-shattering, nor did it quite reach the heights of places like L'Industrie in NYC. We ordered the burrata pizza, half pepperoni. The sauce was packed with flavor, the burrata is always a total hit, and the pepperoni cupped perfectly to hold all those rich, flavorful oils. The crust was great--charred beautifully on the edges but a little moist and wiggly in the middle, heavily reminding me of Da Michele in Napoli. They also conveniently provide red pepper flakes, oregano, and Parmesan on the side so you can fix it up to taste. The ambiance is classic and cozy. We lucked out by timing our visit right between the lunch and dinner rush, meaning we snagged a spot in their dedicated parking lot and were seated immediately with zero wait. To top it off, the service was incredibly friendly, helpful, and welcoming from the moment we walked through the door.
