Very glad I stopped in today to grab some lunch. Portions are generous, food is tasty, and atmosphere is laid back and comfortable. Waitress was super nice and chatty and friendly, down to earth. The biggest surprise of this meal was actually the side salad. Made with attention to detail, not just lettuce thrown into a bowl; actual rosemary and toasted crouton pieces, delicious balsamic dressing and fresh veggies. Wings were huge and meaty. Was only able to fit salad and wings in for lunch, so took the chicken parm grinder (in fresh baked bread I might add) home. The chicken parm grinder could have been made into more of a cohesive sandwich (melted together in the oven with more sauce instead of chicken on bread) but I'm not holding that against Vero- it actually held up better the next day made how it was. $40 for all of this food?! I've read a lot of reviews and we decided to try Vero Cucino Rustico . It definitely has a pizza place atmosphere. Not sure if it just was a bad day, but the waitress wasn't very welcoming. We ordered the prosciutto wrapped figs for an appetizer. The figs were very dry and over cooked . I had New York Strip for dinner it was just ok nothing special. My husband had the chicken marsala which was very good. The chicken was moist sauce was very tasty pasta done perfectly. I wouldn't say the pasta was homemade. Overall, I would just say it was just (OK ).Next time, I'll definitely try the pizza. It looks delicious. read more

We came here for lunch on Valentine's Day. Over -dry prosciutto wrapped figs arrived after forty five min. The house salad was fresh. Waitress (there was only the one for the whole dining room--a room that could really use a facelift if the restaurant means to live up to all the hype ct magazine generated) was inattentive. She was also having to multi-task. One couple left as we sat and waited, as they hadn't received any attention at all after twenty minutes. We also split an order of linguini and clams. It took almost an hour to get our food. 1 meal (stuffed fillet of soul) was cold and the other (shrimp scampi) was all watery. Sent fillet back and still wasn't hot. I ordered the chicken marsala, and it was perfection -- a generous portion of tender, flavorful chicken cooked just right. My son enjoyed the steak sandwich with peppers and onions, served on fresh homemade bread with the perfect crust -- hearty, loaded with meat, and absolutely delectable. My husband ordered the pasta with broccoli, garlic, and oil, and it was fantastic -- full of flavor and cooked to perfection. He also tried the lemon drop martini, which was to die for! Even though we were completely full, the dessert selection was too tempting to resist. We took some home, and they were just as delicious the next day. Ambiance: The restaurant has a good location with easy parking, which is definitely a plus. The interior is divided into two main dining areas: one on the left for regular dining and another on the right that includes a bar. The decor and table placement are decent and practical, though nothing particularly fancy or memorable. Overall, it offers a comfortable enough setting for a casual meal. Service: Despite the restaurant not being busy, the service was slower than expected. Though we didn't have to wait that long for our appetizers, our entrees came out after more than 40 minutes. The server was friendly and made an effort to engage with us which I appreciated. However, there were a couple of things that could be improved. First, when asking if we wanted a salad, she phrased it casually enough that it sounded like it was included with the meal. Not everyone enjoys salads, so it would be better if the server clarified that it's an additional order. Second, the repeated offer for drinks, asked about three times or maybe more, felt a bit pushy. I understand it might have been a way to fill the long wait time for the entrees, but once or twice would have been sufficient. Food: I can only comment on my dish and the one ordered by the person next to me. I ordered the shrimp scampi and unfortunately, it was quite watery. There was enough liquid at the bottom of the plate to fill about a quarter of a 16 oz. glass, which made the linguine bland and the sauce lacking in flavor. It could really use a thicker, richer sauce to hold everything together. I had to add a lot of Parmesan cheese and chili flakes to make it more flavorful. On the positive side, the shrimp itself was cooked fine, and the portion size was decent. The person next to me ordered the lobster ravioli. The sauce was thick but grainy, and while it did have a hint of lobster flavor, there weren't many actual lobster pieces in it. The presentation looked good, but the texture and flavor balance could definitely be improved. My Overall Impression: This restaurant has potential... it's in a convenient location, has a comfortable atmosphere, and pretty friendly staff. However, the slow service and inconsistent food quality need improvement. I'm leaving this review in hopes that it helps the restaurant refine its service and enhance the quality of their dishes, because with a few adjustments, it could be a much better dining experience. read more

Just a heads up if you order online through their website it states that they will notify you when your delivery leaves. We got 0 notices and the delivery was left on our porch, no doorbell ring or anything. We were sitting in the living room while our food was sitting on the cold floor outside. Understandable if you order DoorDash but not when you order directly through a company especially if it says they will notify you, although a doorbell ring would have been suffice. I chose this place for our company event and honestly it was the best decision! First of all, Taso worked so well to make all the food choices perfect. He gave recommendations on what was most popular. The food was INCREDIBLE! It tasted like we were ordering per dish, not for a big party. Plus, it was a beautiful display! We had charcuterie, lemon caper chicken, eggplant rollatini, stuffed mushrooms, penne a la vodka, and salad. The hall they have there is SO nice! They can even change the lighting to whichever color you wanted. We got do our company color! To top everything off, Talia and Kate worked the party and were also incredible. I am a little amazed when I visit a restaurant where people have given 5 star reviews and I can barely give them 4 stars. I read about 50 of the reviews and clearly this place doesn't deserve the 5 star reviews. That is the problem with the whole review process, 5 stars are handed out too easily. The food was mostly good. 3 of 4 meals. My chicken parm was burned beyond recognition. The manager made good on it but as I read all the reviews, over cooked chicken is a theme here. What's the deal? Here is an idea - explain to the chef how to fry chicken! The portions are big and you cannot beat the prices. You get a lot for your money. I am thinking about giving it another try, but the very large number or poor reviews is making me hesitant. read more

