Wife and I were on our way to New Hampshire from North Carolina for a funeral. We noticed that our tire pressure warning light was on so we stopped to investigate and found a screw imbedded in a tire. I left my car to see if I needed a new clutch. They found I did along with myriad other problems. They told me it would add up to 3500 of repairs. I told them not to touch the car and thanks for their time. As I paid the $110 fee for looking at the car they told me that if I got work done within a month I'd have that money put towards the work. OK. The next day someone calls me in the morning and leaves a message to say that we could discuss payment or pricing plans, I honestly don't remember. Then a woman called that afternoon and left a message to get feedback the same day. I called and told them I was calling back out of courtesy to answer their questions. They asked my name and passed me on. The woman answered bewildered and when I told her I was not having work done on my car but was calling back to help she said, "OK....." and then I said, "OK, well thanks I guess." and we hung up. About an hour later someone else called me to tell me that they could possibly get it done at a cheaper price. 1.) Shady that the prices suddenly can be cheaper 2.) I don't remember having to wait more than expected for the repairs to be accomplished. They were always upfront about the timeline for repairs, and that was really appreciated because it was a hectic time for me to coordinate drop-offs or pickups if they were required. read more

Three great experiences in the past 6 months. First, transmission replaced in 3 days from unscheduled drop off, so make that 2 days. More recently quick turn around on service at a fair price. Jim and Herb were wonderful from the moment I called! My car overheated about .2 miles from their shop, I called and they asked me some questions and determined it was safe for me to drive the .2 miles to get to them! From that moment on they took great care of me and my car! They were so honest about what was worth spending money on and what wasn't and they even did some diagnostics free of charge! so many mechanics would have taken advantage of me not being from the area, but not Berkshire Motors! We took my VW Tiguan to Berkshire because the check engine light was on. When we went to pick it up that afternoon they told me it needed a new turbo and it would be $2700.00. They also told me not to drive it too far and the engine could be ruined by driving it. We don't have that kind of $ right now so my husband went on the internet to investigate and found a youtube video stating if you get a certain code with a Tiguan it is 9 times out of ten this sensor that cost us $150.00. We had a mechanic put it in for $90.00 (one hour labor) and the car runs great! Berkshire told us it would be 8 hours labor. Draw your own conclusion. read more

I used to love this place. We have old cars that we take here for service. We have come here for years. The last 2 times we needed service our cars were FILTHY when we picked them up. First time we gave them a pass. Then it happened again. Who does this? The steering wheels were brown with greasy dirt as was the dash on the drivers side...gotta put that next service sticker on the window. New employee? Ran out of soap? Never heard of latex gloves? Nothing more valuable than a trusted mechanic. The rear brakes on my 1999 Honda Accord have been squeaking. They had never been replaced so I fully expected to hear I needed new pads and perhaps new drums. To my pleasant surprise, Jim from Berkshire called to let me know the brakes were fine, they simply needed some cleaning and adjusting. He also noted the car was due for an oil change and offered to do it at a discount given the car was already on the lift. Great service. read more

Great car care center They saved me thousands. The Toyota dealership diagnosed a leaking head gasket and would have charged me a minimum of 4,000! I took it here and found it was a leaking water pump. They fixed it for much less than $1,000. The dealership also wanted close to 1,000 to replace my rear struts and BMLLC did it for much less. read more

Most recently my son had a accident with both significant front end and body damage. Berkshire fit me into their schedule within two days and not only repaired the mechanical damage they also took care off the body work as well. I have used Berkshire Motors for years and have never had a bad experience. Just the opposite, I've stopped by when I've had a minor issue and they have fixed it for free! When was the last time you had that happen? When they found something was going to take longer than expected, they gave me a ride home. My mother-in-law was getting ripped off at the service station she was using, now she drives to Sandy Hook, couldn't be happier!
