This was hands down the best experience I have ever had at a Verizon store. After having a terrible week, my screen broke on my phone. Not only that it was the day before my best friend's wedding. We stopped in there to see what they could do for me. I knew when I went in there I didn't have an upgrade any time soon! Joel and the manager Christian were beyond amazing!! They were able to let me upgrade early. I was able to get a brand new phone with a case and they even included a portable charging pack! I live in Chicago and no one ever acts like they care. Joel and Christian were so great. Their customer service was totally appreciated! They saved the day and we had a blast at the wedding! read more

I have to give a 1 star review due to very poor customer service. I had no issue waiting for an available associate to provide assistance, I was a walk-in and I expected a wait. But once I had received help my experience took a turn for the worse. I wanted to factory reset a phone I received(SG23 Ultra) after my father's unexpected passing. I wanted to then transfer the data from my current phone (Pixel 7)to the SG23. Then have the SG23 setup as my phone. The associate proceeded to transfer the data without the reset. After getting the transfer to work I was told it would be about 10 minutes, after 10 minutes passed the transfer was about 30% done. So the associate said it would take 30 minutes. This was no problem. As I waited 3 of the employees were gathered at the front of the store discussing who gets to leave early, loudly. After about 40 minutes the transfer was complete. I waited for the employee to return and I looked around the store and I could not find them. I waited and as 2 other employees were walking to the front of the store I raised my hand and signaled for assistance they ignored me and proceeded out of the front of the store. The only remaining associate, who had been busy with multiple customers the whole time, was in no position too help me. So I waited some more. After about another 45 minutes of waiting and the only remaining employee helping all of the customers I had to gather my phones and charger and left without completing the phone setup. I had to get the assistance for completing the swap elsewhere, not verizon. To me it looked like the entire store had the attitude of minimal help sans the 1 guy helping everyone doing all of the work. These stores are customer service based and that was lacking. The employee just abandoned the customer without saying a word and no one else stepped up to assist either. In my opinion the employee should be terminated and the others reprimanded. I am seriously considering changing to another carrier when I want to get a new device. I have been a verizon customer for a long time and was disheartened by the worst assistance I have ever received. I would rather go to the DMV than another verizon store.​ It was more important to leave early than to do their job, at minimum I could have been told the employee is leaving for the day and someone will help when they are available. Shameful lack of professionalism. I can only think this is how verizon thinks the customers should be helped, since this was allowed to happen. There were at least 6 employees at one time and no one cared to help after the guy helping me left. read more

Called in customer service to add an additional line to my business & upgrade all of our phones. They couldn't process over the phone and recommended I goto a store. Went in spent near 2 hours there. Then they stalled / cancelled my order Spent multiple hours on the phone / supposedly resolved, got an email this evening that there is another stall Blah blah blah Between fees, upgrade costs, activation, cases over $1000.00 in and zero help. The service was really good. I had an issue with my phone however since it was under warranty the guy offered to get me a new one with overnight shipping. According to Fed Ex, it's not arriving until tomorrow which is three days past when he said it would come. I tried calling customer service and they directed me to a live texting chat then the robot hung up on me. So I tried asking the person in the chat to have someone call my number and he said someone would be right with me... 10 minutes later and no one called or messaged back despite several attempts to reach out to them. So I called again and waited on hold for 20 minutes before giving up and just hanging up the phone. Called again today and waited on hold for another 5 minutes with no luck. Update: after being reached out to by the owner I wanted to improve my review and also say that the service at this Verizon is really great. read more

Came in here to get two new Google Pixal XL phones. They couldnt get them activated after hours so we left and went with someone else. Two weeks later i get a ca from Verizon saying this location is attempting to open a account in my name. I come in and they deny it. Two weeks later I get a bill for $350 from them with two new contracts. They stole my personal info, opened accounts in my name and now wont close them them for me. This place is a personal information fraud nightmare. I highly suggest you stay away from this location and the people that work there. read more

