    Blue Raspberry water ice

Vera's Water Ice is a small family-owned shaved ice spot located off of Saxer. It's more of a cash-and-carry, as there are only a few stools inside and it's set-up as a small corner shop. They have regular ice cream, but some friends and I came here to grab a cup of the water ice. Flavors included mango, lemon, cherry, straw-kiwi-ban, watermelon, etc. I had a small cup of the strawberry lemonade, and the hubs had the blue raspberry. Between the two, the strawberry lemonade definitely tasted better - it was more strawberry than lemonade, though, so there wasn't much tartness to it. The water ice was definitely syrup-heavy, which I actually like; it was pretty cold and refreshing, too. I just wished I tasted some of the other flavors before deciding! There was only one employee who was running the shop, and he was very friendly and sweet. Seems like a local favorite! There's plenty of street parking around the area, including 15-minute spots. +family-owned water ice spot +few counter stools, but more cash-and-carry

So this place has been here 15 years I'm told, and no one has Yelped it? Let me take care of that. I am a bit of a water ice snob I suppose. I have favorites such as Rosati and Pop's. I tend to turn my nose up at the Rita's of the world. I decided to try this for the first time on the way home from work after driving past it for years. I'd definitely come here over Rita's. The texture is more of what I like. It's not too watery. The orange cream I ordered had a decent enough flavor. I like the options of hand dipped ice cream that could be had. I don't know if I'd put them over Rosati or Pop's in my world. But they're a worthy local choice.

You order at the counter and then a somewhat grumpy ahjumma brings you the food. :) - soy garlic fried chicken - 4/5, solid option - vegetable jeon - 3/5, little greasy for my liking - bulgogi bibimbap - 4/5, another solid option but I much prefer my bibimbap in a stone pot where the rice can get crispy but that was not what they had to offer so there was truth in advertising A bit expensive for lunch but very convenient on the Main Line plus they have a lot of cute things for purchase in the store. I'd go again to try other items from their menu and support this family owned business.

I enjoyed my dalgona coffee while watching the kdrama that was on. I've never been here so I wanted to try a few things, I got the Mul Naengmyeon and a Jeyuk Quesadilla. The soup was refreshing; I've had something similar before and enjoyed the chewy noodles and savory broth. The quesadilla had good flavor but was very greasy. I was able to eat about half using chopsticks to eat the filling out of the tortilla. Service was average. I really enjoy the overall vibe of the eatery and would like to come back with friends and maybe try the tteokbokki. Is on the pricier side for three items, I paid $49. Still very cute and would recommend though!

Service was quick and we got seated fast. I ordered the mango dessert with ice cream, sago, and pomelo, and my friend got the tiramisu. The mango dessert was amazing. Super fresh, sweet mango chunks with that natural tropical flavor, paired with creamy ice cream that melted into everything. The sago added a soft, chewy texture and the pomelo gave little bursts of citrusy bitterness that balanced the sweetness really well. It felt light but still indulgent. The tiramisu was also really good. Soft, creamy layers with a nice coffee flavor that was not too bitter, and just the right amount of sweetness. Very smooth and easy to keep eating. We stayed for a while just chatting and were not rushed out at all, which I really appreciated. Not every café lets you sit and relax like that. It is located down a slightly shady alley, but honestly it is fine, especially when it is still light out and since it is in Chinatown. Just feels a little hidden at first. Overall a really solid dessert spot. Not just mango focused, but if you love mango like I do, this place hits.

We're always getting some combination of a couple of classic desserts, a crepe, or pancake. As you'd expect, the desserts with mango are tasty and we're also partial to the ones with durian! Sweet but not too sweet, refreshing, and enough variety to keep things interesting. Toppings also had a great texture. Personal favorites are Snow White juice with durian and black rice, special mango juice sago with pomelo w/ mango ice cream, and mango and black rice. I thought the pancakes were just okay - the crepes for them had an interesting texture to me. Also, the crepes were solid, just not what I'd be coming here for. Black sesame paste soup with rice balls was also mid - the rice balls had a great chewy texture, but the black sesame felt a little lacking.
