I started to leave another voicemail and my voicemail was randomly disconnected in the middle, which was weird (also a feature many networks let you do if you preview the voicemail and decide not to proceed). So I sent a text and he called me back immediately. This part felt better honestly, finally able to talk to someone. I sent him my name and address via text, he will send me date and time options for scheduling. Later a few days later, the team texted me saying they would like pictures instead. This is Friday, July 19, 2024 per the text timestamps (can be provided for verification if needed to Yelp or anyone else). He requested pictures and was obviously not scheduling an appointment. I was not able to take the pictures immediately the same day. They were sent over approx one week later on July 27th as I had a personal emergency to prioritize. Instead of a poor quality pictures, I decided to take my time, do a detailed walk through and take two videos. I even took the time to zip it up for him and upload it to dropbox (public easy to download link, industry used for over 10+ years and intuitive). They responded by telling me that: "Your videos are not viewable. I don't believe I will be the best contractor for you. The major delay of response is not a good first sign for communication for me. Also I am not available to look at your project this week. Let alone start till mid October. I wish you the best and hope your project goes well." This is laughable, they were hard enough to get ahold of the first time, they never came out to give an estimate as agreed in first phone call and then they give me an attitude when I go out of my way to give them a detailed video instead of crappy pictures. Obviously I am proceeding with someone else, but this was a weirdly disappointing experience. This business is blacklisted and blocked in my books and they are not welcome to bid of any of my work, ever. I find it weird they have so many other 5 star reviews that contradict the experience I had so I am exercising my first amendment right to share what happened with me. P.S. I can tell team is not tech savvy with the basics when they request info from you, i.e., you cannot play a video inside a zip file, you have to unzip first.

I paid $425 for "Winterize - Water/Drains/Appliances," which included labor and antifreeze, as reflected on the invoice. The business publicly advertises services as a General Contractor and Home Builder, and I relied on those representations when hiring him, it's my second home and I informed him I was hiring him to do a full weatherization as I was told I needed to do if I wasn't returning for a long extended time . Eric Wiltse assured me he does this weatherization procedure a lot and has many clients who also own mountain home properties to assure me and gain my trust . Prior to the work, Mr. Wiltse texted to confirm that he was in his way to the property to winterize the home at 205 Hazelwood Drive, Nederland, CO. After receiving access confirmation. He later sent text that the work was finished and that he was on his way home. I relied on this text confirmations that the winterization had been completed and everything went well. When I returned to the home last month , I entered the home, I discovered there was no heat, no hot water, and no running water. , my cousin called a emergency # that comes out in the evenings . House had electricity.. no heat or hot water and I was informed by the technician it's not something they can do on this service call. It's serious damage . I called another company who would come to Nederland the next day for help to find out why there's no heat or water. Contractor arrived to inspect and diagnose the issue and determined that the winterization had been performed improperly. Pipes froze and burst throughout the home, and the boiler system was damaged and rendered inoperable . I showed them the detailed bill from Eric Weltse and they pointed out they the bill shows why everything happened . The contractor didn't do a full correct weatherization. Confirmed with the details in that bill. I trusted him to do the right thing It's nothing less than catastrophic damage and the house is not livable with no heat or hot water. I have now received professional repair estimates totaling $31,965, including extensive repiping, water heater replacement, and a boiler system replacement alone is approximately $15,000 This damage was not routine wear and tear. It has been identified as the result of improper winterization work. The scope and cost of the damage far exceed anything disclosed or reasonably anticipated. I have written communications (text messages) from Mr. Wiltse confirming travel to the property, performance of the winterization, and completion of the work. These communications are being preserved as evidence. Due to the extent of the damage and financial harm, I am in the process of filing a civil lawsuit in Colorado court within the next two weeks to recover damages related to this matter. I am sharing this experience publicly to warn others. Winterization in mountain conditions is critical, and improper work can cause catastrophic damage. Anyone considering this company should independently verify licensing, scope of work, and accountability before hiring. 12/15/2025 This is an itemized list a Licensed Contractor sent me what a legitimate Weatherization bill should look like . Not a bill that Eric Wiltse provided correct, itemized winterization invoice looks like (Boiler-heated, vacant mountain home) A legitimate winterization bill would separately itemize each system addressed. Boiler work is always listed as "Boiler" or "Hydronic Heating System" -- never buried under "appliances." Most railing companies said that they couldn't do it. MetalArc was one of the few willing to accept the challenge and the unknowns that came with it. They worked hard to understand my vision and priorities. I am very particular in what I want and don't want. They respected that and were not put off by it. They are very, very kind people. The project gave them challenges beyond their expectations, but they were patient and stuck with it each time. I am thrilled with the final result. On my end, there were a few challenges as well. I had to be extremely patient with the schedule. The project was bid at a flat rate, however, they increased it when they had a better understanding of the project. This was after I was already committed and had made a large deposit. I was frustrated by that because I thought the project was clear from the beginning since I had a picture of what I wanted to replicate. The payment installments were confusing and, as things took longer, they added new installments. I had to be firm that the final installment would be paid when the project was done. They had a few employees turnover which directly impacted my project. All but one did great work; but the one caused some major hiccups as did the transitions in general. We finished the project as a team. The results are beautiful. We are on good terms. We are planning to work together again, thankfully on a much more straightforward project!
