Something didn't feel right, so I contacted Ken at Safe Auto Service and made an appointment. I brought the car to Safe Auto. They did a test drive and pulled the wheels apart for inspection. Ken informed me my brake pads were good and did NOT need service. He could have just as easily confirmed I needed work and charged me. An HONEST man! I now have a new repair shop going forward.

I've been coming to them for my periodic emissions testing for many years, starting when they were at their previous location. I decided that when my Nissan pickup truck needed any sort of repairs I'd bring it to them. I called a few days ago to arrange having the brakes serviced on my truck. When I called, I was greeted by a friendly voice of a young woman whe gave me a day to bring it in. On that day, I went to the service window and that young lady greeted me and said she'd give me a call later that day when they could tell me what the cost would be and when it would be completed. Later that day she phoned and told me the amount of the bill and said the job would be completed by end of the day. The price wasn't cheap (I wasn't expecting it to be), but I'm more concerned with quality & value. I told her that I arranged to pick it up the following morning, if that was ok. A little later that day she phoned once again to let me know the work was completed, just for my information. I appreciate that they communicate so well with their customers, and I'm very satisfied with the work they did. I learned just now from the owner's response that I can have my oil & filter changed while I wait, with an appointment made in advance. So I'm upping my review to five stars! I paid $300 dollars for a starter 2 weeks prior, and could not afford another $300 dollars on a tune up. Over a month later, they've come after me for the "bill they put in my car". They NEVER informed me there was a diagnosis fee OR how much that fee would be PRIOR to the diagnosis- $147! I've always recommended H&H, and have driven from New Haven just to go there. I walked into D&D today for the first time and asked him if he could program the origianal factory default values for the transmission (the fix I saw on a you tube video). He knew exactly what I was asking for, got his high end scan tool and had it done, including a test drive, in 15 minutes. My shift problem is now fixed and the transmission also seems to shift better between all six speeds. The mechanic who posted my answer on you tube, received many thank you comments, mostly from other mechanics, who wasn't aware of this option. I would recommend to go see Dave at D&D for any transmission issue. BTW: my car is 2013 Camry SE, 2.5 L, six speed A/T, 117k

The cost was reasonable and they serviced it while I waited. They did find wiring that was chewed by rodents that was not expected but had the proper parts on hand to repair and did not charge me extra labor to resolve. They seemed well organized and keep the front of the shop better than most places. I would be comfortable to bring work to them again in the future