Absolutely horrible customer service. I've been here twice, and both times, the male employees were rude and unhelpful. Maybe it's because I'm a girl and they're taught to pair male sales rep with female customers, and vice versa. I don't know if Verizon trains their sales reps to use hard-sell, bullying tactics, but it was very unappreciated, especially when one sales rep told me yesterday that they charge a $30 fee for transferring my old contacts to my new Samsung Galaxy S3 ROFL! He said that it's been part of their policy since 2007, which seemed like plain bs--last year, my brother had broken his phone, had bought a new one online, and had gotten his contacts list transferred to his new phone at this same location for free. I wanted to get that in writing, along with his name, but then he backtracked afterwards saying that he'll do it for free. For upgrading your contract, just go to Walmart or Bestbuy. Much, much friendlier & overall better service. Walmart had iphone5's priced at $128 since December ($200-250 at Verizon). Their Samsung Galaxy S3's were $98 ($200 at Verizon). Bestbuy pricematches. A Walmart employee helpfully told me this when their system ran into an error during our transaction. read more

Our experience at this store was disappointing. We walked in to buy a new iPhone this morning and wanted to understand the differences in features and price between models. Two aspects of our experience here stood out as extremely negative. 1. None of the models were labeled with any information, leaving us to rely on the sales representative to walk us through what we were looking at. 2. The sales rep could not have been less interested in helping us. Rattled off the names of different models and that's about it. When he left we were left to guess again what the models were, which were newer/older, and GOOGLED the differences between them. Should have gotten the rep's name because I wouldn't have him working in my store. Ended up going to the Best Buy down the street where all info and pricing was displayed by the phones and the sales rep gave us in-depth info on each model. read more

I went to this Verizon store looking for a tablet. I have never owned one before, so was not sure what to get. Upon entering the store, I was approached by a young woman who then spent the time finding out what I would use the tablet for. She showed me my options, explaining the pros and cons regarding my expected use, and I left with an LG tablet. I love it, and found her to be extremely helpful. The store was busy, but I felt her attention was focused only on me and making sure I got what I wanted. I would highly recommend this store to anyone. read more

Did anyone else know that you could have kept your unlimited data plan if you had either purchased a phone at retail from Verizon (with the option to pay over 12 months) or if you purchased a phone from a 3rd party and just switched phones. This was NEVER explained to me when I upgraded all 4 of my phone lines and Verizon is refusing to own up to their deception all as a way to get more money from me. Nobody at this store ever told me this, actually the opposite is true, I was told the plan was no longer available to anyone. I've done some research and found I can switch to T-Mobile who will save me $ 100.00 a month with UNLIMITED data that doesn't throttle plus they will give me up to $ 300.00 credit on each of our trade in's AND they'll pay our ETF's. Be warned - They will lie to you and do it with a smile on their faces. read more

Recently went to upgrade my wife's phone. After spending 30 minutes waiting after checking in (which was unreasonable with only a few other customers present) we gave the sales associate our information and phone to exchange. Walking away without explanation of what he was doing, we were left to ponder. After 5 minutes he came back and gave us our new phone while he began the process of wiping our old phone for an exchange. We ran into many issues starting our phone up, which wouldn't have been a problem had the sales associate been there to help remedy the issues. But alas, he was no where to be found. After going back and forth a few times finding him, having him say it's working, then leaving again, we just wanted to leave. We left with assurance that our phone would be working once we returned home. After spending three hours on the phone with customer service that night, the phone still isn't activated, something that would have been taken care of had we been given proper service and attention the previous day. I advise to do what I have already done: go away from Verizon and switch to AT&T. Better customer service and supreme value read more

We went in to replace a phone and ended lowering our plans, upgrading 2 phones and finding out that I received a discount on my account through my work.....long story short we walked out as very satisfied customers. This was hands down the best experience I have ever had with Verizon. Erik went out of his way to try and save my phone and he gave me all my options (including buying a phone from another store.) Once we decided to upgrade, he gave us the best options. We left the store with a lowered bill, a new device, and many extras. I would absolutely go again but I live out of state. read more

