I actually had no idea there was a Verizon Wireless in Charlottesville until a friend told me. I was actually about to drive 2 hours back to NoVa to hit the Fair Oaks Verizon. Anyways, I'm happy I found this place and I was quite surprised at how large the store was especially in Charlottesville. After reading the negative review, I wasn't expecting much when I walked in, I just wanted my phone activated and my contacts transferred from my old phone to my new one. To my surprise, not only was the customer service rep helpful and friendly, she even helped me package up my old phone so that I could just drop my old phone off at Fedex on my way back home. I was super happy at how quick the service was especially since I was slightly hungover from the night before and didn't want to be dealing with rude people... This will definitely be my go-to place if I have any problems with my phone. I am only giving 4 stars b/c I would like to see how their service is if I were to have any problems w/ my BB (i've been a little spoiled by the Fair Oaks Verizon in giving me replacements w/out insurance) so I'm going to wait & to see how their service compares :) read more

They over charged me for 5 moths, they carged me for two phones and only one was not in use. It was froze and even the employess in waynesboro could fix it. I told them in December of 2025 to turn it off, again in January ---------------to April of 2026. Each month I called I promised they would have it disconnected. It was a dead phone and it could not be fixed. So around April the 3rd I told them AGAIN, DISCONNECT MY CELL, even though I paid them again and it was not due until April 23, I told them to disconnect my other cell also. I di not need their business. What a rip off. From December 2025 to April I was paying for two phones and only one worked. I feel like they just stole $540.00 from me but they don't care . Called Verizon repeatedly for an overcharge on my phone I kept being told would be removed. Finally was told to go in person to have this resolved . Waited well over an hour /hour and a half after being told I was "second in line" at time of check in. The people at the store were kind and doing their best so this review is not on them by any means/I know they can only do so much and at least they helped connect me with Verizon and even got on the phone to explain the overcharge I kept seeing/but lady on the Verizon end was a very rude person- finally admitted we were being overcharged and took off the fee. Not apologetic just rude. I can't wait to switch carriers *edit to add that when I came home I decided to check into my account and see if this was indeed corrected and it still was not! I had to get into the chat and threaten I would file a complaint and magically it finally was corrected and I was credit back the overcharge. Worst customer service ever and this is not the first time. Verizon contacted me about making an appointment to discuss an upgrade. Foolish me. I assumed that meant they wanted our business. I made the appointment and went in at the designated time but the greeter could not find the appointment in the system. He assured me however I would "be next." The greeter proceeded to chat with another agent and his customer for over fifteen minutes as I waited. There were very few people in the place. The place was nearly empty and several employees were not visible engaged with customers. I grew increasingly perplexed. When my time for deliverance was at hand, Mike finally came over. He was a pleasant fellow who had clearly no interest in helping me sort through the complications of our account. He also was very clear that he was happy to see me take my four phone line elsewhere. When I called customer service on the phone, I also found out that Mike had given me misinformation. Also as I was trying to wring information from Mike, I was startled to see two young women come in and the greeter drop everything to scurry around after them. I never got to the point of discussing the new iPhone I wanted to purchase. Why would I continue to do business with folks who are neither capable nor kind? Apparently Verizon is so big that the stores do not have to worry about customer service. Was not too busy and still took 40 minutes to be helped, and when the manager finally helped me she barley spoke to m, simply gesturing at me when she needed my password and eventually told me it wasn't working when I had no idea what was going on. I have been a Verizon customer for over 23 years, which in the cell phone world is a lifetime. As a loyal customer for all of those years, I expect to be treated in ways that value my loyalty versus a brand new customer who has no history with this money grubbing company. Instead, their offers are specifically designed to force you as a customer into some sort of upgrade, even when you don't need it or want it. A perfect example is making you pay for unlimited data even when your current usage is less than 2 GB per month. I am so underwhelmed by them, and I want encourage anyone reading this review to shop carefully for your carrier, but be forewarned. If you choose Verizon you will have to settle for a truly second rate company that doesn't respect or value you as a customer. They deserve to lose business!! read more

