I went there on Saturday with my 85-year-old Mom, looking to upgrade her iPhone 8, and he was accommodating. He answered our questions immediately and made some suggestions since the iPhone 12 I was going to get for her wasn't available.
Saturday night, I decided to go ahead and get her the iPhone 13 because she loves her iPhone and uses it every day and let's face it, at age 85, she deserves to have anything that makes her happy. I ordered the phone online, and when I got the email, I headed over there with her the next day, which was her birthday. Dan was busy helping another customer, so we got a young girl, Julissa. She was very friendly at first, but when she went to get the phone and returned, her attitude changed when I explained that Mom had an old iCloud account that we couldn't access, and I needed to make sure she could transfer her contacts.
At first, she said there was no way. I asked if the AT&T transfer app would help (mind you, I don't have AT&T or an iPhone, so I was trying to help HER). She wasn't sure, and my Mom started worrying and said she should keep her phone. I told Mom not to worry, that we would figure it out, and she wouldn't have to manually re-enter all her numbers as the young girl suggested.
I even suggested that we could get Mom a new iPhone FOR FREE if I added her to my Verizon plan if AT&T couldn't help.
We ended up creating a new apple ID for Mom, which was fine, and we even managed to save her contacts, which is all she was worried about. When it was done, the young girl handed me the phone. I asked her if the contacts were transferred, and she said yes, and she left. Not another word, no offer to show my 85-year-old Mom any of the phone's new features, didn't ask if we needed anything, just left, disappeared into the back, and left us there.
So I sat there for a few minutes, showed my Mom some things, and restored her Facebook account, which she loves to use to keep track of the photos of her grandkids.
I realized we needed a charging block and went to find her one but couldn't find anyone to ring it up for me. I finally asked if anyone was available to help and Dan, who was busy with another customer, immediately found someone to help me. The person he got had been sitting nearby looking at his phone and wouldn't have moved otherwise.
I was really turned off by the whole experience, except for Dan, who was the only helpful employee in the store.
I told my Mom I would never bring her back to this store, and at this point, if she ever needs another phone, I will add her to my Verizon plan because I've always had good service at the Verizon stores.
Kudos to Dan for being a polite and hard-working person. Thank you for helping me and my Mom, Doris. As for the rest of the employees, they need to work on their etiquette and customer service. I won't be back there.
Maybe you should give Dan a big promotion and get him a staff that he can train to be as helpful as he is, just a thought...