I visited the Verizon store yesterday thinking it would be a quick fulfillment for an online order. Walked into the store, spoke to Scott and heard the last thing I wanted to hear: "there's a small problem with the order". Not worth the details right now, but the net-net is this: Scott and his team explained what happened, how to resolve it, and stuck with it until it was right. I had been at the Wheaton Verizon and they had been very rude and not very helpful. My daughter told me to try the one she goes to in South Elgin because she said they are great. So I went in there and was pleasantly surprised with their customer service. They were more than happy to help me and solve my issue way beyond what I thought they could do. If you like EXTREME upselling then this is the place for you. I felt like I was trying to buy a car. Came in because my Samsung had died (display only) and decided to buy an iPhone to go with my home Mac. No help whatsoever regarding data transfer - can't be done and I was out of luck with any contact info transfer. The guy waiting on me pushed me to buy an iPad and I initially said yes because there's a 14 day return period. However, there's a $35 restocking fee, which he said he'd waive - I finally caved. Then he pushed me to buy insurance for $13/month which I declined. Then a 2nd sales person comes over to explain that I really really need to buy it and why - I declined. #2 left. When I said I wanted to just pay for the phone #2 returned to explain that I wouldn't have to pay sales tax if paid over 2 years through Verizon (like I'm so stupid I don't get that Verizon will have my business for the next 2 years as well...). Upon checkout he tried to sell me an Apple watch, which I had to decline 3 times. Then the store manager comes over to tell me to buy the more expensive iPad case and why. She finally left and I told them to get rid of the iPad completely. If it weren't for IT where I work I think I'd have thrown the phone through a window. And to top it off, the sales person had onion breath. Ridiculous experience. I will say that a friend really likes the customer service at this story - I had a very different experience. read more

We have been going to this Verizon location since it opened quite a few years ago and never had a problem until now. Yesterday, my son and I went to upgrade actually 3 iphone 4S phones that were all due for upgrades. We wanted to use their trade program ( $200) per phone towards new iphone 6's which were $299 each. The manager did not handle our concerns and simply wanted to sell us The Edge plan. Our current bill for 3 phones averages $200 / month. He had our bill with The Edge up to $319/ month for the same service. I told him from the onset, we were not interested in The Edge. He insisted repeatedly hebwas "saving me money". I kept going back to wanting to trade my phone in, which he said was in " pristine" condition. He remarked that while they think it was worth $200 the final decision on trades comes from the warehouse and they could deny our trades or say the screen had damage? WHAT? So, we are supposed to send 3 iphone 4S phones to their warehouse and MAYBE they will honor their promotion to give $200 for excellent condition 4S phones? I told him, to forget the while thing and we'd either be switching carriers or i'd be visiting a different Verizon store. This manager totally didn't listen to my needs, did not value that we'd been with Verizon for 13 years, and was insulting. He acted like he didn't care if we walked out. We wanted to renew our contract and purchase 3 iphone 6 phones, plus accessories. He wanted to sell The Edge...period. Oh, and to make matters worse he then tried to sell me a random Android tablet after i told him we owned 3 ipads. Long story short, i came home frustrated, disgusted at how we were treated. Called Verizon 800 and within minutes purchased 3 iphone 5 S's...no trades involved and the very polite rep, waived all upgrade fees ($30 each phone). He was a delight and apologized profusely for the awful treatment we received in the store. We will have our new phones next week. I do not know what has happened to the S. elgin location, but i'd stay far far away. They are concerned with pushing The Edge and Android products and are simply rude to good loyal Verizon customers. read more

I wished I would of reviewed this site YELP prior to my visit to this store location. The most UNPROFESSIONAL store I have ever been in. I was being helped by someone whom refused to admit that there was something wrong with the volume on my NEW phone. When trying to explain the issue I was having, she kept saying that she could hear, and that she will just order me a new one, if "I" feel there is a problem. I couldn't believe that she was so Obtuse about admitting that there was indeed a problem. Just for the heck of it, I asked if I could listen to HER phone. There was an incredible difference in volume. She was again, Obtuse in saying that she will order me a replacement - but she did not see any problem. If that wasn't bad enough, while I was waiting for this Horrible Person to assist me in my problems, the staff sitting at the reception desk in the back, were so busy playing around, that I almost forgot I was IN a place of business. Then another customer came in, and the gal at the reception desk came walking out to meet him, and her additude was just horrible. Her greeting was, in my eyes, very short and she was doing this person a FAVOR by coming out to see what he wanted. We purchased our new phones, from the Verizon store in the Rockford area. The man that helped us was so pleasant, helpful, and knowledgeable. Kudo's to him and to the store. I am soooo ticked off by this woman in the South Elgin store, I am going to place a phone call today, and speak with the manager. WOW, from now on, I think I will review YELP more frequently. Had I known that this store has received bad reviews, I would of chose to go to the Rockford location and totally skipped this horrible experience. Beware of this store of Nonprofessionals. Although all of these reviews are negative, I actually had a good experience here. The lady who helped me out was Monica. I would definitely recommend asking for her when you go to this store. I came in looking for a power pack, at the time I didn't know what it was called when I walked in. I was first brought to the Mophie(what I was describing), which I had previously from when my bf bought me one from his carrier(Sprint). I told her I would, but mine would break a lot, and she didn't lie to me like the people at Sprint, who said it was better than the otterbox(which was a lie), she told me hers broke a lot too. Anyways, after I said that wasn't exactly what I was looking for and I told her the price, she knew exactly what I was looking for! I also didn't have a USB cord for my phone because the ones Apple makes are so cheap, so she found me an awesome 6 foot USB cord, rather than the foot cord that apple sells you for like $30 that is so flimsy!! She also found me a stand that was half price. With the 3 things I got, it ended up bundling it for me!! I would have ended up spending about $130 with tax. I ended up spending $90, with tax included!! She was very helpful and one of the best customer service I have ever had! read more