At Verizon on Rio Rd, I had one of the worst customer service experiences of my life. To be specific, the woman helping me was "Lindsey" and I came into the store because I had lost my Verizon phone recently and wanted to replace it. Lindsey was condescending from the get-go and found it impossible to understand how someone could be so dense as to have trouble grappling with the obscure and illogical fees and cell phone contract rules. She would tell me things like, "you are not the account holder and, therefore, you cannot buy a new phone without authorization" and "there is a pending contract change, so you will have to come back tomorrow to buy your new phone," expecting me to accept these statements with no apology and no effort to explain.There are about 4 different prices listed on the plackets next to each phone and I was also dealing with rebates and a mysterious $20 extra charge to replace my phone. Lindsey explained these ridiculous Verizon customs rapidly, firing out various numbers and dates as if it all made perfect sense, and, when I asked her to explain again she sighed and said, impatiently, "I have already explained this to you two times!" She was dismissive of my questions and had an air of derision about her for our entire exchange. Basically, I found myself apologizing to her for taking up her time and making her talk to me longer than she felt necessary. I, the paying customer, willing to submit to the whims of this cell phone service conglomerate, was being badgered by a woman whose paycheck is, in theory, largely dependent on her ability to relate affably to customers. Have been at this location multiple times over the past few weeks before upgrading my phone - it was at least as bad as my most frustrating trips to the DMV. Not sure if it's just that Verizon as a whole doesn't have their shit together, or if it's the people they hire. I visited this store in the hope they could fix a problem with my New IPad Mini 4 that was caused by an incompetent employee at the Apple Store. I needed to swap my Verizon SIM card. I was greeted as soon as I walked in and handed off to Doug, a technician. Doug was great. He took care of the problem quickly and also made some improvements to my IPad. Waste of time (and money) I came to the store and waited about 30 minutes for somebody to work with me. I was trying to restore prepaid service on my iPad. One girl who was really nice worked with me for about 30 minutes but she was not very helpful. Instead, she offer to sell me new service for twice as much money. At the end she gave me a phone number of customer service to try to restore my account. So,overall I spent 1 hour of my time with no solution. Kudos to the manager of the Verizon retail store. I went back and requested that the manager assist in my situation. She was professional, patient and concerned about my prior experience. She took the time to ask what happend, researched the issue and made sure that I was on the right track to obtaining the correct phone for my needs. She then turned me over to a sales associate who easily picked up with the situation and finalized the process for me. I now have a phone that I am hopeful to meet the needs as expressed to them. Came in today (July 13, 2013). Store was busy but not swamped. Guy at door with tablet took my name and said someone would be with me shortly; two people ahead of me. While waiting for about 10 minutes, saw two people wandering around with other tablets not servicing anybody. During the last two minutes, one woman came from a back room, leaned on a work station and chatted with another employee. I finally approached the guy at the door and told him my observations. Immediately, one of the people wandering around with a tablet came up and said he was the manager. I told him how I'd been waiting and watching employees not help me or anyone else. Instead of apologizing and saying he'd be glad to help me, he told me everyone was indeed busy and I would be--again--helped shortly; if I couldn't wait, I could leave. I then said I work in a service industry, and from my perspective, they were failing to provide decent customer service. So I left. I work at a winery that is absolutely flooded with visitors. We make it a point to always communicate with each guest to make sure they're being helped. And if we're between tasks--even as a manager--we offer to help them. read more

I will NEVER go back to this location! Worst customer service I have EVER experienced. My husband and I went into the location on Rio Rd and were ignored by 4 different employees. They looked at us and then looked away and didn't bother to ask if we had been helped yet. We waited about 15 minutes until I decided to just walk up to an employee. I let them know that we had our phones and needed to activate them. The girl was like "oh you haven't been signed in yet?" I said no. She was like well it will be a like a half hour so I will get you signed in. I wanted to tell her that we had already been there a bit and was ignored by not only her but 2 other employees even the employee that we bought our phones from. We were finally helped but found out that we may not get the phone credit for turning in our old phones because the original employee didn't tell us important information :( FRUSTRATING)!!!! Our info was passed on to corporate but the next person that had helped us was supposed to call is with an update but never did so we called. Hopefully it gets taken care of now. When I called I was put on hold for a half hour then someone came to the phone and thought I was someone else then was like oh sorry someone will be right with you and then put me back on hold :( I hung up and called back to speak with a manager which she was helpful to an extent but all she told me is that we had been added to a list. Terrible. I have been an Alltel customer for over 10 years and came to expect good service from the company, especially with regards to the warranties on the phones, which I have had for the last 4 to 5 years. I always was able to go into the store and get it taken care of. Not with Verizon. They told me nothing they could do in store, there was a limit to the about that was covered ($400) when I had a $500+ phone, and it could only be replaced twice per year. I was told none