Six geezers walked into a restaurant. Yes, it was also a bar, and yes, this is a review, not a joke. For the first ten minutes, we took turns badgering the server for seating that was compatible with our failing eyesight and diminished hearing, wandering around the place like Goldilocks on various medications. Our server, Kimberly, treated us with the patience and respect of someone used to caring for their favorite grandparent. Finally settled, we were promptly served ice water and crisp, warm bread. Our orders included eggplant Parmesan, grilled salmon, house salad w/grilled chicken, and Caesar salad w/salmon. One of us ordered a glass of wine ...unfortunately (for both the restaurant and us), our public partying days are in the past. Everything was excellent: the quality and portion size of every dish, the friendly, competent, patient service, the ambiance. I have only one negative thing to report about Vero Cucino Rustico: It is located further away from our home than my wife and I would like. Our first time here. Came because of their mention in Connecticut Magazine and we weren't disappointed. First that came out was a basket of steaming freshly baked bread and our drinks. Kimberly makes a great martini; cold and a full glass. Started with a chef salad and a shrimp and corn chowder. The portions of our entrees (broccoli rabe and sausage and a bolognese on spaghetti) were extremely generous and we both took home leftovers that will probably last two more meals. In search of new restaurant, I haven't been to before, I trusted Yelp & it did not disappoint. Dined at Vero for dinner & sat in the Dining room (there are two sides). The Hostess sat us immediately, & we were brought waters & a basket of bread. I liked that all ingredients to make the classic Italian dipping oil was readily available on the table. In my opinion, the bread was really hard & tough. Not enough where we made a fuss or didn't eat it though. Our dinners were Vero Chicken & Norwegian Salmon entrees. The portions were generous & hot. No sitting under a heating lamp here. My salmon was cooked to a perfect medium & was absolutely delicious. Juicy from the edges to the middle. I don't know if I have knowingly consumed Norwegian Salmon before, but now, it's a favorite. The sheer size alone, won me over. A definite first for me was the tarragon risotto. I'm used to a creamy or cheesy risotto, but this had me intrigued. It was sticky consistency, but not dry. The tarragon wasn't over powering. Vero has a good amount of desserts as well. We chose the oreo mousse cake & cannolis for the ride home. We couldn't pass those up since it's an Italian restaurant. The cake didn't have a chance with our sweet tooths. The cannolis didn't make it home. Everything here, including costs exceeded our expectations & we talked about the experience days later. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst dining experiences I've had in a long time. The Chicken Marsala was overcooked, burnt, and greasy -- completely inedible. It had no flavor at all. And the bread .. the BREAD!!! Freshly-baked from scratch, served warm with butter .. I could've devoured an entire loaf. The owner told us they make it from scratch using non-GMO flour .. it almost brought a tear to my eye, it was so good. I'll be dreaming about it for a long time. Time to update my review. We have been back to Vero many times since I wrote my original review, mostly for pizza. Their pizza is great, my type of pizza with a thin crust, good sauce and tasty toppings. They are also currently running a 3 course prix fixe special for $24.99. We also went for happy hour recently (which they have on the weekends!) and there were a lot of great specials for $5. Service is also friendly and they have the BEST carrot cake around. Having a gluten allergy makes it impossible to enjoy pizza anymore. Except I heard about this place with their gluten free pizza with a cauliflower crust and had to try it. It ROCKS!!! Seriously the BEST gluten free pizza hands down! And then I tried the gluten free chocolate cake, and another . Could not believe it was gluten free- absolutely delicious!! Ordered a medium rare burger for lunch. Arrived at medium well, so I asked for another menu item. Waitress was clearly unhappy. Said they had " temped it " in the kitchen as medium to medium well, so "it should have been perfect." Upset that they " lost $20 on that burger." Yes they did, by overlooking it. Order a cheesesteak got home to find out it was raw, looked like it had potential though! No big deal, had my wife call so I can run by and get one that's cooked.... Could hear the cook in the background of the call screaming about how it is perfectly cooked (I asked for medium) and they won't remake that or anything else for me. Only refund. So I guess that was the first time I got refused service somewhere which is..... neat. Got lucky enough to get to ask the angry cook about it in person when I came to get my refund (paid with a gift card) who suddenly had a whole new attitude and many excuses. Apparently they will be taking this item off the menu because they "can't temp it right" ect ect and it's not that he just wouldn't make me a new one, but they won't be selling any more of them to anyone. Ya. Right. The rest of the food on the order was extremely bland. Grabbed something from McDonald's quick since they wouldn't serve me any edible food, but least McDonald's knows how to cook the food they sell!