I hate posting bad reviews because most reviews online are negative but, i felt this horrible experience should be noted for the unsuspecting. This is one of the worst stores for Verizon. I have been with Verizon for 12 years as their service is one of the best. I have always had good results speaking to reps by phone to correct issues, or changes services. I made the mistake of buying an iPad at the so.elgin store recently and purchased some accessories for the iPad but, then decided I didn't need all of them. I tried to return them unused still in the box, with the receipt and the manger kept relating she would not accept the return. This was an expensivd case ($100.)and she was like endless loop tape recorder and was not only rude, but, ignorant of longtime customers and how Verizon usally does a lot of problem solving and used to be customer service oriented. Most of the associates at this location also are not very skilled in product knowledge either a reflection also of poor management or laziness. I will never shop here ever again and this is not my first bad encounter with this store. I may even consider switching carriers since they don't seem to give a crap about customers and service. I am not sure how this store even makes its retail numbers with such poor service having been in retail myself. GO ELSEWHERE !! Recent contact from Verizon headquarters--- I edited this review because as of today a Verizon CR contacted me personally to and has offered a fair compromise based on my experience with this store. I feel this is a fair gesture only wishing the manager had made an offer to assist me and be as helpful rather then forcing me to contact corp. hq. I will continue to deal by phone or email to resolved any issues in the future. They are always more helpful then this store so I will still continue to avoid this store in the future and the disrespectful manager there. I would suggest anyone contact Verizon by phone or online rather than try and deal with the store. read more

This is the first time I've ever reviewed anything other than a restaurant on Yelp but I had such a good experience, I felt compelled to do so. I was due for an upgrade so I went into the store to see about moving from an iPhone 5 to an iPhone 6s. I worked with Mike and he started crunching numbers with a calculator immediately. I initially thought he was going to come back and try to sell me on some expensive package or a bunch of things I didn't need. But, he was actually trying to work out the upgrade so my monthly bill didn't change. I walked out of the store that night with a brand new phone, the same monthly bill I had before and a bunch of neat extras. I was very pleased and would recommend him to anyone! read more

I walked in ready to sign up 2 lines after 11 years with my existing carrier, T-mobile. T-Mobile did not cover the area around my new house, but they had fantastic customer service and often gave me freebees like car chargers. The sales rep was great at this store, but the store manager was talking to me like I had no other choices when I asked to waive a activation fee as a courtesy. He made me feel like I was in a car dealership. Anyway, I went to AT&T and they waived the activation fee and gave me a case for my phone for free without a contract. The experience between the Verizon Store and the AT&T Store was like night and day. It is not "standard industry practice" to charge an activation fee and be on a 2 year contract. read more

When I first started with Verizon 2 years ago, the service was the best.. However the last 6 months have been nothing but disastrous, I have cancelled my phone due to a coverage issue, and have been contacted by the "Financial Services" department twice while at work, stating that my contract cancellation had been denied, and that I owed over 700 dollars.. I then presented them with the ticket number and employee numbers of the people who approved the cancellation the first time, and they stated they would note their system and the bill would be taken care of... Well today 4/16/2013 They contacted me again and started by threatening me that if I dont pay immediately that it would be turned over to collections office. They then attempted to bully me into paying a bill that I do not owe.. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH VERIZON WIRELESS. They are horrible and do not respect their customers any more. read more
