Vera Vera Mom calls this store lol! I've been introduced to Vera Bradley initially by a friend and have been in love with it ever since. From their vibrant colorful totes to accessories that seems to have a style for every person's needs. Sadly this International Marketplace location I believe is the only storefront besides the outlet in Waikele. As I took advantage of some bites nearby I needed to walk it off and you know I had to give this place a visit...Nadine C and Angel H had beaten me to it as I had to check out their collaboration with Hello Kitty...eeeeeee!!!! The cuteness overload was quite overwhelming and it wasn't just totes but accessories, slippers, blankets are just some of the items they had and I had to put every muscle to hold back the "wants" that was pulsing through me. I did have my birthday offer but used it on other items but am so excited with this line. The Disney line is still my favorite but hello to this cutie as it certainly has brighten my day! Thank you!

Vera Bradley has also been one of my favorite places to shop especially when it was located in Ala Moana. Now, it's located in the International Marketplace in Waikiki. While it's much much smaller than before, it's quality has not changed one bit. You can also save a lot going to the one in Waikele outlet but take a chance on not getting a specialty item like Disney, Snoopy and Hello Kitty. Their products have always been well made and told different stories and each bag and pattern has a name which made it quite special. However, I'm a tad disappointed from yesterday's adventure. I had visited the night prior but was short on time and asked to place those items on hold and then I'd return in the morning. The evening staff member, Janice was kind and even offered me a 15% off my items that weren't Disney or Hello Kitty because I work in the medical field. However, I was quite disappointed because the morning staff including the manager whom I met the evening prior was totally unfriendly and did not honor what was conveyed to me. Although, she did offer me a validation sticker for parking which I did appreciate and thanked her. This is the first time I felt like a nuisance since I've collected VB over 15 years ago all across America including ALL the Disney/World Disney Parks. I've always gave them as gifts to family, friends and clients because they are special. At one point I was close to the regional manager, store manager and all the sales people. I think it's time I've shared my thoughts with corporate after all this shop is located in Waikiki and if they want the sales then they can certainly train their people to at least care for the customers willing to spend money. I rarely write poor rating reviews but I need to be honest with consumers. So sad I had to write this review and subtract 2 stars.. I'm hoping they will change.

This review is based solely on my experience with the staff during my visit today…read more I've shopped at Pink Box multiple times in the past and have never had any issues, which is why this experience was disappointing. My mom and I stopped in because she was looking for earrings. She had mentioned before that Pink Box has cute selections at reasonable prices, so we decided to browse. While she was looking at earrings and pointing out styles she liked, I was helping her look through them. For context, I don't even wear earrings since I have large gauges, so I wasn't shopping for myself in that section. Afterward, I moved over to the claw clips and was looking through some butterfly clips to see if they came in matching colors. A sales associate approached us and asked if we needed help. We politely said no thank you and continued browsing. What made us uncomfortable was that after that interaction, the employee remained very close to us and appeared to be watching us the entire time. When we moved to a different area, she followed. Whether intentional or not, it felt as though we were being monitored because she suspected we might steal something. My mom and I both noticed it, and it made the shopping experience uncomfortable. We are paying customers who have visited this store before and have never given anyone a reason to be suspicious of us. I understand that retail employees have a job to do, but there is a difference between being attentive and making customers feel like they're under surveillance. Unfortunately, because of that experience, we didn't feel welcome during our visit.

The whole store is made up of Hawaiian themed merchandise. There were jewelry, cards, body care items and tons of clothes. They have some really cute items. My friend purchased a set of plastic flower beads to string together to make a necklace. What caught my eye that I really wanted was the sunrise shell necklace. I've always wanted one. The shell has the pink and yellow colors on it to mimic the sunrise. I'm contemplating on getting it as I've wanted one for a while.

I went in and out of the dressing rooms a few times while trying on outfits, and none of them had a basket or spot for purses. Each time I had to hang my handbag on a hanger with the clothes, since I refuse to put my handbag on the dirty ground. Finally, the very last dressing room I tried did have a basket at the bottom, which was much better. The clothing and jewelry are adorable -- some even look handmade -- and I did buy a few outfits and a cute pair of earrings. Prices are on the higher side, but the pieces are unique and eye-catching, so if you're looking for something different, it might be worth it. Unfortunately, checkout brought the experience down. Since I didn't need a bag, the sales associate handed me my clothes directly, but forgot my earrings. I didn't notice until I was halfway home. I tried looking everywhere for a phone number -- Yelp, the Ala Moana directory, the internet -- and couldn't find one. The only number I found just rang with no answer. So instead of calling, I had no choice but to drive all the way back through traffic. When I arrived, the sales associate saw me, handed me the earring, and said she was "going to text me." No apology, no "sorry for the inconvenience" -- nothing. Considering they have my number from the rewards program sign-up, that was disappointing. Overall, Sugar Sugar is a cute boutique with stylish pieces, but expect boutique pricing and limited dressing room amenities. The service could use improvement, especially when mistakes happen.

Shopping in Chinatown, Honolulu, Hawaii…read more.. My mom was on the hunt for Year of the Dragon shirts for my sister in Colorado, my nephew, and my nieces. We went to Walmart, Don Quijote, Dillingham Shirt Outlet, and Maunakea Street in Chinatown. She found shirts at Jessica's Jewelryand Gifts, but she didn't get a shirt for my nephew's girlfriend. In a panic, mom called me to go back to Jessica's. They were sold out. Only XL gray shirts were left. I entered Maunakea Marketplace, where I had dropped her off the other day, but she didn't walk far enough in... to get to YaFangShi Fashion. On the day before Lunar New Year, I saw many shirts of various colors and different designs hanging outside a shop! Inside, the clothes were neatly folded, and the dresses were hanging for better viewing. OMG... It was like t-shirt heaven! The shop was called YaFangShi Fashion. The friendly owner introduced herself and said that her name was Lian and that she's been here for 24 years! I had passed by often... and even bought a lavender-colored Cony umbrella, but didn't know the name of the shop. Looking around, Lian even had dresses, tops, jackets, footwear, accessories, and pants! I got a navy blue, medium-sized Year of the Dragon shirt for my nephew's girlfriend and gave it to mom to give to her on Lunar New Year. Everyone was happy! Yay! Happy Lunar New Year of the Wood Dragon!