of this upfront when I renewed my contract in June. I spoke to the Store Manager, who provided the WORST customer service I have ever seen. I work in retail, and I can't believe he still has a job after the attitude that was shown towards me. I asked for his district managers number, but have yet to be able to get ahold of him. This is a long review, but please read it. In my experience with the store's manager, Steve Nelson, I was treated with extreme disrespect. He showed a definite lack of professionalism that one would expect to see from a manager. It is appalling that a manager can react in such a rude manner, refusing to resolve the issue of a concerned customer, and refusing to accept responsibility for the actions of his sales representatives. I visited this Verizon store in order to trade in my iPhone 4 and buy an iPhone 5. They were making $120 trade-in offers for the old iPhone 4, so I figured it was a good time to trade up. Well, they don't transfer pictures in the store so I asked if I could buy the 5, take it home, make sure it gets all my pictures and apps from the 4, and then bring the 4 in and trade it in. The sales rep said that was fine. He billed my account for the price of the 5, screen protectors, and case. I went home, got the iPhone set up, and went back to the store to get the trade-in credit added to my account. Well, I get a call later that day from the manager explaining that since my bill is paid using "One Bill" (the Verizon wireless, internet, fios, etc is all on one bill) then they cannot apply my trade-in credit to my bill and all they can give me is basically store credit. What do I need store credit for? They already billed my account and I got a case. What do I still want from them that's worth $120? Nothing. So I expressed my concern that the sales rep I talked to assured me that applying the trade-in credit to my bill was manageable and now the manager is telling me otherwise. I went to the store the next day to try to clear things up with the manager and he gave me an ultimatum of taking back the phone or accepting this $120 credit that is basically useless to me because I can't use it to pay my bill. Now, customer service told me that a gift card can be used to pay bills so I asked if I could use the store credit to buy a gift card. That's not possible apparently. It was at this point that the manager placed my old phone on the counter next to us, told me he was not going to help me anymore, and said that I could leave the phone there or take it, but he isn't going to give me any credit. At no point have I raised my voice, said anything vulgar, or made any semblance of a "scene". There was no reason for him to act this way. I was trying to figure out why I was being scammed into applying the sale of the iPhone 5 to my account with the promise that the $120 credit from the iPhone 4 would be applied to the account later and the manager simply refuses to work with me to find a resolution for his employee's mistake for which he is responsible. To add insult to injury, once I look at my phone on the counter, I noticed that my case was not on the phone. I approached the manager again and he picked up a telephone call while I waited, standing in front of him. Once he was finished I asked him where my case was, he went to the back room for another 10 minutes and came back, shoving a case into my hands, and walking on. I looked at it and saw that this, in fact, was not my case. I had to get his attention again and inform him that this wasn't my case. He told me it was and then, once again, rudely walked away from me. I was reaching my own breaking point so I left the store in disgust. So, they gave me false information, refused to help resolve the issue, and then lost my phone case. Simply the worst customer service I've ever seen. read more

July 13, 2013 I took my iPad in to Verizon wireless because I was not able to access my 4G network. A female technician with a butterfly tattooed on her right ankle took my computer and spent over an hour on it. There was only one 2 person bench to sit on and it was occupied. Customers either stood or were sitting on the 6 inch window sill. After an hour I asked if I could leave the computer and pick it up on Sunday because the store would be open then. "No, we can't take the responsibility for your computer." I had had enough and asked the door man to get my computer for me. He took it right out of the technician's hands and gave it to me. When I got home I saw that my iPad was running a slide show of my photo albums! Yes indeed the antagonistic, rude, technician had violated my privacy, she had been looking at my photos! I have been with Verizon for 12 years. Never have I been so swindled and ripped off as I have at this location. I had problems with a phone and went in to see what they could do for me. A trashy girl wearing a dress 4 sizes too small showed me a plan that was not a contract. This was great considering my contract was up and Verizon's prices are outrageous. I also got a $100 credit for my old phone and 6 gigs vs the 2 gigs I had before. Before I knew the chubby skank spent my $100 gift card on crap I didnt want or need without me even knowing. I left then realized what had happened with the gift card and the bag of crap I didnt want and then I got the bill with overages for data. It was still showing 2 gigs not the 6 I was supposed to get. I went back talked to Marquise who seemed better than the skank. He refunded the overages, called corporate and said he fixed my gigs and gave me his card. I got my next bill and still was charged for overages. I emailed him 3 times and never got a response . they are the worst! I've since left Verizon all together and would never recommend Verizon and this horrible location to anyone! read more
